I am running the latest update on the YouTube app and I tried playing 1440 4G videos on the G3, for example I tried to play the Transformers trailer in 4G and I don't have the option to change the display to 1440, I only get 1080. I tried to uninstall the updates and tried it again, still doesn't work. Any help?
Thanks-Dan

I dont have the 1440p too with my app update to latest
This is a common fault with the new Youtube, we are all in the same boat.
Google removed the option, no one knows why.

it seems like I can't stream anything in HD. is there a setting for this? Both YouTube and Netflix apps streams in 360 or 480p even when HD button is on. it's kind of annoying when I know I can get better picture than that. What's the purpose of having a nice screen when you can only stream in this resolution? is there a way to force these to stream in 720p? or at least an apk that will work on Galaxy Note II. i've found some but it doesn't work on my NII. thanks.

For youtube you can go to settings but I think its HQ and for you to see videos you have to make sure whatever video you choose to watch is a HD video that way when it starts you can select the HD option button remember on youtube you have to hope that the uploader had recorded their videos in HD also. Now for netflix it shows on its own since I have lte I really never tried to see if their was an option for HD in the settings.

both of them shows pixelation even both the Netflix shows I watch and YouTube channels in am subscribed to is both available in HD. I cannot express how much I hate this.
I see you use Sprint version. have you tried comparing it side by side a laptop or desktop if they are the same? I tried comparing them and note II was inferior of the three, but when I run a video I have on my sd card it looks crisp.

this! I tried this earlier with TIBU but I can't install it. Apparently it stayed at my app drawer so it blocked me from installing it. I tried it again and worked like magic. it's finally streaming true HD! now we just need netflix. I tried some already but all of them won't work. It force closes on me. tyvm

mine didn't. It seems like it's not just me. There's a huge difference between the modded apk linked above than the one on play store. no pixelation and discoloration on the new apk. crisp and clear just like how it looks like on a laptop. but now it eats a lot more data which is fine since I have unlimited 4g nationwide. I guess I see why the official one doesn't offer true HD. ^^.
I hope somebody do something like that for netflix. I've searched but no one has a working apk on Samsung devices. :/

Download Tube mate (Google It) you can stream or download 1080P,720P,480P,360P HD videos on 3G/4G/LTE or WiFi. Works great for me. Also there's a modded Netflix APK that supports 720P. Google it as well. I don't like posting links because they may be considered as spam.

Hello all,
I just got my nexus 7 2013 yesterday! But if I update the newest version of YouTube, it will restart.
If I use any browser Chorme, Aosp, firefox , etc o play video clips from YouTube, or any video pages, it restarts.
I used to have problem with the camera also, but it was fixed with the new update! Has anyone experienced the same problems? And any suggestion to solve? Thank you

This is what I did:
Uninstalled New Youtube app, go back to old YouTube, and it works fine.
Deleted the old youtube and install the new one from play store => restart like crazy
Try to turn on "Force GPU 2D rendering", browsers could go a bit longer than 30 secs before restarting
Every browser has that problem.....
Camera, turned on, and restart, but in the newest firmware with the Q, it was fixed.
Apps like Vevo works normally.
Install Plants VS Zombies 2, restart every now and then

I've got very similar issues, any programs incorporating video randomly lock up and reboot the tablet. I've uninstalled the latest YouTube app and stopped it auto updating which seem to have stabilized that but stuff like Skype still lock up.
Brought mine back from the US to the UK and I'm going to try Asus support see what they say, otherwise I'll have to try rooting and maybe a custom rom in time.
Don't bother to root it! Just bring to Asus since it is official launced there! I rooted, tried a number of different roms, but still the same.
New error for me, flickering screen......

Thank you for uploading it to drop box, BUT when I try to download a toast pops up telling me that this object isn't supported on my device. I then navigated to the downloads app, and there was a green lock on both of those videos. I'm fairly new to android, but I'm thinking this has something to do with the permissions within the gallery, because I remember that same green lock when I used to watch those video's so maybe it has something to do with them being locked? And I factory reset after I moved the video's to a different holder's which is how I got rid of them in the first place.
Any reason why you want these videos? If it's for the sole purpose of showing off your screen YouTube has a much better selection of 4k videos check this one out http://youtu.be/EgKXcQ9PLuc

So, i created a thread in the verizon community about the pre-installed videos and was given a link to somones dropbox with both the videos and they work flawlessly. I downloaded them directly to my phone from his dropbox links, but cant link the damn things to XDA yet because I need at least 10 posts so if you want the link you can PM me or search the verizon community for "LG G3 pre-installed demo videos". I think the fact that we have the Verizon variant of the phone might have something to do with not being able to play the videos that were uploaded to this thread. Cheers!

I got it working with 5.10.1.5. Don't get why Google removed the option though. Are there any benefits to 5.9 over 5.10?

Thank you so much!!! I was incredibly disappointed that my brand new phone with a 2k screen could only get 720p youtube. Amazing clarity now.
So does anybody have a fix for hulu? On my HTC M7, there was an HD quality setting that was better than high. On this phone I can only get medium and high setting. Even high is pretty pixelated. Would love to see it in 1080p. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Yes the 1440 is very nice!. Had to uninstall updates, then install apk. And I'm running dalvik. Had a few issues with art and never saw a performance increase.
I'm running in ART mode, wondering if that is why I can't get 1080p or 1440p with the 5.9 version. Guess I'll switch back to Dalvik and see if that makes a difference.
