If you unlock the bootloader it still shows tampered at the top. Unless we get S-OFF, there is no way to get rid of the tampered message.

[Q] how to get my warranty back?

hi,
i think i have broken hardware which are causing some touch screen issues....so i have to send it to htc center for it to get repaired...so need my warranty back
so i wanna know answers for:
1.how to unroot?
2.how to remove cwm and super user?
3.should i lock the bootloader?
4.what else should i do to make those guys(HTC) believe i didnt do any hacks?
plz help me out..........
thanks in advance........
Where are you from?
Are you using a custom rom?
Do you have a backup of your stock rom?
If you unlocked your bootloader with the htcdev method then you are probably out of luck.
Even if you relock the bootloader HTC will have your phones imei number on their database stated that you unlocked.

maybe you could try using the tool to control your bootloader.
Search on this forum "Control your Bootloader and set Superversion for downgrade" and you can change your unlocked in the bootloader to locked.
if you want to unroot i recommend you watch the video on MrTaco505's youtube channel
Remember to thanks if it worked =D
i am from india....ya backed up stock rom and runnin it now....cant they atleast do paid service if it rooted....

Rooting HTC 816?

Hey Guys,
I am new to HTC, coz I was using a Sony Xperia Z earlier.
So now I have a HTC 816 (4G version), just want to know a way I can ROOT the phone. I have seen a guide which states how to do it, but it says to unlock the bootloader. Is there a way I can root the phone without unlocking the bootloader? Coz since I have bought this like last week, I dont wanna unlock it yet.
And also wanna know, how I can find the model no. of my phone. Like "a5_ul" etc.
Your help is really appreciated
That guide is the only one available, and you can't root your phone without unlocking your bootloader, there's just no way sorry.
Also you most likely have the a5_ul. If your on Virgin Mobile though it's the a5_chl.
To find out for sure boot into Hboot, and it will say it on that screen.

no but you need the int version to be able to unlock bootloader...if not nothing custom!!!
Nope, I guess
If you unlock the bootloader with lg official tool (makes void the warranty), you can flash everything is available
But, unlocked bootloader screen will be displayed at every boot. So, same bad knox issue for warranty.

Relocking the bootloader (in itself) won't help, as this action renders the phone unable to boot at all (as relock expects RUU to be run).
Its pretty much impossible to help further unless we have more info. Was your friend trying to do anything to the phone that may have caused the current condition (and what was that specifically)?
Do fastboot getvar all and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number) so we can see further info on the phone.

No need to unlock bootloader. Sunshine has the option to keep bootloader locked and s-off. Since you're on Android 6, Sunshine will temproot your phone and set it to s-off without unlocking your bootloader

I have another quick question.
How do you unroot the phone without leaving a trace of root?

Many Thanks to you,
I figured it might leave a trace , it happened with Samsung S4 active, where resetting the phone did not get of the root, factory reset, I can't seem to remember if I put the new odin

Well, you need custom recovery to make a backup. I really can't remember if Sunshine delets everything on your phone or not. I would advise you to look up Sunshine s-off for clarification on that. If it doesn't, you're good to go. Just install TWRP, and backup everything
