Why don't you just do the normal way ? 4.4.4 update just out for your CID
Here is everything that you need : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55076383&postcount=1726
1. Make sure you have latest TWRP version installed
2. Download the nandroid backup that I linked above and make a restore of boot and system only, keep your data
3. Reboot to fastboot and fastboot flash stock recovery, linked above too
4. Reboot - check for OTA, download and select install
5. Let the system do its stuff, once complete you'll be on 4.4.4 version 3.32.707.9 with all your data intact

heres my new get var all

So ... do you really want to convert your device to EU version as you've changed the MID ? Don't want to stick to your original MID and do what I said above ?
If yes ... the step still the same but slightly different as you need to wipe all data
All you need is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54953139&postcount=1674
So :
1. Make sure you have latest TWRP version installed
2. Download the nandroid backup that I linked above and make a restore of boot, data and system
3. Reboot to fastboot and fastboot flash stock recovery, linked above too
4. Reboot - run the steup wizard then check for OTA, download and select install
5. Let the system do its stuff, once complete you'll be on 4.4.4 version 3.28.401.6 then agan OTA to 3.28.401.9

[Q] New OTA, completely lost and frustrated!

Hi guys!
few days ago I got this new update (3.32.771.3) on my device but as I'm running TWRP I couldn't just update it so I found my stock recovery and tried running the update but it failed at around 30-35% with a red triangle.
I tried doing a factory reset and of course that didn't work either. Tried installing Viper ROM without luck. Everything seems so damn complicated, to run this you need this and that and to install that you need something else.
I'm so lost and frustrated, what do I do?

You are super CID. Just update your firmware to the newest. The firmware you're using now is 4.4.3 based.
It's super simple. Go here to find out how.
Then load a 4.4.4 custom or stock ROM.
Easy peasy

You are super CID, so I would suggest non carrier specific firmware.

No, I have a Swedish carrier, my original CID was h3g__G04 but I could not find anything of use for that CID.
Do You have a suggestion on which firmware I should use?

You are super cid, so it doesn't matter UNLESS you pick firmware that is carrier specific.
I'm going to help you out here.
Download this with your phone.
Rename firmware to 0P6BIMG.zip (the first character is a zero, NOT A LETTER O)
Put renamed firmware.zip on your external_SD
Boot into hboot and let it update its firmware.
No PC, no adb, no fastboot, no terminal is needed, just a root explorer to rename and transfer the renamed firmware file to external_sd
After you have updated your firmware, make sure to remove the 0P6BIMG.zip from your external_sd because it will ask to update your firmware everytime your reboot to your bootloader which it is technically supposed to do but its unnecessary after you have done it once (unless you are planning on flashing firmware again).
Profit!
All credit for this goes to @skulldreamz.
I copied and pasted from his thread, because I didn't feel like typing it all out.
EDIT: And a huge edit buddy!
I just noticed your hboot is 3.19
You already have the newest firmware. LOf*ckingL!!

See your problem is here :
version-main: 1.54.709.12
modelid: 0P6B13000
1.54.709.12 should have 0P6B11000 not 0P6B13000
Not so sure which region has 0P6B13000 other than t-mob.
There is an easy fix for this, but first you need to decide on which region you want to stick to. You current one 1.54.709.12 is an Asian region device.
(Taiwan region device if I'm not wrong)
Since you're not sure the origin of the device, I suggest that you fully convert it to EU version ... whatever you decide, it still need some manual flashing but not OTA manual flashing (no worry on that)
I want to convert EU region

Nah .. you won't easily brick your device .. I give you the safest way to do it here :
1. You need to change MID to 0P6B10000. See this thread on How-To : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581
In order to do that you need to root your current ROM, I believe you know how-to.
2. You need to install TWRP and then download this nandroid backup : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54564526&postcount=1471
and you need the stock recovery too : http://sourceforge.net/projects/htconem8/files/Recovery/1.54.401.10_recovery.img/download
Restore the backup with TWRP .. boot to fastboot mode then flash stock recovery ... boot to system and run the setup wizard .. then check and do OTA until the last one is 3.28.401.9
Other option (but I never try this way ... so not sure about the risk of bricking) is do the RUU way (but you will lose everything on your internal/external memory so you need to do backup first) - see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/htc-one-m8-european-signed-ruu-0p6bimg-t2911563
Whatever way, you need to do part 1 first ... change MID to 0P6B10000
Still Unable to do OTA

Looks like only option remaining is firmware restored as per your advise.. Please if you have any other help other than that, pls advise
Thank you
Great that you managed to change the MID.
You still have system variant error because you don't do the part 2 ... you need to change the ROM installed to a EU ROM .. use the nandroid backup that I linked. You need to change your ROM version from 1.54.709.12 to 1.54.401.10 then do OTA (of course after you flash the stock recovery)
Another thing that I notice that you use old version TWRP .. maybe the toolkit that you use do not update to the latest one. Old TWRP has this empty version-main bug.
Use the latest TWRP 2.8.1.0

Another thing that I notice that you use old version TWRP .. maybe the toolkit that you use do not update to the latest one. Old TWRP has this empty version-main bug.
Use the latest TWRP 2.8.1.0

Hi
Thanks i am downloading nadroid backup and will restore via twrp..
Downloaded file should be on SD card to restore or can be done built in storage? Currently i dnt have sd card. i have 32 gb vesrion m8..
OMG ur time and knowledge really appreciated brother
You can put the backup in internal storage as TWRP can read from internal, external and OTG (you need to select right location). You need to extract the backup zip on your PC, copy the folder 1.54.401.10 to the TWRP/BACKUPS/yourdeviceserialno/folder here
Make a backup of your current ROM, you'll see where the backup location is.

RUU for Stock Lollipop

Hi All,
I'm slightly confused and I was hoping someone could help. My phone is European with SuperCID, so I'm guessing I can install any RUU from the EU that has stock lollipop and it will work? An RUU will flash my entire phone back to stock right, including recovery?

Just did it before your reply! Sorry I forgot to include it initially.
I saw it ... you have T-MOB US version-main on EU device.
If you want it to be stock EU lollipop 4.16.401.10, this thread is for you : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235
Or you can simply run RUU.exe - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B17smFr95pleeTQ5U1NzNkZzM0U/edit?pli=1
RUU will flash your entire phone back to stock including recovery
HTC One M8 - OTA Update Error
Hello,
Could you please advise me on this,
Recently i purchased HTC One M8 from Aliexpress,
And it is a TEST Device, Hong Kong Edition.
I tried to update through OTA but after downloading it shows, " Your phone running modified version of Android, So installation will be cancelled"
I read some threads and i find it more complicated, I don't know what is the actual problem itself. Help me brother please.

Android Version: 4.4.3

Post your fastboot getvar all result (minus serial no. & imei no.)

You should have 0P6B63000 for your current software version

Your device MID is wrong. You need to change it to 0P6B63000
See this thread on how-to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581
and the command that you need is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54909204&postcount=136
after you change MID to 0P6B63000, install the stock recovery and try the OTA again.. it should work this time provided you have a pure stock 2.11.708.2 with all system files intact.

Thank you so much,
I have two questions ( I am sorry if it sounds dumb, i am a complete novice)
1. Does this process require Unlocked Boot-loader or Root?
2.Install stock recovery? Currently i have Stock Recovery, Is that necessary to install again after changing MID? If Yes, Could you share the thread link please?
Thanks for your time. Appreciate your help.
1. It requires root. If your ROM currently no root, then you need to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery like TWRP to install root/SuperSu
or .. unlock bootloader, install TWRP recovery .. no need to install root and you can run the command to change MID while in recovery.
2. If you already have stock recovery installed then no need. But I believe you need to do as no. 1 then you need to reinstall stock recovery.
All the files needed are in my thread as linked in my signature : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

You can't run an older version RUU unless you have s-off.
If there is a Marshmallow RUU for your CID, it will work. You will also need to relock the bootloader (if you haven't already).
Otherwise, find a TWRP backup of the proper MM version number. Or just flash a stock/custom ROM to get the phone running again.

Instructions on how to restore TWRP backups is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
I see some MM backups are starting to be posted there. But it doesn't look like one is posted yet for 720.
TWRP-- 2.7.0.2
SuperUser--2.46
i got hands on to the OTA.zip file
this file---->> M8 6.15.720.2 OTA Update ZIP:
https://mega.nz/#!iMBBHBqS!pEKTGDGBk...BJ9g29H3KFAhDY
I'm S-ON....currently it says "No OS Installed"
Will be much appreciated if i can get assistance to get back to either marshmallow or lollipop.
and i just updated my TWRP to 2.8.7.0
What are the possible options for me..

Hello, First of all thanks to CKPV5 for the backups for my CID...
So when i try to restore the backup, the screen is stuck at "Restoring System" for 2 hours.. i guess this is not normal..
The following is what happened
1)Downloaded TWRP Backup ..This one-->> 6.15.720.2 https://mega.nz/#!mxZUADbA!y5Nc2PFk9...K5YlsZHdorQgXM
2)Extracted the backup on PC
3)Booted to TWRP recovery and made a backup of boot only(To check where the backup goes on my device).. it was in external SD in twrp/backups/Serialno.)
4) I enabled MTP on TWRP and transfered the 6.15.720.2 Folder to the twrp/backups/serialno.
5) Then i did a wipe of dalvikcache,cache,data,system(Did x3 times as i read somewhere)
6)Restore-- selected the 6.15.720.2 backup and swiped to restore
i waited for 2 hours+ and gave up.. So i downloaded another TWRP backup for my CID HTC__038.. i.e 4.18.720.8 Stock Unrooted ----- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=707
I tried the same above process.. The same problem persists... It's stuck at "Restoring system"
Did i do something wrong? Please assist.. Thanks a ton
Use correct TWRP version 2.8.7.0 or latest
TWRP 2.7.0.2 is outdated, won't work on MM.
Read again all 14 steps..
Also, don't install root/SuperSU offered by TWRP.
Later after all are ok, use only SuperSU 2.67 to root

TWRP version is really really old, like KitKat old.
I think you mean SuperSU version, as that number scheme is for SuperSU, and doesn't make sense for SU. And that number doesn't work for MM. That is the reason you got stuck after rooting.
Good rule of thumb, is always check on updated root methods after an update. The old root methods almost never work after a major OS update.

the install twrp and restore 4.18.720.8 stock nandroid. then again install stock recovery instead of TWRP.

I am stuck, i need to update my phone...

So I really need some help.. last time I updated my phone it was somewhere 2015 so I am totally lost.
In the picture you can see my settings. I am on viper 4.6.1 and I really would like to update to Android 6.0.
Because I am on viper I need to do a official ota.. I can't find y cid number anywhere. So I hope someone can point me in the correct destination. Or is it possible to do a clean wipe and install Android Revolution HD with already a Android 6.0 (or another rom with 6.0) then do a clean wipe and install the new viper 6.0 Android.?
I really hope someone can help me.

No it isn't, as your device is still on Android 5 firmware. ROMs based on Android 6 need the appropriate firmware to be installed first. To update your firmware you need to perform a backup or use a RUU according to your fastboot getvar all command (more precise to your current firmware, CID and MID), as you are still S-ON. Once done this you can take all available OTA to update ROM and firmware. Only after this you could flash TWRP and an actual Android 6 based Custom ROM. Only way to update your firmware to the latest one, and flash a Custom ROM right after it, would need S-OFF.

you have to go to latest firmware through OTA. as your device is a rare one. can't find a mm ruu for it (6.12.114.4). but you can update step by step through OTA. later you can install a custom rom.
1) restore 4.19.114.2 TWRP backup.
2) flash 4.19.114.2 stock recovery.
3) check update & install.

No it isn't, as your device is still on Android 5 firmware. ROMs based on Android 6 need the appropriate firmware to be installed first.

I haven't seen any issues posted about running MM ROMs with LP firmware, and in fact I've been doing it for over 9 months now. In fact, MM ROMs will likely work fine on the OPs phone.
Its not like when folks were trying to run LP ROMs on KK firmware (or MM ROMs with KK firmware, for that matter) which would result in broken WiFi and/or extreme slow boot/no boot. It seems not much was changed in the MM firmware.
But you are correct, in that having the most up to date firmware is best for ROM compatibility.

Yeah it was referring to my experiences an the M8 and M9 having long boot up times cause by some little issues between ROM base and firmware. To avoid such problems I always flashed the latest firmware, so I won't run into such kind of problems, just to make sure. Thanks for the heads up.
