[Q] Rooted phone, AT&T update installed, bricked - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys I just rooted my phone a couple days ago and just installed an AT&T software update, but then realized after it was finished that it would brick my phone or something like that because AT&T software no like or whatever (logic, why not just work around that? If anything, superuser privs should help). I don't have Custom recovery installed and would really love a response soon on how to fix without a factory reset. Thanks guys!
Oh and while im kinda on the topic, anyone know a good ROM I can flash? I would also like to know if there is a ROM that makes it just like iOS just to brag to my friends who own iPhones and think that they are good .

Hi,
I'd need to know your exact make and model number of your device to point you towards help.
And unfortunately many times fixing issues like that require either a factory reset, or installing stock firmware again.

You my friend will have a shiny new BRICK if you stick around here in this forum.
This is the Tmobile T999 Galaxy S4 forum and anything you find here will cause
you a lot more harm than good. It looks like you have a Galaxy S4 9505 phone.
Why not go to the correct forum and try to get help there.
The link to the correct forum is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2162
There you can get real help.
Good luck!

Question about flashing and backup...

Hey guys,
I'm new to galaxy Note II. I was wondering if I could get a firmware with blue icons and without any AT&T crapware. Maybe a 4.2 version if possible. What is the best clean firmware which is closest to the generic android with blue icons. I prefer no mods or change in icons. On-buttons would be nice though.
Also how can I backup this rom completely so I can go back to the AT&T's firmware when I'm done with my contract. Any help would be appreciated .
Thank you,
SnowTauren
questions go in Q&A, not in general...
your questions sound like you dont really know anything about Android or this phone, so I would STRONGLY advise you dont flash anything, until you do ALOT more reading...do you know how to root? do you know what a nandroid is? Do you know how to restore a backup? Do you know how to tell what version of Android you are on? Do you know the actual model number of this phone?
If you cant answer every one of those questions, dont even TRY to do anything to your phone until you do..
I'm sorry I made this post in the wrong section. And yes I've been rooting and changing firmwares for my Sony Xperia X10i. However, I also had it's original firmware with me. So whenever I messed up I was able to flash back to factory defaults.
But i'm new to Note II, I don't know if anything is different on this phone. I know my phone is N7100. I'm pretty much good with computers and phones . Just new to this phone.
Anyway my question was which firmware is the best and closest to generic and what can I use to backup my Note II.
Thanks
you are in the wrong thread for a 7100..this thread is for the ATT version, I317....

My bad, like I said I'm new to the Note II. Anyway i have the AT&T version which is I317.
I'm also running the ATT version. Stock isn't so bad as long as you never update the branded apps.
I strongly recommend that you run stock before going on a flash bend. Other phones NEED to be flashed, but this beauty doesn't really need it.

[Q] Update Galaxy Note3 while Rooted

Hello,
I'm new to XDA and have a question. Couldn't find it that fast on the forums so made this new thread.
I own a Rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-9005 and it's on android 4.3
When I click on software update I get an error message due to the fact my phone is rooted. I'm wondering if it's possible to update to 4.4.2?
I don't care about losing my root because I will root again. Already tripped Knox to 0x1 so I'm fine with that aswell.
Thanks in advance,
Wess

There is a complete walk thru guide inside the development section. Should be good after following that.

Thanks for your fast answer. It isn't clear for me where to find the "development section". Could you give me a link? Otherwise I'll keep searching!

Go to CM's website and use the built in installer.
Also you need to report your post so it can be moved to the sprint s3 area so you can get users familiar with your device to help you. This area is for the international i9300 and anything you flash or instructions you follow from here will brick your phone as you need to perform more steps first before you can get underway.

Possible Root Method?

While figuring out how to root a friend's Note II, I stumbled upon this thread here . I haven't tested it on the Note 4 yet, but tried it out on my S4. Of course they are different, but the S4 wasn't able to be rooted through normal methods. I was just curious if anyone wanted to try it out.
Mods, I don't know if this is in the right section, but since I didn't create it, I didn't put it in the Development Section.
Thanks for reading, I just wanted to share. Happy rooting!
Nope towelroot does not work on the note 4. there are no root methods as of now. Otherwise everyone would be rooted
