[Q] Unroot help - Sprint LG Optimus G

Sprint LG Optimus G android version:4.0.4 LG software version: LS970ZV9
A few weeks ago sprint pushed either a firmware update or LG pushed a software update, I didn't think anything about it and choose to update. Big mistake: I have now lost root, used root checker to confirm, also wifi tether no longer works, and root explorer will not r/w. Now my problem is I still have supersu and can't get rid of it, also wifi is acting strange.
I have tried the following to unroot: factory reset both software and bootloader methods neither removed supsu, went to supers and tried uninstall, also just tried to reroot, but no success.
I would like to unroot or perform a factory reset which gets rid of supersu and root. Then finally reroot, I have no problems losing everything and starting from scratch. Can someone explain to me how to do this?
Update: Thanks to javskies - I have used LGNPST to revert back to V7 of firmware and now have root again!!!!!!

if you plan on rerooting why not just lgnpst back to v7, root and unlock, and just flash a stock v9 rom?

Chances are pretty high that your root method installed supersu into the /system/app directory (which is ro) therefore, the only way to remove it, would be to root the phone and mount it as rw. Or as the above says, downgrade then root then next time not upgrade.

above has a name:crying: lol

Yes I have continued reading other forum posts and it appears I updated to build #ZV9.IMM76L which has no root as of yet. Can someone explain how to revert back to V8, once again I have no issues with wiping phone and starting other, I don't have a stock rom, nor do I know how to push one to my phone.

Well, most root methods (including the one I used, found here) install supersu or superuser to /system/app so it would be safe to assume that that is what his core issue is (not being able to uninstall it, because it's in the system partition, which is now read only)

Make sure, or recheck USB bugging. Or your drivers didn't install right.
Type " adb devices" and see if that works.

Can't unroot
Can't find a method to unroot from zv9 rooted. LGNPST recovery freezes at 4% once it actually starts to push the recovery. GAIO isn't compatible with zv9, so no help. Also tried pushing zvb update through TWRP then CWM with no luck, they fail when they try to open the zip.

You don't need to unroot. You need to relock the bootloader though.
In the irc, they have a method to update thru TWRP. If you wanna try that.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I relock with freegee? right?

Was a little worried when it still went into TWRP after restoring with freegee, but gave it a shot installing anyway. I installed the "update.zip" file from sdcard not cache and it still worked. Now running ZVB with root thanks to VooDoo's OTA Rootkeeper!
Thanks for the help engine95!

Frustrated
And have attempted every suggestion posted but have still not been able to fix the problem regarding ADB problem that will not allow me to root my phone. I am to the point that I am ready to factor restore my Sprint Optimus G. I will delay this option for a week in hope that someone will help me resolve my problems. I can't believe I forgot about this option. But run as admin/not as admin. So right click fiddy619 root, run as admin.
This seems to be the most common problem.
Let's hope this works.

Curious Update (Korean carrier)

So I've been checking daily for the JB update, and came across this small update today.
I attempted to apply this update, but was greeted with the following message after a failed update attempt.
So, is this LG attempting to patch the root exploit, or just being d! cks?
And, what is the simplest way to unroot? (just root, not bootloader unlocked)
Sent from my LG-F180L using xda app-developers app
Just wow. I have the F180K, rooted - installed 2 updates came over OTA - no problems. Root still here by the way.
Also OTA says no updates for me
Tried disabling Superuser in SuperSU and that didn't work. Tried enabling Survival mode in SuperSU Pro and that didn't work. Might just take my chances, run the full unroot, update, and hope that I can re-root.

My rooted Rogers LG-E971 just tried to run an OTA software update. Said update was cancelled because of suspected root.
I am curious to know what has been updated if anybody has or can find that information.
Yes! This problem can be solved, please read my post on this thread:

Pushed the update V10p via LGmobile Support Tool. Update completed, lost root, unable to re-root via Bin4ry method or otherwise. Guess I wait for a new root method if one ever surfaces.
I have the .kdz from before the V10p update, could always revert back and root if I wanted to. Don't really see any need to at this moment.
Just received a 3rd update for F180K, but while installation it shows error 0x13E, probably cause of unlocked boot

Yea, I maintained root up to and including V10n. It is V10p that seems to break root and prevents re-rooting.

Upgraded to 4.4.2 - Need to root again, please help

Hi,
I just joined the forums this evening. This is my first post.
Basically I want to figure out how to re-root my (2013) Nexus 7 which I just updated to 4.4.2.
I installed 4.4 and had to re-root, of course losing all my settings and apps, having to reinstall and reset everything to my liking.
I have never made a backup.
I just now upgraded to 4.4.2 update, and all my settings and apps are in tact, however, I lost root.
I do not want to re-root and reinstall everything again, so I need help on recovery and steps involved.
I am still unlocked, and I have the TWRP installed as well as SuperSU and RecoveryTools.
Please advise how to make a backup and re-root in the least painful way.
(PS I did use the Wug'sFresh kit to do my rooting the first time around, and am not very comfortable using the SDK etc)
Thanks!

Hi,
It is very frustrating I want to be able to keep all my apps/settings and configurations after root, but I don't know how.
I think there is an app that allows you to keep your root after upgrades, but I haven't really figured out which way to do things.
Any pros out there who can help?
Everything is fine on my tablet right now, just the way I like it BESIDES being unrooted.

have you tried flashing the SuperSU zip in recovery? should be all you need to do to get root back. dont need to lose any data. just re-enable root apps aka grant root permissions when they pop up.

Hi efan3719:
I don't have the zip in my SDcard but SuperSU is installed, but when I tap on it it says I need root access, and when I tap on Recover Tools > flash TWRP it says "need root" as well..
Should I download SuperSU zip latest file version and copy it over to my device and then run it using my file explorer?
Sorry, I may be confusing I'm still learning this stuff.

download SuperSU from here http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip, put it on your device. reboot to recovery, flash the supersu zip. reboot. you should now be rooted.
:/
I have the zip file now on my device.
However, when I reboot into recovery TeamWin no longer comes up it goes to dead android character with exclamation point. :/
Try the nexus root toolkit. It makes rooting very easy with great step by step instructions.

I have that program. I used it to do my original unlock and root.
Can I re-root using that without losing my latest update/and settings?
I cannot boot into Recovery Mode to reinstall SuperSU (which I currently have installed on my system but it won't work when I tap on it because it says I require root).
So I cannot install the SuperSu zip I just placed onto my device.
This is confusing.
Okay I used Wugs again and looks like I am re-rooted.

Hi,
basically I had my Nexus 7 (2013) upgraded to KitKat 4.4.2 using the automatic (wi-fi) over the air update.
it installed fine but caused me to lose root. no other information was lost, all my apps and settings were the same, i simply lost root.
when you lose root, you are no longer able to access TWRP during the bootloader startup by going into recover mode. it will show a dead Android character.
so I simply connected my Nexus to my pc and (having Wug's Root Tookit and Nexus 7 drivers already installed from my first time rooting) I selected (from Wug's drop down menu - when Wug's program starts up) my build and version.. then it did it's magic and downloaded the pertinent files. (of course you need to have USB DeBugging checked in settings > developer options or whatever..
then i selected Root option and 'install custom recover' check box as well.. and let it do its thing.
TWRP started up automatically during reboot, and did the root.. then my Nexus was all good again, all apps and data in tact, with root. all good.
Hope that helps.
Excellent sharing. I have the same issue after upgrading to 4.4.2 via OTA

Saved the trouble (with my stock recovery) to temperary 'boot' TWRP via Adb fastboot and Usb-cable to reflash SuperSu.
Yes you should just be able to use WuGFresh's nexus root toolkit to update n7 4.4.2 update
The app won't have a 4.4.2 option but you can just select root any version and it will still be able to root your n7 running 4.4.2
Such a great program...

E98010P Rooting

I usually don't post and I mostly just follow your all direction and accomplish what I need. While doing my research for Rooting my LG Optimus G Pro I have seen that if you have the updated version of the phone you can't root. Now my phone is completely stock 4.1.2, kernel 3.4.0, E98010P. Can someone direct me in the right way or link to a How-to root an E98010P?
I figured out a way to work on my LG Optimus G Pro running 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with E98010p. Watch this Youtube vid, Its a chinese root but he shows you how to make it english.
Just gave this a shot and it worked!!! Really didn't want to go through the hassle of using the flash tool again just to regain root.

I downloaded the BIN_LGE980AT-00-V10p-ATT-US-NOV-22-2013+0.zip, the used LGflashtool to flash to my phone. Then followed direction in the video. Now have E98010P plus root.

Rooted and Accidentally installed the 9/10/2014 OTA and now stuck in TWRP loop?

First of all, I do not take credit for any of this.
I rooted my LG G3 and then yesterday I accidentally installed the OTA (9/10/2014) from T-mobile and when the LG G3 rebooted I got stuck in the a TWRP boot loop.
I found the solution to this in the LG G2 Forum. I thought that somebody looking for a solution in this LG G3 Forum could benefit from all the trouble I went through until I found a solution

Thank you, I will give it try later. I was reading that the OTA update addressed (do not know if it means "improved") the wifi calling and also the auto brightness function:good:
The most noteworthy is the touchscreen sensitivity.
It's totally workable with glass plate.
The command line works well for me to get out of bootloop.

[Q] Unrooting...

Hello all, I'm looking for for help. I can't unroot my G3. I've downloaded the LG flash tool, LG drivers, and LG_D851.10C_TOT&DLL.7z. When I try to CSE Flash it will start but then I will get "LGUserCSTool LGMobile Application has stopped working". I've uninstalled and reinstalled the LG flash tool and LG_D851.10C_TOT&DLL.7z so right now I'm stuck. Thank you in advance for your help
Is your phone still fully functional? If so just download pc suite or the lg support tool. Hook it up and select upgrade recovery under options. It will put the stock firmware back on your phone erasing all system mods.
Okay, I'll try that. Thanks. I also have twrp installed will this method erase/unistall it or do I have to uninstall twrp first?

It will erase recovery, root, and all system mods. Last time I used it it erased my data too. It has never done that before so I dont know if something went wrong that time or if it was updated to erase it. None the less just keep that in mind.

It will erase recovery, root, and all system mods. Last time I used it it erased my data too. It has never done that before so I dont know if something went wrong that time or if it was updated to erase it. None the less just keep that in mind.

Hey I'm doing a JUMP! upgrade and need to unroot and reinstall the bloatware that came on my phone, what would be the best route for me to go? I did the Force Root meathod with that stump app or whatever, but no custom recovery or OS in installed, just rooted. I tried looking for this support tool but I can't seem to find it.
