Greetings - Anyone know of any SMS/MMS App(s). compatible with Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro I can download from Play Store?....I downloaded/installed GO SMS Pro, but doesn't seen to work...Getting some msg. when I open it stating something about GOSMS prohibited by permission manager...Others I tried to download stated were not compatible: chomp SMS, Textra SMS, 8sms, HoverChat, Handcent sms,...
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated...Thank you...
I'm using MightyText, no apparent issues here. I have it setup on my Nexus 4, Tab Pro 12.2 and Windows 7 PC at work.
Are you trying to text directly from your tablet? You can set up a Google voice account and use that number for texting. Otherwise you need to set up an app that will transfer the text from your phone to your tablet via wifi or bluetooth. I have used mighty text on my computer, but an currently using Tablet Talk.
Nomedias/k8108 - Thank you for the feedback...
I attempted to download/install MightyText from the Play Store, but getting a msg stating that my device isn't compatible with this version...Been getting that a lot when attempting to download/install apps. from Play Sore...
Any ideas?...
I assume you didn't run into that problem when you installed on our Samsung TAB Pro(???)...
All I'm looking to do is send SMS/MMS from my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.2...
Thank you...

You can also use hangouts for this. But, you might want to complement it with the Xposed module XHangouts, for better mms handling.

I'm running stock Samsung ROM on my Tab Pro 12.2, and no I didn't have any problems. What ROM are you running? In the past I ran into app incompatibility issues on my HP TouchPad due to what a custom ROM would have for "ro.product.model" or "ro.product.name" in the /system/build.prop file. At times I had to tweak it to report another model to get certain apps to install.
Or, you can download it on another tablet, extract the apk and sideload. Keep in mind the Tablet and Phone versions of MightyText are different apps.

you use hangouts for this?
I want to use my tablet to text while at work because the only way I get reception is when the phone is 12' away sitting in a window. I have been tethering my tablet and use that at my desk.
Anyone know a good way to acomplish this? I know the G3 & G pad 8.3 can do this.
I'm running CM11 on my TP8.4 & a stock 1+One. Also, I use hangouts on my phone. I looked at mysms, but I don't want to have to use their app on my phone I still want to use hangouts, or something that runs in the background.

Personally I haven't tried it, but reading the explanations in the XHangouts OP it is supposed to be one of the best. Another alternative is to use Hangouts for GV/messaging using your GV number.

Thats a good idea, but i was hoping to use my carrier number. I dont really need a second line. I've read that voice is going the way of google buzz soon. I believe it now considering the new call feature in hangouts.
Try the tablet talk app. I use that for sending texts from my tablet. It tethers to my phone and shows I am texting from that number

Ugh, the forum won't me post links cause I'm a new user, but there's two separate apps for MightyText, one for your phone and one for your tablet. You probably downloaded the wrong one onto your tablet. Just search "MightText Tablet" in the play store.

Hi,
You should definitely give this new app called SVS a try. Download it from shareviasms.com or:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.svs.shareviasms
Properly known as Share Via SMS , is a friendly sms app built using material design. It lets you share images and audio over standard sms, without using the internet.
SVS its a great tool for who don't have access to the internet or can't afford data packages.
sync sms works great for me. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.d0lph1nk1ng.syncsms&hl=en

1) does the galaxy not use the default android sms app
2) try deleting data in sms storage (or messeges or whatever its called) in manage applications.
3) if you bought the app legally and not just paid for a membership to a warez site, you can contact the dev for the latest versions.

2) Didn't work, done it many times, but thank you. Any other ideas? What about wiping cache etc? I don't mind, as long as I don't loose settings
3) Cool, thank you
Edit: Seemed to have sorted number 2, found a great app on the market called SMS Manager, must be knew because never could find it before. So if anyone has the editing sms app on the samsung galaxy, that would be lovely. Then we can close this thread
I finally got GV Integration Free onto my N7(WiFi only model). Here's how to do it. First you'll need a GV account and the GV app on your N7. Then follow the instructions below.
1. Download and install "MMS.apk"
2. Download and install "com.mdrtools.app.gvintegration.free-1.apk"
3. Open GV Integration Free and enter GV email and password
4. Select "Enable Integration" and wait for device to reboot
And that's it.
Enjoy!
EDIT: GoSMS also works with GV Integration.

It allows you to use the native messaging app or GoSMS to send text messages via Google Voice. I personally didn't like using the GV app to text and since you can't install this via the Play Store on a N7(WiFi model) I decided to share the apks for those who wanted to use something other than the GV app to send/receive texts.
This is awesome
GV doesn't group all the messages from one sender into a single thread and the interface is not attractive to me. I use GO Sms, and this allows me to use my favorite SMS application on my tablet. Thank you very much.
How did you extract the apk?
Great work! I have been using the apk you posted and have purchased the paid app on my S3.
On the Nexus 7 tablet, I keep getting the nag screen each time I get a new message, and I can't upgrade because the app is not compatible with the device in the market.
So my options (as far as my limited thinking allows) are:
1. Figure out a way to disable the nag alerts.
2. Extract the paid apk from my S3 and install it on my N7
How did you extract the apk? From Googling, it is supposed to be in /data/app/com.mdrtools.apps.gvintegration-1.apk and I should be able to pull it using adb, However, the apk does not exist in /data/app/ on my phone. Any help would be appreciated.

You could do a Titanium Backup of the app on your S3 and transfer that backup to the Nexus 7. Then restore the app only (no data) on your Nexus 7.

Thank you. This worked perfectly.
I had to use this attached MMS apk (see link below) on cm10 stable with a GV integration apk that I can't upload here because its a paid application. The GV integration APK in the OP saying it was pirated.
Download MMS.apk: http://d-h.st/jmf

Not sure why it is saying it's pirated, it's the free version that I backed up on my GNex and transferred to my N7. So if you have the problem of the app saying it's pirated and have a device compatible with GV Integration then you can back it up with TiBu and transfer the apk to the TiBu folder on the root of the "sdcard" and restore it through TiBu.
Could someone please post a screenshot of what it looks like?
Will this work for Canadians?? I installed everything and the messages say they have been sent but no one is receiving them. I can make calls via gv no problem but this is my first time trying to text.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for this info. I got it to work with an inverted mms.apk, same one I use on my phone, but I'm not getting notification of a new message on my notification bar. I have it set in the GV Integration to "Always" for Notification Bar Icon. Are others that are using the AOSP apk getting it to show on their notification bar when you receive a text?
Sent from my VZW GS3
So I tried this out and it worked great!
I haven't been able to get chromp or go sms to work on top of it but just the default messenger app itself isn't that bad.
I know this should go in apps/themes but will probably get most visibility here, plus this thread will die quick enough anyways. Mods, move it if you want, not that you need my permission.

Anyone know if SMS is part of it? Seems silly for it not to be, but doesn't look like it's part of it. So not actually unified messaging yet.

Just installed it, and people's numbers are listed. What happens if I send a message to one? Bearing in mind that Google Voice doesn't yet exist in the UK!
Really does seem like an huge gap. They talked about getting technology out of the way so you can get on with communication, but I still have two apps to send messages and pictures to other people!

It verified my # first?. But didnt migrate my sms list and the hangout message I sent didnt show in sms. I agree it would be cool if that was a feature, maybe in the future.
Didnt want to make a new thread for this but since we are talking about apps and stuff announced at Google I/O. New updates for Google Play music and Google search are in the play store. Google Play Music looks COMPLETELY different.
It tried to verify my number, but I think that's a WhatsApp style link for others to find you.
However, my SIM reports my number as something else entirely because I ported a number over. So it couldn't verify me. Trying to talk to my network now, they're not answering...

I like the improvements too! I figured as much of a hot topic as Hangouts has been I might as well post the thread just in case someone forgot what today is lol. Like I said in the OP, I'm expecting it to die quickly - just a friendly PSA. But you are correct, probably didn't warrant a new thread but I've seen worse.

Yeah, but the number my SIM reports is not my phone number, and Hangouts picked up the number from the SIM! Trying to get the network to reset it...

This is transitioning Talk into Hangouts so it may take a little time for everything to line up. At first I was being directed to "Hangouts (replaces Talk)" that just said "open" on my device, and it looked like Talk. But then, after a dozen impatient refreshes, "open" changed to "update". Now Talk is labeled Hangout and has the new UI, but the icon is still Talk. Messages I am sending in Hangout on my phone are appearing in Talk in gmail on my comp right now.

If I'm understanding you right, you're trying to access Hangouts via the Gmail web interface. The Chrome Hangouts plugin does NOT replace the Talk box in Gmail. It adds an extra app, which is accessed by clicking the Hangouts icon on your Chrome toolbar.
The Gmail web interface will be rolled out later and will be upgraded from within Gmail itself.
Sideload mirrors as attached. (hangouts apk was too large for xda. reuploading...)

Say more with photos, emoji, and animated GIFs.
See when people are together in Hangouts, when they’re typing, or whether they’ve seen your message.
Send and receive text messages (SMS/MMS) with Hangouts. Switch between SMS and Hangouts when messaging a friend. You can also do group MMS conversations.
Turn any conversation into a video call with up to 10 friends.
Message friends anytime, even if they're not connected right now.
Use Hangouts on computers, Android and Apple devices.
More Hangouts awesomeness:
Hangouts stay in sync across devices so you can start or continue them anywhere.
Choose from hundreds of emoji to help you make your point.
See what you talked about in the past, including shared photos and your video call history.
Get notifications just once. Once you see an alert, you won’t see repeats on your computer or other Android devices.
View collections of photos shared from each of your Hangouts.
Snooze notifications at times when you’d prefer to be undisturbed by alerts.
Quickly share a location with your friends
.
Notes:
Unlike Google Talk, Hangouts does not support "invisible" status.
hope this fixes the video chat crash on my girls S4.

Market version if installed from Play Store shouldn't be crashing, the one users that have been tryign to push/install manually. has had issues.
In my experiance. I don't like to link to to others, becuase its rude to the OP. But you can flash mine (Inverted) and I have had no issues what so ever.
You are required to have newest Play Services as well...
Using the OP3 for 5 days now and still struggling a lot . Somehow I got the message about no space on the storage although there were not many files there. So had to do a reset, and reinstalled all apps a fresh.
I am horribly addicted to the DND , Block Caller , Memo and Email Client of Samsung. I assumed that the OP3 being a Android phone, would have all of these and more.
I have installed a app (Do not Disturb) for the DND which seems to be working fine. Can someone suggest a workaround for the other three problems, i.e Block Caller, Memo (where I can import samsung memos) and email client like Samsung, please.
I would like to keep the phone and am making all efforts to work towards that. All advice will be highly appreciated.
A stupid question, would all these problems be overcome with a downgrade to Marshamallow, if that is possible at all ?
- use google keep for memo (its better)
- tons of options for email, you can use Gmail for starters (even for Microsoft Exchange), or check out BlueMail if you want to try a third party.
if you're trying to get these on stock OOS with no root/xposed:
- create a contact called SPAM and add callers you want to block to that, then make that contact's calls all go to voicemail
if you're willing to unlock BL & root:
- Flash Google Dialer w/ framework to block callers
- use Root Call Blocker

Thanks for your reply. Gmail does not go to the Combined view of Inbox directly, dislike that. Needed a simple client which is included with the phone. Have tried BlueMail found it very complicated. I dont mind rooting if I can get a permanent solution to my problems.
About Truecaller or any other Dialler which uploads the phone book, is a huge issue for me and I dont want to do that.
About Google Keep, have tried that. Didnt like it. Besides I have hundreds of notes on my Samsung Memo with Titanium backups available, all lost.

You are issues rare, it also tells how diverse this world is. Most people here, specially me, just hate Samsung UI, missing frame rates and lags, chinese looking touchwiz. Good to know, some people prefer it as well. I exchanged galaxy S7 for OP3 with commitment never to buy Samsung again, i feel you have opposite issues
There are tones of memo applications, oneNote it's working fine and also you can sync with the widows os, using a branded application such Samsung's crap which you can't ported to other devices it's risky, Samsung like Apple are pushing us to use their own ****, less flexibility

You should try HydrogenOS v0.10 which comes with its own notes app and you can block or record calls directly from the phone app. For email, I myself use Inbox from Google which works great but try few from PlayStore.

Why did you buy OP3 instead of Samsung?
I mean, if you prefer Samsung stile why did you change it for a pure android one?
Anyway, I'm looking for an OP3. If you would like to sell it to buy a Samsung device I would like to help you.

There are tones of memo applications, oneNote it's working fine and also you can sync with the widows os, using a branded application such Samsung's crap which you can't ported to other devices it's risky, Samsung like Apple are pushing us to use their own ****, less flexibility

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have had Onenote since ages on my phones, never thought of using it as a memo pad. Infact it is a very good suggestion, the Quick notes are really handly and get synced to all devices too.

For memo i would suggest google keep or colornote, for mail you can try outlook, for call blocking you can try call blocker by nq mobile security it works good for me.
And if you root it to some other custom rom like resurrection rom i think there is an inbult feature of call blocking..

Your first mistake is thinking that Samsung ships Android. They ship TouchWiz and add a bunch of "value added" crap most people don't care about. Most if not all of those things can be found on Google Play.
