Installed S5 current running /task manager app apk and sometimes it works ok and sometimes it stops working, don't want to do a reboot every time it stops.
My original S4 app got hoodwinked, can't find it in system.
Just looking for original apk so I can swap apps again .
If anyone has to share, it will be appreciated.

Can anyone help me figure out how to extract "task manager apk " from a system dump, been googling my brains out and can't find this app anywhere.
Note 3 uses the same task manager, but no luck finding it.
Installed S5 version but did not delete original task manager yet it's not in system apps.???
Any help would be appreciated.

Cause its named JobManager I believe. Pull it out of system/app/ from stock base in android dev
Thanks ShinySide, the current one I have S5 is called jobManager, checked the Note 3 and it's called taskManager.

I'm happily running SyndicateROM 1.1.0, so I don't want to change ROMs or really hack away at this one too much.
I was wondering if there was a way to edit the name of a shortcu/icon in TouchWiz?
I use Handcent, and as you can see the icon/shortcut name doesn't really fit. I'd love to be able to rename it to simply "Messenging" or "SMS".
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I use a program named APK Edit. It is a Windows program. Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890199

I'm assuming what I would need to do is download the Handcent APK, edit it, then either install it over top of my current Handcent or uninstall then install the edited one.
That said, would this cause issues with the app showing up under the My Apps section of the Market? Wouldn't this have to be redone every time I updated Handcent to a newer version?
I recently traded in my Arc for a Galaxy S II but I really miss the default calendar app for the Arc. I've tried extracting the firmware but can't find any apk file anywhere.

I've searched through the forums and found nothing that like this for the HTC Evo, which was really annoying since I can't seem to locate it in Astor, but it's on my phone, but I can' extract the .apk file. How can I locate it to create my own theme?

It is on your phone...data/app or system/app not sure...otherwise download the template from the theme chooser thread.
And you'll need Root Explorer to get the apk, I'm pretty sure it's in /system/app.
If you don't have and don't want to pay for Root Explorer - which I recommend because it's a great app - there are free alternatives. ES File Explorer has root capabilities, but I think you have to enable it in the app's settings.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the help. It was found under the ClockWork file through a lot of digging, but I did manage to find my Androidian.apk and cyanbread.apk. Again, much appreciated folks, the help was much needed.
Hi all! I'm wondering if it's possible to add this apk to my Galaxy S4? SGH M919, running stock rooted of course! It's a live wallpaper apk, extracted from an aosp rom on the HTC Sensation. Also from Tmobile. Now it's a regular apk but it was in the system folder so I don't know if it can be installed as a normal apk. It probably needs flashing or something. I've added the apk as an attachment. Thanks for reading!
Have you at least just try and install it like a regular app? Not going to hurt if it doesn't work. You could also use a file manager with root capability like ES file explorer or Root Explorer. Move it to system/app. Might work might not work, just give it a shot.

Hi,
I am running....
cm-11-20140131-UNOFFICIAL-i927
I would really like to have the Wind Mills live wallpaper back
I have the windy_weather.apk (CarpeNoctem)but it won't install for me. "Install Failed"
Have tried [APP] Windy Weather (Live wallpaper from GS2) for OneXL
"App not installed"
Would anyone care let me know if this app/live wall paper can be installed and give me some guidance specific to this phone and ROM ?
Thanks in advance
You have to locate the file manually from a file manager example:Root browser or CM Explorer, then /mnt/sdcard/download/(your apk)

Thanks stormdude124 for taking the time to respond,
I tried that using ES File explorer to get to and install the apk from downloads and after having moved it to the /system/apk directory, I've even tried restoring a Ti backup from previous Lite0.9 ROM
..no luck
That live wallpaper depends on TouchWiz framework, thus it only works on stock/stock-based roms.
