[Q] dumb question - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

bought a used N7 2013 .... pretty sure it was advertised as a WiFi model, definitely no mention of LTE.
anyways, i've been trying to sideload Lollipop, and it keeps failing when i do the "adb sideload xxxx" command.
after looking at the Google Factory Image page, and the Build number on my N7, i'm guessing i have the LTE version?
LTE = KTU84P?

lte
Yes, thats the kit kat for the lte, you should also see the sim card department on the side.

KTU84P was used for all the Nexus 4.4.4 builds across the 4, 5, and 7 (wifi & lte).
Search for it here - https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
It shows up on multiple devices.

yeah, i did see that. so i just can't get it to sideload Lollipop. after dealing with driver issue, trying on Win8.1 and then a Win7 laptop, it loads, but then the tablet aborts install.
i'll wait for the OTA i guess ....

[Q] Flash non-LTE image onto LTE Nexus?

Is this possible? Would it just take away LTE capabilities? I'd be willing to sacrifice them for a bit to get some lollipop final build goodness.
Perfectly fine. I plan on doing the same thing.
Its not working on LTE have you been able to flash the FLO image on DEB?
I get the following error if I remove the WIPE option in fastboot.
Device product is 'deb'.
Update requires 'flo'.
Is there any update on this?
I accidentally got a DEB when I ordered a FLO- since I don't ever plan on putting in an LTE SIM, if it's possible to use FLO roms I'd much rather do that. Thanks
K
Anyone?

More to the OP, I'd never do this even if it worked. Mobile data in a device bought for just that is more useful than this update.

Nexus 7 2013 wifi still on 4.3

Hi.Sorry but i could not find any recent thread about this. The device still does not show any updates. Its still on 4.3!Is this normal?I believe it should have the lolipop version or at least kitkat. Thanks
Are you sure that you have the legit nexus 7 2013? This is not right for a nexus 7, especially this version. Could you tell me the model number?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Are you running stock? You typically will not be prompted for OTA updates if you're on a custom ROM (at least, not on wi-fi only devices that is).
You may also consider just upgrading by fastboot flashing the latest factory image. There are many posts around here from people stating that accepting the 5.0.2 OTA update killed their device.
Hi.Sorry for the late response.Yes stock.Build number is
JSS15R.
I'm considering to flash a cm12 rom.
Simply flash a factory image https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Make sure to pick the right one

OTA update LMY48T on WiFI version ?

Just received an OTA update and was quick to press Install but it was only LMY48T (from LMY48M, never rooted). Tried googling and all I see the 7 (2013) WiFi was suppose to go from LMY48M straight to MRA58K and LMY48T was only a security update for Nexus 6, 9, and 10 which was required before going to M. Should I still try to flash MRA58K manually?
I've just had the same. Odd isn't it?

Ditto
LMY48T has now appeared on the Google factory image web site. We must have received this OTA update before this was posted. OTA to 6.0 must now be soon.

Me 2
argh, ditto! I have a notification that an update is available, cool! 9MB only, the LMY48T
Even I received a quick security update for Nexus 7 2013 (LMY48T) and is listed under factory images in Google developers (developers.google.com/android/nexus/images) site now. Seems like Nexus 7 got that security update too. Also Nexus 4 got that security update(LMY48T) too.
So Nexus 4,6,7,9,10 got those updates. Hopefully will get Marshmallow update soon.
My Nexus 4 also got this update. According to the Stagefrigt detector app it fixes all known Stagefright vulnerabilities.
Your Nexus 7 2013 will get Marshmallow. Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 10 won't.
So is there a link anywhere for a, OTA link for the Nexus 7 (2013), from this new build number, {OTA update from LMY48T to MRA58K}? Where is the new link? / There seems to be one or more devices' with the LMY48T to Marshmallow, but I do not see one for the Nexus 7 (2013).

I too cannot find the appropriate Marshmallow OTA for LMY48T. I tried the update for LMY48M but that did not work.
anyone got a solution for this? cheers
This is so annoying. Is there a way to roll back the security update to sideload the available OTA, because otherwise it's getting a fingerprint mismatch.
Should be out in about a week

I messaged the Google Dev team on Twitter and they said it should be out in a week or so.
Installing the official Google marshmallow 58k factory image is no more difficult than installing a sideload 48t to 58k image.... Just install the full fresh 58k image and be done. Take control. You can't complain about not having the latest when it's there for the taking. You just have to do it.

I thought sideloading the complete image would wipe the device. That is what everyone is trying to avoid.
If that isn't the case, then bonus!!
any news on this?

No I haven't heard or seen anything yet. They said about a week or so, it might be a little longer still.
You can just tweet them yourself. @googledevs and you can also check the hashtag #ghelp as well.
I have the LMY48T trying to get to marshmallow, but surely something is jacked up with my system and adb.. I do i adb restart to recovery, and get no command, so i then i push the buttons to set to install a ota, on my pc says no device when i try to side load. weird cuz it let me reboot using adb.
Finally got OTA update and went straight from LMY48T to MRA58V and apps/games seem to launch so much faster.

Possible to flash sm-p600 rom onto sm-p605v?

So, I ordered a refurb sm-p600 Wifi-only tablet from Amazon, but I received a Verizon sm-p605v. Now they show out of stock on the Wifi model. Am trying to arrange a swap, but don't know how successful I'll be.
It's my first tablet and I absolutely LOVE it and don't want to give it up.
So, it's basically the same thing, but there are issues:
1.) Has Verizon junk all over it.
2.) Complains about no SIM card - if I put in a SIM card it complains about activation. (These don't appear to ever go away)
3.) Have to keep it in airplane mode or it will drain the battery trying to connect, if I keep it in airplane mode, at least one app (Accuweather) complains about no network
4.) And this is the biggest issue - can't check for new updates - I really want Lollipop so it matches my phone, but it basically says update is unavailable. I assume Verizon has it set up so that you have to pull updates only from them.
I'm never going to put this on a mobile plan and I'd really prefer to have the non Verizon tablet, but if I can't, is it possible to flash the stock wi-fi sm-p600 firmware onto this so that it thinks it's a sm-p600 - or is this a recipe for brick making?
I also haven't been able to find a sm-p605v lollipop image, so I may be out of luck assuming the answer is no.
I'm in a similar situation. I purchased what I thought was a SM-P605 (international version) and I got shipped a SM-P605V (Verizon edition). In my case, the vendor listed the device as an SM-605, but it was an SM-P605V. Further down in the listing it listed it as a Verizon edition, so that's the reason they declined the return.
Unfortunately, you cannot use SM-P600 firmware, as it is a different processor.
There is a way to update it to 5.1.1 though. When plugging the tablet into the PC, there is a Verizon utility for Windows on the tablet that lets you update the software. (it's based on Samsung Kies). I just did it yesterday. Works fine. I'm trying to figure out if I can put a non-Verizon factory Samsung image on it so I can at least have the option to put my own custom image on it (the Verizon edition has a locked bootloader, which prevents you from putting non-Samsung ROM images).
I personally am sick of vendors customization of Android to the point where it is not recognizable. Give us the option for stock Android...
After 3 attempts I finally got them to send me the correct Wifi only model, which works great!

Nexus 7 (2013) cellular still no update!

I have not used this thing in a few months so I decided to turn it on. I am currently running 5.1.1. I decided to see if there is an update for this device. No update! How is it that a Nexus device still has not been upgraded to 6.1? I thought the point of Nexus devices was to be updated quicker.

If you have not received the OTA, use ADB to flash the latest factory image from Google.
