ok first of all I've been searching SO long for this, I WANT to flash a rom but don't know which one will work! I cant find Any straight forward answer like if my phone isn't even capable of flashing!
NOTHING! its ready to go ok, IVE ALREADY rooted it, cwm backed up, have SU, have Rom manager
Its a T989,GB 2.3.6,UVLDH,2.6.35.11-1209942
Please if anyone knows what i need to do HELP ME!
What rom do i need to jump on that'll work to eventually flash to kit kat or anything better than GINGERBREAD!?
Come on guys, desperately in need to flash
Thanks in advance and very much appreciate what ya'll do for us.
First... It would be best to start over. Flash stock 4.1.2 stock firmware with Odin.
Then flash the latest recovery and ROOT. Then you should be fine to flash custom roms.
?
I have no links for you, cause most threads here have dead links for 4.1.2. Best to google it. sammobile. Com should have it.
---------- Post added at 01:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:26 PM ----------
And Odin 3.04 or 3.07 are probably best. Make sure any kies processes are killed or Odin will fail.
Definitely agree with "Darth" here.
First update your device to 4.1.2
Then root and CWM/TWRP Recovery and then you'll be good.
If you want a smooth and fast rom for you t989 then go for Cyanogenmod 11 that's kitkat

Are you on 4.3 or an earlier version?

This is where I always find what I need
http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Devices/Samsung Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710)/
If you are already on 4.3 MK3, then that is the file you need to download. Anything before that will brick your phone. If you are on 4.1.2 MD4 or earlier you can choose any one you want.

Thanks i have no idea what AOP i beleive it is 4.12
I will try to flash the latest STOCK ROM 4.3 and see if i can get it working.
if i use MK3 and my phone is 4.12 you saying it will brick it ?
just want to make sure i pick the correct ROM can you kindly clarify which ROM i should flash first
thanks
If you flash 4.3, you cannot use Odin to go back to a previous version, that's what will brick it. You should flash 4.1.2. It does not have the Knox bootloader.

No problem
I made a mistake, I installed the ROM [ ROM] [TouchWiz 4.4.2] *eZKAT*, then flashed with the patch wifi, as it not to work I returned to my previous ROM DN3 v3.2 but since I do not have IMEI anymore.
I have even to flasher with official ROM but anything makes for it, always not of baseband.
Official ROM used:
N7105XXDMB6_N7105XEFDMB3_N7105XXDMB1_HO ME.tar.md5 and N7105XXALJ5
How can't get my imei ?
You made a backup of your EFS.
If you didn't then it will be really hard to restore your own IMEI. You shouldn't try to revert back your bootloader.
Give more info what you did exactly?
Which bootloader have dn3 rom?

For my EFS i have a backup done with TWRP.
My phone: n7105 LTE
when i was DN3 and before flash [ROM][TouchWiz 4.4.2] *eZKAT*, i have 4.1.2 bootloader.
baseband : N7105XXUEMJ9
bootloader : N7105XXDMA5
OK what i do, well first i flashed eZKAT and flash wifi patch (because wifi don't work and after still don't)
Then reboot and see that i lost my IMEI
Then i tryed to flash 4.1.2 rom stock and restore EFS with TWRP, but not work still no IMEI
Finaly i restore my DN3 4.3 v3.2 from TWRP and have
now no baseband
bootloader: N7105XXDMB6
Now i don't no what is my bootloader
There is an app phone info samsung on the play store. Get it and check . here are many threads started by user who tried to restore their IMEI. Try to search in the forum you will find many useful info.
And you have your backup so it should not be so bad. Me I m not rooted stock so I'm not so qualified to guide you. Search the forum.

first of all go to sammobile and get 4.3 stock rom for your region. Then boot into recovery and wipe everything. Then flash the stock rom u downloaded via odin.if you have not flashed the ezkat rom via odin. Then this will solve your problem. Most probably you would have flashed the ezkat rom via recovery so its no big deal as flashimg via recovery does not change your bootloader. So go flash a stock rom 4.3 version via odin.it should silve your problem if it still exist then root your phone(after flashing stock 4.3 rom via odin) then get twrp recovery and try restoring your efs.good lu k

Don't burn him too hard, people are sometimes too ready to offer their suggestions, and, well, yes sometimes people are too willing to act before understanding and confirming.
Anyway. IF you've flashed a 4.3+ stock rom in odin, booted to recovery and full wiped and it still doesn't work, then it looks like flashing a stock rom in odin isn't going to cut it. My next step would be google and xda, find what others have done, and not take the first answer without confirmation. Eventually if all else fails I would get the the right pit file and stock rom and flash both in odin with pit and erase all nand checked as well as the normal two, again boot to recovery and full wipe. Anyway, I do not know if that will relieve your issue at all. But from that point I would imagine installing a custom recovery and restoring a known working backup isn't a bad shout, of cause tripping knox as I imagine has already been done.

I keep telling him he kinda has 4.3 bootloader from tmobile/at&t and can't downgrade bootloader so try upgrading to 4.4 stock see if that fixes it. Unless his bootloader gets upgrade he'll be stuck with param.bin file in wrong place and no signal

If it's the Samsung screen u need to go into factory recovery and do a factory reset. If u stuck at the note 2 screen u need to use odin and use the modified restore that was posted on the 4.4 update discussion thread. i think i used odin 3.4 or something. Ill turn my computer on to see.

ok to make things short as possible. i dont want this discussion to get out of hand and i will be as helpful as possible. I was stuck on the samsung note 2 screen. i couldnt get past it. tried everything for like 2 days and then rwilco12 posted his modified 4.3 restore on page 50 of the Note II - the 4.4.2 update - discussion thread. all i did was flash that through Odin3 v3.04. just reboot checked on PDA. nothing else. when it rebooted it took a while but it booted to the samsung screen that changes colors. it stuck there so what i did was reboot into recovery mode and did a factory reset. after that it booted into 4.3 no problems.

Honestly I'm not quite sure. What u could do is use billards mc2 then ota to 4.3 and when u reboot if u soft brick again just use the modified restore again. If u want to try it go ahead no harm in trying. i might try it later but chances are its going to fail anyways. Since downgrading from 4.4 is what caused the problem in the first place.

Puffyjello,
I simply flashed the OTA 4.4.2 in stock recovery and rebooted to the update no problem. No new Odin's of MK4 or anything, just flashed the OTA after i used your method to unbrick.
I then Odin'd Philz, flashed SuperSu and now im rooted and on 4.4.2, no problems.
Again, thanks for the help with the 'unbricking'!

Np. And what I thought u meant was going back to mc2 from 4.4 then ota to 4.3 and see if it bricks again. I wasnt sure if it would. Ne ways I'm glad everything's fixed. And I hope anybody that has this problem follows what fixed our phones. you guys take care. Running stock deodexed ne2 and loving it. Can't wait to try out their s5feat rom when they release it.
Does the LJC_Stock_With_Count_Reset[FINAL].zip still work after ota 4.4.2 ?
This to me is the best back to unrooted stock. It resores the LJC PIT, kernel, and modem. Compared to all the other stock roms; I find this one read and writes easier with QPST & CDMA-ws.
Im currently running stock rooted MC2 with stock LJ1 baseband.
In my opinion so far this is the recipe for this phone. Oldest basebands seem to have better battery life. I'm not really sure if the newer modems are actually faster causing the battery to drain faster, or generate more compression and share more detailed information with big brother which would also cause it to slow down.
I have this theory the manufacturers purposely slow peoples equipment down with the OTA after the first couple years to motivate them to buy the newer model flagships that supports the same software more efficiently. maybe I'm just crazy but can someone please try the back to LJC stock unrooted. and let me know if it works better than the back to stock MC2.
plus it could possibly be better doing all the OTA to 4.4.2 from an older stock rom.
I've been out of the loop for a while (was still running rooted 4.1.1 until last night), it's crazy how much has changed and I pretty much forgot how to do anything with my phone. I managed to get myself up to stock, rooted 4.4.2 with SuperSu installed and KNOX disabled without pestering anyone on the forums. Do I need to unlock my bootloader to use Jrummy's Rom Installer for a custom recovery and rom?
I used Towelroot (which is amazing btw) if that makes a difference.
And this is of course an att i747.
Thanks for any help
edit: I suppose I should also ask if using Rom Installer is a good method or if GooManager is still around, or should I just flash roms through recovery.
No the boot loader is fine you should be able to flash a costom recovery like always with Odin, then find your ROM (make sure its 4.3 and up) do the standard wipes and flash and you should be set......since your on 4.4.2 you can't downgrade the boot loader or modem to 4.3 or else you will hard brick
Ah good to know, I guess I was mixing the terms boot loader and recovery. Just to confirm - none of the 4.3 ROMs would come with an incompatible modem then right?
Also any opinion on Rom Installer?
Thanks
No none should....stay away from Odin flashables though.....if you just use custom Roms 4.3 onward you should be perfectly fine
---------- Post added at 06:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:40 PM ----------
I have never used ROM installer, I have used ROM manager by CWM and the lack of Roms on that app kills it for me.....can't speak for ROM installer though
Perfect, thanks buddy.
I've got an old T989D still running the GB Juggernaut 4.1 rom and I'm looking to move up to the latest PA build. I'm wondering what steps I should take to make the upgrade go smoothly as I haven't flashed this thing in over a couple years. Do I need to update recovery? (It still has CWM 5.0.2.7) And what about the radio? (Despite being the Canadian version of the S2, this was and will be used in the US.)
Any and all help would be super appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, you will need to upgrade your recovery. Go to teamw.in and download the latest TWRP recovery (should be 2.8.*.*)
Idk which radio you are on. Make a backup in twrp and wipe and try flashing a KK ROM. It will tell you if you need to update your radio. There is a thread on XDA with the new radios that are flushable in recovery.
Edit: see this post for more info. forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56553266&postcount=3
Thanks for the help. I'm going to check into flashing the new recovery and then the radio (latest T-Mobile one as that's the carrier this will be used on) and rom. Will ask if anything else comes to mind. Otherwise, here's to not soft-bricking the thing!
Just to pile on here real quick:
I have a rooted (CWM 5.something) stock GB (2.3.6), baseband T989UVLDH. It is my understanding that I need a later version of CWM to flash one of these images, i.e. the recovery has to be compatible with the rom, but I don't know to what degree. So, to clarify... In case something goes wrong, I wanted to back up the current system. Please comment on the following scenarios:
1. Back up my current system with the currently installed CWM, restore with the updated recovery. Will that work?
2. Back up current system right after flashing a new version of CWM (or TWRP) and booting into it. Will that work? Importantly, will the new recovery allow restoring an old system?
In addition to possible issues with radio, what about network settings, including data and wifi calling? Right now everything seems to be in automatic mode, will that work with a new ROM out of the box, or will I need to manually set it up?
Thanks.
