I got a Lenovo A536 today (A536_S128_140624_ROW). I'm kind of new to Android and would like to root it. It's already asking me to update its firmware to (A536_S158_141106_ROW). I'd like to know the best way to root it and update the firmware to the latest version. Thanks in advance.
Hi
I saw your question on many pages.
previous version is rootable with reflashing rooted system image. but then you have to put there new recovery which is not able to update to OTA.
I will give it some tries today and will see if we can root also new version.
link for OTA is

I dont think official lollipop is /will be available for any of the galaxy s4 mini models. I would advise you to go to sammobile.com and look for the latest firmware for your device(Region specific) and download it. It will be the latest one and it will also serve as a backup official firmware. There after you can root your device(or do any other experiments for that matter), if something goes wrong there is a backup to fall back on.
Yesterday I updated my ROOTED Lollipop to the latest build 5.1.1 , but after the update I lost the root , so I tried to root it again with iRoot program , but I got this error message :
Error: only position independent executables (PIE) are supported
Then I tried many many of rooting apps but still facing the same problem and getting the same error !!
I looked for this issue, and I found some sort of fixes but I couldn't understand anything, because I'm not an Android expert.
So can you please give me a solution because I need my device to be rooted. And with an easy and simplest way please !
Device : Sony Xperia Z1 COMPACT
Model Number : D5503
Android version : 5.1.1
Kernel version : 3.0.4-perf-g4fd66c3
Device build number : 14.6.A.0.368
In short: Flash back to an earlier version (using Flashtool), root it, install NUT's XZ dual recovery, flash a pre-rooted ZIP of LP 5.1.1 (you find some here on xda), and enjoy your rooted android

Thanks for the reply .. For curiosity, can you please explain to me what means this error and why it exist , as I read it was since 4.1.1 , and personally I didn't face it when I updated android to 5.0.2.
Mainly it attempts to unlocked bootloaders. but there is a workaround for the error, so if you had still installed a running recovery the whole backflash was useless

Originally it was written for nexus and motorola devices, but it fixed my Z1C too, so i guess its not devicebound
I want to ask a thing:
I'm on latest 5.1.1 and want to root.
I think that flashing kernel only of previous (5.0.2) root and then flash a recovery can help me.
It's true? Because if I can root in that way:
I have the full ftf file of 5.0.2 version...how can I flash kernel only of 5.0.2 from flashtool?
Someone can tell me which options I have to check and which don't on flashtool to flash only kernel?
Or can post me a link to a kernel only ftf of 5.0.2 for italian firmware or CE1 ?
Hello, i'm new here ^^
Anyway, i bought a moto z play in december of last year and i decided to root it with twrp software. It worked fine. Well, the android 7 nougat released and i really wanted to update my cellphone, but not by OTA. I removed the root using supersu and flashed a stock ROM hoping i would be able to do the update. I was able to download the new version but not install it. Later i discovered that the ROM i installed was a custom one so i cant update the android version anyway. I looked up for a original rom to flash in motorola's website but there's not roms to the moto z cellphones. After that i looked up for official stock rom 6.0.1 xt1635-02 on google but none of the sites looked like they were trustable. Can anyone tell me if there's any official stock rom for moto z play dual chip and a quick guide how to flash it using adb minimal fastboot?
Edit: I am from brazil, i just found out that the roms are different depending where you are from

No official signed ROM is available for this device ... So no official ROM
Though you can download stock ROM unsigned from the above given link
Hello I am on 5.0.2 now and managed to root and get twrp on there with success. I am trying to go into the latest version of lineage and after countless error 7 from twrp, I believe that I need to be 6.0.1 . Now where I am lost and need help with is really knowing what firmware I will need to get to 6.0.1. Will I be able to root any 6.0.1 firmware I choose or is their a particular firmware that I will need for the U.S region. Also being that this is a fairly dated device I see lots of previous development and many root versions from cf-root to king root. I am comfortable with both options and familiar with odin. I just need to know really what Marshmallow firmware do I want to use for my device and if there is a particular one I should use and whats the best way to root 6.0.1 . I would love to be able to run Lineage 14.1 but after hours of downloading software at 300kb I practically gave up to figured I will try again so any guidance would be great. Thank you
