Best Lean kernel version for note 3

My setup is something that needs a book to describe and how to get where I am. I don't use power save, I don't greenify, no uc, I do over clock and have a total of 190 apps which includes all essential system apps and my personal use apps. Think titanium backup and removing close to 175 apps that I never use. The only thing that is touchwiz on my phone is the dialer and calendar app as well as the camera.

Which kernel is the best out of the following 3. Lk 3.8, 3.8.1 or 3.12?

No problems with this Kernel. Anyone know when FauxSound will be included again?

Does this kernel support fast charge with trickster mod

Relatively new to ROMs etc. Started after the Samsung Note 3 4.4.4 upgrade borked my GPS. I play Ingress so GPS is critical. I found Dialler input string that made things better - temporarily only. It seemed to accumulate something that sent it downhill again after a couple weeks.
Unfortunately flashing the CM11 M8 didn't help and it totally borked my Dialler. I could answer calls but it would take a couple of minutes to get screen control back after the call, and forget about putting it into speaker mode - black screen. Meanwhile you had to hope the other person would hang up for you...
I installed a CM recovery and C-ROM and it kind of fixed the GPS problems - only kind of. And similarly for the phone calls. I know - who uses a phone to do phone calls right? But when you do, you want it to actually bloody work.
Unfortunately C-ROM seem to have bailed, and there's been zero contact for months.
So I'm looking at flashing Dirty Unicorns.
One thing I'm wondering before I start is, given the core system issues I've been having, should I install a different kernel? From what I've been able to read, it's the kernel that does the actual system interface, and the ROM is just the person-friendly front end. So perhaps the phone and GPS problems are kernel-related?
And if so, what one out of the files (there are a lot of them under the link) and how do I do that? Where does it fit into the flashing ROM sequence? I'm finding it pretty hard to find clear guidance on this.
Thanks for your help.

kernel lean run on lollipop beta ?
Hi I would like to know if the kernel lean run on lollipop beta ?

Deep Sleep with Bluetooth
Hello,
I was running CM11 M12 snapshot on my Note3 for a while and decided to flash lean kernel lk_hltecm-v3.16 . Right after the flash my phone wont go into Deep Sleep anymore if Bluetooth is enabled.
While it's enabled "msm_serial_hs_dma wakelock" is constantly running. When I disabled Bluetooth or flash back to the stock kernel everything is fine.
I even did a full wipe and flash of lk and the only app installed is Better Battery Stats and I still have the same issue.
Any ideas? I would love to use this kernel but it looks like this would kill my battery when my phone is not in use with Bluetooth enabled.
Thanks.

Hello cain i flash the 3.17 version on lollipop official TW?

Testing
Tested beta 4 earlier and loved it minus the sdcard issue. Everything worked on my n900t. Even my VPN and rdp apps that let me into my work servers worked as well as wifi calling...which is a must. Also all around fluidity was great. About to test beta 7. Looking forward to end results. Keep up the great work. I'll drop a reply and a log if I notice anything drastic that stands out but it looks like the finish line is close.

hello, does this kernel work with the exynos version of the note 3(sm-n900)? I'm using lollipop

Should I wipe dalvik cache before or after flashing the kernel or should I wipe cache and dalvik both before and after?

Has anyone else experienced an issue with moving the apps to sd following the update to 6.1 kernel? I flashed back to 6.0 and that function works ....maybe a bug of some sort?

(Which is the Stock Kernel of Note 3 5.0)
5. I downloaded Trickster Mod > Go into General > Under CPU Frequency Control > Max has only upto 190000 as the max available, with 25000 as the min.
Please please help someone, need to sort this out asap!

[ROM][ICS][STOCK] sediROM - non-dev discussion thread

.
.
.
sediROM - or why I created a new ROM based on the good old ("ancient") ICS
.
.
.
Long story short. The following list are my requirements to a custom ROM:
I need my phone everyday so I need to resist that it is working everyday (means rock stable).
I do NOT need the latest available Android version.
I WANT to have the other components (like Kernel etc) up to date.
I REALLY REALLY need headset profiles for my bluetooth devices (Jabra, Nokia and Plantronics)
I need root access, of course.
I want to get the best battery life possible.
GB is too old for me.
Stock ROM is "too stock" for me.
I have tried all available captivate ROMs starting from ICS over Jelly Bean to KitKat.
Android < v4.x are too old for my requirements. Several features missing and well it even LOOKS old..
Android >= v4.1 are working well with the Glide but there is 1 main killer function which is completely broken since Android 4.1: Bluetooth Headset Profiles
(The Bluetooth stack was completely re-developed in 4.1)
The version which is the best compromise of beeing fresh enough - but working like a charm is Android v4.0.4 (ICS)
The problem is.. there is no ICS based ROM out there which completely fullfill ALL my requirements.
So I thought it is time for me to create my own daily-use feature-complete and rock stable ROM for the Samsung Captivate Glide / SGH - I927..
IMO the best working and best battery saving ROM for the Glide is PACMAN ROM (used pac_i927-milestone.1.RC1.4.zip)!
The problem: the earliest version of it is based on Android 4.1 which is a No-Go for me because of Bluetooth HSP.
--> I recommend the mentioned version of PACman as your daily driver if you do NOT need BT HSP. I had it running several weeks without any problems but really great battery saving.
.. well that said I couldn't fork PACman ..
So I've downgraded to all available ICS based ROM again (which was VERY painful because of broken links to the apps because of different mount point names etc).
I have tried those all again (IcePOP, Cranium, Stock, DMans ICS, etc.) but no was "as good as" LiteROM (IMHO) - which I used several weeks before.
.. so +1 for forking LiteROM ...
The problem with LiteROM is that there are still issues and no further development is done on it.
Some of the major LiteROM issues for me (those are also the reasons why I first tried newer Android versions):
It looses the paired devices after a reboot ! (but that sounded to me like it can be fixed somehow)
The lags/waits when pressing the power button to switch the display on
Battery life is not the best
not the latest Kernel
many little things in the installer like it re-installs everything when only switching to another modem etc.
Nevertheless LiteROM is still the best base I can get (because it fits to my requirements best and is rock stable) and therefore I started in May 2014 the build of sediROM which is a fork of LiteROM v0.9.
UPDATE:
sediROM is officially available and have tons of fixes and enhancements inside. Check it out in the DEV thread:

what kernel do you use? Stock or litekernel?
Replacing kernel is very easy.
No documentation for BT sound, I dont think anybody would fix it. I've tried to find dev to find alsa HAL ( that is for voip sound fix), and no luck, while fixing alsa much more easier then fix BT sound.
Somebody tried to port cm10, it has many issue, you can find that topic in dev forum.
The idea for sediROM is to have a very well tested setup of default settings (like which kernel, etc.) but the free choice to modify it later whenever you like it.

Well not 1 only ... there are 4 available atm (and more when I find them and find them good enough...) (while using LiteKernel v1.2.2 as default atm - but you have the free choice)
Stock Kernel
LiteKernel v4.0 OverClocked and without UnderVoltage
LiteKernel v1.2.2 GPU not OverClocked and with UnderVoltage
LiteKernel v1.2.2 GPU OverClocked and with UnderVoltage
I tried with the ardatdat 4.x Kernels, too but without success.

Well yes and nowhere such comfortable as in sediROM You can choose one of the above within the aroma installer. The same for several Modems which coming with LiteROM already (nice for testing around).

BT sound? Do you have any issues here? For me BT sound itself is working great (using it daily in my car)?! But you talked about voip - is your problem skype related?

Oh no I said Bluetooth is generally working fine in Android v4.0 and therefore in sediROM / LiteROM but not in other ROMs which are based on Android 4.1 or higher
--> The only thing which are not perfect in v4.0 (or especially in LiteROM) is that Bluetooth Pairing are lost after rebooting.
--> ... and that is fixed in sediROM
Smashing! I have been roaming around for something like this! Bloody awesome! Let me know when you have the download link ready! I will be glad to test it, and if it is stable as stock ICS I will definitely keep it as my DD! Thanks in advance for this! If you say it is indeed a fork for LiteROM with no bugs it will be the s#$)!!! And of course a keeper. Same as you, I´ve tried almost every ROM available for our cappy, but never totally satisfied with none. :fingers-crossed: Hoping this ROM is what I have been looking for. What exactly did you fix, aside from the pairing issues? Any luck with the automatic toggles, Force close issues, deep sleep power button.... :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

whooa keep calm my friend
as said I try to solve all the problems I saw in my case and that's what I fixed. If that fixes all yours.. - I don't know
The thing which sounds interesting to me is that you talk about automatic toggles and force closes.
I never seen automatic toggles and force closes but it may be because I use another Kernel. Well we will see when you have tried it .
I cannot promise it is bug free (in this early state of this ROM there is at least 1 known bug - to be honest) but I may can help to fix things..
Rest and details coming soon...
I'd definitely be interested in testing your ROM. Your idea is more or less what I wanted for my i927. Hope to be able to try it soon.
xdajog quick question mate, which Kernel have you been using so far? Stock Kernel, Litekernel (version)?
I remember lite kernel causes battery drain in ics

Well that point is not totally fixed yet. I'm currently using Litekernel 1.2.2 in the not-overclocked version but also played around with the others - even Stock of course. That said I cannot say that I've found a perfect kernel (grakernel may the one but it is for JB and higher only ) and still testing others.
So the short answer is that there are not such differences between them when it comes to battery drain (see my post in the dev because that's one of the open points yet)
... and only to ensure that we have all the same understanding: sediROM is my experiment to go to / to get / to become the perfect stable but actual ROM for the Glide. It is "on it's way" you now
For becoming that I need feedback of course and I believe there will be many things I may not seen/use like you do so don't expect something "perfect"

You are really miss the point.
4.0 means android version not kernel version.
The litekernel package includes a boot image, that boot.img include kernel, ramdisk.
Ramdisk is the root on your android. Litekernel has some ramdisk modification too ( https://github.com/thegreatergood/LiteKernel---Glide/tree/master/Build4.2/ramdisk/sbin/ext https://github.com/thegreatergood/L...ster/Build4.2/ramdisk/sbin/LiteKernel_Manager )
Grakernel should work with any rom, it doesnt change ramdisk, just replace kernel and install modules to /system/lib/modules. I think modules in you rom is in /lib/modules on ramdisk, so you need to change my install script to modify ramdisk.

oh I'm quite new in that and a little disappointed now :crying: Well kernel v1.x is not for Android 1.x so .. in a perfect world the version naming would be everytime the same.. so everyone would know what it means... So I it may be the same as one of the 1.x LiteKernels available.

Hm so you say replacing the kernel, adding the modules and it should work?
I've tried that already but without success (booting but display keeps black with some green pixels ..)
As I can see in your link the Litekernel mods are note relevant for functioning or am I wrong? They seem to do some power saving stuff nothing else?

Litekernel has 2 version string, one from the build version and one from android version. Litekernel has some power save codes, it cases that deep sleep issue IMHO.
Did you download kernel from i9103 forum or mine from http://dualhoki.vim.hu/bubor/dev/grakernel/ ? Sound like you have i9103 version.

Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Regarding francokernel r398 for Maguro
Hi there!
I've just tried francokernel on my GSM Galaxy Nexus for the last couple of days and came up with the following conclusions:
When the battery is lower than 15% the flashlight crashes the kernel in a way that doesn't allow me to restart the phone unless I take the battery out and put it back in, also no charging symbol appears on screen after crash while the phone is still shut down.
After hanging up some of the calls (I was the initiator of the hang up) I'm not able to turn the screen back on by simply pushing the power button on the right once, I have to do this several times until it succeeds.
The drop down menu (dragging from the top) which usually reveals the notifications (depends on the side you dragged from) doesn't display anything in the settings screen, I'm talking about the WiFi and Bluetooth and battery icon etc. are simply gone and I have to use the settings menu in order to get to some of the settings.
I can attach screenshot is needed, for now I simply attached the file you requested from /proc/last_kmsg
Since I can't post links this is the ID on pastie dot org: …/9648280
Besides that the phone is exceptionally fast and the battery drains much slower which is pleasantly surprising.
Thank you very much, if you think there's a better way to report bugs for the kernel please inform me.
Overall perfomance of this kernel is exellent. But battery life is really bad((
FK updater + FML rom + Samsung galaxy nexus
Hello guys,
I just bough the FK updater - it says - unsupported device is there any way I can fix this?
Or is it just that I have the lollipop rom installed?
maguro lollipop
Is there a version of fk compatible with the new betas of cm12 for galaxy nexus? Thanks
Hello. I need help very much. Need kernel update boot.img. My friend, a very good doctor, asked to reflash a tablet. 4core Nvidia Tegra 3 DNS/Pegatron 110G, 10", IPS, Android 4.03. It is the same hardware as Fujitsu STYLISTIC M532 (see link to support page in the attached file)
I need kernel update- a file boot.img for this device for JB 4.11
The tested procedure of reflashing for Pegatron is to update kernel by franco.kernel updater (FKU) and then update from SD card by M532 firmware pkg with corrected 07 byte. Unfortunately FKU is no more compatible with this device, FKU old versions cannot connect to server. I need kernel file boot.img for this device - there is a good utility from 4pda.ru that also can update kernel (You can find a link in the attached file). I made a backup and took a risk to flash M532 version 14405 without kernel update. Now it hangs after boot but ADB interface works and recovery mode works. So I can make kernel update or make a restore. I need boot.img.
Many thanks in advance.
Aby chance to support OnePlus 2?

You need to have Samsung 4.3 Bootloader or newer.
Make sure you have the latest TWRP/CWM recovery installed.
Next, remember to backup your apps and your efs folder. That's something that you always should do before flashing anything.
Go to TWRP/CWM recovery via pressing home + power + volume up button at the same time.
Make a Nandroid backup of your working system, if you haven't done so.
Its best to do a clean install for any new Rom (clean installation recommended includes internal storage)
In TWRP Recovery hit wipe, and slide to factory data reset system. (Internal won't be touched fyi)
In PHILZ Recovery Format Internal SDCard (in mounts and storage) and do Factory reset (I will install a new ROM option in PhilZ)
(Reminder) Remember that everything you flash you do it at your own risk so do your research before flashing anything!!
Now find the location of the Rom on your external and install it.
Flashing the Rom zip.
It should take less than 10 minutes till it boots...

Xposed Installer Credit : Author(s): rovo89, Tungstwenty
This is the installer for the Xposed framework, which is a requirement for all modules.
Xposed is a framework for modules that can change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs. That's great because it means that modules can work for different versions and even ROMs without any changes (as long as the original code was not changed too much). It's also easy to undo. As all changes are done in the memory, you just need to deactivate the module and reboot to get your original system back. There are many other advantages, but here is just one more: Multiple modules can do changes to the same part of the system or app. With modified APKs, you to decide for one. No way to combine them, unless the author builds multiple APKs with different combinations.

So does this mean that you have to flash the ne1 ROM (buttnaked or full) before flashing this one? Also, how has agni kernel been behaving on 4.4 lately? I shied away from using it because of all the freezes and reboots awhile back. I'm using a 4.4 ROM whose kernel is stock based right now, but the network type within the APN keeps switching LTE off on me, and it's driving me nuts. I love it, but I also love your ROMS, I used your mk6 ROM for a very long time and always keep it in my back pocket. I might give this NJ1 build a shot, since it's an ATT base. Thanks in advance. ?

I used the NE5 as base and patched the NJ1 OTA. So you can just flash it all by itself. It does not have the kernel, but it does have the NJ1 modem.
DoctorQMM has been chatting with Bajanman and he suggested do not go over 4.2.8 kernel.Doc has been running it for a few days and it's doing fine on his phone. But you know, every phone acts different.
I've been running 4.2.5 since it came out. I just loaded 4.2.8 last night. It's running good. I may add it to an update, only thing I see right now is removing a couple of Knox files I missed.
I'm messing with the AOSP 5.0, should be done with the Almost Naked today or tomorrow. Thought I was done last night until I flashed it.
I lost track of my builds ober the last week and the build I'm messing with had the newer Play services and store.
It was a train wreck when I tried to get into Play sotre.. Updates worked fine and it's running now, but it's half assed if I release it like it is.
I dirty flashed this over the ne5 buttnaked v1 I had installed, and it works flawlessly. I had some crashes on the ne5, but none so far on this rom. Thanks Dev...because of you guys, I don't have a need update my Note 2. Much appreciated.

No worries. Glad it worked.
Just out of curiosity, I did a clean install of this rom, but got the black screen as well. I had to dirty flash over the n5 butnaked rom. Not sure why this is, but thought I should mention it as well.

Did you install anything between the flashes? The only difference really is the NJ1 Buttnaked does not have a kernel and the NE5 does.

Use my 3.8.1 kernel. Super solid and stweaks is packed. Just fixed a boot issue with TW as it's dual boot but I've been running it on my Saber rom and it's been flawless. No SOD or RR. Kernel has updated LTE modem firmware too. Gave me an extra bar at home where I consistently had been getting only one. Make sure to get build 3.8.1 from AFH and not 3.8 on xda. I haven't been able to upload to xda for 3 days

Nadia n7100 kernel internet browser
Hello there,
After using Nadia kernel for some days now, i have noticed from the beginning of using this kernel that the stock Internet browser is laggy. No matter what governor i choose and no matter if it's on 1600mhz or else.
I have tried even default settings that come with the kernel, reflash the kernel, and reinstall the stock samsung 4.4.2 adroid.
It;s the same. with original kernel works perfect, it's perfect smooth in browsing.
What is wrong? i think the problem comes from the Mali blobs. i had to install them otherwise i got blank screen at boot
So I suppose development of this kernel has been indefinitely suspended? Any sort of timeline would be appreciated or confirmation that there aren't gonna be further updates any time soon. Thanks.

I actually consider that the kernel is already optimised and we have acces to every setting. the only issue about it , i think, is the mali blobs .. in the default android browser there is a lag. only there
The lulzactive governor is broken in the latest version (always craps out/locks up after prolonged use), pegasusq has issues with call screen lag and slow device wakeup and audio stutter when screen is off zzmove profiles don't stick when selected in Synapse, even moderate undervolting is not stable in version r7, currently using ondemand gov...so I guess there's room for improvements. All on Phoenix 18.8, deleted Synapse data before install, cleared cache and dalvik cache, deleted init.d scripts, makes no difference the kernel is great in functionality but it has issues.

on my n7100 4.4.2 stock rom, the pegasus works OK, the lulzactive has the cpu min and max lock on cores that's for sure.
the best way is to find out the best settings for you in Synapse, and after that, create your on init.d scripts and then is no need for the Synapse application to apply settings after boot.
The init.d scripts will gonna apply the settings you made at booting.
Dark screen
Hi! I need your help... i had this rom: DIAMOND ROM V 7.0L Based on XXUFNL1. It was working well. Then i have flashed your kernel v.7 and reboot the system.
This was 30 minutes ago. The screen is black and when i press some buttom, nothing. If i press it again, its vibrating two times, if i press it again, just one time then i press and it vibrates again and again. And if i press again the same buttom, it vibrates one time but on this time it´s longer the vibrating time.
What can i do now? I really need your help please... i have the latest TWRP installed.
Thank you for your time and sorry for bothering you.
Greets.
Flash mali blobs ! For blanck screen

hello folks.
sorry ive been very quiet the last week or so but ive been working hard on some new things (including that nice new lollipop kernel source for the G800F which is still In progress)
need to give a massive thanks to arkansawdave74 for helping with this and the build for the H model, and for helping give me the kick i needed to get back into android development proper.
but i have actually got some useful work to announce now
i am proud to announce the first BETA release of PAC-Rom for the Samsung galaxy S5 Mini LTE(G800F) (yes i have one for the dual sim H model aswell getting posted soon)
download links are below, and i will let others post screenshots etc as i dont currently have the time since im typing this late at night to get any.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS ROM IS FOR THE SM-G800F ONLY AND COULD CAUSE A BRICK IF FLASHED TO OTHER DEVICES
http://www.dmpwap.xyz/roms/pac_kminilte.zip
this is now using a fully up to date TardisKern with 1.7ghz oc amoungst other things.
please mention any bugs etc so i can get to work on them.
current issues noted:
selinux support is completely disabled
mtp(usb storage) may or may not work as my pc does not seem to want to play with any usb storage devices currently
working
phone,
messaging(mms/sms)
mobile data including LTE/4G
display and 3d graphics

Got it !
I used the rooting tool : KingRoot.
That fixed it.
But the system setting still doesnt work.
Also I dont like the camera app.
The CM Snap app is better
the setting worked fine here and still does so im thinking thats something on your end, as for camera i cant comment as ive used cm for about 5 mins and that will be all i ever use it for, cm is far too bloated in my personal opinion and actually seems to perform slower than touchwiz for me, and what rom people choose to use is always personal preference in my opinion
