[Q] US t-mobile m8 using HTC_001 firmware bands - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I want a 32GB version of the m8, saw US t-mobile version which the following bands:
2G NETORK: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900)
(3G NETORK; 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100)
(4G NETWORK: LTE 700 / 1700 / 2100)
I use UK EE 4G which uses a different band.
If I S-off and flash HTC_001 firmware will I get EU band support or are there these limited to hardware?
Thanaks in advance

Band support can be added (changed) by flashing the appropriate firmware. New with the Snapdragon 801 is that the band support is software based.
Although you might want to also change the ROM also, if not already. Your carrier and the radio might not play well with the stock ROM's build.prop. Its happened on other carrier versions (causing various network issues).

Changing Band on T-Mobile PocketPC 2003 (XDA1)

Hi,
My XDA1/T-Mobile PPC is on the XDA Developers SER 1.2 ROM and it has utility wherein I can change GSM mode from GSM900 to GSM 900/1800 to GSM 1900. I recently upgraded through the T-Mobile WM2003 ROM and Radio exe file. Now, I wish to have that utitlity again becuase now I am in asia and it is practical to have the GSM 900/1800. But I am also been goind to the US from time to time so I don't want to lose the 1900 BAnd. Is there a utility somewhere where I can change band?
I saw somewhere that I can change band via the bootloader: I am not familiar with the bootloader can somebody tell me how to change my band to 900/1800? Is it easy if I want the 1900 band back beacuse I'll be going to the states in a months time, and after that I will be back in Asia again (so I have to change to 900/1800 again). Pls help. Thanks.
BTW my device information is as follows:
Hardware Ver. PW10B1
ROM: 4.01.16 ENG
Radio: 6.25.02
try changing which rom you have, maybe that will change the band

Hi,
If your device is B type, that means it's 900/1900 MHz (plz refer to the rear sticker and don't rely on the device info data!) ... so, in Asia you are stuck with 900 MHz ... anyway, changing the band from the bootloader is not that safe action ... some times it make the xda hang a need a many hard reset actions to get back.
I would advice you to get XDA II which is tri-band by design.
The latest official US T-Mobile ROM v4.01.16 still allows the bands to be switched within the OS, whereas with the latest official US ATT ROM vA.30.09 said to be able to switch automatically.
Thanks for the replies. So it is not recommended to switch bands with bootloader?
reydiodj: What do you mean by switching bands within OS? Does that mean I can still get 18000 frequencies?[/b]
thanks for the replies. No need for me to change the band, my device already works perfectly now.

[Q] Australian Telstra Band / original firmware?

I know Telstra runs on UMTS 850Mhz in Australia, but at the moment it's also running alongside 3 on UMTS 2100Mhz (the more popular band).
My questions is what is the base firmware which has been loaded onto the phone? Is it the UK 2.21??? (which has bands 900/2100 covered) or is it another one?
Reason for asking is I've flashed back to UK 2.21 (don't ask why!) and now have found that I get my network reporting as "3Telstra" (which I'm guessing is UMTS 2100Mhz) versus what it used to report ("Telstra").
So question 2 then is if I'm running on 2100Mhz due to having the UK 2.21 sbf flashed, what should I flash to get my 850Mhz band back? Or how do i get 850 back?
TIA for any help all...
System version Blur_Version.2.26.0.MB525.Telstra.en.AU
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version EPU93ST2_U_03.03.00
Kernel version 2.6.29
Build number FRDNEM_U3_2.26.0
Try the following link to the telstra page to configure your defy for mms, and internet. I have used it many times myself after trying lots of different firmwares.

You could also check this out,

download link for a nandroid backup of the default Telstra. I have used this many times and flashed it over both 2.21 and 2.34 with no problems.

what phone do i have?

its a galaxy nexus, but not sure what one, i want to make sure i got the right one to work on rogers network, i was on edge for years on my nexus one
Model number :Galaxy Nexus (ENGINEERING)
Baseband: I9250UGKL1
so will i at least get 3g on rogers with this
You have the GSM version which is pentaband. Although it is a engineering version, not sure why these are being sold but I don't think there are anything wrong with the phone.
So yes... you'll get 3G.
Network: HSPA+ 21Mbps/HSUPA 5.76Mbps 850/900/1900/1700/2100 / Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz / (Band frequency, HSPA availability, and data speed are operator dependent)

thanks for the quick reply, so adding a custom rom is straight forward then i guess..
You should probably be happy it's an engineering phone as that should have real radio S-OFF.

Pretty much. Short version without too many details
1. install drivers for phone.. make it recognize fastboot
2. fastboot oem unlock
3. flash su.zip (or use superboot)
4. fastboot flash <clockworkrecovery>.img (or after unlocking and getting superuser, get rom manager and flash)
5. make backup
6. wipe factory,dalvik,cache
7. flash flash away!

Thanks for that, i never knew you could SIM unlock for free now, it actually worked with my Rogers SIM eventhough its a Bell phone. My problem now however is that it only works on Rogers, it does not work on Bell. The SIM is detected but cant make calls and this is likely because of a UK modem that does not support Bell frequencies. I need a North American Modem for Bell/Rogers and Telus.
Bell/Rogers are the providers? On what freq they are working? Because wave 1 is working on this
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
HSDPA 850 / 1900 - North America
I try to help but i think you need help from someoane who understand modem functions....
yeah i tried looking for compatible firmware for NA but have had no luck.

More LTE bands

Hi, i wozld like to buy this phone from Ali, but i need 800 Mhz lte working. He is saying that he can flash his cn version with ww rom and it will unlock 800 Mhz band. Is it possible or he is lying and i will not get 800 mhz working?
Edit: Zenfone 2, 4gb/64 gb
...Mi2SC
There are threads about it here, please search. So far no one has managed to unlock more LTE bands by flashing another ROM, a different kernel is needed but it is impossible, the bootloader is locked.
