[Q] Case helping grip? - ONE Accessories

I'm not sure whether it's the size/weight or the slippery, but I found holding OPO in one hand is not comfy.
Did anyone have a better experience after using an accessory?

I used many diff cases on my many phones before. Recently, carrying my OPO naked and loving it. I've never dropped a phone in the last 12 years. I carry mine in belt loop.

ive never used one, so i ordered one to try out
I had one for my old blackberry, and one for my eris, loved them both. I def plan on getting one for my D2.
I am returning my Otterbox Cummuter case. I was very disappointed with the fit of the top part of the case. It leaves a big gap on the lower left side, and when you slide the keyboard out, you have to push on that flimsy part. Seems like bad engineering. I think it would get snagged in my pocket also. I will be going back to the Seido Innocase - seemed a lot better after comparing the two.
Review thread @ droidforums.net /forum/droid-2-accessories/115571-droid-2-otterbox-commuter-case-review.html
I don't have any issues with my commuter case, but I will agree, I am disappointed with the build quality of it.
I have had Otterboxes for two of my Blackberries and had absolutely no problems with them. So I recommended the Commuter to my buddy for his Droid 1. The top part immediately broke within a couple days. He called Otterbox who happily replaced it for him. The second one immediately broke. When he called back they actually told him they know there is a problem with the Droid Commuter cases. However, they have no intension of stopping the sale of a bad product. I'm assuming the Droid 2 cases will most likely have the same problem. So I'm steering clear.
Just my 2 cents. I was a fan of Otterbox until they burned my buddy.

I've heard of people having issues, however I've had mine for a while. When I'm out and about its in my pocket. I've dropped it (onto a hardwood floor) once. I personally have had no issues with it...Except that it wont fit in the home dock or vehicle dock
Speaking of docks. I bought the really thin snap on case Verizon had in their store. I was thinking of getting a dock for my office. Does anyone have experience using just a regular droid2 dock with a case (before I run out and buy one?)

Yes it will work, the dock has an removable insert to fit phones with/without case. As does the vehicle dock.

Here is an interesting idea...in my search for the best cover/case, i have purchased at separate times both the otterbox and the verizon cover for the Droid2. IM now using the otterbox back, cuz it looks cool, and the verizon front because it fits better than the otterbox front. So far im liking my setup.

HTC One Diztronic TPU Case Review

Beast of a case right here. Extremely thin, lightweight, and several different colors. I wouldn't expect anything less than that from Diztronic.

If you guys have any questions about the case I would be happy to answer them. :good:
nice thanks !
Seems nice, but I can cover up this sexy phone with a case like that. I must be able to see it in it's glory. Lol I have pre-ordered a few Poetic Cases and will be in several weeks, they had issues at the factory the guy told me.

Beast indeed.
I bought one back when they were branded TC for my Galaxy S2 as a holdover until Seidio started selling a case. It was one of the cheapest on Amazon at the time. A year and a half and many miraculous saves later I'm retiring the phone in near perfect condition. I'm definitely getting one for my One.

Yeah, I got my first one back when I had my Galaxy Nexus LTE. After being happily surprised I got both the hard shell and TPU for my Nexus 4 and will be using this one on my future HTC One. Hopefully sales are good enough for the TPU that they release a hard shell case.
That gray looks sexy for sure. Anyone know if it will yellow over time though? I sure want it but scared it will look ugly in a few months time.

I ordered this case as well from amazon today. I can't help but notice the number of you guys posting from nexus 4 devices. Yeah I'm scared to make the switch to HTC and sense since I've had stock since the gnex lte but I've never owned an HTC device and I always thought sense looked nice. I've heard so many bad things about it that it has me worried, but I guess I've gotten bored of pure stock for a bit and its time to try something new. Either way I can't wait to try it out. Hopefully its worth it!

I got my Diztronic Gray TPU case today, and since I've been using the HHI (purchased from that $0.99 sale last week) I figured I'd share the differences having them both in hand.
As I said above, I had a Diztronic TPU on a previous phone and enjoyed it although it had a few flaws (excess molding flash around buttons, missing NC mic hole). Being a tightass I jumped on the cheap HHI case deal, figuring I'd take a chance on other manufacturers matching that same quality.
And I was rewarded for my cheapness with a cheap case. The HHI case has two big problems as far as I'm concerned. The cutout for the power button is pill shaped, following the contour of the button and projecting upwards away from the case. It doesn't leave much room for a finger to press, especially when trying to use your index finger when one-handing it. I remedied this with an X-Acto and a soldering iron to smooth the cut, opening up the button hole towards the back of the case. More troubling though is the fit around the front of the case. HHI managed to get the back of the case to fit the curves of the One nicely. However they didn't account for the bevel around the One's bezel. The side effect of this is that the corners don't stretch the front portion enough, leaving the sides to bow out a couple of mm at the center of each side. I don't think this would affect the function of the case in an impact, but at best it ruins the straight line aesthetic of this phone. One lesser annoyance is the molding seam that runs the entire perimeter, which isn't distracting to the touch but is very obvious against the transparent side pieces.
The HHI seems like it would be a functional case from the aspect of being protective: it covers the corners with shock absorbing TPU and protects the bezel where it counts. It goes in and out of pockets easily and the matte clear blends well with the color of the silver phone.
Today the Diztronic came in and the extra $11.51 proved well worth it. The Diztronic case fixes both of the issues I had with the HHI: the power button cutout is nearly flush with the button at the front and back, making it easy to push, and the front fits snug and stays straight along the edges. Like the HHI, the cutouts all line up ok, and while it doesn't make a functional difference the camera cutout is centered maybe 1mm too low. Unlike the HHI, the molding seams are small and in the corners. My previous TPU case experience was with a black case, so time will tell if I'll see this one turn yellow after a few months. If that happens (and supposedly it's inevitable with clear TPU) I'll buy the black version without hesitation.
TL;DR: The HHI and Diztronic TPU cases both do their jobs, but the Diztronic is well worth the extra money for the fit and finish.

Haha 'tis is true but I remember I got my HTC One S case for approximately $7 or so but
nevertheless I am quite content with this case! I just recieved it today, so far so good. I was a little concerned that it would cover the camera a little as the cutout looks really tight and possibly even touches the lens but it actually doesn't affect the pictures which is fine for me!
Otherwise I'm liking it! I feel like it is definitely a little more protected than it would be naked but slim enough to not make much of a difference although I do miss the aluminum unibody feel a little..
Just to add, definitely not going to protect much from a crazy fall or anything but I already knew that when I decided to purchase it.
Purchased this case after seeing everyone's reviews here. Thanks everyone!

I see where you're coming from, I'm mostly interested on buying a good tempered glass screen protector. That being said, the most I would pay is $40 US and a decent $10 case.
I like it!
I also like the looks of this case, but I have no experience with this brand. I'm a long time Otterbox user and have absolutely enjoyed peace of mind with a rugged or semi-rugged case on my smartphones in the past. I just ordered my N5 and I'm really looking forward to it as it will be my first Nexus devise but I knew that my accessory options would be limited for awhile. If a decent rugged case does hit the market I'll be all over it though. I tend to use my phones for three to four years so the investment of a high end case is well worth while in the long run. That being said...to each their own...some people are a lot more careful and don't need to worry about everyday drops and fumbles but I'm a frequent dropper.
If element does come out with a case I will probably buy the fake version for 25% of the price tbh haha.
I don't think you'll ever see a "high end" case like that for the nexus phones/tabets since there simply isn't enough demand for the phone/case. Meaning the manufacture(s) simply aren't interested.
For all the millions of accessories out there for the iphone/galaxy series, the nexus line only gets a few accessories in comparison. Couple of bumpers and a few cases of which a lot go by the same design. Nothing to "high profile" or anything.
Dang. That is a sweet looking case!

The Spigen Neo Hybrid Case and the Spigen Case Slim Armor are really high-end cases.
I've purchased them via Amazon together with the Spigen GLAStR Screen Protector and they look and feel much more high-grade than other cases like the Cruzerlite or the Ringke Fusion.
The Neo Hybrid fits extremely well and the screen protector is awesome.
It's much more smoother than the Gorilla Glass 3 and swiping and touching is just a dream.
Give them a shot if you search a high quality case.

Yep the hybrid case is great! It looks nice the power and volume buttons work flawlessly. My only gripe is the headphone hole. It won't work well for fat plugs like computer speaker plug for example. But since I don't use it that often it isn't too bad.

I've purchased "Pressy - The almighty button" and I think I can't use it with the Hybrid case.
I have the Neo and rate it as simply ok. It will keep the phone from getting scratched and doesn't look cheap and you have the feeling the phone may survive a drop. Or not. And yes, it is more slippery than the bare phone with a poor feel in hand. I also have the Seidio Dilex which is a little better looking and more likely to get your phone through a drop. That one has good feel in hand. There is still some hope that Casemate will come out with a tough case which I would buy in a heartbeat. Easily the best of any of the cases mentioned here all of which I've had in the past.
Spigen has the better looking cases out right now .I'm sure in time their will be more !!

[Q] Case that covers ports

Hey guys, I'm going to be traveling in a week and I wanted to grab a case that covers the ports just to be safe. I know otterbox usually has these types of cases but sadly they aren't making any for the N5. I looked through most cases on Amazon and all of them seemed to not cover the ports up. Has anyone come across one that does? Preferably under 30 dollars.

The Armorbox port covers suck, for lack of a better term. The TPS plastic doesn't serve well as port covers simply because the material is a little too rigid.
The Ballistic SG Maxx case however uses a silicone setup for the port covers. Works very well.

There are no otterbox cases for the N5 though.
Maxboost case purchased. I don't use the hip holster but the case is great for $9.99
Black case does attract lint but besides that covers all ports but leaves holes for the mic and 2 holes for speakers.
Surprisingly doesn't add much bulk despite the pictures looking like it does. In short I'm very happy from a fairly demanding customer.
I am however waiting for a Trident Case as a higher quality one with maybe some color. This is a great cheap option for people who want a decent quality case until the heavy hitters come out. :good:

Any "otterbox" like cases

I've looked quite a bit and cant really find any good cases that are like otterbox. Its not that i want an otterbox. I just would like something similar that covers up all the ports on the phone. There only seem to be 3. Maxboost hybrid, trident and i bason i think. But they seem to be cheap and dont fully cover the ports. I already have the maxboost, witch is ok, but its pretty cheap, and every time i pull it out of my pocket the bottom half slides off and i have to slide it back in place. Why is there no otterbox? They got something against the N5?, they even got a moto g case. Its all about the $$$

I just bought this, from fleabay, Cant really tell you too much, never had an otterbox..
I can tell you its pretty cool, and the front screen protector is nice, doesnt hinder touch too much
The problem you are going to most likely have with the ballistic (because I certainly do) is the need to remove it once a week or so due to the level of dust that somehow manages to transfer from inside your pocket or anywhere else to under the protector. Unlike an otterbox which actually tries to keep dust out at the top, this is a wide open door. Also, it takes some getting used to looking at the case because of how much the 4 corners bulge out - definitely not the prettiest case around.
But I fully appreciate this case for what it does do right - I have dropped my N5 on concrete numerous times and it's sometimes funny to show off how good of a case it is to people I meet by just saying "oops" and dropping it from shoulder height onto pretty much any surface below. See the looks on peoples faces - worth the money right there. Lol

Spigen Slim Armor, I have been using it for months. Looks great, protects well, and doesn't add much size to the phone. $15 for the smooth black, great deal
http://www.spigen.com/nexus-5-case-slim-armor.html
Looks arent as important to me, im just worried about the protection of the phone and ports
Most people haven't heard of it but Siedio makes amazing full body protective cases.
Search Google for the Seidio Convert Combo Case Nexus 5. (I'd give you a link but I have 2g right now)
The case makes your nexus 5 a little bulky, but not much heavier ime. It has covers for the ports and its a 3 layer case with a good quality screen protector included.
Honestly, I believe that the Spigen Slim Armor is quite overpriced for what you get. i say this having actually bought one myself. The software is totally rubbish. Also, since it depends on using the proximity sensor to activate the screen, it causes numerous issues with that as well. you could always use it without the software, but it still doesn't change the fact that you just paid $45 for a piece of plastic with a hinge.
+1 on the seidio convert case. I just got it from the android central store during one of their last sales and I love it. It comes with the seidio surface hard shell case with kickstand which is pretty slim and protective on its own, but it also comes with the thicker rubber outer case and hard shell for structure and more protection (and protects/covers the ports), plus it comes with a locking holster that you can switch mounting attachments on between the standard belt clip, or the car mount, running arm band, bike handle bar mount (sold separately).
The case is awesome, I couldn't say more good things about it, great shock protection, great dust protection, light water protection, great button response, and the ability the simply use the surface case in its own right makes this well worth the money!
