I haven't tried any AOSP roms on my D851 yet, I actually find the LG apps like Dual Window and Quick Memo quite useful? Can I install these on AOSP, or do I need the LG frameworks for them to work? Can anyone offer alternatives to these apps?
Nope, not possible

Hi!
I'm planning on buying the LG G Pad 8.3, but I live in Brazil and the Google Play Edition isn't available here. However, I really love the simple UI and clean software-design from Google (I have a Moto G, as well) and I've alson seen some people saying that, sometimes, there are a few performance issues with the G Pad that isn't the Google Play Edition due to, mainly, LG's bloats. I'd like to know whether it's possible to flash the stock ROM (download it from somewhere) and, basically, turn the v500 into the v510 (GPe). So, is it possible? If it is, is it also necessary to change the kernel? And, if so, has anyone done it before / could it brick the tablet? I'd like to buy one soon, because of the price and good specs, but I'm not keen on the software-design by LG and I'd like to have a "original" system running on it, not some modified/customized cyanogen stuff (although, if that's my only option to a better performance, I'd probably choose it).
Thanks a lot!
Hello,
You can simply install CM11 + gapps, you've got something close to GPE.
Hahaha...you need to root the G Pad to install stock Android ROM. Maybe You can find the stock ROM here on xda developer...but root the device first.

Right...
The only problem I've encountered is not finding the Stock ROM from the Google Play edition... And I've seen the CM11 based version, I just don't like the setting menu from CM11, but maybe I'll do that. The main thing I want is the virtual button to show the recent apps that is simply non existant on the non-GPe edition!

On stock ROM : long press home button !
I know that, I've seen some videos about it already... But I don't like it and it's a functionality that Google has considered obsolete since Android 3.0 and, for some stupid reason, LG and their GREAT software-designers still implement it. They really should follow Motorola on this regard, as they are releasing new phones with no bloat at all, using basically what would be a Nexus version of their phones.
P.S.: FOUND A TOPIC ABOUT THIS IN GENERAL FORUM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51834016
Basically, it doesn't work due to small hardware differences (WiFi and Bluetooth seem to fail after flashing the v510 stock ROM). However, I believe an AOSP ROM is still an option for better performance.

I cannot begin to imagine why that is desirable, where everyone would have the same phone experience. Very boring.
In any case I agree that LG has done some GREAT stuff with the software. If you buy a G Pad, you will see for yourself.
How do we install CM11 + gapps? There is no playstore app?
Hi after using this phone for nearly 3 months I'm in love with the stock apps that lg have.
Will these apps still be installable on aosp?
If you manage to port them or if there are no dependencies, then they will work.

99.9% - No. Only specially hacked versions will be installable, and they will be bugged. Unfortunately, they require entire LG framework in order to function - qslide framework, double window framework, Quick Remote framework, QCircle framework...
Guess I'm going to stick to the lg software then.
I hate the aosp dialers.
Not bothered about qslide double Windows qcircle
Just messaging and dialers qmemo
going to look into upgrading to th s3v3n android hd mod and see how that pans out
Hey guys,
i searched here but can1t i find a answer. Can i install LG sotck apps in CM12? Apps like LG camera(because the beauty shot) and quickslide?
Or have some apps like that? Thanxs.
I would say that's is pretty impossible :/
Perfectly clear app has a beautification feature, im sure there are other apps.
Xposed module called Gravity box has shortcuts via custom hardware key presses which may be an alternative to quickslide.
Just google, search play store and xposed. Im confident you'll find something.
Xposed doesn't work on cm12 because it uses ART library.
Okay that should not be the versions of the LG Optimus G, but should not be even the LG G3?
does anyone use an aosp or cm based rom and use an app for the IR blaster? i tried a couple of 3rd party apps with my g2 and they were less than impressive. are there any for the g3 that work well?
I use this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/themes-apps/app-quickremote-port-aosp-t2929146. If you don't see any manufacturers listed once you install the app, you have to check the troubleshooting section in the OP for the fix.
It seems the Verizon Variant lost some great stock features, http://www.androidcentral.com/here-are-things-verizon-lg-g4-doesnt-have-other-variants-do
Since there is Root available now, has anyone found a way to install these missing features? I would really like Themes, Smart Settings, Custom Lockscreen, and LG Smart World. Cant see why Verizon would take out such basic and standard features? Not like Verizon is selling lock screens and themes, lol!

I'm actually still looking for SmartSettings, myself. Smartworld can be downloaded and unstated with the apk floating around somewhere,
SmartWorld can be downloaded directly from www-Lgworld-com through your phones browser.
The smart settings have been removed. On top of this it has been so poorly that ever time you plug in headphones into the stupid device google now or lg voice stupid thing comes up!
