It is me or does it seem that we have lost the developers that we once had that moved on to newer device like we had with the Note, Note 2 and Note 3. I don't remember any other time when guys were not fighting to get a rom out there for a device???
Maybe it's just to new... T-Mobile has a few up....

My titles says it all, I have rooted my Telus SGH-I317M long ago but want to get into trying some custom roms (in particular, the ProBAM v4.4.2 "Strike!!" rom). Now, I have seven billion tabs open, and am learning this stuff as fast as I can, but... Can someone tell me whether I am to permanently treat my phone as an AT&T model when it comes to choosing a rom (AT&T vs. International, for example in this case)?
Thanks in advance for help in this matter, I don't want to step on any mines along the way....
YAY. Found the answer myself. For anyone else looking:

just upgraded to att note 4. i was using my rooted s4 with my appradio and AR unchained successfully. i was having an issue getting the phone rooted at first due to the software update carrying an updated kernel. i ended up flashing the s4 with the previous kernel version, which allowed me to then root the phone with towel root.
so my question is, why can't this same thing be done with the note 4?? my understanding is the s4 had a locked bootloader as well. i am not an expert on this stuff, but it seems to me that this should be possible with the note 4. i really just want to be able to continue use of AR unchained with the note 4 so i can get full mirroring in my vehicle.

That is a really good question. I'm a newb so quite uninformed but my one guess is maybe there's something really device-specific about kernels, so a device won't boot enough to be rootable, say crashes before it can.
But that's a good idea and something worth trying at least. We have images from AT&T phones and the T-Mobile phone, so the ingredients might already be there.

Yes Kernals are device specific. A S4 Kernal will not work properly (if at all) in a Note 4.
Ok, device specific kernel makes sense. I suppose I wasn't implying that the same kernel would work for the note 4, but more of just a suggestion as to how a root may be possible by manipulating the kernel to be note 4/root compatible.
I have the Note 4 developer edition. You must have root before anything can be started on the retail version.

Is there any progress or hope to get root on this phone???
Is anyone working on it???
Honestly I'm not to sure, currently I believe if there will b a root it will b for lollipop an I don't see a root coming out right when it gets released but hopefully will will have one by May or June.... like how the Note 3 was

Terrific work done here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2961974
Mods please lock this thread since it was answered.
I had the Note 3 and the Original Mega. I think all AT&T phone from here on will be had the bootloader locked since it has worked in the past and unless someone takes the challenge to break it all AT&T samsung phones will be doom.
that's why I moved to the Nexus 6.
still hopes someone take serious interest in MODERATOR EDIT - UNNECESSARY COMMENTARY REMOVED
Hi guys! I posted this question as I can't find anything with the same exact context nor anyone answering them, but I just wanted to ask if we can port Custom ROMs made for Note 2(Intl' Exynos Version) to our GT-N5100? Also, if someone already tried it, please let me know what happened.
I just so happened to recall that Note 8.0 has sorta have the same internals as the Note 2 so I've figured there might be a way.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
hello i am new to all this but first off thanks for all the work you put in here ...you guys are f-ing nasty at what you do..I love it!!:good::good:
So i rooted my phone about a week ago. twrp recovery, magisk, played around flashing roms, been reading, doing research etc. After a week of about 8 hours a day of playing ( i am not working at this time):silly:.... i see i have not even scratched the surface of rooting, etc. Anyway, after researching here and online i have not found a custom rom for my device. I am looking for a lineageOS rom but would be happy with any one that is compatible with my phone. Am i missing something here? I see lots of other roms for other devices and none for mine.. I am Assuming my phone is not that popular and may be the reason? Idk if it is good to say this here on an android forum but i usually use iphones lol... BUT android is def more interesting to me . Now here i am addicted to rooting/androids, flashing, roms etc! So i got this phone sort of just for that and maybe not very popular as i said? Either way still could use a few more hours in the day to play lol. Soooooo my question, Any info for a custom rom that at i can use or anything other info to help as a newbie is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all the great work, time, and creative thought process you put into all this here, (and wherever else you put all this cool [email protected]# together for us):good:
