How do i unlock my bootloader on Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-i747(AT&T).
So i can install some ROMS.
The boot loader is not locked. You need to install a custom recovery for your phone.
Oh ok,I already have a Custom Recovery.
So i can install it directly now...

i want to download custom boot so i should unlock my bootloader first? cuz in the first place i said i should unlock but then sm 1 told me its ok you shouldnt unlock the bootloader
If you mean the bootanimation, you won't need to unlock the bootloader, look at how some custom Roms with custom bootanimation are structured and try to make a flashable zip with the one you want.

Seems like he means he wants a custom ROM.
Some ROMs require a new kernel, so the bootloader needs to be locked.
Other ROMs can be flashed using a Nandroid restore in CWM that others have created. This method does not require an unlock
hi sorry for noob question.
i rooted my phone a while ago, and i think i remember unlocking bootloader but im not sure. i DO have TWRP recovery, does that mean that i had to unlock my bootloader to get it; thus it is unlocked?
thanks!

Since u r rooted and already have custom recovery flashed, there's no need to do anything else..u can now flash custom rom of ur need via recovery.
International Samsung devices have an unlocked bootloader when you buy it.
So it's necesseray but already done by the manufacturer.
A while ago I used towel root which doesn't unlock the boot loader. I then used the twrp manager to install custom recovery. I have tried flashing all by adb but that didn't work. I then tried flashing the boot loader but it said failed, boot loader is locked. Will i be able to unlock the boot loader then flash all then re lock the boot loader? Final question, would all of this allow me to download Android 5.0 OTA? Thank you, any help is really appreciated.
Do you have the proper drivers and the Android SDK installed and updated? Does your computer recognize the tablet? If so, yes you can unlock the bootloader. Find the guide in the Nexus 7 subforum and follow it step for step. Once you have the 4.4.4 stock image installed, you'll be able to receive the 5.0 OTA when it becomes available.
Now some questions:
1. There's no way to install a custom recovery with the bootloader locked. What makes you think TWRP Manager installed anything?
2. Why do you want to relock the bootloader?
Now a statement: Stop using toolkits. Read more before asking questions. Learn how to use adb and fasboot. If you have time to find this forum and actively post questions, you can take the time to learn the basics. I learned simply by following guides and searching for answers before attempting to do anything with any and all of my Android devices. This isn't any different from buying a car before you know how to drive.
Once rooted with towelroot or otherwise, you can unlock and relock the boot loader with an app. Bootunlocker for nexus devices, in the play store. This app method does not wipe user data.

You can flash TWRP with locked bootloader. I was even running 4 custom roms with MultiROM with a locked bootloader!

Is there a way to unlock the bootloader on my sch-i435? I would really like to install a custom recovery and ROM but it seems this would have to happen first.
I am looking for this info as well
Just unlocked the bootloader as per sony website word to word after rooting the phone. Now the phone is stuck at the boot animation from a long time and I am scared that it might be a bootloop. How can I resolve this? I need help urgently as this was not my own phone and I am relatively new to rooting and flashing custom ROMS. :crying::crying:
PS: I have not even changed the recovery to TWRP.
It's normal to have bootloop after unlocking the bootloader. Now tell me one thing, what do you want to have next? Stock rom or custom rom?

I want to have CyanogenMod 14.1
I can access fastboot only as far as I know.
Check out this video :
As you have already unlocked bootloader, you can install twrp. And then follow the video. And if you want to root your device, then also flash magisk zip.
Thank you
It worked!! Thank you so much.
