Hello
Today my Z1C digitizer got broken (cracked), it got broken without any drops, I suspect phone bend or something, but I can't find real reason why it cracked in 1 place.
LCD is in perfect condition. I wanted to order digitizer however everyone offer complete expensive set (digitizer with lcd etc).
Is there possible to repair phone by only replacing digitizer or Z1C have digitizer integrated with lcd, or there is something why all offer full set only ?

My screen developed a hairline crack, the same as you, I couldn't work out how it happened, I didn't drop it or anything.
I raised a call to Sony support to say that the top half of the screen had stopped responding (true), didn't mention crack as it was almost impossible to see.
After doing the ususal 'plug it in to PC Companion and repair' guidance from the helpdesk, it was decided to send it back to service centre.
7 days later my phone was back with repaired screen, no cost.
I think Sony are brilliant for repairing screen damage, I don't know of any other manufacturer that does that.
Try to get your phone repaired on warranty.

Greetings XDA,
Recently i have dropped my rhod100 and broke the digitizer which actually didn't affect the device except the accuracy of the screen abit and the annoying broken glass.
so today i got a replacement Digitizer, i opened the device and to my surprize, the LCD is glued to the digitizer and it's really difficult to separate them. so if you want to change one of them, make sure you order both bacuase 99% of the time you will break one of them.
notice that hair dryer did help in the spearation but the LCD didn't make it in my case
waiting for my new LCD to reach so i can continue the repair, for now i have no device :'(
I recently replaced just the broken glass screen on my evo. When I turned it on now, the screen is all black now. I hear it still working, I hear SMS and phone calls, but cant see anything. I didnt replace the entire LCD just the clear part. When I was prying the clear screen off, it was sticking to the lcd, which also was cracked. So I got the screen off but the other part came with it. I dont know if it was connected to the LCD and it was broken off or if its ok seperated. Its just the dark looks like tinted glass that goes directly over the LCD and under the clear screen (digitizer). So, can anyone tell me if maybe I damaged the LCD screen.
Thanks in advance.
So before replacing the glass/digitizer, the lcd still worked fine? Based on your description it sounds like the lcd. You may just have a loose ribbon connection...have you tried redoing the ribbons?
I'm about to dive into the same mission. Thinking twice about it now.....
Yes the glass was broken for about 1 month but it still worked fine the LCD was working. I've tried reconnecting the ribbons various times also tried connecting the old glass digitizer, but still the same result. I'm not sure if that tinted screen was part of the LCD and is now broken or if I somehow damaged something else when I was connecting it.

to tell the truth changing just the glass is definitely the cheapest route, but from what I've read is more difficult than buying the whole replacement LCD. I paid $25 on eBay but the whole LCD is closer to like $75.

So you mean it is easier to purchase a digitizer and LCD that still connected as one piece (http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Sprint-HTC-Evo-4G-LCD-p/htc736815.htm) as opposed to doing the digitizer or LCD individually? If I went that route I would just pay a 3rd party cell phone repair shop to do the work for 100 bucks...then you can hold someone else accountable.
I found the LCD here for cheap: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250782149841&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Supposed to arrive tomorrow so I will find out if the lcd is indeed the problem
thanks for that link, I may have to try that.
Hey everyone,
Just yesterday, I managed to somehow do this : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/62874133/IMG_20120815_022135-1.jpg to my phone. However, the phone still registers the touch inputs even on the crack ( see : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/62874133/Screenshot_2012-08-15-12-21-48.png ). Does this mean I just need a new lens as found here : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Front...ltDomain_0&hash=item53ee3cff34#ht_1596wt_1165 ? Or do I need a new digitizer as found here : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Frame-LCD-T...000?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc82f3618 ?
Thanks so much.
ohhh that sucks!!
I got my screen broken too and like yours touchscreen was still working. I had to pay around $40 to the local repair shop to replace it.. i think new lens will be good enough for you.. but before you buy, go to a repair shop for checking i guess

I went to 5 repair shops and they said that they would need to change the entire thing so it would be around $190. Which shop did you go to? The touchscreen works fine, so does this mean that they are wrong?
If I'm not mistaken the "display" is glued to the digitizer, basically the glass is the digitizer. If you do plan to separate the screen from the glass I would be extremely cautious while doing so. As one mistake can scratch the display.
The Glass, digitizer and screen are glued together, afaik this is what the "super" means in AMOLED.
You might be able to separate them, but I don't know of anyone who had managed to.
Tbh your best bet is to replace the whole unit
Separating digitizer from glass would be plain hard, but your digitizer is still in one piece.you could try it,but it would be hard and you need to be very careful.if you suceed, buy just the glass,if you break the whole thing, pay for the total replacement, you end up with the same thing.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes they are glued and you have to buy the set. When they get calibrated together its then set. Separating them gives the chance that you may not line up where you touch and that same point on the display.
Thanks so much for your replies!
Well, considering the fact that a new Galaxy Nexus is $300 at a local store, I'll pass on getting the new digitizer + lcd panel. Has anyone tried taking out the LCD and putting a new one? (Like this : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Front...6256&pid=100011&prg=1005&rk=1&#ht_1290wt_1165 )? Does anyone know if it's still possible? I'd really like for this phone to be in perfect shape :/
So I dropped my phone, screen cracked. Pretty upset about it considering it was only dropped from about a foot.
Anyway, looking for repair options. I have insurance and heard LG is another way to go but looking for a different option.
My screen is cracked, digitizer responsed only where their is no cracks, LCD is fine.
Looking up repair places, they want to replace the whole assembly LCD/Screen, so my question
how difficult is replacing just the screen? i'd say I do pretty well at DIY
anyone have a good repair person who just does the screen or anyone will to sell your services to me?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
I replace my wife's G3 screen that was very damaged from the impact, I bought the part on ebay for $107 about two months ago, I replaced the screen, no to hard to do.
Hi Z1 Compact users! I'd like to ask you what do you this.
Some time ago I broke my Z1C LCD. I decided to replace it manually. I bought a cheap one and replace it. Unfortunately screen's quality was poor - very soon I broke touch panel. It doesn't fit corectly to frame as weel. Also battery cover glue weakened so it's not wter proof anymore.
I deicided to send my phoone to authorized Sony Servic Center in Poland - W-Support.
I received their opinion - They said that PCB needs to be replaced as well due to software ingenertion! Lol, nice.I didn't know that rooting and deboating my phone may cause it won't work properly.
Do you think they are right and PCB needs REALLY to be replaced? Costs of this one operation is about 150% of factory new Z1C
In their opinion it needs to be replaced not because I could broke it somehow during screen raplacing buy "DUE TO SOFTWARE CHANGES"
No, they just scammed you.
Unless you physically broke some connector during LCD replace there is absolutely no reason to replace entire PCB.
Also you should avoid authorized sony service centers at all costs (especially in Poland!), unless your phone is still on warranty period. They'll just charge you 3 times more than any other professional center.
