i JUST REINSTALLED THE AFFLICTION ROM ON MY LS980 AND DON'T WANT TO HIT THE TOUCH TO INSTALL THE ZVE UPDATE BY MISTAKE. HOW DO I DISABLE THIS?
Hold down on notification. Go to app settings. Disable notification. Now you won't see it or click it.

Is anyone else having an issue with this? I already have the Led notifications disabled yet when I get a missed call, text or email the led still lights up. I have unticked the options in settings>led indicator. I am using the stock apps for messaging, email and phone calls. No 3rd party apps.
I thought the issue was with gmail as I read it somewhere on the intertnet. But that doesnt seem to be it. If it was why does it still blink with a misssed call or text.
Anyone else with this issue? I really dont want to do anothsr master reset. I have had to go through four master reset for other issues. I finaly got the phone set up the way I want and dont want to do it all over again.
Any help is appreciated.

Be kind of nice to know what ROM and kernel you're on.

Have you tried anything to fix it? Like a master reset?

Have you turned off smart response? I don't have this problem because I have the service light running but I'm wondering if that might do it. Also they make this stuff, "duct tape," you might try that

2 master resets and flashing the root injected ucalem and alg1 ROMs. The problem persists.

Wow. I was hoping a master reset would fix it. Now im not too sure if I even want to try that. I finally have the phone set up the way I want. I would hate to do a reset for nothing.

Having the same exact issue here. Was going to start a thread about it myself.
I have the LED for notifications OFF in the system settings but they still continue to appear. I have tried multiple things to no avail.
I too am just on stock GS3, no rooting.
Would love to find a fix if anyone has found one...
I read here on these forums that your issue was a KNOWN issue and that it'll be worked out
with the next update........ if there's any truth to that, we'll see.

So you're getting flashing blue led for these notifications?
Have you checked yes for notifications in the default apps themselves?

Yes thats correct. If I disable the notification option in the default apps then I wouldnt get a sound or status bar notification when a text or email comes in. All options for the LED lights are disabled in the settings.
Im hoping that this is a bug that will be fixed in a future update. I really dont want to master reset again.
If I were to reset, will my apps be downloaded automatically? All the resets I have done I had to manually look for them and download them again.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. Hope we can find a solution for this.

If you reset, you have to go to Play, choose My Apps from phone menu and reinstall. Only updates are (if you so choose) automatic.
As I remember it, with my I747 I had to set notifications to be on in apps and also set LED indicator to display when there was activity. Otherwise, the phone could set there all day and I'd never know there were messages or missed calls.
Anybody able to get into google now menu after the update? I can hit the menu button but the pop up menu just immediately disappears.

Same here. Stock Unrooted after 4.1.2 OTA. No access to Google Now Menu. Flashes briefly then disappears. Tried to clear cache but won't clear. Tried to uninstall updates in application manger but hangs on uninstalling screen.
Click on the bar at the top to bring up your keyboard and now the menu will stay open.

Menu won't stay open whether keyboard present or not. Using Swiftkey.
Finally got the Google Search update to uninstall and the menu opens normally when not updated. Hmmm.

I have the same issue. Re-updated and menu flashes and disappears.
Add me to this list also. It's a bug in the new search update. It really sucks. Thankfully I don't need to use the menu/setting that much.
If I do I can get into it via settings.
Do a dummy search first, then try it....

Yep, this worked for me too. Now if I can just figure out why my battery life took a hit with the new update. Life will be good again.

Quick update. Still happening.
Workaround (based on previous posts and trials)
Open Google Now.
Type a space (or any placeholder text in the search bar.
Close the keyboard and retry the menu key. The menu should now pop up and float there.
The search bar seems to have to have something in it for menu to not instantly close again. I've put as little as just that space and it works.
Wonder how Google missed that?

I would hypothesize that this is a Samsung Twiz ROM issue, rather than a Google oops...Trying it on my PACMan 20.1 install I fail to get the bug.
Anyone in this thread so far not using a Sammy TWiz ROM?
Uninstall and re-install Google Search. Clear Google Talk data in App management. Reboot.
It'll work after that.
Every time I get a text message, the camera LED flashes 3 times. I don't remember this happening before I rooted and installed Xposed + G3 TweakBox. None of my TweakBox settings seem to be related to this behavior, and I can't find anything in main Settings or the stock messaging app to disable it. Is anyone else seeing this?

Does anyone know how to disable the gamemode notifications on the note 4? I've tried clearing the cache for the galaxy app store and turning notifications off from there but it still occasionally pops up and I'd rather not update/use it
Rooted?

Tap and hold the notification and hit the "i" and turn of notifications
Did that but they still come up, would it be possible to disable that app or whatever is causing the notification with adb? I've read somewhere that com.enhance.gameservice is causing it on other Samsungs but I can't find that on the note 4
Edit: disabled com.enhance.gameservice with package disabler pro and Samsung push services, haven't seen the notification since

didn't work for me. im on 8.1... that is probably why. thanks though!
What if you press and hold on the notification. Then you get options to hide the notification
That program is specifically for the "some crap is running in the background" notification that you get if you're running something like Signal.
I stopped using the app. Try this:
