Hi,
I am trying another calling app and I have installed Contacts+, but it still uses the stock phone app after dialing the number. Is there a possibility to change or replace that part of the stock app with perhaps a Xposed module? I would also like to know, if you are using anything other then the stock calling app.
Thanks in advance...

The most calling apps use the stock dialer for incoming calls.
For outgoing calls some apps have their own surface like exDialer (very recommendable).

Hey guys. I had a sprint number that has since been disconnected. I am using MIUI now and I can send texts just fine using the Google Voice app over wifi. When I try to update to a new version of MIUI I can't go through the steps to verify my number because it no longer exists.
Anyone have a work around for this? I have tried restoring the app with titanium backup but it wants me to set it up again each time.
Stumped at to what to do. I set it up before without the phone number, but now I can't seem to figure it out.

+1, trying to setup Google Voice with a Line2 number, no success yet.
Won't be any either, they only support major carriers.
Just go to the online Google Voice settings and add a phone number in it. You don't have to keep the number on the account; it just needs to be there long enough to get through setup in the Google Voice app.
I have a deactivated device that I can make VOIP calls with using my Google Voice number with the native dialer, and text through the native SMS app.

Not sure I understand - of course it works on WiFi . The device is deactivated - how else would you be able to connect, and/or use the phone?

You can dial out with your stock dialer with Google Voice over just WiFi, without any service?
When I try that, it says Dialing with Google Voice, and then "Mobile Network not available" immediately afterwards and no call. What am I doing wrong? Also there seems to be no way to dial out from my Line2 VOIP line as if the number was my GV number. GV is confusing

Do you have it set up? You have to set up PBXes and it essentially uses Google Talk to connect to the internet dialer so you can make phone calls.
Just Google for the guide on setting up Google Voice with Android PBXes and native dialer.
Try Groove Ip. My Sprint Number has been disconnected & I been using this to make calls & texts over WiFi. I set it up fine after switching Roms but my voice number was already setup on the sprint # that has been turned off. Try going to your voice options on your browser & see if you can change anything there.

Does this use the Internet Calling features of the native dialer, or is the app required to make and receive calls? I prefer using the native dialer as it works correctly with bluetooth.

Thank you, this worked well, I'm still playing with it but, I think I'll be able to replace Line2. :good:
Update: After using it for a few days, I tried out Sparephone ($3 in the play store) and loved it way more. Now I'm working on a plan to switch to Ting and ditch Line2 (replacing with Sparephone and GV), and I'll be saving like, literally $140 a month (!!)....it sounds crazy but I'm pretty sure it'll work. I love GV!
Update: Yeah it totally works, no more Line2.
If you are on GB you can use Google voice version 3.2 and it will use your gtalk instead of having to use the phones number to verify. Also you can use groove IP or talkatone to make calls with Google voice. I have been using this way for 2+ years now with a Wifi Hotspot that I carry in my pocket. I am pretty much through with Mobile carriers now. If on ICS or JB then you would have needed to have confirmed a number at some point in the past in order to verify it with the newer version of Google voice. Unfortunately version 3.2 or older does not work with ICS or JB.
It's been an hour, I'm trying to find out how to use a third party dialer, like exDialer or Touchpal on the Note 2! I've tried a dozen of them and ultimately the call ends up in stock dialer.
I've checked the Application manager, and there is no default set on either Phone or Dialer storage app! I even froze the phone and dialer storage via Titanium, and that did close the stock dialer but still it won't allow me to use any other dialer.
Is anyone here who are using a custom dialer successfully? Kindly inform me then.
Thanks in advance.
'Continously inputted' from my GT-N7100
You can initiate a call with a custom dialer but the call will always go back to the native dialer, for example in the midst of the call you have to enter thinks on your keypad. That had always been the case for android OS. In my experience

I have the Google Dialer installed and working. The phone will take cell tower codes and execute them. I also have a working sip account setup in the dialer that makes and receives calls fine.
What I don't have is this:
I have a BlueAnt T3 headset. It pairs fine, but the only option is media use. Even after I select that and try to dial a number the dialer will switch back to the nexus speaker for output, then when I hang up it switches back to the headset. What am I doing wrong?
Anyone?
I have a Nexus 7 Deb, running unlocked and rooted stock 4.4.2 KVT49L with a Verizon Phone SIM. What dialer are you using? I have tried a few phone.apk files from other devices with no luck at all.

I'm using the Google dialer that I used to enable sms / mmi codes from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539407
it's so weird that bluetooth works, but the instant I make a call it switches back to the nexus internal speaker.

I think I have that installed, I installed xposed and the sms mod, but I cannot send MMS. If I try to make a call using hangouts or with google now it just hangs, and I have tried to install the phone.apk from other devices and they will not install.
I think the MMS failures are from wrong APN settings in either the device or the hangouts app. But my APN settings in android are missing, and the APN settings in hangouts do not save, (a known reportedly fixed bug.)
I also used TitaniumBackup to remove the "BasicSMSReceiver" so that I dont get double notifications when I receive a SMS.
Where do I get a actaul phone dialer apk?
Had anyone figured out how to get the aosp dialer working to receive and make calls with instead of the LG stock dialer? Or at least set hangouts dialer as default dialer?
I do know it can be installed but it appears as though the LG dialer is used for incoming calls and dialing numbers from search results.
I believe for full replacement, it has to be baked into the ROM.
That sucks.

You can get the AOSP dialer for making calls, but receiving calls is not possible unless you use an AOSP ROM (one is already out, but it's still missing Bluetooth and Camera for it to be fully functional).
Here are the instructions to get the Google Dialer installed:

There was some progress on the bluetooth issue, the fix is in the DeviantXone thread on the last page, seems like it doesn't work for everyone but it works for me
Hi, got OP7T Global (US), bought directly from OnePlus website.
I can't get the VVM work on T-Mobile using stock dialer. Anyone else having this issue? Any fix?
TIA
Following, I have the T-Mobile version and would love to have integrated visual voicemail working in the dialer app. I hate the fact T-Mobile forcing you to use their VMM app, it's terrible. @askdes if he even sees this, I hope they can give people options instead of forcing us to use crappy apps.

So even the T-Mobile 7T doesn't have the VVM working on stock dialer? I used to have 6T and it works with stock dialer

Install the T-Mobile visual voicemail app from the play store. Setup and activate your visual voicemail. You can then uninstall the app and it should work from stock dialer.

Uninstall it. All I needed to do was activate it then uninstall the vvm app. Then the stock dialer worked.

IDK how you guys are able to upload pics because the app won't allow me to do so but...
I figured it out. First uninstall VVM (if you already have it installed) then install it, set everything up, then uninstall it again. Once you uninstall it go to the dialer app, SETTINGS, CALL SETTINGS, VOICEMAILS, then check VISUAL VOICEMAIL

Here's the setting i have on stock dialer. Same on google dialer, i make sure all the VVM setting are correct
Still not working. Got NEW SIM card yesterday and talked to TMo tech support. They said they sent out OTA to my phone, rebooted the phone, etc. No luck
Just got the TMo 7T, VVM works right away using stock dialer and does not need to install the TMo VVM app. So now just need to wait to unlock SIM, and convert to Global OOS.
