[Q] ART vs Dalvik on Custom ROMs - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

I've just read about ART and Dalvik, since ART replaced Dalvik completely on Lollipop a question popped-up in my head. Is the ART option on CM 11 based ROMs are working? Are they supported natively, apps that does not work with ART? Any idead devs.. I wanna use ART since it's a new technology that needs to be improved to unlock its full potential. Please guide me accordingly. Thanks!

I've personally checked performance of ART with CM11 on my Redmi 1S. and what I found is ART is slower than Dalvik (atleast for now).

If you are using ART runtime, that happens. Else use Davlik as ART is not supported by the PA team. So if you have any issues while running your ROM runtime in ART the team may or may not take your bug reports into consideration.
I so far has reverted back to Davlik because of this, as I usually bake my own ROM on a nightly basis or when ever there is a big merge from the open commits.
Good luck.

Hope I'm correct in assuming you are using KitKat base ROM when you encounter this problem after updating these ROM and having ART runtime enable.
I also was looking around the cyberspace for someone to come out with this same issue as well. Maybe is an isolated issue, I encounter this issue on my Nexus 4 but not on my Nexus 7 LTE 2013. Even if it does happen on my N7 03 LTE is just a slight warm on touch, where else the N4 is like just came of laying under the hot sun.
I also notice during the creation of the cache files for the ART, more processing power is required to do this. Usually around 5-10% of the battery usage is observe on this.
Apologies PA team if this is really off topic.
does heating problem cause by dalvik/ART ??

You mentioned that it happen during after you flash/update an AOSP ROM and assume you have previously enable/using ART runtime, so in anyway it will regenerate the files for the ART runtime to use again.
During this operation your device may heat up due to the CPU crunching up the data to generate these files, again I am guessing this is what triggered it.

[Q] Is there is anyway to make n5100 ART supported device

FASTEST ROMS for Note 2 N7100 ? =)

Hello all!
Please advice what are the fastest ROMS for Galaxy note 2 N7100 that are good.
Eventually a faster Kernel advice would be nice too
I tried a 5.1.1 ROM and it was good to look at but very slow.
Now I'm using a 4.4.4 custom rom with some note 4 funcionalities (active pen button etc, that are very nice ..)
the speed is much better but it is still a bit slow and sometimes gets in the way of productivity, especially when the keyboard starts lagging etc ...
Please write some ROMs that are relayable and fast in your experience, thank you !
p.s. im not necessarily looking for an 'empty' system, more functionalities, google play store and more functionalities are always a plus in my view
Im using TW 4.4.4 ROM by AC and for me its the best and fastest rom fore N7100!!
Try it
Ditto Note 4 ROM (TW 4.4.4) and CM 12.1 (5.1.1) are the best uptil now.

Agreed.
wow! those are exactly the ones I tried! CM for 5.1.1 and it was beautiful an all but was VERY VERY slow, and now im on DITTO 4.4.4 the one with note 4 features, that is faster but still lags the keyboard often and is not snappy!!
*
I """upgraded""" from the original samsung ROM, wipeing ccompletely all the data, chace ecc, and im also using AGNI control to overclock the note2 and activate gaming mode on 4.4.4 DITTO and is still laggy!! what am i doing wrong??
up.
I need to fix this, how do i make ditto 4.4.4 faster, or is there a faster ROM all togheter please?
I'm using Cyanogenmod for Note 2 and its awesome.
This is my device details.

CM is not all that good YET for the Note 2. DN4 can be less laggy if your just remove some Samsung useless apps and tweak it a little. There are guides on the forum.

did you wipe system partition ?
Wipe cache, dalvik, data, system.
That might be the cause?
I always wipe system.

Okay so install Titatnium backup and remove those unwanted apps but remember you are a rom flasher, you better know that which apps could just make your rom non-accessible. And yeah try to free up your internal memory or you could just backup your internal memory and wipe internal memory then restore the important files that you want to keep.
I would suggest you a clean install with full wipe (system, data, cache, internal memory). Then uninstall those useless samsung apps.

CM 12.1/13 for Oppo Find 7 X9076 / new Display-Panel

I just got a Find 7(s) X9076 and wanted to install CyanogenMod.
If I take one of the official download page (which are all CM 13) the screen shows everything in wrong colors.
I think (so far I read this from the other threads) it's because of a new displaypanel.
Is there any CM that is working for this display?
What is the problem with this panel, when can I install from official CM-Page?
Best regards
gragib

Hi there! I think your best bet is to go and try omnirom either 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 whichever suits your taste.
Currently im running omnirom 6.0.1 on the new panel similar as you and it is absolutely great! I suggest that you should go and try it out.
Cheers!

Yeah.. As of right now, Maxwen omnirom 6.0.1 is the best rom for the newer type of lcd panel. Im using it as a daily driver and had not encountered any problems.
Big shoutout and cheers to Maxwen for the rom. :good:
Many THX for all replies!
I have now the omnirom 5.1.1 installed and its running very well.
New LCD + OmniRom = BSoD > Random Reboots // + Spectrum = Random Reboots
Hi guys
I really feel bad when i read your comments, and notice that you all succeed to get OmniRom runing smoothly.
I'm facing random reboots while using Omnirom (Spectrum also) with X9076 new LCD panel, and it get worst when it's charging.
Do anyone know how to solve this problem.
I already tried clean install by flashing last Spectrum (to get latest Modem & Firmware) then wiped all and flashed Omnirom 5.1.1/6.0.1, but it doesn't work
Also i saw somewhere that it will be good to reflash everything step by step so i flashed starting by ColorOS 1.2.9 then 2.0.8 then 2.1.5 then OmniROM but random reboots still occur.
Please guys help me, i cannot stand that anymore.
Hi, which recovery do you use? I flash omni (both versions) with TWRP (full wipes dalvik, cache, etc) and no issues, everything works fine, no bsod's, no reboots...
Cheers

I dont understand it mate, we have the same phone (x9076 + r63419 Panel) and the same recovery (2.8.7.2), but in my case this roms works great (5.1.1 and 6.0.1, both roms works fine)
Did you try to format data? Backup what you need and in the wipe menu, instead of wipe, try to format data, then flash the rom, the gapps, and wipe dalvik cache only before reboot. I dont know if this will work to you, but is the only thing I can think of...
I tried Spectrum rom too, and except for the known issues (camera, gps icon, etc..), everything else works right, no bsods, no reboots...
Good luck

that link is from wuxianlin, the best developer for find7 and oneplus.
It's a special version of cm12.1 released unofficially later the end of cm12.1 for find7 and it's for new panel.
I don't waste my time too, I have older panel so I don't have reason to flash It.

Nope you'll have apps force closing error
I just tried it nothing happend everything works perfectly
I switched from cardinal os to nitrogen 9.0 and no FC
Wiped system, dalvik, cache
The exact process if anyone wants to try :
Wipe system, dalvik, cache
Flash nitrogen rom file
Clear cache
Flash gapps mentioned in the nitrogen 9.0 op
And just boot (It takes time for first boot wait patiently)
# remember if you want to flash a rom dirty over another rom check if both have the same base i.e AOSP can only be flash over AOSP same goes for the treble support, if yes then most probably you won't face an issue
