Hello,
I think I bricked My Galaxy S3.
What happened was I flashed a kernel through CWM and now the boot up stops on a black screen after the logo. I can get into download mode though. I am also on a Mac so I do have heimdall.
Can somebody PLEASE help me find the proper solution to all of this?
I know, I'm such a noob.

What he said, get into Download mode, flash it with a stock .tar through Odin. Then reset all settings through CWM(dalvik, wipe cache, data/factory reset).
Why not just boot into recovery and wipe and flash a rom he wants?

And it might not work to flash a custom or stock ROM without clearing the cache/dalvik cache 1st. At least that's what happened to me. What I eventually found to work was to flash the stock recovery and boot into that (same procedure as booting into CWM). You will be able to clear cache from here and then flash stock ROM.

Hmmm... Not familiar with the Mac situation. You have a friend/place you can go to use a PC?
You will not be able to do this on a MAC. You will need a PC. ODIN does not run in MAC.
PM Me is you need help and have access to a PC. I pulled mine out of a reboot loop yesterday and it was pretty simple. You just need a quality TAR file and ODIN. Then run a reset on all.

Some more details would help me understand better. What I'd love to know is.
1. What is the current state of the phone ?
2. Is it rooted or Are you trying to root ? If so what process.
3. Are you trying to flash a rom or Recovery or what ?
4. Last but not least. What rom and version you currently have on there ?

You didn't specify how you got here .What did you try to do, that left you in this state ? Am I assuming correctly that you somehow managed to wipe system partition and have only the stock recovery ?
If the phone is in Recovery mode, Odin will not work. You will need to reboot the phone into Download mode. To do this, you pull the battery out, volume down, home, and power button at the same time until you see the Samsung logo, and then release. You will see a warning message with bright yellow triangle and will say Downloading. Once that is done, connect to the PC.
Using ODIN, first flash a custom recovery such as TWRP. If you want to go back to stock, this is the time you flash Stock rom instead of the recovery.
If you want custom rom, copy the rom zip to the External SD card and then put that in the phone and flash via Custom Recovery.

Then perhaps you should have asked on that thread for next steps. Anyway, if you are still getting the Qsub message when connecting to pc that means its not out of de-brick yet. I'd suggest following there.
Also please first put the phone in download mode and THEN connect to the PC. Tell me what happens in that case.

Perhaps not Perseus! AS stated........Its out of the brick mode and is now stuck in boot recovery mode! The method to get it into download mode is null, because it will only go into the boot recovery mode when i push those buttons to try and get it there! NOTE: its now in MSM9860 when plugged into the PC.

Please note, the button combo slightly differs for Recovery versus Download mode
Recovery Booting - Power +Home + Volume UP
Download Mode - Power +Home + Volume DOWN
Do you still have the sd setup from the debrick thread? Can you see if you can get back to download mode by booting from that again?
If so, try flashing the Stock firmware again, and if you still end up in the same spot maybe try again, but this time flash CWM or TWRP recovery from Odin, then flash a Rom from recovery.
And I can't remember right off but did you try factory resetting from recovery?

Tried that method also and no luck!
Just to clarify, the boot recovery mode you are referring to, does it have the binary/flash count, system status, etc? Basically what do you see?
It sounds in some ways you are in download mode, but recovery is a very different mode, so just to clear up any confusion.....

Hi, im new here. I here to ask. I want to root my galaxy grand duos (jellybean 4.2.2 not 4.1.2), but after i flashing CWM with odin, it doesn't work. Odin say "0 failed/1 successfully". And i saw the PASS text and my grand is rebooted successfully. After that i try to enter CWM recovery mode by pressing "Vol Up + Power button + Home". It took me to recovery mode but not CWM. It took me to Regular Android Recovery. Please help me with this. I want root my phone.
Did your device really reboot? In my case I had to take out the battery after Odin flashed cwm...
that's exactly my problem too. i can't access cwm recovery mod. it goes to stock recovery instead. i was able to access cwm recovery mod once but i didn't have superuser on my sd card. it was on my pc. so i rebooted my phone and the next time i tried to access cwm recovery mod i was unable to do so. seriously need help!!
Samsung stock flashes stock recovery on boot if a custom recovery is present... usually in cwm a notification appears when you're about to boot from cwm to ROM, asking to fix the stock recovery reflashing...

Thanks for your reply. But still not working. I tried that 5× and still not working. I cant do anything. In normal recovery, i cant install Fix-recovery.zip or anything. I cant root my phone?.
Just follow step by step
1)connect your phone in download mode to pc/lap,make sure you have installed Samsung kies properly as odin will detect the drivers
2)check if the 'ID:COM' tab in odin is turned blue
3)now if its blue everything is fine and now with your phone connected, with 'ID:COM' tab in odin turned blue, select pda in odin and select cwm zip and untick auto reboot in odin.
4)then once u have selected cwm zip in pda and unticked auto-reboot hit START in odin.
5)after it says passed just unplug you phone and enter recovery manually by pressing VOL UP+POWER+HOME,now you should have cwm recovery
6)in cwm select install zip from sd card choose zip and select fix recovery.zip
7)after cwm says installation complete now again select install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card and select update super su zip
8)FINALLY reboot system now and now you have a fully functional cwm recovery and have successfully completed rooting process:thumbup:

Like iceyhotguy suggested, follow the instructions in the link he provided. Here.
Just Sharing
Well i had a same experienced with CWM acting like that on a Galaxy Grand, so i just share what i done to fix it.
The first i got my gadget, i let it update and all, and choose to Root it using CWM method.
at first it was goin well, Then i start going deeper by deleting stuff on system that i think i dont need like KNOX and others (Im acctually a NOOB do help me with what can i safely
deleted). what happen next when i restart my Phone, all stuck on the SAMSUNG Logo. so i redo the usual Flashing of Stock ROM n Reinstall the CWM. but its not working anymore.
The CWM like just gone from the Phone. after fiddling around, i realise when flashing CWM using ODIN3 v3.07. "i cant uncheck Auto-Reboot", i dont know why i cant, it just like
that. Luckly i still got my old backup of ODIN3 v1.85, in which i redo all the flashing and i can even uncheck the Auto-Reboot thing. Oh because the auto-reboot its
tick off in ODIN3 v1.85, after flashing, unplug ur phone and while in its download mode, press the button to straight away go to the recovery, if u reboot it all the
flash will not work. And Pooof all my problem fixed.
Got my Phone system back, CWM and Root working unlike before. Hope this Help people havin a same issue. sorry if i write somethin wrong since im a NOOB.
Press Thanks if needed

Hello,
I have a galaxy tab 3.7.0 rootée.
I downloaded and I put it on the external card from my shelf a custom rom. I put my tablet in recovery mode and I made a backup but instead click backup to sdcar1 I chose sdcard0. The backup stopped giving me an error then I immediately reboot the tablet but it hangs logo. I tried turning it off but no way it restarts. I like even put the tablet into recovery mode but the download mode appeared. I flashed the tablet with an official ROM "T210XXAMKE_T210OXXAMK1_XEZ" with Odin307. the flash is done successfully and tablet restarts, update and a tablet is stuck in the logo.
I do not know what to do, help me please. Thank you for reading and responding to my S.O.S
The tablet is still on, no way to turn it off.

i would recommend flashing the official rom again through Odin but DON'T flash the update.
There must be something in these updates that's broken because i've read quite a few posts like yours.
if anything after you get your tab working again , try to stick with philz advanced recovery, and reasearch
a CUSTOM rom instead of a Samsung update.
hope this helps :good:

okay so, at this point you will need to be as specific as possible in describing the problem and providing the specific

get this http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407587567
start odin, put tab in download mode [hold home, power, volume down] when warning screen appears
press appropriate button to enter download mode, connect tab, wait for it to register in odin,
select pda button in odin and navigate to the file above which you just downloaded
be sure that repartition option is NOT CHECKED, and click start.
if odin says md5 sum is invalid when you select the file, rename/remove the .md5 extension then reselect.
hope this helps.
