I made the mistake of going somewhere hot and humid for a week. Now my leather band reeks so bad that I don't want to wear my watch anymore. I have tried using baking soda + water = baking soda paste and rubbing it all over my band. It did minimize the smell but not completely. Anyone have any advice or tips on this topic without replacing the leather band?
You could try putting it in a freezer in a sealed bag for a week (detached from the watch of course), same trick as with jeans

Heh, that's what the bag's for. But seriously, this is a fine trick to extend the life of any decent jeans that you don't want to wash too often and lose fit & color. The freezer kills off the smelly bacteria, and I'm guessing the same will be true for the leather strap.
That or some anti-bacterial deodorant, since it's just animal skin
Try Saddle soap

Anyone else have issues with the battery cover? Mine just slips off at the slightest force. For example if I pull it out of my pocket by the back of the phone the battery cover will slide off. Sometimes the cover just decides to stay in my pocket.
It's annoying!

You can also try the business card trick..... cut up a business card ( or other similar piece of paper) to the size of your battery cover and place it over the battery and slide the cover over the top. It will create a more snug fit and should resolve your slippage issue.

hey! that worked! thanks for the idea!
Sorry I dont post but this might help
Take 2 pieces of black electrical tape the with of the back cover. Place one piece at the top an dthe next right before the cover curves. That will latch on to the brackets on the inside of the the phone ...
Try it ; it is better then having a business card floating around in back of your $300 piece of equipment
$300 ?!? Damn.. you got ripped off. LOL!
Besides.. what's wrong with a piece of paper on the back of the battery ?

Yes he did....go back for your change
I used ticky tack! works amazing
I've seen somebody use double sided tape before... Needless to say he almost broke his battery cover trying to take it off!!
BUBBLE GUM!!!!
Clear snap on shell thats what I use. I dont use the included clip since I just put the Dash in my pocket.
scotch tape on the sides work fine also.
heres a crazy idea...
buy another cover!

Ha ha. That wont "fix" the issue. Covers are all designed the same. Its an on going issue with the Dash, seeing how it does not fit exactly in the first place (the infamous gap at the top), simply buying another cover wont correct the issue.
Personally I have not had the "slippage", but then I always put my devices in a case as soon as I buy them.
Why wont that fix the problem ? The cover gets "loose" and it bends out a little. This is why it slips off. A new cover will always fix the problem! lol
I am confirming a combination of two fixes. Cut a business card 1-1/4" x 2". Lay card on inside of back cover and use electrical tape, overlapping about 1/4" around entire card. Problem solved, very snug fit.

Shouldn't do as the batterys only get to about 35°C @ hottest, infact i would say it's near possibility or a fluke if you get the card to burn, this trick without the gaffa also works for if you have an extended battery and want to use the smaller one as a back up but not carry the other battery battery cover with you
Face it, why do we need screen protectors? To protect the screen from our pointy fingers? No. To protect it when we drop heavy objects on our EVO's? Lol, if you are doing that a screen protector wont help. To protect the screen if we drop the phone? That's what the case is for.
So why? The #1 reason we use screen protectors is to prevent scratching the glass when we put the phone in our pockets.
If you are like me and use a silicone case, that screen protector gets pretty scuffed up coming in and out of your pocket and lint sticks like crazy to the case.
Walking through the mall today I stopped by the sunglasses vestibule. There for $4 there were selling these little soft sunglass pouches made of microfiber. I thought hmmmm, pulled out my EVO, dropped it in and put it in my pocket.
No scratches, no lint and I can polish finger marks off the screen just by rubbing the inside of the pouch against it. Also, instead of struggling to grasp the phone, I just grab the top of the pouch and pull it out.
Anyway, now I can have my phone in my pocket without worrying about lint or scratches and I have a carry-along polishing cloth right there.
You can probably buy one of these at any mall. Give it a try.

I knew when I posted this people would rag on me, but seriously, it really does work.
of course it would...wrapping your phone in plastic wrap would probably yield the same results..
my girlfriend has been doing it this way the whole time she's had her evo. her hero just rolled around in her purse and got all scratched up. so for two days I didn't let her purse it. then we found this method works awesome.

Except for the fact that it would be incredibly impractical and look like hell. On the other hand this method is EXTREMELY practical and looks great. lol, can you imagine removing your phone from plastic wrap every time you wanted to use it? ** Fail **

Yep, I only wish those who are making fun of my idea would actually try it:
1) No more scratches on your screen, screen protector or phone body.
2) No pocket lint stuck all over your case.
3) Much easier to take out of your pocket (even in skinny jeans).
4) Super easy way to wipe the oil slick off your screen.
5) Much easier to remove from the pouch than from a snug fitting leather case.
6) Slimmest possible pocket solution.
Oh well, if they enjoy having their phones beat to hell that's not my problem.
Yeah I've known folks to put their phones in their glasses bag / pouch / sack. Not a bad idea and you do get a little touchscreen wipe as well. I usually use my shirt, soft material, to give it a quick clean.

The N1 came with a microfiber lined pouch. Worked just like the pouch you described. One of my favorite accessories for my N1. Wish the EVO had come with one.
I am using the little pouch that came with my MyTouch that is made of microfiber. The Evo fits(barely) and it does protect it like the OP says. I just got this EVO 2 days ago and am waiting for my invisableshield to come in the mail and am using this method until it arrives. It is a little inconvenient and the phone still could get scratched from the plastic thingy used to close the case if you are not careful, but all in all it works. By the way I got a full body invisible protector for free. I just paid something like $2.85USD for shipping. Great Deal!
Thanks for the positive replies. Since I have gotten my EVO purse (I feel like George Castanza) it is the first time I have been able to put my phone in my pocket and absolutely not worry for a second about scratching the screen.
Like Occam's Razor Theory says, "The simplest solution is usually the best".

Thanks op. Does anyone know who makes the N1 pouches? Maybe they have different ones for sale that say "HTC" on them.
via EVO.
Just go to your local mall and check out the carts where they sell sunglasses. They usually have lots of them to choose from for a few bucks.

Where I live, it is usually cold enough that you can wear a jacket. I always buy jackets with an inside pocket by my chest. As a result, I have a similar built in pouch in my jacket where the phone stays safe with nothing else touching it but material.
However, those 40 days where it's hot (in the 70's and low 80's), I have to find other ways...
I like to circumvent the entire dust issue by just using a holster.
Good idea, I've been doing this intermittently for months... Only bummer is that when the phone rings, you have to pull out from your pocket AND then out of the bag. The extra step has resulted in missed phone calls

I wanted a waterproof case for my S2 so I could use it whilst hill walking. I've used Aquapac cases before, so decided to try them out again with their Small Whanganui Electronics Case (348).
I haven't used it out in the wilds, or tested it's waterproofness, so I'll limit this post to simply providing some pictures for those wondering about the fit and what it looks like.
The packaging states it's touch screen friendly and it is. Playing around in the house I've had no problems using the phone. I even made a couple of phone calls and while it wasn't as clear as without the case, it was still audible both ways.
I wasn't expecting a window in the rear; but then, I wasn't expecting one side to be clear and the other grey. Maybe the grey is a tougher material?
RRP is £20, but I picked it up for £17.99 delivered.
Thank you very much this was exactly what i needed ! i will go into holiday next week and i wanted something different...now there will be no problem at the beach
waterproof bag
Before you seal it, do you try to squeeze as much air out of it as you can? Looks like the phone would shift around quite a bit when it's in there.
Has anyone tried a waterproof armband (thinking more for running than swimming). Would be good to get some feedback before buying...

My waterproof phone cover, DryCASE, is great and it comes with an arm band especially for water sports! DryCASE is a clear, plastic waterproof bag that uses a patented technology to ensure an air tight seal.
The basic DryCASE comes with an arm band as well as waterproof earphones.
Hope this helps!
well, you can try Winner Skin (Golovan) Reviewed by Jessica, tho the video show he use S3, I think they have for S2 also

Hey can I please know the name of the case (not the waterproof one, the case you're using for your phone).
Thanks
I have own of this cases: Aquapac
I have done snorkeling with it.
Its totally dry, this is the main purpouse and works well.
The problem for me is if you try to operate, with the pressure, it happens to me that the plastic becomes like it was a screen protector but it "touches" the screen so its really hard to control the phone, for example to take pictures, i do not pretend to call from under the water ... rolf XD
If i try to put as much air as i can it operates better but its not a proper solution.
Does it happens the same with the other ones?
by the way, I understand that the main use of them is just to protect not to operate under the water

Hello all.I am looking into maybe doing some hiking and wondering if anyone can recommend a water proof case for the one x? Preferably not one of those arm band ones. Ideally looking for a rugged ish case that I can use when it's hammering down with rain without fear of the phone getting wet or me dropping it on some rocks. Doesn't have to be a permanently attached case .
Thanks

bring an umbrella.
1* Case Mate Tough
2* Put the Case Mate in a long ziplock bag and wrap the bag around the phone.
3* Put the ziplock bag with the phone in it, in a gymsock and wrap that to.
4* Put it in a waterproof hiking backpack.
That's pretty safe if you ask me.
Offcourse, you can't pull the phone out in 3 seconds to take a photo, but when it's raining like bat**** crazy, you're not going to do that anyway.
Come to think of it, why would you go hiking when it is raining like hell?
lol, i wouldnt.. its more of a case of, if i happen to get caught short but still need my phone for maps etc.
Then an umbrella, your normal case and a waterproof ziplock bag would do.
Discovered touch works through a zip lock bag.
I motorcycle and swim (not at the same time lol)... Needed protection for my G note... And the zip lock bash is perfect.
I'm worrying this post with it in a bag.

Hey does anyone know of a reliable waterproof case for our phone?
I like to go fishing salmon in the fall and would like to be able to have my phone with me in my waders and not have to worry if it gets a little wet. I know the Iphone has some water proof cases. but do we?
I have not seen a dedicated waterproof case for this phone. Last weekend we went to the football game and it was raining hard so I used a quart sized freezer ziploc bag. Kept phone in my casemate tough case and touchscreen still worked thru the bag. Ghetto, hell yeah but phone stayed dry.
I actually seen one it was at the bait store/ marina i go to... Ill get the name of it... I dont think you can call with it but you can do everything else with it text surf web so on

+1 on the ziplock bag, saved my phone during a canoe trip once. Just leave a bit of air in it also not too much and it floats when it falls in the water. I'm sure a waterproof case wouldn't mean much if my phone had sunk the the bottom.
I'm always out in the rain with my phone (field training in the Army). I use snack size zip lock bags every time. It rubs a lot because of sand that get in my pouches or pockets but even if there are a few holes, there won't be too much moisture that gets in. Sometimes the bag comes unzipped, to fix it just tape the opening. Trust me, this phone has been through a lot! I have a zag (or zagg?) shield screen protector so the plastic bag actually sticks to the screen like a second screen protector
