I had a problem after installing Omega rom coz my device will freeze every 5-10 minutes and i had to manually reboot it.
Then i tried other several roms (stock 4.4.2 - Blacktox - Ditto DN3) all with the same problem..device keeps freeze.
Tried all recoveries (stock - Philz - TWRP - CWM) each with all possible versions but the same..
Tried a lot of kernels with the same problem
Bootloader is MJ5.
My old firmware was 4.1.1 which i had a backup of...n when i restore it goes as smoothly as it was before with no freezes.
Ive had all the wipes n resets possible (Wipe dalvik n cache cache partition n system n data n preload n factory reset n even zoots wipe script) but the same problem...but i had notice that after flashing the new rom n doing dalvik cache when i reboot a message appears (optimising 1 from 270 applications) which is strange i think..after full wipe n mega wipes n factory reset n zoots wipe script how come it recognizes the apps that were installed on the old rom !!??

Hello.
I tried my very first flash on my very first Android with RebelRom 3 and now my screen and touch keys won't work. I tried restoring the backup I made but it still won't work
I used CWM to wipe cache then wipe factory settings then I applied the .zip I then read that you had to wipe dalvik cache. I wiped cache then dalvik cache then factory settings. But I remembered I read that you wiped system. I wiped system and data and wiped cache, dalvik cache, and factory settings. Then RebelRom worked but touch won't work. I did steps same as above then I restored backup from external sd. It boots normally but touch still doesn't work. What should I do? In what order do I do the wiping? Can I have from A-Z guide on this as this is my first Android and flash.
I don't have too much experience.. but i'm having my Galaxy W for 3 months and i've flashed Custom Roms over 20 times and this problem never happened to me..
So if you got no help here.. i think you should restore your STOCK Rom , flash the STOCK recovery and Make sure your device is UNROOTED..
and get it to Samsung
And If you want to know when to wipe system and data and wipe cache..etc
You should always follow the instructions ,, and it is not bad to wipe factory settings and Cache everytime before flashing new Rom [As i do]
And anyone correct me if i'm wrong
Flash stock rom using Odin
If flashing new stock rom doesn't fix your problem, go to Samsung center.
Btw, flashing using Odin will make your device unrooted back.

You can try this:
Download any other ROM to your phone.
1) shut off phone
2) press volume up and home keys and press power
3) when you see CWM, release these keys
4) wipe everyting
5) install ROM
6) reboot
If the problem isn't solved, try download to your PC any firmware, pressing volume down, home key enter to Download mod and flash original samsung firmware.
If the problem isn't solved yet, go to the service center.
Good Luck

Get TWRP Recovery
Wipe System, data, cache, dalvik, factory reset (wont delete anything from Internal sd) and/or... format data (deletes internal and everything but not extSD but I recommend doing this format)
Then fresh install a ROM
This should hopefully fix all problems in the phone..

What recovery mode your using , Use TWRP, while installing rom , make sure you Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, and factory reset, and then install the Rom should be able to install it without any issues , Usually you get this error if your not following the OP instructions as mentioned please read the OP in how to install the rom.

Guys,
Need your help. I am unable to install any Android 4.3 ROMs in my G Note II. I have tried PA 3.99, ProBam 4.4.1, etc. but all of them getting stuck right at the boot animation screen. Here is my status and what I've already tried:
CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3.5 (latest one available with 4.3 support)
Tried Android Revolution HD Super Wipe Script
Tried Factory Reset + Wipe Cache Partition + Wipe Dalvik Cache
Tried formatting Internal Storage
Tried the method: Factory Reset + Install ROM + Clear Cache/Dalvik + Install GApps + Clear Cache/Dalvik
Tried multiple wipe cache + wipe dalvik cache combinations as suggested in forums
Still no dice. I am stuck at the boot animation screen. If I install any 4.2.2 or 4.1.2 ROMs, all goes perfectly fine.
I had installed a 4.3 ROM previously, then reverted back to 4.2.2 for stability. Now I want to try 4.3 ROMs since they are much more usable now.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It looks like you need to include a wipe of system partition when you perform the full wipe procedure, or as just recommended using philz recovery, use the wiped data/factory reset: Clean to install a new rom.

I got nandroid backups taken using CWM. I believe, if I move over to Philz, I might loose the ability to restore them, right?
No other method to do this using CWM? I can try formatting /system if required.

AFAIK PhilZ recovery can restore CWM backups. To be sure you can create a new Nandroid backup after installating PhilZ recovery.
(TWRP is the best for me )
Anyway do you flash a custom kernel or a mod/theme?

Nope, I never go for customer kernels or themes. Happy with default kernels.
I see.. Lemme try Philz recovery and wipe the system and retry installing PA 3.99.

That worked! I installed Philz recovery and used the "Clean to install a new rom" option under "wipe data/factory reset".
Basically, I had to wipe the /system partition. I was under the impression that it was /sdcard. But now in love with Philz Recovery with all those options, along with the goodness of CWM Recovery.
Thanks a ton for all who helped!
Happy for you
Hello, since I upgrade my Galaxy Nexus ( maguro ) to Android 4.3, I can't flash any kernel. When I boot, there are a lot of force close of PhoneUI, and my phone turns off. When I try to restart, he is locked on the bootanimation.
Things I tried :
-Wipe data + Flash Rom and gapps + boot + Flash kernel
-Come back to 4.2.2 ( same problem, even though I try to flash a 4.2.2 kernel )
-Flash the Factory Image in 4.2.2 and 4.3
What can I do ? Please help me, I'm desperate
( Sorry for my bad english, I'm french )
Try doing a full wipe, install ROM/GApps, boot, reboot, then kernel. My routine typically goes:
Wipe cache, Dalvik, system, and data.
Flash ROM
Flash GApps
Reboot phone
Once phone is booted again reboot to recovery
Wipe cache and Dalvik
Flash kernel
Reboot and done.
Never had a single problem doing it this way. May be a few unnecessary steps, but I don't mind as it's only a couple minutes at most.
So I use to install custom roms all the time with no issues, but on my last two android phones I have to Wipe Data / Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache and every time it wipes the OS, then I have to re-flash. I have done the following.
- Unlocked Phone
- Rooted Phone
- Flashed CWM Recovery
- Create Backup...Can only use this once I re-flash the phone,
Xperia Ion JB
I miss custom rom's lol, any idea`s...
Resolved!!!
This is how I have to do this and still not sure why, but I'm a rookie so...
- Root Device
- Install Rom Manager (Fix Permissions) - Reboot
- Install Busybox Application (Install with Smart Install)
- Install CWM Recovery
if I don't follow this exactly the wipe data deletes everything and I have to re flash.
