Is there anything out there to replace Smart Bulletin? I don't do the walk counter, and if I did, it's only half the screen! I have it disabled at the moment, and I know there is Blinkfeed, but is there anything else?
Uh, Google Now Launcher.
Yeah but I was hoping on keeping the stock launcher lol I seem to like it for some strange reason. :/

My father upgraded from the OG Droid, and his only problem right now is when he hits the dialer button, HTC's got that strange half dial pad / half recent contacts screen.
I've tried a few random fixes myself, using launcherpro or other apps, but can't seem to get it to work. Can't turn off Sense any more either, like the previous DI, so I am just asking if anyone knows any other ways, short of rooting and flashing?
launcher pro and other laucnhers like go launcher should do the trick to cover up sense..

A 3rd party launcher will not change the phone app.
oh the OP was referring specifically to the phone app.. my mistake.
Have you looked at any of the alternative dialers on the market? That's were I would think to start. I did a quick look and most seem to also have the divided screen but hopefully you can find one that better suits you (or your Dad).
I use my desktop dock at work, and I use the phone without taking it off. I want to disable the dock without killing the stock clock (if possible).
Is there a way to do so. I am sick of hitting home, closing the dock screen, going into the app, backing out all the way until I get to the launcher. This is the reason why iOS people don't like Android. It shouldn't be that hard. I do like android though, b/c I know I can fix it.
So can I disable it, or do I have to use another clock app. If so, what does everyone recommend. I would like something with a smart alarm feature.
I'm thinking about getting the Note 2 but have one quick question, if you installed a 3rd party Launcher, how much of the special S Pen functionality are you losing? I'm assuming some of the stuff such as video previews, gallery previews and calendar event previews that I've seen in many reviews are a function of the app rather than the Launcher. The only thing I can see missing would be going to that special S Pen homepage when you remove it but I wanted to verify that. I don't know of any other really cool S Pen features other than what I've seen in reviews (every store I've gone to hasn't had it in stock so I haven't played with it yet).
Yep. So far from what I can tell you only lose the special S Pen homescreen since that's part of the touchwiz launcher. Everything else is still there and still works.
This is my experience, too.
Note that there are four Page Buddy pages - S-Pen, Earphones, Docking and Roaming.

Right, I forgot about those other pages.
I also just remembered that you also lose the recommended shortcuts in the notification pulldown also.
Which is odd since that should be part of the system not the launcher.

Yea, no functionality is lost other than the instant S-Pen page thats part of the touchwiz launcher. Battery life also has improved for me by about an hour reliably since removing touchwiz as my default launcher and using Nova Prime. I'd say its win/win since those silly widgets can be added to any launcher page if you really want them.
Hey everyone, I have been here a while but I dont have my ten posts to post in the dev section :/ so I am posting my question here! I am on the Toro+ Gnex running Atom 422 I believe, but my question isnt specific to that ROM. In many ROMs my lock screen music widget would freeze up and stop playing and when I turned the phone on it looked like the music widget was overlaping the camera widget ( lockscreen widgets) and then disapear. I have tried using Apollo, Zplayer, and Play Music. I uninstalled all but one to test individually and I got the same results. I don't have this issue with ROMs that have the option to disable the camera lockscreen widget and I was wondering if this is a known problem with the camera or what. I am using a custom lockscreen shortcut for the camera right now so it is not a big deal I was just curious If anyone else has had this problem. This persists through dirty, clean flashes of new ROMs and kernels except for ROMs that can disable the camera lockscreen widget. thanks for the feedback!
First and foremost the Dev section is reserved for developers who wish to introduce their ROMS and kernels, not for questions such as this. So in a way, thank you for not posting here even though it was your intention to do so
As far as the lock screen...are you using stock launcher or a third party launcher such as apex or nova? Lock screen apps are just that, app that overlay the original lock screen. What I mean is that the culprit is probably your launcher. I use PA 3.94 and have no issues. Admittedly though, my lock screen security is disabled so I can use Locket. Locket has no widgets so that may be a option for you. I do kiss the music widget however, but I just unlock the screen to access the controls and in doing so I get paid for doing so.

Hmm, interesting I didnt think to change the launcher I was on Atom launcher at the time and now I am just using the launcher included in the Atom-422 Rom. After work I will re-install Atom launcher and see if I can replicate the issue. So, the lockscreen widgets are extensions of the launcher? I guess I don't understand how the launcher would cause that issue, something I am going to have to look up I guess ha Yeah I thought about removing the lockscreen but the shortcuts are just too convinient and Dash clock is awesome too. How is Locket working for you? I havent tried it but I imagined it to be laggy just because I associate Ads with lag.
P.S. I wasn't going to start a tread in the dev section, I was just going to post in the ROM thread asking if anyone else had the same issue ;]

I haven't used Atom launcher so I can't say for sure. Since you've used stock and the Atom launcher I guess you can try a third party one such as Apex or Nova and see if the issue persists. Its weird how its happening to you though, I've never heard of such bug. To my understanding, lockscreen and the associated widgets are part of the launcher, hence the reason why not all launchers support widgets. I understand your desire to keep your widgets, they do come in handy but personally I usually don't find myself wishing I had more than the standard clock since I instinctively unlock my phone anyways.
I thought the same as you with regards to Locket, but I must admit that the ads are incredibly lightweight and well designed. Most of the time I don't see them as ads but a dynamic wallpaper add-on since the ads cycle every time you turn on your display. Give it a shot, you can access the notification bar even with Locket installed, which houses playback controls as well. Link is in my siggy

Hi, can you disable Sony Select - the thing on the main screen where it rotates suggested films etc for download. I am new to smart phones :silly:
I went into apps and disabled it, and force stopped the other one, yet it is still there, even after a reboot.
Can you get rid of this crap?
Thanks.

It's just a widget, so like with all widgets: long-press on it until the little trash can appears in the navbar at bottom, then drag it to the trash to remove it from your home screen.
Ah, got it... so you can configure your screen, nice.
Thought I was stuck with it... there are some Sony stuff like that on the PS3. That Singstar crap was an eyesore that couldn't be disabled
Great, much better now :good:
Thanks, lesson learned
