kitkat for our lg - LG Optimus G Pro

hey guys ,recently i bought lg optimus g pro e986 ,build number JZO54k with android 4.1.2 and i'm looking forward to update it to kitkat . Is there any official firmware update or i still have to wait for OTA ?

there is no official kitkat for e986 but you can flash custom rom if you want

there's no official kitkat yet?or will never be?

There is an update. Flash E98620a with Lg Flash Tool. There is a tutorial how to flash kdz files

is the official update or is just a random rom ?

I've the same problem.. Searched a lot for it but it isn't there yet. Honestly i think there will not come an official update since the lg optimus G has already received it(in the netherlands)

I think its the same like an OTA. May you wont get 4g option, but installing 4gswitch gives
You 4g again

before i start ,do i need to have a rooted phone ,since i don't know much knowledge about lg

No,just follow this tutorial. I personaly prefer kdz.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420219

how do i verify from which country is my phone ?

and the last question : if i follow the instruction ,is there any chance to brick the phone ? i mean just open the lg flash tool ,put the phone in download mode ,choose the kdz file and then press cse ( for full flash and wipe ) and after i press start and wait till completed ,that should be all , right?

I installed jelly bean it just boot loops, it doesn't work. Also mine not going to stock recovery to factory reset. It just restarts.
Can I use this procedure without risk?
Sorry for my trivial questions, but English is not my language, I do not understand everything, and I help with Google Translator ...
I did not understand, I did not understand and I'm not sure if this procedure works with LG G2 D802 - 20f (Switzerland - No brand) - Android 4.4.2 (I come from 4.2.2 stock, no root...)
I clarify that in my 4.4.2 stock I have only root and in /persist there are no files "rct" and "rct.cfg" (I have ES File Explorer activated the "Root explorer"). For this obvious reason, the back-up rct fails ...
In hidden menu "LG RCT Check" I have the wording: "Disabled"
Can I use this procedure?
If you do not have the original files how can I make a back-up? Or ... there are generic files that I can use?
Thanks
I did that but is seems the unrooted label is a bit different from the original one. Am i wrong?
Thank you! @somboons

it really dosent matter if it says rooted or not ... since even if you never root your phone but just use repair/recovery option in lg tool, and BTW that's allowed by LG , you will end up with "rooted".
i've sent my lg for a rapair under a warranty with rooted status and it was all good, they fix the issue and didnt care about it at all.

If you are using the final build of the Android L KDZ then you'll be fine to flash it from any version as the KDZ contains all necessary files. @autoprime has confirmed on his twitter feed that this update does not implement anti-rollback so you should be fine to downgrade and Bump in the future if you want. Hope this helps!
But I'm not using the final build of Android... I'm asking if I can upgrade to lollipop, when it's officially out, instead updating to 10L and then update to Lollipop

I said the Lollipop update contains all necessary files. The final KDZ is what they will push when Android L gets officially updated on your device, or a TOT or .dpkg. You will not need to update in between as you never do inbetween major system updates. If an official update ever has dependencies, it will not let you update without them so don't worry. You would be able to jump from any version you like to Android L. Like I said though, we will have a ported version of Android L long before the official update. Also, although @autoprime has confirmed the release of Android L for the D855 does not implement anti-rollback, this does not mean that other variants will not implement something to keep us from going back to previous software versions, then you may be stuck with Android L but no root or TWRP permanently. I can not emphasize enough how much I do not agree with taking any official updates if you are the slightest bit interested in root or custom roms for you phone.
Also, you only get notified if someone directly quotes a post of yours or if you mention someone by username using @ like I did for @autoprime above.
If I've helped, hit the thanks button!

If you want to update officially with the KDZ, the best option is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799647
Just use the tool and official KDZ to ensure everything is wiped and completely updated.
There is already a rooted Android L .zip ready to flash via TWRP that is available in the General G3 Development thread. Good luck with either route.
Love you.

His twitter feed Auto(utoprime) shows recent tweets where he bolded the fact that it does not implement it.
https://mobile.twitter.com/utoprime
It's a few tweets down and it specifically says the D855 20A update does not use anti-rollback.
did LG?

I would root right now while you have the chance and install a custom lollipop rom.
After the official lollipop gets released by LG it will lock your bootloader, If you already have it unlocked.
Also it's rumored that root may not work on the G3 after the official lollipop update.

I think CloudyG3 1.2 -=- [All Variants] might work for you as a custom rom, He hasn't released lollipop version yet, It's still on 4.4.2 for now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-cloudyg3-1-0-t2917467
But when he does release the lollipop version it will be rooted!! and you will still have your bootloader unlocked!!
This is the rom I'm waiting for on my D852 since I'm pretty much in the same boat as you when it comes to not much development for my model.
You will lose root or bootloop if you OTA while rooted.
I've seen a lot of people get their G3's stuck in a bootloop from accepting a OTA while bootloader is unlocked too.
Personally I would just avoid any OTA's for now and stick with stock 4.4.2 or a custom rom, I'm itching to try lollipop too, sooo bad. but it's not worth being locked down!!
