Signal loss every few seconds - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I upgraded my international LG to Lollipop. After a few days I decided to wipe and reinstall my firmware because of battery drain. Well, my phone is booting but I lose my signal every few seconds. Neither another reset nor restoring my nandroid backup is helping.
Can I do something else?
Edit:
Well, I managed to fix it after hours of searching. I just flashed the KK modem and it works great, even with Lollopop. Strange, but now I can actually call someone with my phone
If someone else has got this problem, I used the KK modem from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-lollipop-rooted-rom-skin1980-t2936022

You are on the wrong modem.
Either you are on a L rom with a KK modem, or a KK rom with an L modem - you need to flash a modem that matches your firmware.

[Q] Battery drainage because of mobile data

Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum and got a small question. My girlfriend has an Oppo Find 7a. You guys probably know that the stock ROM is ColorOS. In my opinion it's crappy as hell, lots of bugs and issues, so I decided to flash Dirty Unicorns 5.02 on it. I did that yesterday and all is working fine so far, except that the battery drained from 100% to 64% last night (in 8 hours). See the photos attached. According to the photos it seems clear that the issue is the mobile data usage. I've checked the settings and it seems mobile data loses connection, connects again and loses connection everytime. Probably this is the cause of the battery drainage. Somewhere on this forum I read something about flashing Alucard 1.1a kernel on it to fix this issue. I want to try this in the evening, but does anyone know the correct type of this kernel as I found different alucard 1.1a download links?
Can someone please help me out with this? Yesterday evening I just flashed the Alucard 1.1a kernel via the custom recovery. I also removed dalvik/cache and rebooted after that. The Oppo boot logo appeared, but it stayed like this for 20 minutes. I'm not sure if I have to wait any longer to make it work or if the phone is just not booting up anymore with this kernel. Any advice?

before flashing DU did you flash proper modem and trustzone firmware?

Nope, actually I didn't. I wasn't aware of the fact that this was necessary. I had ColorOS 2.0.0i on it and flashed DU directly on it.
Can you maybe tell me what the proper modem and trustzone firmware is? And can these still be installed now even if DU is already flashed on it?

well you can do a clean flash again but this time you have to follow this for how and why to flash modem and TZ firmware:
https://plus.google.com/+BoskoTrkulja/posts/CENAM1a7Zob
you can get the modem and tz firmware here:

Sir, have my thanks! You are my hero of today. Thanks a bunch. I'm going to try this

So, one more thing If I may ask. What is the best thing to do from here on:
1. Flash modem, flash firmware, flash DU (directly over the DU rom that is installed now without doing a factory reset / wipe)
2. Flash modem, flash firmware, perform a factory reset / full wipe and then flash DU.
And will the newly flashed modem and firmware stay on the phone when i do a full wipe?

do a clean wipe, then flash modem, then firmware (in bootloader) and then rom along with gapps.

It's been a few weeks, but I finally had the time to do this. I've done a full wipe in TWRP and then flashed the modem on it. This showed succesful. It took about 10 minutes before the phone booted up afterwards. After that all seemed fine, so i've put the phone in bootloader via a command in cmd and installed the firmware. This also went succesful, but now I still have the same issues on the Oppo regarding the provider issue as mentioned earlier. The data connection is still being lost very often and it still seems to be draining battery (although less than before). Is there something else I can do to fix this ?

If you have recently done a clean install, give it some time to settle down. For Data connection issue, make sure to check your APN and also try a different sim or this sim in some other phone, could be signal reception issue.

I will give the battery thing some time to settle down then. About the data connection issue; This was not an issue on coloros, but I will check apn and try another sim. Thanks again!
I've changed the APN settings, as they stood on some kind of roaming setting. It's now been set to live.vodafone and seems to be functioning better already . If I still run into some issues I'll let it know. Thanks for helping me out

Data problems after unroot

I'm having issues with my data connection after unrooting my phone for the LP update. I used the the TOT file method to unroot my phone, and didn't have any issues with the process. This method takes me back to the 10c version and everything works flawlessly. When I take the updates though, everything looks normal, boots up fine, but won't connect to anything but WiFi. The data signal bars have a tiny refresh circle rotating above for a few seconds then goes to a red x. Ten in a few more seconds it starts over searching for a signal. This happens on every stock ROM I flash now too. Only the 10c ROM, CM11, CM12, and AOSP based ROMs work. I'm not a complete noob at rooting. I've been doing it since my og evo 4g, but this is the first major problem I've had. Currently I'm staying with the unrooted 10c ROM until I can find a fix. Everything is working, but I constantly have the update notification which is annoying. Anyone have any other suggestions? I've tried using the TOT file method and the KDZ file with the 10R method. Thanks in advanced

Have you tried my fix? It might work for you. Try it and let me know. Before trying it though make sure your APN is correct setting for Tmobile. If so try the fix on my thread:

Not sure how I missed your thread. I'm trying it now and I'll report back in a few.
That did the trick!!!

Awesome to hear man, Glad that method worked out for you!

Downgraded from 4.4.4 to 4.2, reverted back and no WIFI, tried everything!

Well, I followed an XDA thread to SIM unlock the M919. It involved downgrading from 4.4.4 to 4.2. and I successfully unlocked my device! But now I have no Wifi... I tried flashing every single modem, every firmware (Official TW ones via Odin, every custom rom using TWRP). They flashed well and everything worked besides the Wifi. I've found some threads from people with the exact same problem (they tried to unlock it using the same method) but those are old threads with no solution.
I've spent 24hrs reading and flashing and wiping and reading again. Any ideas?
Many thanks!
Anyone? If you find me a solution I will Paypal you 20 bucks!

I am having the same issue. My phone was already unlocked though, so no downgrading on my part, but I think we're having the same issue. Is yours showing connected, but usually getting time outs or disconnecting?
My issue happened when I flashed from stock 4.2 to the GPE rom for 5.1. Wi-fi issues. Connected, but exclamation point saying that my connection wasn't working. So I flashed a different rom (candy) and still, I have issues. So I went back to 4.2, stock everything. Stock bootloader, stock rom, stock radio. Still had issues. So I decided maybe flashing a new radio would work, so I flashed NH7 and NK2 (broke my audio). Still didn't work. Realized my bootloader doesn't match the modem, so I flashed 4.4.4 stock bootloader and stock NK2 modem. Tried it with the candy rom. No go. I tried the 4.4.4 stock ROM, wifi still has that stupid exclamation point. I've even gone so far as flashing both the bootloader and the radio over 5 times in one go (with battery pull each time) to see if that will work (starting to go nuts, I guess), but still, no fix.
I've had a temporary fix with Tasker (Connect2wifi), but it doesn't work when my phone is on idle, so I don't get any notifications until I actually wake up my phone.
I'm starting to wonder if it's the physical wifi radio (antenna) inside my phone that's broken. But then I wouldn't be able to connect at all if that's the case, right?

No, unfortunately my issue is very different. I know it isn't hardware related. I've never had any issues with it until the second I downgraded. Wifi just doesn't turn on. When I click on the button it just tries to turn on and after a couple seconds it turns back off, without even detecting any networks. This happens no matter what rom, version of android or modem I use. Downgraded, upgraded, tested every single modem and rom via TWRP and Odin.

[SOLVED] No sound on 20B

I recently went from AOSP back to LG's stock firmware because I wanted to test Genisys ROM 3.4. After flashing the ROM through TWRP everything was working fine except the fact that I now have absolutely no sound on my device.
I looked through the thread and some people recommended flashing from Stock 20B first, so I've gone through the process of flashing the Boot, System, Modem and Bootloader files in the thread by autoprime but even after doing this, I still have no sound.
Could anyone offer any kind of solution to this? I would be very, very grateful!
EDIT: Against my better instincts, I decided to flash the 10D modem that I still had on my sdcard, this solved the problem, hopefully for good!

Upgrade broke the GPS

Hi all, I have a note 2 shg-i317 that was originally on Bell in Canada. It was unlocked and the aws mod done to it, I use freedom mobile, aka T-mobile in the states.
I was running a Rom for the past 3 years Slimfast 4.4 and liked it. I had tried Nugat on another phone, thought I would try the [ROM][7.1.2][OFFICIAL] LineageOS for N7105
I did the upgrade, broke the root, could not get a few things working, so I decided to restore the Slimfast backup I had just made (complete including modem etc) and everything works except the GPS.
GPS for me is huge, I use it a lot. I cannot lock on to 1 satellite now. Before i was able to lock onto a minimum of 16 in about 30-45 seconds, if outside.
I really dont care if I can get to 7.1 at the moment. I need my GPS back - any troublshooting for getting GPS to work on this phone?
James
I would try to flash the original stock for your phone and country from sammobile. com
Gps should work normaly then. If not your hardware is broken. If it works you can always flash your data back from your Slimfast rom.

Crap, I am posting here, because I did it again. Again not sure how. I tried to run Reserection, and I guess that messed up the GPS.
To put the original stock rom on.. I have to do that through ODIN? I dont remember how I fixed this last year.. Sorry.
Hope somone can help I need the GPS.
James
ps. Used odin 3.09 to flash the original rom... still no GPS
You flashed the latest 4.4.2 room?

The Rom that I flashed to try and restore the GPS was I317MVLUDNF1_I317MOYADNF1_BMC (mine was an originally BELL phone)
But that did not repair the GPS from me flashing resurection.. I THINK did it. I flashed an android 6 and an android 7 rom. (Mokee) but tried to go back to my Slimfast.. and the GPS was now broken.
Basically what I did a year ago.. somehow I fixed it then.. but cannot remember at all how I did it.
James
The note 2 sold by Rogers, Bell, and Telus are exactly the same model and stock roms from these carriers can be cross flashed.
Try flashing the stock ROM twice in Odin with a factory reset in between each flash.

Do you mean boot up the rom.. run the reset in the rom? or flash.. - load TWRP back in.. WIPE.. then FLASH again with odin?
Thanks for helping btw.
James
I have backups (complete all partitions) of my rom.. Slimfast 4.4 from 2-3 days ago.. when I tried this. SO.. if I can get the Factory rom to restore the GPS.. how can I restore the backup.. I saw somewhere that the EFS partition could be left out and that might help? dont restore the modem? how??
James
I meant flash with Odin, boot into stock recovery, factory reset, flash again with Odin, boot into stock recovery, factory reset, and boot into the stock ROM.
Nope, still no GPS lock.. I have the flashing circle (always had) and it will not lock.. I read about where people go into a service mode and rebuild the NV? .. I assume this is something that Mokee or Reserection did.. not sure how.
Any other ideas?
James
what about using Odin or TWRP to put different modems in? does the modem effect the GPS?
tried this.. does not seem to. grrrrr wish I knew how I fixed this.
James
I assume there are no loose wires. Does it get a lock when using wifi? Not sure what else to suggest.
Not sure about rebuilding NV.
No.. I broke it with playing with custom roms.. Liniage was last year.. I did not try that this year.. but tried both android 6 reserection and android 7 Mokee.. and I am pretty sure they messed it up.. I am also pretty sure there was something I did .. easy like load an old STOCK rom and it fixed it.. I was then able to put my slimfast 4.4 back over it and it was fine. Unfortunatly .. not enough people still using this device.. I will have to have patience I guess.
James
So I have tried differenct stock roms, but I think the issue is ODIN will not restore code from a rom image that is HARDWARE based. I wanted to use Samsung smartswitch but they disabled the part of it that allowed you to factory reset the phone, this seemed to work for several people. Many have also reported entering a code and going into a service mode.. there you can do to a menu that will rebuild hardware modules back to default. But I have not been able to get into that mode because it seems to be a touchwiz only option, and I cannot find a factory rom that is touchwiz based for this model.
What needs to be done is a true FACTORY ROM image.. that would revert all software and hardware back to original, but I cannot seem to find that anywhere.
James
The only factory roms that I know of come from places like sammobile.com and they are all based on TouchWiz which is Samsung's launcher.
So guess what? put Ressurection back on.. and the GPS is back.
I cannot get it to work in any KitKat based rom.. but now anything Marshmellow up.. works.. HMMMMMM
James
