Rom - Paranoid Android Q&A

Is there any rom for this kernel, tnx

What does this have to do with ParanoidAndroid?
#stayparanoid

Is there any version of paranoid for this

Looks like a device nobody supports.
#stayparanoid

I know,is there anything similar

Comatible,without major bugs

What device is it?
Basically you need to find others with your device to see what roms are available for it. A rom is not dependent on a kernel... A rom requires a kernel, but custom roms almost ALWAYS include a kernel that works with it.
You won't find much help in this Paranoid Android forum. We don't officially support anything but Nexus, oppo, and OnePlus

Ok,well tnx for help,if u see anything that can help me,pm me.Btw its Utok 400D

nexus roms question

i was looking for a new rom and i know a lot of people ask about the best rom for our nexus, but i'd like to know if there is some rom optimized just for the galaxy nexus......i mean that i know that cm and aokp are very good roms, but they are not specific for the nexus. I'd like to get a rom with all those features, but optimized for nexus hardware
optimized for galaxy nexus?
stock rom and kernel of course..
btw u post this on the wrong section..
As you post the question wrong here, you can browser here lots of roms are for Galaxy Nexus here now!!!!
Want to know the taste of these rom? Browser here, take a look of some users comments and Choose ONE to TRY!!!
Mine is Xylon! Enjoy~
Thread moved to q&a
It's not a taste matter. I would know if there is a rom tailored for Nexus

Every ROM in the Dev section is built for Nexus. WTF are you talking about?

if you are looking for a rom that is soley build for the nexus and no other devices, i guess try to find the lesser well known ones. i dunno though i never run those ones. jbsourcery, aokp, cm10, etc i BELIEVE are all built for the galaxy nexus as well as some other devices. this has nothing to with how it will run on our phones. what matters is how good the developer is, and how effective you are at flashing new roms. dont dirty flash. wipe it like you wipe your ass and returning to stock via adb between flashes or every few flashes will help keep perfomance up. flashing to stock via adb isnt like flashing another rom, it will format and repartition your device. there is a difference between formatting and erasing.
any rom you will find for our phone is optimized for this phone, it has device specific drivers included, and is tweak and optimized to the devices specs.
What do you mean by optimized for Nexus hardware? CM and AOKP ROMs for each phone uses the unique drivers and stuff of each individual phone; otherwise the ROMs wouldn't work.
Optimized for Nexus hardware is pretty much just AOSP.
ok thank you for the replies.
For whom didn't understand my question, i meant that roms like cm are builded for different devices and the devs are not concentrated just for our nexus. In fact less known roms got more optimizations for our hardware. Maybe i'm wrong....this is the reason i asked here

perhaps you need to do a little more reading as to what a nexus device actually is....
if you see a rom in our dev section, it was built for our phone...its that simple. The best optimizations will come from the kernel of your choice, not the rom.

I am fairly new at rooting, flashing etc. This is the first time I've heard it's a good idea to flash back to stock every once in awhile. When you say flash back to stock, should a person be unrooting and locking the bootlader as well? Or just flash the stock rom and carry one?

Regarding custom rooms like CM, paranoid android, Omni rom, etc

it's a very know fact that maximum of the devices from Indian brands never have access to these well known rooms while they have good specifications. Why is it so?
yes Roms from other devices are ported to the Indian brand mobiles but it doesn't match my expectations.
If these senior respected developers can somehow show some love to Indian brand mobiles, it would be great.
It's my personal thinking. Yours can differ.

see..
what i have understood is.. basically custom roms are developed for whom, whose official roms are pathetic and have loads of bloatwares.
indian brands do not take load to customize the rom and barely put few bloatwares resulting low cost mobile fones.
these are stock androids are i feel are very stable wrt performance. :good:
we only have option to play with launchers :fingers-crossed:

Yes I agree. It also provide performance improvement options. Optimization on various things and near possibility to do any things. Problem is we need some sources based on CM or PA to start with MTK devices. Hopes one day will have it. Then we will start it.

Mtk devices are in market from so long and still nothing happened.... Still waiting..
The main problem!
CM, Paranoid, AOKP, AOSP are some great ROM's indeed! However, I believe Mediatek does not release it's kernel source, in other words, It's kernels are 'Closed Source'. Cyanogenmod requires a custom kernel to be built and compiled, for that, complete kernel source is needed. A few leaked sources for MT6589 made first CM possible. Until MTK changes it's mind, its very much impossible to see all those quality ROM's for our handsets. I also think that there is a petition on change.org, requesting Mediatek to make everything open source. You can sign it, I have signed it as well.

Can you give me the link to that petition as I am unable to find it?

If that's true, then it's a great news...

[Q] Is it a good idea to use an abandoned ROM?

I've been looking for a custom rom to use on my Galaxy Ace 2 I8160.
I see many of them are discontinued or abandoned.
Is it still a good idea to choose one of these or should I use one that is still supported?
I might switch rom again at a later time but normally I'm going to stick with the one I'm going to choose for a while.
I didn't research every option in the same detail. Maybe there are up to date versions available.
These are the ones I was considering:
Resurrection Remix (I see there are 2 versions. Maclaw version is still supported? )
Vanir
OmniRom
Paranoid Android (This one doesn't seem to be officially discontinued)
and some other I forgot about...
I could go for CyanogenMod but I'd like something different. Already have CM on my SE Xperia Ray.
Also as list for available roms I found these:
romlister (is this a trusted site?)
this thread
If you have any suggestions or any tips, they are always welcome!:good:
Thanks!
Actually it's all up to you. I don't see any bad reasons to use an abandoned ROM if it is already quite stable. And if you could live with having just the old features (no updates, of course), then go for it.
Some things to consider though:
- Older ROM might have newly found bug that aren't patch, thus might be less secure or more buggy
- older ROM might not have the latest feature, so if you need latest features, it might not have it
- what's more important, since it's abandoned you can't expect support from the original makers.
That being said, again, if you could live with those, nothing is keeping you from using an abandoned ROM

Custom ROMs?

What would it take to get this baby some ROMs? I've had success porting ROMs in the past, and I've noticed that there is a few custom ROMs for smartwatches. I just have no idea where we would start. Anybody got any feedback?
I would also like to know but I guess you can make a stock based rom there is a perfect flashable back up here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sma...rom-repacked-stock-rom-swr50-version-t2988087
I mean I don't know anything about roms but couldn't you just unzip this rom above add some custom apps/bootanimations ect... then rezip it?
I mean, you probably could. I'm looking to make something from source I guess. I'll have to poke around later to try and find the lollipop sources for it.

There is no source for Android Wear (with the exception of the stuff they have to release because of GPL)
Then it have to be stocked based

Any custom ROM development other than CM/Lineage?

Just curious if there is any custom ROM development for AOSP, Slim, Omnirom going on? Would be good to have other base's set up for our device and being maintained as it would give more options.
AFAIK no. Even if there were its 99% chance that it is based on CM/Lineage and has changes that just add some stuff but dont go really far from them.
The ideal scenario would be to have an pure AOSP ROM so that anyone can have a clean and easy start to build upon.
So far I think ParanoidAndroid is the only ROM that is also based on AOSP and goes side-to-side with CM/Lineage but currently they don't officially support HTC 10.
Although, I think I saw a branch for pme on their Github so you never know...
There's slim,aokp,and acip N here. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=Pme&type=files
Just search 'pme'
But I believe they are CM based . I am too waiting for pure AOSP .
