[Q] Unrooting... - T-Mobile LG G3

Hello all, I'm looking for for help. I can't unroot my G3. I've downloaded the LG flash tool, LG drivers, and LG_D851.10C_TOT&DLL.7z. When I try to CSE Flash it will start but then I will get "LGUserCSTool LGMobile Application has stopped working". I've uninstalled and reinstalled the LG flash tool and LG_D851.10C_TOT&DLL.7z so right now I'm stuck. Thank you in advance for your help

Is your phone still fully functional? If so just download pc suite or the lg support tool. Hook it up and select upgrade recovery under options. It will put the stock firmware back on your phone erasing all system mods.

Okay, I'll try that. Thanks. I also have twrp installed will this method erase/unistall it or do I have to uninstall twrp first?

It will erase recovery, root, and all system mods. Last time I used it it erased my data too. It has never done that before so I dont know if something went wrong that time or if it was updated to erase it. None the less just keep that in mind.

Great is worked!

Hey I'm doing a JUMP! upgrade and need to unroot and reinstall the bloatware that came on my phone, what would be the best route for me to go? I did the Force Root meathod with that stump app or whatever, but no custom recovery or OS in installed, just rooted. I tried looking for this support tool but I can't seem to find it.

[Q] Unroot help

Sprint LG Optimus G android version:4.0.4 LG software version: LS970ZV9
A few weeks ago sprint pushed either a firmware update or LG pushed a software update, I didn't think anything about it and choose to update. Big mistake: I have now lost root, used root checker to confirm, also wifi tether no longer works, and root explorer will not r/w. Now my problem is I still have supersu and can't get rid of it, also wifi is acting strange.
I have tried the following to unroot: factory reset both software and bootloader methods neither removed supsu, went to supers and tried uninstall, also just tried to reroot, but no success.
I would like to unroot or perform a factory reset which gets rid of supersu and root. Then finally reroot, I have no problems losing everything and starting from scratch. Can someone explain to me how to do this?
Update: Thanks to javskies - I have used LGNPST to revert back to V7 of firmware and now have root again!!!!!!

Chances are pretty high that your root method installed supersu into the /system/app directory (which is ro) therefore, the only way to remove it, would be to root the phone and mount it as rw. Or as the above says, downgrade then root then next time not upgrade.
above has a name:crying: lol

Yes I have continued reading other forum posts and it appears I updated to build #ZV9.IMM76L which has no root as of yet. Can someone explain how to revert back to V8, once again I have no issues with wiping phone and starting other, I don't have a stock rom, nor do I know how to push one to my phone.

Well, most root methods (including the one I used, found here) install supersu or superuser to /system/app so it would be safe to assume that that is what his core issue is (not being able to uninstall it, because it's in the system partition, which is now read only)

Make sure, or recheck USB bugging. Or your drivers didn't install right.
Type " adb devices" and see if that works.

Can't unroot
Can't find a method to unroot from zv9 rooted. LGNPST recovery freezes at 4% once it actually starts to push the recovery. GAIO isn't compatible with zv9, so no help. Also tried pushing zvb update through TWRP then CWM with no luck, they fail when they try to open the zip.
You don't need to unroot. You need to relock the bootloader though.
In the irc, they have a method to update thru TWRP. If you wanna try that.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I relock with freegee? right?
Was a little worried when it still went into TWRP after restoring with freegee, but gave it a shot installing anyway. I installed the "update.zip" file from sdcard not cache and it still worked. Now running ZVB with root thanks to VooDoo's OTA Rootkeeper!
Thanks for the help engine95!

I can't believe I forgot about this option. But run as admin/not as admin. So right click fiddy619 root, run as admin.
This seems to be the most common problem.
Let's hope this works.

This is going to make sound kind of dumb, atleast very uninformed anyway, but, is my phone rooted now? or did the factory resest somehow get rid of the stock rooted rom that i had last flashed?
my phone has android version 4.1.1 on it now, it just downloaded 4.1.2 i think. Should I let that install?
Thank you guys very much for wasting your time helping a newb like me, it is greatly appreciated.
Thank you again,

Check supersu or superuser if it is installed and it will twll you if you have root. Factory reset from recovery will not remove root. As for updating to 4.1.2, that is up to you. The update may not go through if you have root access, but there are other ways to update if you want to.

supersu is on my phone and it appears to be rooted (I think.)
When flashing a rom such as paranoid android, do i have to do it from a specific andoid version on phone? If I don't need to be in 4.1.2 to flash the PA rom that is based on 4.2, then I won't bother with the update.
Thank you,
GK
It doesn't matter what firmware you are flashing it from. If you are going to paranoid you don't need to update.

After flashing paranoid you will likely be met with more force closes or even be stuck at boot logo. Just wipe again and you should be set. Good luck.

Paranoid android installed and working 100% (as far as I can tell, haven't done much yet.)
Looks and seems amazing so far, runs very smooth, hope battery life is decent as well.
I got rom manager from the playstore as well to make switching roms easier.
Quick questions about the Gapps package I got though, will that be compatitble with any rom? Or do roms always have their own Gapps pack assoiciated with them.
Thank you again its been a hell of a ride this morning.
Sincerely,
GK
You just need to be sure that your gapps package is for 4.2.2 or 4.1.x or which ever AOSP Rom you chose. There are not different gapps for each style of rom.

[Q] Upadating Question

Hello XDA Developers! How are you doing?
I just got a Notification that, an update is available for my N7 2013. I guess it is the 4.4.3 one.
So, I rooted it with the Nexus Toolkit when I got the Tablet and have since then gotten around playing with Xposed (GravityBox[KK], Youtube AdAway, Instagram Downloader and AppOpsXposed).
My Questions now are the following:
Should I just OTA Update or should I take my Nexus Toolkit and use that?
Do I have to uninstall all the Xposed stuff? (everything on the latest stable version offered to me)
Is it necessary to Root again or is the Kernel still rooted afterwards?
Any resets necessary? Just a cache one?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
Best Regards

Thanks allot! Read through but still got some questions:
If I want to OTA I have to go completely Stock I understand this now but, if I use the Nexus Toolkit, do I still need to Uninstall everything Xposed related and go back to stock first? Or just uninstall everything Xposed and continue with the Toolkits FW Flashing and afterwards re-rooting?
OR just use the Toolkit and everything is good to go?

Not exactly sure how the toolkit works to update. I don't use them since I'm not a fan of toolkits. If it just boots you into custom recovery and flashes the OTA, then you need to be stock (with Xposed Framework uninstalled). If it boots you into the bootloader and fastboot flashes the individual image files, you don't need to uninstall, but you will need to reinstall/activate the framework after booting into 4.4.3. You'll also need to re-root, unless the toolkit does that for you too after updating.

[Q] custom ROM help with v5002d

Hey all,
Just got my Gpad 8.3 v50020d kitkat 4.4.2 yesterday. Trying to flash a CM ROM preferably, but having nothing but issues.
I was able to get TWRP 2.8 installed, and make a backup of stock. Have been able to wipe and restore no problems. But everytime I try to flash cm-11-20140910-INFECTED-v500 I get a failed error. Also, can't flash the KitKat gapps-kk-20140606.
Never had problems flashing custom ROMs on my ASUS tablet, galaxy S4, Hisense tablets, so a little guidance would be MUCH appreciated.
I must be overlooking something...please help all.
Thanks so much.
jt
V500 is very tricky tablet, i had issues too, but after few tries i was able to install slimrom, latest weekly build. The newest TWRP is a must, you can't install any ROM without it, so there is probably your problem. If not, try to wipe. First factory reset and then advanced wipe and check first 4 options I think. Flash ROM and it should work.
But I want to ask you - don't you have unmount SD issue? If not, try to monitor it after flashing ROM, it can appear and it's pain in the ass
Well I do know if you take the 4.4.2 OTA after purchase or you buy with 4.4.2 installed,
Its 10 times more of a pain to root/recovery/rom on 4.4.x base, it's a lot easier on 4.2.2 base.
As for TWRP I'm on 2.6.3.2 and never had any problems.

Appreciate the replies all.
After wiping again, I tried flashing CM 11.0 Nightlies and it worked without a hitch. Also flashed the same gapps zip but this time it worked. I don't know whats up, I was having external SD issues so I put the ROMs on internal storage as well.
Now that its all up and running, I have root, and no problems accessing external SD card. Also, knock on works as does my smart cover. Couldn't be happier. Incredible battery life and amazing speed.

probably the easiest way is using this TWRP Manager (ROOT) app from the Play store. It will allow you to install TWRP onto your rooted, unlocked bootloader device.
I did it a harder/longer way without the above app so try the TWRP Manager app first.
Good luck!

I would download the TWRP (for our device) of the xda thread to be honest,
And flash manually through a flashing app off Google Play (I use Flashify, but there a few on there)
In theory if it grabs the TWRP file for the V500 it would have the Loki patch in the recovery file, but I wouldn't take the chance just in case it grabs any random file lol
Manual is the best on the tablet itself, or do it through a PC and push the TWRP file through ADB to the recovery partition.
But now-a-days you just run the .bat files and it does all the mumbo jumbo for you and reboots straight to the recovery.
Hope all goes well!

You're rooted right?
My device has an unlocked bootloader. Does yours say the same?
Which version of twrp are you trying to install?
Once above is done try using twrp manager in the play store.
Let me know how it goes.
How do I unlock the freaking bootloader? I have root and twrp but cant boot into it because of the locked bootloader
I am in the same boat. I have rooted my device and I can't get any further.

I have root access but lack the ability to boot to recovery!

I'm currently running the stock Rom with build E98020h. I have successfully achieved root access and have verified it through several apps, and also have supersu installed and seemingly operating fine. I have tried using the 'g pro kitkat recovery' app to flash the recovery, and also freegee but freegee at the opening screen says my device is unsupported. When i go into rom manager v5.5.3.7 and try install a custom rom or even just tap boot to recovery i get an error at the loading screen with the LG logo and it sits there. Am i doing something wrong or is the 20h update keeping me from being to successfully reach recovery? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

20h may be blocking you off...
You could try using LG Flash Tool to go back to stock 4.1.2 (E98010k) and then using FreeGee to bypass and go from there. But idk if that'll work.

aidenthefirst, or anyone else....
You ever figure out how to load recovery on the 20h update? Id also like to install CWM or TWRP without having to roll back to 20g.
Thanks.

I don't think that's possible. You're going to have to flash back to an older version using lg flash tools. If you need to back up anything like texts and contacts, use G Cloud. If you need game data/other data related to specific apps backed up, use Helium. If you're attached to stock try flashing a stock ROM, it will be very similar to your experience now. That'll ensure you get the latest KitKat and still get stock experience... you can always go AOSP too.
thanks... I was hoping to just not have to Flashtools my phone again =P and since its been a while since I checked the forums I wasnt sure if 20h was sorted out yet or not.

I found the way to do it without having to roll your system back to anything older than 20h. Let me type it all up And make sure I have the proper links and app names and will post in a bit

OK so after you achieve root access on your phone download the apk in the link below. Install it open it and run it. You should now be able to have full recovery access...

So apparently I haven't posted enough in threads to attach a link from outside this site. PM me for the link.

This is the link i found to download the app I used on my e98020h to unlock recovery. I hope it works as well for you all as it did for me.

So I'm running into another problem and after a lot of 'googling' I can't find an answer. But running purely stock unrooted and my SD card reads and writes fine. Now that I have rooted and fully obtained recovery access my phone will not recognize much less use it. Any suggestions?

I found this elsewhere trying to unlock my e980 that was on 20h when I got it.
OK so I found that G Pro KK recovery elsewhere and installed it but wasn't sure what to do from there.. Which option did you choose when running it? Flash recovery, reboot, or reboot recovery? I tried to reboot to recovery and I got into a CWM recovery, but at that point wasn't sure if I was really there or if I needed to flash the recovery from there or from the app.
I'm dying to get rid of the stock ROM on this thing but there are more steps involved than my previous devices.
Thanks!

All the APK does as I have found out is 'unlocks' the recovery access. After I ran that app I installed Freegee from the app store and installed the CMW recovery from there just to make sure it all was installed and correctly accessible. at that point you just need to download the ROM that you are intending to install and download it. put the zip somewhere in your directory. boot to recovery wipe the necessary mediums and then install from the app and CWM will take care of the rest. Most of the forum threads that have the links to the ROMs will have full instructions on how to install that certain ROM. I can supply links to some if need be. NOT MY THREADS but ones I found helpful.

installing the ROM isn't an issue for me, it's getting the recovery installed.
What process did you do after starting up the G Pro Recovery app? install recovery, reboot, then run freegee?

Yes. Open and run the G Pro Recovery app, once that is done you need to reboot. Install Freegee and open it. I installed CWM. You can use whatever you want. Then I reboot again, once the phone comes back up I used clockwork mods recovery manager to get in and out of recovery. Also, I pulled my SD card out of the phone prior to rooting as I would lose access to it after I did the process. So just to be safe you might want to do that.

Once you take the update then root your device again you have to do a factory reset on your phone in order to flash a recovery. Currently running E98020I, been there, done that! G Pro KitKat then FreeGee. Mic check 1 2, 1 2

If you just want to install the recovery, get an app call flashify from the play store. Install the app, then download and then flash the twrp .IMG file that you've gotten from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3144369
