Bug : whatever USB mode I choose, Desire will always connect as Mass Storage

Hello everyone,
Actually, everything is in the title
I've hard reset'ed my phone (Desire - Stock 2.2), but this bug is still occuring :
When I plug the phone to any computer via USB, I get the popup letting me choose the USB mode (Charging only - HTC Sync - Mass Storage - USB modem). But whatever item I choose, I get the desire working as Mass Storage.
Strange thing is that anyway, the selected item is still working. Meaning, if I choose 'HTC Sync', I get HTC Sync PLUS mass storage. Same thing for other choices.
Any clue about how to get it work as genuine ?
The main issue with that is that I can't plug my phone for charging ans listening to music at the same time...as SD Card is unmounted.
Thanks
BR

have you installed winamp beta?
Indeed !
Do you imply this is the cause ? If yes, is there a workaround ?
Hi
I had same problem as above poster, but on DeFrost 5.7.
Uninstalling Winamp Beta solved the USB storage problem.
Annoying, because I love the winamp program, but doesn't want to corrupt my SD card (I use a2sd+)
Just disable the first option in settings
Thanks dapezz, that did the trick.

Winodws 7 does not recognize my desire as harddrive...

Ok i have had it up to here...
No matter what freaking rom i had flashed - my win 7 pc does not really recognize my desire as usb mass storage device - first it started out that i had to run my device manager before win7 would recognize my desire but now not even that helps anymore,,,
i want those good old days back where stuff just..... worked....
it is a real pain to do all the stuff if you can not connect yourn desire as usb mass storage device - even though it works perfectly well in the recovery menu (mount usb)...

[Q] Update Problem? Please Help.

Since I have installed this update I can no longer access the storage on my one via usb to pc? Before the update I would just plug the usb in and windows would ask if I wanted to open this mass storage device and I would just click yes and then I was in. Now there is nothing. I tried explorer but cant gain access that way either. Is there something I need to install or change in the phones settings now? Also what the hell is MTP mode? Running stock 4.3 now and was stock 4.2.2 before this update. Do I need to update a driver on my pc now to accommodate 4.3? I am drawing a blank now as to what the deal is??? Can someone please point me in the right direction? And yes I have tried different usb cables
MTP mode is what google uses since 4.2. basically instead of the phone dividing up the available memory for apps / storage it now puts all available storage together for you to use what you need it for. before you would get phones with 8gb storage and 1gb would be dedicated to apps, 7gb for storage. when you installed too many apps you would run out of room on the 1gb and start trying to figure out how you could move apps to sd-card to get more storage, etc... now with MTP you don't have that issue. there is no preset to how much storage can be used for what.
you should not need any additional drivers other than what windows will automatically install when a new device is plugged in. also, my phone shows as a device now in explorer and not as a drive letter.
is it possible when you plugged your phone in via usb cable that you accidentally cancelled the new device install? perhaps you can go to your device manager with the phone plugged in and see if there are any devices with an yellow ! point and then try to reinstall drivers for that device.
I don't understand. MTP mode is the only way that the HTC One ever interacted with a PC. To my knowledge, Google removed USB Mass Storage as of JB 4.1

My Windows 10 doesn't detect any phone mass storage

Hi... Since the time I upgraded my Laptop to Windows 10 its unable to detect the mass storage for any phone. USB Pendrives are working perfect but the phone storage is not showing up.
My phone is HTC One X and Redmi Note 4G. I tried several other phones as well.

because they don't have mass storage they have only MTP by default you will have Mass sorage only with custom rom if support mass storage or custom kernel with mass storage

HTC M8 connected to Windows 10 not opening

I'm using crdroid on a rooted, s-off HTC M8 and I cant seem to see the internal memory or sdcard folders through htc m8 device when I plug the USB cord into my computer. However, when I boot into recovery I can move items from and to sdcard or internal memory.
Do you have HTC Sync installed? If not, try installing it. If so, tryin re-installing it.
Or go into Windows device manager, find the phone, and pick the option to manually select drivers, and pick the generic Android MTP drivers. See if that helps you see the internal storage on the PC (I need to do this on my Win7 PC).
I got it fixed...had to mess around with some settings and presto, magic !!
