[Q] Full screen digital speedometer app - Moto 360

G'day all. I've changed the gearing on my motorbike and it's thrown the speedo WAY out... Is there an app available that will do nothing more than keep the screen awake and show me how fast I'm going according to GPS? Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately not, but a good idea to developers.

In Play Store there is a speed watch by Zuhanden that shows your speed. I don't known if the display stays on, and I guess there's a limit to how far away you can tuck your phone or the GPS will not work. Its free as far as I remember.

Anyone else have these problems? (GPS, Skype, Calendar, Bluetooth)

So...
I'm very unhappy with my Asurion forced upgrade from the Incredible to the Incredible 2. Is anyone else having these problems and is there any solution?
Aside from the issues in the pictures, the Bluetooth never gets connected. I keep getting "HF Error 68" on my stereo. I guess that could actually be my stereo though...
I'm not sure what you're trying to show with the map. GPS works great on my I2. I use it almost daily.
While I don't use the calendar heavily, it hasn't crashed one me.
I don't use Skype.
I use bluetooth frequently for stereo audio, primarily in my car. I have no problems with pairing, auto-connecting, etc.
Have you tried rebooting your phone? Contact support?
Basically, what nimdae said: no issues.
If you haven't already, try a factory reset too.
Tried rebooting and resetting my phone. Also, alarm didn't go off this morning. When I woke up the alarm thing was showing but no alarm and the "Snooze" button was greyed out and I could only press "dismiss".
With the map. I use Runkeeper to track my exercise activities. Do you see how it's jagged all over the road? It adds about 20% on to the length of every exercise. This ruins any chance or keeping track of distance, pace, estimated calories burned, etc. My Droid 1 and Dinc had fine GPS. Maybe it locks fast and works fine for navigation but for tracking anything it's terrible. I certainly wasn't zig-zagging all over the road like in that picture.
Sounds to me you have a defective phone. I can't comment regarding RunKeeper, as every phone I've had that I've tried using the app with, including the iPhone, I thought has sucked for GPS tracking.. Beyond that though, none of the issues you are seeing.
I have had none of those issues.
I have not tried run keeper but I use endomondo for running. For the most part it is VERY accurate...the only time it is a bit off is when I go around a sharp u - sometimes it cuts across rather than following the u. But I think that is a software polling issue.
I agree with the others that your phone sounds defective.
I'll have to load up one of those apps and see what result I get. It's always good to compare. I've noticed a geocaching app I used had a slight accuracy issue, but it wasn't all over the place. I was at least able to use it as a reference.
Another thing - do you turn gps on and off or just leave it on?
When I first got this phone I would turn it off and on. I noticed that when I turned it on it took forever to lock.
I leave it on now.
I don't really remember if I left it on or not but a 20 mile ride should have had a lock somewhere in the beginning.
It seems my calendar issue was just something with that event, as it works okay with editing others and after changing my alarm notification sound the alarm works.
I am still having this issue with Skype telling me that I'm not on Verizon in the US... I have the hybrid Alltel PRL, maybe that has something to do with it? The GPS issue is just too much. I rely on Runkeeper to keep track of my running and cycling and having to take note of length and route, then completely remove and manually add the every event back in just isn't going to work for me.
The GPS works great for me on the inc2, I've used it plenty of times to get me home. I use the calendar as well and never seen a F/C/ I'd call for a refurb.

There's a difference between the navigation mapping and the GPS usage he's attempting, which I intend to test with my I2. Navigation shows your relative position on a set path so if you are slightly off, it still shows you on the set path. On the other hand, things like geocaching and bike/run tracking doesn't lock you to a path, but rather tracks what the GPS radio reports is your location, whether on a road or in the middle of a field. In his scenario, his GPS is reporting him zigzagging on a road, which increases the estimated run distance and throws off various calculations.
I have some interest in this issue because I use a mapping app called Waze and because of this potential issue I've been hesitant to use the feature that allows you to map new roads using GPS.
I've been pretty busy so I haven't had a chance to hop on my bike with a tracker. I'll try to get to it this weekend if I'm not stuck on conference calls :S
@Grouper
Somehow I missed that you are using this for estimating calorie burn. I would highly recommend a Polar heart rate monitor. Any heart rate monitor will be more accurate than making a guess based on run time and distance, and I've found the Polar monitors to be pretty great, though a little on the expensive side. I like that it works with my cardio equipment as well, and I'll use it with my weight training and martial arts training.
I was thinking about getting one of the chest strap monitors but just don't have the money to spend on one right now.
I'm very curious to know whether or not I have a defective phone or if the drivers for gps on this device are just crappy.

GPS Compass really messed up!

I am really concerned about the GPS compass issue (not the magnetic one). It makes navigation applications like NDrive and Sygic unusable. While I am driving the nav app would suddenly recalculate the route on a different road then a few seconds later it comes back to my actual location, and it keeps doing that even if u are not moving.
This is really irritating, do any of u face a similar issue? Do u think its a hardware or a software problem?

Can you please provide me with the market link, I really would appreciate it
EDIT: I got it, and cleared the agps data but still the same issue. The wierd thing is that while I stand still, the speed keeps increasing and descreasing at very high number.
I tested another one x and it was far more accurate and stable than mine I think mine is defective :S
Mine is quite amusing it says i'm at home then you will see it move at light speed and place my gps target in a whole other country whilst saying its got 5m accuracy, have tried clearing aps to make no diff

The best way to test GPS is to put the phone in airplane mode, turn off GPS, and reboot it. After it reboots then activate GPS. That way it won't be using aGPS (wireless or Wi-Fi) and be relying solely on the GPS chip for location.
Download an app from the Market called GPS Test. When I run it I see the phone's kind of screwy. It sees 16 satellites immediately (excellent) and locks on about half of them (average) but then keeps changing which satellites it's receiving from.
It will get down to 9' in accuracy which is actually very good but it's odd that it keeps shifting satellites instead of staying locked on the ones it has previously identified and read. I set a route in CoPilot using nothing but the GPS chip and it seemed fine; my origin remained stationary. When I go out later I'll actually try using it in the car for a full route.
It's really hard to say whether it's h/w or s/w at this point.
Edit: After doing all the above I noticed I lost a pretty hefty amount of battery. Looking in the battery stats Android OS was the number one battery user exceeding even the display. That's abnormal which leads me to guess the issue is probably s/w.
What is a "GPS compass", please? (There's no such thing.)
Used GPS for the first time yesterday, for a two hour trip with Sygic maps' 12.1 beta. Worked perfectly the whole way.

That could be a red herring. A rather large issue has been discovered with the battery stats that it does not go down correctly when the phone is on standby (screen off). When it suddenly realises the true battery status, it plummets to the correct level.
Yeah. There is something strange going on with the compass and GPS.
Google Maps has my arrow moving around a lot and also changes direction significantly even when I'm stationary. Not sure what is going on there. There is a certain amount of uncertainty and jitter when using GPS but it should be smoothed out.
I've tried disabling the WiFi/Cell location system and only using GPS but it doesn't affect it. Resetting the AGPS data doesn't help either.
The GPS issue seems to be big and i use GPS and Navigation too often with my phone. Tonight or tomorrow i am getting my One X and i hope they will sort this out sooner.

That's debatable. I have no noticeable issues when actually moving (even at walking pace), and get an accurate lock. When sitting still, the GPS does show slight motion, but only in the area immediately around my actual point, and even my dedicated GPS receiver does that to a degree. It's a fact of life that consumer GPS doesn't give better accuracy than a couple of yards.
I used Google navigation yesterday for a 25 mile trip. No issue. I've not tried it for walking but then I never really use it for that. Maybe I can have a go and report back.

I too am noticing an issue with GPS accuracy as detailed in my post here using sports trackers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599057
Hard to say if its a software issue or hw issue... I havent "Tracked" myself over a long distance so it could be the GPS getting confused with only small changes in distance?
Can someone track themselves on a long-ish road that doesnt have many/any slow moving areas so we can see the accuracy of it?
I'd be curious to know what cases people with problems are using. We've already had one report of reduced wifi range with a third-party case, not beyond the realms of possibility that it could also reduce gps reception.

Guys, I just replaced my phone yesterday, I have to say the replacement has far more better accuracy than the old one. It seems to be a hardware defect and if you have the same problem then have it replaced asap.
To check, just download speedview, stand still outside with clear vew to the sky, and see how the speed jumps. If its between 0 to 5 and mostly 0 then you have a good unit, otherwise if goes to 20 then 40 and even 220!! then u definitely need to replace the device. I dont think any method u try will resolve this issue cuz its a hardware problem and not software.

If GPS is unusable, you most likely have a hardware problem. Get the phone replaced.

That's funny to watch. Here's what I've found. When you download and view GPS Tracker you can see that the phone's not staying fixed to specific satellites and is instead bouncing around between them. The weaker the signal (indoors) the more it bounces. Outdoors with a clear signal it's fine. But because it's still locking on satellites, even randomly, it still maintains its accuracy. My accuracy indoors is 9' vs. 15' for my SGS2. I haven't compared it to another One X so can't comment on whether they all behave the same way.
You might want to run GPS Tracker on both your One X and GN to see how differently they perform. Also keep in mind that the way GPS works in flight mode (no aGPS support) is very different than when it's using Wi-Fi or a wireless signal. The former is the best way to test the GPS chips function. To really test the GPS chip put the phone in flight mode and then restart it. It'll be much slower to lock (they all are) and the results you'll be seeing are the GPS chip working on its own.

Daydream and qi wireless

Why is it that the daydream stops right after the battery is full?
I know that there is apps like stay alive! to keep the screen on
the whole time. But i cant make it to work.
Is there another way to get daydream to work wireless at nights?
There is a thread already about wireless charging meltdowns.
Basically we have determined that AFTER the phone charges to reach 100%, the phone kinda starts to freak out. This results in lockups and app freezing. I think what is happening here is the background service starts to eat resources and the background apps are getting closed out to conserve memory, effectively killing the DayDream app.
I would follow this:

Alternative to My Tracks

I've been using My Tracks on my Xperia and SW3 for ages, but now Google is ending the fun
What alternatives are there? It needs to be able to record tracks/routes on the SW3 alone as well as on the phone.
Have you tried Google Fit? I've used it and it almost has the same statistics as My Tracks and also shows your route on a map view inside the app.
Fit is an ok app, but the main draw back is huge battery drain, at least compared to MT.
strange, I have been using Google Fit all the time, 2x 20 min gps bike rides daily, a bit of walking, two day battery life easily, no problem whatsoever with battery drain. Maybe a reset of your watch first?
I just tried Fit again and it seems to work well, without any battery issues. Maybe marshmallow sorted the issues I had previously. Giving Fit a chance to show what it can do then
About Fit app - recently i`m missing one part of Fit app - i cant record any activities - i have Fit app and icon, and Fit Activity is missing. I`ve tried to reset watch - same thing. I`ve reinstall Android Wear app - nihil novi sub sole. Help please? Maybe show me alternative to Fit app - i need to run without phone - only with SW3 watch. Anyone can help me? Endomondo? Strava? Can those programs work as stand alone apps only in my watch and have build in gps support?
Ghostracer is fine

Some newbie questions

Hi All,
Great forum, used it a lot with several devices.
So, I just got my Huawei watch and it is great!!
I do have some questions and tips that it will be great if you could help me with and I couldn't find answers to (sorry if its too long...)
1. Charging - what is the best way to charge it in order keep the battery life? like everyday few mins? everyday to full charge? let it drop until X%?
2. Always on option - is there an option to make it sleep at night? like I like this option very much, but as I don't sleep with it, I think it is better that the screen will be off at night.
in addition, do it harm the screen if always on working all the time?
3. Reset - do you reset the devise occasionally? like in purpose. I mean, on my Samsung S6 i know that once in a while I need to reset it to get a better performance.
3. Steps tracking - I was with the blue moon face and noticed that the steps showed is updated after few seconds, meaning that let's say I walked 50 steps, I stop, look at the watch, see the old steps count and after 2-3 seconds it is "jumped" and updated to the new count. in addition, if I stop, wait this few seconds and look at the watch, the count is ok - is this normal?
4. fitness app - which app to use with it that will sync the best with my phone? I installed Google fit and its not doing the job good. it looks like it count steps from the phone and not the watch, or mixed it together, In addition the distance and calories count is way not true, like it show the distance far low then the true (I updated my height and weight, over the app and on the watch) and the calories far more then it is.
In addition I installed the Huawei wear app and it looks much more accurate, showing the steps as the watch, and separate it to walking and steps, distance is accurate and calories as well. but the app doesn't look so good and looks like it missed a lot of other option.
In addition, I don't understand why the Huawei app on the watch is not showing distance but just steps count.
So, which app do you use? I basically want a nice app that will show my daily usage and if can, that will sync with the heart rate measure that i can take from time to time.
Can I sync it to S-Health that I have? or please recommend for another app.
5. Is there any nice watch face that shows not only the steps count but the distance as well?
6. Any other general recommendations?
I think that's it for now
Thank you very much for your help.

Although the screen should not be harmed if always on is working all the time, at night you can use theater mode to turn your screen off without powering down the watch. The easiest method of going into theater mode is by quickly double pressing the button on the watch. You can also go into the pulldown menu from the main watchface and swipe over to theater mode to do the same thing. This can save some watch battery if you have the watch off the charger all night or if the battery is getting low during the day and you want to squeeze a few more hours out. It is meant for if you're in the movies and don't want the light from the watch screen to distract you or others from the movie. To exit theater mode and turn the screen back on, just single press the button on the watch.
Btw your post may be removed since we aren't supposed to post questions here in the general forum. There is a Q&A forum however where any questions can be asked about the Huawei watch. http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-watch/general/notice-post-questions-t3367506/page1
Enjoy your watch!

From my experience, it is ok to factory reset your device once every two months or when you feel it has become quite sluggish although you mustn't expect the performance results to be visible right away after the reset. After the reset, all the applications from your phone will be resynced and the Google Play Services will begin to re-download its updates thus resulting in bad battery life and perfomance for that day until it settles down.
Great.
Thanks for helping.
I always charge the watch to 100% and wait until it goes below 10% to charge it.
When I take the watch off my hand I also shut it down and power it on again when I put it on. This gives me about 3 days of using the watch without charging.

If you put your watch on a desk the display will completely turn off after about 10 minutes, even if you chose always on.
If there is no movement detected for a certain period of time, the display will switch off. This can sometimes also happen if you are in a very steady position. My watch turns occasionally off while I'm playing Playstation and holding the controller in the same position.

I noticed that but as inconsistent.
Sometimes it did it exactly as you describe and sometime not. left it on the desk, half an hour and still always on worked.
I don't know the exact algorithm behind it, but I'm pretty confident that the display will switch off sooner or later. I always put my watch on my desk at night and every morning the display is pitch black.
