I'm installing this as a last resort before sending my phone back. After hard reset and everything, battery is still a major drain.
For those that are using it, how well does it work? Which settings are you using?
I've only the free version for now but would consider upgrading if it does help?
Also, how do you prevent meebo from disconnecting when the screen turns off? Is that an option on the free version?

About Juice Defender, for me it worked with ~1.6x batterylife.
About Meebo: get Trillian, they made it for free this week. You stay connected even if your phone is off(for max of 1 day, changeable in settings) and you'll receive al the messages which came while your online the enxt time you login again. You can manage all your accounts on the PC with the regular Trillian program and then login on your phone with your Trillian account and all the accounts will be there. It is a real nice app with very low battery consumption.
The free version is very limited. I use the ultimate version and I'm rather happy with it. I don't want to schedule traffic when my phone is idle, but that would be a massive battery saver.
Yes, you can set different settings for each app in the paid versions. You can set a trigger that makes sure your internet is always on when meego is running, even when your screen is off.
But overall, I have no problem to use my phone for more than 12 hours on battery with moderate usage. Maybe you should send your device back anyway.
I had terrible battery drain as well but ive managed to resolve this. have you tried:
1. Deleting all social hub accounts?
2. Deleting your mail account if you use the stock mail app?
3. Updated to latest official firmware?
I was experiencing 10% idle drain per hour. Now i'm at 1-2%. Battery life is a huge improvement compared to my old desire. Dont guve up on this phone.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
In my experience standard battery drain per hour should be
1~2% screen off / data off
3~5% screen off / data on
12~15% screen on / data off
18~20% screen on / data on
WiFi uses less battery than 3g but as you can see display is main problem...

Sounds like you need to clear your battery history, leave it over night, then check what's been using it overnight to me.
I have 5-10% drop at most overnight (7 hours or so).

Also try clearing data on the software update app. That appeared to work for some people. U definitely have a rogue app eating your battery... Can you give us a list of your running processes immediately after you restart?

So after using Juice defender ultimate for a couple weeks now, with the customizable apps configuration, I see no improvement in battery life.
I lost 50% charge overnight with just push email on (stock gmail app), only synching email and contacts.
For those with this app, what configurations are you using to improve the battery?

I have it setup to turn the data, and wifi off while the screen is off.
Night mode is enabled, from 11:30, to 7:00am
I also have it only allow wifi via location, work or home.
It eats 1-2% while in standby per hour.
and about 3-4% overnight.
i tried juice defender ultimate and it made no difference. I deleted it just because its another app working in the background...
I found it to be very effective when set up correctly. Lose less than 1% an hour at idle.

Mine does that (1-2% per hour at idle) without Juicedefender and push email/facebook active. The problem with JD is also that when set to switch off Wifi and data in the background when the phone is idle, it doesn't always switch them back on after the phone awakens, resulting in many pain in the ass moments.
I bought it 6 months ago and never use it any more.

Over night 1-2% /6H
Standby 1-3% /Hour

from 78% drop to 10% and from 10% to 5% in 5Hours again.

Pretty standard really wifi and mobile data enabled (ultimate version), autosync on ping, 15 minute scheduled check for 30s. I don't have it turn off data at night because the phone is usually plugged in and have data enabled when the screen is on. It also manages the wifi locations so usually it only connects to wifi.

Hmm I'd never heard of that app, but did a bit of research and it looks like it really does wake the connections well with the latest release... will give it a try!
I lost 4%/idle for 12 hours.
Sorry if this is the wrong section, but it seems like the only section specific to the Captivate Glide.
My wife's Glide is stock, very few widgets (google voice, battery, stock clock) and Android OS shows up at 40% when the phone is idle overnight and during the day during use. She has fb set up on socialhub with only contacts synced, 2 gmail accounts, and Touch(used to be pingchat). wifi is enabled and connected for most of the day. bluetooth is on too, but only connected when in the car.
I don't think it's Touch since I have it on my Atrix and Android OS is at 2-3% for me.
Any ideas?

She might have some app that is are using way too much cpu, try doing a factory reset and check the usage, mine is currently %17.
Also the facebook app is a notorious battery thief. Battery usage percentage isn't standard for different people, if she's not using much features, the majority of her battery will be used by the OS since there is nothing else to use it.

Wouldn't phone idle be the max usage? For my Atrix phone idle is at 70% or so when I barely use the phone and Android OS is 3%. I can try disabling facebook overnight to see if the Android OS usage goes down.
The battery life for this phone is ok. It hits ~30% or so in the early evening, meaning we need to charge the phone if she goes out that evening. For my Atrix the battery doesn't hit 30% until midnight under light usage conditions (no games).
Is there an app or logcat keyword to filter to break down exactly which thread/process is using up the CPU?
edit: nm, going to read through this first
From looking at the wakelocks with BetterBatteryStats the likely culprit for the battery usage is the facebook chat portion of the fb app. The wife has many contacts in the chat, so it's probably polling quite a bit. For me the wakelock count for fb chat is fairly low. fb chat is a must for the wife so I can't disable it.
Also in the process screen I see several kworkers with high usage...not sure exactly what's causing that.
so for whatever reason the battery drain is now more acceptable even though the Android OS usage is still at ~50%. Could be the fb update, but the good battery performance occurred before the fb update.

From the betterbatterystats output, I'm pretty sure the high Android OS usage is software related and specific to the stock ROM. The radio and wifi battery usage are normal.
I have no clue what the kworker processes are doing when the phone is supposed to be idle. Overnight my Atrix is 68% idle, 12% cell standby...android OS is 2%.
Idk you could try when putting it idle turn of Bluetooth and wifi and the data network this could help see

BT is already off. I could turn off both wifi and data network and if it turns out that is what is causing the battery drain (does not seem like it)...then what? Don't use wifi and the data network? It seems like there's little we can do as an average user to fix the high Android OS usage when idle. It does not seem like high kworker process usage can be fixed by TiBu or other simple fixes from a user.
Another update from Samsung, custom ROMs, and other dev fixes on xda seem to be the only options.
You need to find the source to find a rom that will repair this sometimes an launcher can make your battery die faster I know that Facebook and the browser use a ton of ram I have a stock app on my phone called application manager and I can stop apps that are using my ram

I'v been using it for about a week. Continuously waking up the phone for sensing and checking apps and options was draining more battery than actual saving it. I wouldn't reccommend it at all.
Classic solutions like Greenify + Wakelock Detector work way better IMO.
I am yet unsure to how much does this improve the battery life, I've been using it for a month and giving it time to check. Although my device doesn't come out of deep sleep with it running, I kinda feel the battery drains a bit faster. Can't say that for sure but thats what I am feeling.
I will keep it up-to-date with you. Just did a full charge on airplane mode and I will be monitoring everything.

Even I got massive battery drain. I wasn't using my phone at all. And in half an hour it reduced from 91-86 percent. Data/Wifi/Sync and everything off. Wake lock detector shows Battery guru woke the CPU most number of times.
I've tried this earlier and uninstalled it. I'm giving it another try. Its in learning process now. Let me see how it goes after two days.
So when you change your habits it will drain battery again; why bother?

It's a known issue, I'm actually in a pilot group with a product manager and developer using a new firmware based on 1.2 that seems to help.
In the meantime, change the lockscreen from Colorlock as that has been known to hold a wakelock and disable Google's location services.
After I did that on 1.2 or 2.0 beta my drain shot down to .5%/hr.
I too am part of said pilot group that Sean mentioned and can confirm that a more battery saving firmware is in the works.
Give oppo some time to work the issue out, it's starting to look better.

Freezing applications/disabling them is basically the same as removing them, except that they still take up space on the system. You can freeze applications using Titanium Backup as you said and if you have root of course. If you want to completely remove the applications you should get a file explorer that can request root permissions, then look for the applications you want to remove, these can usually be found in "/system/app/" or "/system/priv-app/". You can also remove them using adb, this is a little more complicated though, if you want to do it this way I'd recommend you to Google it. Be careful when removing files from the system though, as you may run into some weird situations, you can always make a backup of course. (when restoring back-upped files, remember to set the correct permissions)
enabling google location services do not have impact on standby battery drain, seems changing the lock screen and freezing default launcher (I use Nova) helped

I'm on 2.0 beta, changing that to Revolving lock and disabling Google's location services (gimps the phone a bit sure but easy to enable and gps is still fine) and my drain is down to .6%/hr. Not too shabby, and will be testing tonight with location back on.
have been using the find 7a for nearly a week now. all i can say is...be patient, people! the first 2 days i had it, the battery drain is unbearable(8~12hr use and it's gone), but after 3~4 full cycle charged (start charging when below 10% then fully charged using 'battery doctor'), from the 4th day, the battery is amazing, easily get past 24 hours of use with data and wifi always on, screen on time 3 hours+ no problem. my current used time: 34 hr 26 m, with screen on 2 hr 7m, battery still 33%. Google location service is on all the time, Google now is off all the time. GPS off most of the time. running color OS 2.0 beta.
so be patient and charge your battery for few full cycles.
i hope this may help you guys.
Even Oppo has publicly stated the massive battery drain is a known issue affecting all Find 7a phones sold to date so I'm thinking denying there is an issue is a bit silly at this point. Also 2 hours screen time with 33% remaining is a terrible performance that sits at approximately half of what this phones current competition is offering.
Having has this from day one I would also point out that one of the problems associated with this is the inconsistency. I normally will see around 15 percent drain overnight but occasionally its as little as 5 or as high as 70. The problematic part comes in when you figure I've spent most nights testing some new scheme to see if I've made any improvements to the standy life.
Nor do I think its a good idea to accept excuses. On my N5 I never turned anything off, bluetooth, wifi, google now, location, etc. All on all the time and never had a problem getting 4 hours of screen time and never used more than 5% over night. That would of course make it nothing special since I haven't owned a phone since back somewhere around the sgs2 that couldn't do the same thing and there have been lots of phones between here and there. You shouldn't have to turn the phones features off to get the phone to work, being forced to means you are getting a sub industry standard experience. Calling it anything else is a lie.
Just a general question, i have no problem with my devices battery life during useage, but whats annoying me is how much battery life i'm losing when the device is "asleep"!
i can lose between 10 and 25% battery when the device is asleep overnight, or while i'm at work.
this isnt a one off, it seems to happen most of the time, so i'm having to charge it every couple of days, rather then once or twice a week.
is this a general problem, or do i need to do a reset.
thanks
There are many apps found out there (some need root) that can track down what's eating the battery and or preventing device sleep. Google Search app is probably one of the culprits. I disabled it long ago.
If you're not rooted, try to disable some "bloatware" apps in your device settings > applications. .... If your rooted, freeze apps from self-starting using greenify app or remove with Titanium backup app. Just backup them first
I could go on and on, but at least some pointers where to start. Good luck
Have your wifi sleep when not in use. You may have some apps hijacking your bandwidth. You should only lose a few percent overnight...
