Will New AT&T LG G3 update break Root?
It wouldn't let me update because I had root. I think you have to unroot, update, and reroot.

It didn't break root for me, but I have no custom ROM and stock recovery.
I unrooted it and when I download it and restarted, it said "update not available". I kinda was disappointed that I can't upgrade even if I uninstall full root into my phone. Now I'm stuck with KK?

You will still be 'stuck' with KK after the update too.
doesn't work
Ok, so I just tried to install the update and it failed. Same kind of message saying root detected or whatever and it won't install.
I am rooted, no custom rom, no custom recover. I do have Xposed Framework running thought. I wonder if that might be the issue or if it is 'root'' itself.
So, does simply unrooting work and then re-root it?
Perhaps I'm going to have to reset my device and start from scratch when L becomes available.

How do I get the OTA Kit-Kat with a rooted v 4.1.2 ? I have SuperSu for the Superuser app and see no option to do a temp unroot (if that will even work for the OTA update).
I have managed to stay out of trouble so far, the OTA update downloads and tries to install - then I get the error "Root suspected" during the beginning of the update process. I can just turn off and on and everything is fine. I would like KitKat, but I'm seeing so many threads saying the At&T Optimus G Pro (E980) with the 4.1.2 ROM is exempt from most of the tricks supplied here for this unit. I don't know how I managed to finally root it, I tried 5 methods then went back to the first one I tried that failed before and it worked the second time. I think it was a wrong ADB version running on my laptop.
Any tried and true methods to get KitKat for this beast and still have root? Thanks.

How do I flash the AT&T KK ? Is the official ROM here, or where is it downloaded to the phone so I can copy to SD card or PC?
Just to be sure we are on the same page, you are referring to LG Flashtools, correct?
Please take it easy on this newbie! I don't know all the acronyms, to me there is nothing quite simple about it!

I'm rooted I updated doesn't matter if your rooted. I also still have root after update.

It's not a huge update, just some housekeeping stuff, from what I GOOGLED.
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
If you dont want to show and download automatically update just download from playstore the app called Disable Service inside the app you can find the update software just go inside and uncheck those 3 files and reboot.

Not all of us can take the update. Mine keeps going into bootloop twrp and it will not take.
Easiest way is to just freeze software update in titanium backup
From Reddit:
I can confirm. Go into Titanium Backup and freeze/uninstall 'Software Update X.X.X.X'.
I did this to my phone yesterday and it got rid of that annoying notification.

Another solution:
I actually used a root file explorer and renamed the System Update APK to append a ".bak" on the end. This way I can change it back later if I do want to update, and I didn't want to use Titanium. This worked.

Using a Verizon LG G3. OK so I rooted my phone with stump root and installed the twrp recovery. Verified it was rooted with root checker. SuperSU and busy box both worked. I then installed a custom ROM for it I believe it was euphoria. Now my phone is no longer rooted and stump root says its unrecognized and won't give me the brute force option as it did the first time. I tried the unroot option in SuperSU but it does nothing different after I reboot. Also twrp won't recognize the stock rom. What am I doing wrong?

Madscientist's recommendation sounds best. You don't need to be rooted to TOT a stock image to your phone. Make sure to backup anything important. This requires a PC:

Yes, restoring stock using TOT method is like getting the phone brand new without any modifications, so it should fix any issues you are seeing if the phone was modified in anyway. I have successfully TOTed back to older stock versions numerous times and the update notification would pop up like a mad dog without leaving me alone
The most legit way is to download an app called "root checker," and the rest is self explanatory.

ZVG is Lollipop 5.0
ZVB, ZVD, ZVE is Kit Kat 4.4
ZV7, ZV8, ZVA is Jelly Bean 4.1
So just look for the right files.

Gamersab, this is all for Sprint and Boost Mobile LG G2 LS980. I just saw in your profile that you are using Pakistan - Telenor. This is probably the reason why you aren't receiving OTA updates for your phone... Your phone was probably flashed by Telenor to work on their network. I wouldn't tot back to stock or you might lose network access because the APN settings won't be configured for your provider...
No I bought it from independent seller.
Telenor have nothing to do with it
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Free mobile app
And will my phone remain unlock after flashing tot ?
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Free mobile app
No, tot puts it back on sprint network. If you aren't using sprint, you will not get access.
Any easy way to unlock it ? And will I be able to receive OTA update after unlock ?

Any unlocking will break ota of going through.
Well, the only way I'm getting LP is by flashing custom ROM right?

They are working on a permanent unlock on stock lollipop. There is a thread in sprint development. Main thing, backup your apn-settings file.
That could save you a big headache

How do I backup?

I don't want to upgrade to lollipop and I've frozen the updater app, but I still get these terrible popups that ask me to update. I've rooted, s-offed, installed twrp, and completely modded the system, so there's no way the update would work anyway. If anyone has a way to get rid of these popups, please help.

Yes. Flash a custom ROM. There are several that are very near stock (I recommend MaximusHD). Being on the stock ROM is what is prompting you to update via OTA.

Pardon?
I would love to try a custom rom but the htc One M8 I'm asking about is my dad's and he was reluctant to even let me do what I've done so far. I need a stock solution. Would doing the update and letting it fail keep the pop-up out of my hair for a while? Is there an activity I can freeze in some system app from Rom Toolbox or something?

No. It won't.
Tell your Dad not to worry.
Since you are still running the stock ROM, go to settings > about > more, and post what it says next to build number.
The build number for me wasn't exactly where you said but that's ok. On a side note it really sucks that you can't copy things like build number right from the settings.
Build Number: 3.28.605.4 CL390638 release-keys

Sorry fat thumb.
I've frozen all the apps mentioned but after a reboot the problem persists. If I flashed a stock rom would it go away?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app
Try use a root explorer to rename those two apks to .bak then reboot.
CheckinProvider.apk --> CheckinProvider.bak
updater.apk --> updater.bak
That's how I do it.
Sorry I wasn't specific, but what I meant by freeze was that I renamed them to .app. This didn't fix anything though.

Then the software updates tab is gone, right ?
Also try change this in build.prop
ro.config.htc.enableCOTA=1
to
ro.config.htc.enableCOTA=0
Other than this, no more idea.
I'm very confused. What update tab exactly are you referring to, and I don't even have that line in my build.prop according to Rom Toolbox.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app
I mean when you go to settings - about - you don't see software updates on top after you froze those apks.
I'm outside and replying you on mobile. Can't attach a screenshot.
Can you attach here your build.prop then I'll check it later when I'm home
(in next two hours)
I don't see anything about an update in About but I don't remember seeing one earlier either. Either way an update button is not what is annoying. The pop-up is my only concern. My dad won't update android manually and it would fail anyway but a phone that bullies it's user ever few minutes to update is unbearable. Is there an easy way to upload a file here from my phone without linking to a Google Drive file?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app
You don't see that because you already froze the apks.
I never attach anything from phone, only from PC. Just zip the build.prop and attach here, no need dropbox or gdrive.
