Was wondering where everyones battery usage was sitting at for these two services. Mine are both constantly on top and i cant figure out why. Anyone have this same problem or is this the new norm?
I had same issue for a day...I just went through all my apps that may be refreshing or syncing and turned everything off that I didn't need. I do have my weather widget on lock screen refreshing every hour but it doesn't seem to effect my battery at all. I'd say something is running in the background

Same issue I had with my S4 once updating to KitKat and unfortunately, It's basically the same on the Note 4.
These are always near the top now with Kitkat. Was the same on my Note 3.

Ive been having the Android System / OS problem...battery life has been terrible lately. I have no clue why....any ideas guys?
I had this problem too, for me it turns out to be caused by the phone hanging while syncing.
Go to Settings > Account > Google > (your account) and check if there is a syncing symbol that is persistent (like it will just not disappear after a couple minutes). If your case is like mine, that's what is keeping your phone awake and reducing your battery life. For me, I removed my Google account then re-added it just to make sure it was that one thing hanging (which in my case was Google Play Movies & TV), and when the results were the same, I unchecked the culprit and my battery life returned to normal.
I don't know why Google Play Movies & TV hangs when syncing for me, but since disabling sync for it I've had no other issue with my battery life.
Hope that helps

How do you get such high screen on time? I get 4-5 hours of screen time on lowest brightness.

Hey all,
I tried searching but came up empty, is there an app that specifically turns off data when you turn your screen off or lock the phone? I read that juicedefender does this but was wondering if there was a app that is designed to turn off certain things when locking phone.
thanks!
Well you basically said it...you can use juice defender, or look into the tasker app.

Juice Defender ftw
I've been looking into this same issue. After looking around and getting some advice from another xda member, I went with juice defender which has been outstanding so far.
If you heavy, heavy usage, you won't really notice a difference. However, if you use your phone, set it down for a while, use it again, let it sleep... all throughout the day, you will notice a significant increase in battery life. The first day I installed it, I sent a text while I was at work and then set my phone down. I grabbed it almost 3 hours later for something and it had gone down 1%.

While JuiceDefender IS designed to save battery life and such, it is designed to do just that. Meaning in order to save battery life, it disables and enables certain connections when the screen is off/locked etc.

I totally agree with you on the type of usage. If your screen is constantly on you probably won't notice a difference. Juice Defender saves battery when your phone is inactive.
doesnt the evo already have a disable always on mobile data option?
If you're on Sense, there's a widget for it. On MIUI, it's in the pull down bar toggles

Seems odd, because i don't need Mobile Data on while wifi is on.

Well if it doesn't do it jus go into connection settings and turn it off or if the ROM your running has quick settings in the pull down see if mobile network is there if it is just uninstall juice defender and make it a routine to click that before you put your phone down or in your pocket
My nexus is getting absolutely killed battery wise, and the partial wakelock is mostly with this *overflow* service/process. Does anyone know what it does and how to get rid of it?
Nobody knows?
Maybe an app you've installed? Look for it on settings. It should be there.

Type "overflow betterbatterystats" into google and the second and third links may help you.
They are talking about an app causing it but I'll leave you read it yourself.

Try eliminate apps one by one.
Freeze one, see if it is the cause, if not then move on to the next.

Afraid so.
But at least in the future when someone searches for overflow your solution will be there for them! Good deed for the day!
Did you get anywhere with this? It looks like I'm having the same issue too. I've only got a few apps installed on many sgs 3.
ics browser +
Spotify
G strings (music tuner)
Color note
Beautiful widgets.
Thanks.
Same here. I get this issue from time to time with my galaxy nexus. I have to reboot to get it to go away.
Ist it possible that lightflow is The Bad app .
It will logical. Cause the wakelocks are everytime when a message is coming in lightly send a command to the light notification to go on.
I think that's the app in my wakelocks.
I ll try it out.
I have the same entry with overflow on my galaxy s3. but from the list 3 posts up I only habe Beautiful widgets installed. and many other apps. I haven't installed lightflow.

I've not had this return after removing beautiful widgets. My only other offender for random high battery usage is a gtalk process, which I understand is related to google sync rather than the app itself (which has since been removed).
today I have the "overflow" process since many days back. The last weeks I had not this issue. Today I updated many apps in the market and remove "google googles".
And now, there it is. the "overflow" process is back.
Beautiful widgets is no more on my phone. I use now fancy widgets and many other programs.
I think this is a sporadic problem. I reboot my phone and looks forward.
Reboot doesn't help to remove :crying:
Why the hell the process is back.
i have the same with S3, any updates ?
not on my side.
the android 4.1 is out. but at this time only on kies. I have'nt try it out. but i think it is an user installed application that goes to "overflow"
it looks like the battery live time is the same without the overflow, so i ignore it
Have you tried posting here?

I'm fairly convinced it was Beautiful Widgets causing my problem.
I also found Samsung Sync was an offender for increased battery usage, disabling it has increased battery life from 2 and a bit days to 3 and a bit.

I am monitoring my battery through BetterBatteryStatus. I see that the PowerManagerService kernel wakelock is keeping my phone from going to sleep. It keeps the phone on for nearly 120 mins in a day. Any idea of what that could be? I suspect that it is due to the Smart Stay feature of Galaxy S3 and I just disabled it now.
I'm getting this on CM 10.1, so no power stay. Wondering what it is too though.
PowerManagerService is basically a catch-all for partial wakelocks (wakelocks requested by non system apps). To see which apps are actually requesting the wakelocks, go to the Partial Wakelocks screen.

Use Better Battery Stats. instead of looking at the Kernel Wakelocks, switch it to partial wakelocks, and if I understand correctly, the sum of the partial wakelocks is effectively the powermanagementservice wakelock
Just wanted to say that i too had a lot of partial wakelocks draining battery on my SGS3 CM11 (using ART) but I've managed to solve the problem via cleaning the cache in settings->storage. Since then, the CPU is awaken only 19% of time and my batt last 5/6 days with WiFi, Now etc.. (I have a 7000mh zerolemon)

Have you seen any benefits by switching to ART?
If I clean the cache, what will it delete? Will I lose all my App settings and game levels? I have about 54Mb in there.

I just tried clearing and a message came up saying "Security policy restricts clearing of this app's cache."
Is this normal? How can I find out which app is causing the problem?
I have a Samsung galaxy note 2 and every time I lock lock my phone it suddenly turns right back on. It's been happening for two days now. I've tried factory reset and hard reset.. nothing seems to work. Looked at several forums but none seem to help either. Use wake lock app and it says this ..see attachment
Same here with various audio partial wakelocks that add up to 12 days of kernel wakelocks. This started when I upgraded to:
gapps-kk-20140606 & cm-11-20140611-snapshot-m7-snapshot kernel 3.0101-cyanogenmod-g329d6a1 build03 #1
I have gmail sync disabled but contacts sync on. I notice CM have added apollo to the lockscreen so this could be a bug I need to search for

What do mean by 'better' and 'wonderfull' specifically?
My M8 went from being the best phone I've ever had in terms of battery performance, to being utterly awful a few days back. I organised an exchange, but in the time I was waiting for the exchange to take place, a factory reset seemed to fix it. Still went with the exchange anyway.
I restored from HTC backup, and this one is having the same issue, battery wise. Also heating up sporadically. GSAM tells me I am getting an awful lot of BAM_DMUX_WAKELOCK and I've tried uninstalling apps, factory wiping and HTC restore, factory wiping and Google restore only, factory wiping and everything manually, and factory wiping and leaving it completely stock and nothing seems to make any difference.
Any ideas? It's bugging the hell out of me, I get about 12-16hrs of life with the phone barely being used now, whereas before I could get through a day of moderate to heavy use with more than half charge left.
Should I try another exchange?
assuming you Googled that wake lock...
What happens if you factory restore, don't install anything but the system app updates and turn off all of your Google account sync except for Gmail, app data and contacts?
I'm only trying to help you isolate the issue. I don't really have any more idea than you about the cause.
also, post some screenshots of your bbs and battery screens to help anyone who might like to help you out.

Thanks for replying!
Googling brought me somewhat inconclusive results about rogue apps and 2 year old maps settings.
I've just reinstalled GSAM (I read somewhere that BBS can contribute to issues) and I'll upload some screencaps at the end of today's battery life.

Ok, so these stats got reset due to restarting my phone today. Overall battery performance to this point is over 14Hr give or take. 4G was turned off most of today due to a 4G mast being faulty near my workplace so overall performance was actually slightly better than it has been lately, but still way worse than it used to be.
Screencaps!

Facebook cannot be uninstalled. I've always had it on in the past, even when I used to get really good performance. I think it's been bad since the latest HTC update.
I have disabled all syncing of FB and twitter with HTC services this morning and am only synching google with Mail, Contacts, Calendar and appdata. So far, no improvements today.
Did you restart after disabling these? In advanced Wifi settings is Scanning Always Available unchecked? BTW a little BAM_DMUX_WAKELOCK is normal. Just not hours.
IDK man, everything I can find on this points to a rouge app or service using your radio. Feedback seems to point to a mix of everything from BT to 3rd party app syncing. I think you're going to have to get linear with your troubleshooting. Go app by app and disable, wait and see if it improves.
Sorry man, this is an annoying one for sure.

Heavy usage today but ready to plugin and charge for tomorrow. The usage for apps shown is a bit higher than usual but the overall stats and SOT are darn good. Running OB7/OB7 bootloader/ customized with Xposed/OG5 modem and Beastmode kernel. Maybe the improved battery comes from the OG5 stuff.

Debloated ROM, freeze or delete apps that waste away at the battery, use auto brightness. Look for apps that wake excessively. Have you tried L Speed Mod? It will make Google Services behave. I use that with default settings, dump third party apps' cache and browser cache (including Google Play and Google Play Services) every 12 hours on a schedule and use an app by chain fire called recently to keep apps from running so much unneeded. Watch for rogue or faulty apps in the Xposed error log. Source close browser and other apps that like to keep running with back to kill app and use an ad blocker.
But really I think it has more to do with being indoors mostly on Wi-Fi and using Wi-Fi calling that gets those results. I have to credit the 5.1.1 kernel and modem too. OB7 wasn't always this good.
Half screen brightness would most likely to bright for me. What's wrong with auto brightness? It may save you some battery.

I used to do a lot of that disable things I didn't need like s voice and bloat but for some reaons I didn't reason calls or text and I credit that to all the mods I did with the phone so I haven't really moded in a while but since then I get bad battery life, and no I used to use auto brightness but then afew days ago I realized whats the point of not enjoying your phone how you want to. But dam you sure do a lot, none of that has any negative impacts>?
Not really. I go with what works. Some users just aren't happy with some things and change this and that until more content with it.

i did everything you said , got recently and also l speed rom, put the freza kernel. but my question is how do you put a scheduler? and how do you find out which apps run in the back round? if you uninstall google apps and apps that are form Samsung would that effect in anyway the phone?
I use an older application I purchased a while on an older phone that needed more memory expansion for app data. Link2SD pro did that plus had the scheduler so I still use it for that rather than buying another task manager. Couldn't tell which to use or if there are better or free ones.
