today I've updated my Z1C on latest firmware 14.4.A.0.157 (Italy)
Unfortunately, "EasyRoot Toolkit" for the moment does not allow the root ... and then I went back to have a phone that can not write to the SD ... that sucks !!
So, I read on thread that it's possible flash older kernel only (.108) , root and flash new kernel.
Can someone link me where are older and new kernel for my Z1C Italy? And tell me if works and if phone goes well?

As you can see from the screenshots (which I'll explain below), I used an old version of flashtool for personal reasons. The file I had created in the past using Faulty old instructions:

However, there is no longer the program SEUS / SUS reference, it should find the file in the folder of PC Comnpanion if the operation did now, at least that is what I suppose. You probably have the latest information to get your files .ftf.
I am writing this because as you may be able to get your files updated kernel itself.
I can not because with root permissions I can not update (verification problems after downloading OTA and PC Companion does not recognize me the ahggiornamento available .. and I do not want to reset all doing the repair because I do not have time to reinstall everything)
That said, having seen myself the "new procedure" to get root permissions, but it is not a "geek said," I put the pictures just to make you see the choice of 2 files uploaded to Dropbox:
kernel.sin and rpm.sin
because, using the flash with flashtool to do and letting selected from all but the kernel file, I have left out ques 2 files, but I'm not sure both are needed. This, unfortunately, are not able to evaluate it, maybe you can confirm this in the other thread

Questo purtroppo non sono in grado di valutarlo, forse te lo possono confermare nell'altro thread perchè sicuramente volevano farto fare l'operazione dal file .ftf completo e non avresti potuto eliminare questo rpm.sin (ma serve?)
Da queste immagini sono quindi andato a rilevare i file scompattando l'ftf in questione e selezionando entrambi che ti ho reso disponibili.
Probabilmente, se trovi i file dalla cartella di pc companion per creare il nuovo .ftf dal nuovo FW , poi con flashtool ti basterà fare la selezione senza scompattare come ho fatto io.
Più di così non ti posso aiutare, ma almeno hai il file vecchio a disposizione per ora.

Un'ultima cosa (spero), mi tornerebbe utile che scarichi i file per farne dei mirrors in quanto sul mio dropbox non potrò tenerli a lungo perchè è adibito ad altre cose e non posso mantenere in eterno questi files, quindi, tra qualche giorno, potrebbero diventare link inutili.
Naturalmente, se nel frattempo aggiornano i tool per ottenere i permessi di root, i file non serviranno più, ma sicuramente non posso aspettare finchè non arriva lollipop

I have tried to flash old kernel .108 but failed, i don't know why maybe because locked bootloader. Is there easy method such as towelroot to root fw .157?
Right now I do like this, flash fw .108, root n cwm, then update OTA. Root n cwm are still working. But do not deodex fw .108, OTA update will fail to verify.

Exactly happened the same to me before using PC Companion to update...
How did you flash 108? I managed to mess up things a bit, flashing the OTA without uninstalling xposed before, and now I can't mount system rw, and xposed won't work, so I was thinking of going back to 108, rooting, dual recovery, and recover the backup I did.
Right now I can't even install dual recovery.

I use the flashtool to restor the 108 fremeware .
But remenber if you use this procedure then you have to also restor the TA partision , otherwise you won't be able to update thrugh the sony . So make sure you ve backed up your ta pertition .

But both manuals are a bit complex / unclear to me how to proceed. This is my wifes device so i dont want to brick anything :-\ And to make it worse: I need the german files if country does matter for this problem

So I did the steps and SuperSU still fails to update binaries and xposed framework is also not working probably resulting of the same cause. Please hep!!

I was able to root my 157 as per your method....
Managed to get root working by flashing 108 kernel and use EasyRootTool 12.3, then reflash 157 kernel! Many thanks!

In the meantime I found I had a 108 ftf from when I rooted the phone, so I flashed that one excluding TA. It worked, even the OTA after rooting worked and now both root and system write work.
Later, with the z2 tablet, I found that to restore system write I only needed to have run the dual recovery installer, as it will disable sony_ric. Oh well, at least titanium backup worked and I was able to recover all my stuff.

Run the dual recovery installer. It will disable sony_ric and enable writing to the system partition.

maybe it works:
get an upgrading tool (better the one you used to load current version)
run hpRUU.exe, let it read current version but don't push "upgrade".
now rename upgrade.nbf to something you like (ex: upgrade.nbf.old)
put in the folder the real upgrade and rename in upgrade.nbf
push upgrade
it should work.

per il tuo problema penso possa risolverlo così:
prendi un tool di upgrade (meglio se è lo stesso con cui hai caricato la versione corrente).
lanci hpRUU.exe, gli fai leggere la versione attuale ma non cliccare su upgrade.
a questo punto rinomini il file update.nbf in quello che vuoi tu (es: update.nbf.old) e metti nella cartella il file di aggiornamento che vuoi caricare sull'ipaq e lo rinomini in update.nbf.
dovrebbe partire con l'aggio.

I've cooked a ROM using dxixda's kitchen based on the 2.13.401.3 euro stock ROM - it's the stock ROM with tweaks like root etc - full details to follow, but it is completely stock (I may have removed stocks and maybe 1 or 2 other apps - friendstream etc) and I have added Apps2sd functionality also.
Working lovely on my handset - stable, fast (not blistering but a large improvement over base settings) and seems somehow to have lost the touchscreen issues I was having
I've done 2 flavours with the standard kernel and one with OC kernel from m1ndh4x8r.
I can't post them up in the Dev section as I don't have the requisite numbers of posts yet, but watch this space - I'll post a link when I can!

this is my guide...it is in italian, but with google translate you can translate it:
OVVIAMENTE C'E' BISOGNO DI AVERE IL TELEFONO IN S-OFF , OVVERO SBLOCCATO. QUESTO SI PUO' FARE O ACQUISTANDO UNA HTC-CLIP OPPURE TRAMITE HTCdev.
1) Scaricate il file PG76IMG.zip da XDA Developers,questo è il link: http://www.mediafire.com/?p2p88udo32m9xcg ;
2) Spegnete il telefono, rimuovete la batteria e la scheda SD, mettete sulla scheda SD il file appena scaricato e rimontate il telefono;
3) Accendete il telefono premendo VOL - e POWER contemporaneamente: apparirà una schermata celeste, se siete un pò pratici della lingua inglese seguite le istruzioni, in poche parole vi dirà di voler installare questo file. Dovete premere VOL + dopodichè aspettate che si installa e alla fine vi farà premere il tasto POWER per farvi riavviare il telefono;
4) Spegnete di nuovo il telefono e rimuovete la scheda SD, togliete dalla SD il file PG76IMG.zip;
A questo punto avete due opzioni:
a) Restare con la vostra ROM originale e acquisire i permessi di root
b) Installare una ROM cucinata
Ma non vi preoccupate, il procedimento è ESATTAMENTE lo stesso.
5a) Mettete il file root.zip scaricabile in fondo a questa pagina ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1195275 , e accendete il telefono di nuovo premendo VOL - e POWER e spostatevi nella sezione RECOVERY con i tasti volume e premete il tasto POWER per selezionare;
5b) Scaricate una ROM cucinata, potete trovare i link tranquillamente nel forum (io ho aggiunto quelle che per me sono le migliori e che ho testato personalmente in fondo alla pagina) dopodichè mettetela nella SD, cancellate sempre però il file PG76IMG.zip dalla SD e poi riaccendete il telefono con VOL - e POWER insieme, spostatevi nella sezione RECOVERY con i tasti VOLUME e selezionate con il tasto POWER;
6) Si aprirà un nuovo menù dove dovrete selezionare WIPE DATA e WIPE CACHE (bisogna andarci sopra sempre con i tasti Volume e confermare con il tasto Power);
7) Selezionate poi INSTALL ZIP FROM SD e scegliete il file che avete messo nella SD, confermate e il gioco è fatto;
8) Riavviate il telefono e avrete i permessi di root sulla vostra ROM originale nel primo caso, nel secondo caso avrete invece installato una ROM cucinata...
Buon lavoro e buon divertimento con il vostro "nuovo telefono"

Today i'd like to contribute by making, uploading and sharing the latest ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) firmware for Sony Xperia S (LT26i).
This is the official Italian (no brand) (SI: 1257-5499_R4G) ftf of the 6.1.A.2.50 firmware, you can flash it with FlashTool, if you don't know how to do it follow this guide, one of many you can find around the web. Don't worry, the process is quick and simple.
You can use this firmware everywhere (it's not only for the Italian territory) and of course you can choose the language right after you install it (lots of languages included, even many Arabics and Asians one).
If you need to have root permissions on this firmware, it is possible. Just follow one of the guides you can find here on XDA. If you want, i updated my guide on how to root ICS (i wrote the guide for the previous firmware, now that i updated it i show how root this one too). The guide is very simple and noob-proof.

Installed 1st time with Flashtool, Bin4ry root with restore works, so does recovery for XperiaS.and seems to be quite fast.titanium seems to be restoring apps and data. seems to be ok. Many thanks for the upload.

New baseband and in my experience it feels really faster. Not just an impression, it's something noticeable.

Sorry i don't have much time lately. If maybe someone can do it i will add the link in the opening post or i'll do it when i'm free but don't count too much on that. Why can't you flash the ftf with flashtool?
Can you post Home.apk and HomeAdd.apk?
after extract the zip, I got 407 MB ftf... compared 622MB on 2.45 (and previous sony lt26 ics fw around 600MB). Is it normal?
Installed this and on first run (phone works fine it seems) a message appears saying:
Error: Error processing purchase.[DF-BPA-10]
WTH is that? I've never received an error like that after updating firmware. Also, extracted file size is much smaller than previous ftf files. This is very odd.

As far as I know thats a play store error go to settings > applications > all tab > select play store wait and then clear data and reboot the device. The issue should be fixed ....

Seems camera focusses faster now, but video focus is still slow as ever.
Edit: Just cleared data for camera under the apps section and reselected all the camera options - not sure if it's just in my head but video camera focus seems faster now also. Will be testing over the next few days. Lets hope the focussing issues under low light are gone.

No it is not normal from the other post "World" is the italian to you have 648 after download.
i recommend to clean install then flash the firmware , later root .. and it will work

haha.. well then sorry OP. Your uploaded ROM is good.
after extract ftf and create bundle by myself I got exact 648MB ftf.
I think it just compression problem, but no problem at all.

That happens when Dalvik Cache is cleared afaik. But from what i see around, there may be many possible reasons causing your problem (do you have Titanium Backup?). I can't really help you here as i'm not getting that message every time i turn on the device, try to look it up on Google or here on XDA, i'm quite sure you'll find the solution pretty soon.

Please read the other posts before asking. Sony doesn't release an official changelog as far as i know, so my answer is still this.
And i can confirm that this firmware is quite faster than the previous one in tasks like closing or opening apps, browsing through menus and text messages and so on, at least for me.

I have a sony xperia s bought in swiss; so when i search a official update in sony pc companion there isn't. My last software is 6.1 A 245. Can i install this new software in my phone or swiss phone doesn't work?

Hello dear friends .. today I present the only guide to root for Ngm Wemove Polaris! Running at 100% tested and developed by me ... It should be noted that some of the material has been taken from another guide other smartphone ! As usual, I do not take any responsibility for what you do, everything at your own risk ... But anyway the root and was created on the official rom using a fake backup then everything is original and intact and not lost raganzia; ) ....
requirements:
1:50% charge
2: Do not skip steps or you're ****ed
Download Files:
find the link attached at the bottom
installation:
inside the rar file there is a program and a folder ..
Please follow each step of this guide
1: install PdaNet on our PC and follow the instructions that provides the program .. Ps: when is the only software able to install the drivers of our Polaris .. what did you have the drivers to begin with.
2: extract the folder on the desktop PC and connect your phone to pc via usb with the usb debugging option.
3: we open the extracted folder on your desktop and run the file "Runme", a window will open and from there follow the instructions carefully ..
If you did everything as I explained above on the phone you will see the window that requires a backup, press ok ... do not disconnect usb, at the end of the backup will ask you to restart your phone, reboot .. do not disconnect usb ..
after restarting the program will complete the operation and will ask you to press ok to exit the program .. and here we find on the menu superuser...: D: D
in the future I will work for ClockworkMod and room

It worked perfectly, I was looking for weeks for rooting my phone, I've also installed avast anti-theft wich requires root permissions and it didn't encounter any problems.

Ciao Pollo94,guarda la guida al momento e l'unica testata e funzionante e soprattutto non modifica niente,infatti se avessi problemi ti basta soltanto ripristinare il backup e tutto torna per com'era
Riguardo alla lingua ahahahahah eh si mi sono fidato a google translator mi spiace per gli errori ma in Italiano di sicuro neanche mi facevano pubblicare!!!cmq cerco qualcuno per creare un gruppo per questo benedetto Polaris..

Scusate ma ho dei problemi, faccio tutto come da istruzioni, quando apro il programma "runme" scelgo l'opzione 3, però il dispositivo non mi chiede l'aggiornamento pur essendo collegato via usb ecc...quale potrebbe essere il problema? Ho eseguito "runme" con i diritti di amministratore, dopo aver premuto 3 saltano fuori un mondo di scritte con "impossibile trovare il percorso specificato"

ho fatto downgrade da una ui 2.5 ad una ui 2.1 per recuperare Gcam ... ho salvato il firmware ufficiale dal sito sammobile, e installato con odin fin qui tutto ok.
successivamente all'avvio alcune applicazioni come samsung notes smette di funzionare, successivamente ho eseguito il root ed ha installato la twrp con magisk fin qui tutto ok. Ora mi ritrovo che il playstore non funziona, provo a scaricare delle app ma mi esce la dicitura SPAZIO ARCHIVIAZIONE INSUFFICIENTE ma non è vero.
Se non aggiorno le app crasheranno sempre, come google chrome che smette di funzionare subito come posso modificare la cartella partizione?
