Hi. I don't have the Note 4. Not sure if I ever will, but one thing that would entice me to give it a shot would be if Samsung finally fixed their stock music player to display artists that start with "The" to stop appearing in the "T's". For example, The Beatles should appear in the "B's" not the "T's".
As a music enthusiast, this has always driven me wild.
Has this been fixed by chance?
Yes, any artist who's name begins with "The" will be located under "T". I opened Samsung's music app for the first time just to check this for you. I haven't used it in 3 years on the Note 2, Note 3, or Note 4. Play Music is the only music player I use, and it doesn't do that. You should check out Play Music if you haven't already. It's MUCH better than every music player by any Android manufacturer. I didn't realize anyone actually used OEM music players still, lol

Quick question about Google Play Music. If I have music downloaded on an external sd card, will it read that as well? Or is it just all cloud.

It will read music on your SD card as well as cloud.

So there are several different music streaming services out there, who in essence have the same music and pricing structure.
What I am asking is which has the best performing app (not service) on Android 4?
My vote is Deezer as I use it daily on my Desire and it is quite good but not perfect.
Rdio looks like a very well developed app, whereas Spotify has several negative reviews.
Opinions?
I love turntable.fm when it works lol.
And I like soundcloud as well.
Normally I use Sony music Unlimited because of the sheer number of albums available unfortunately it isn't available officially for the nexus and the side load crashes.
I've fallen back to Pandora, tune in and rdio

Most of the time I use Google Play Music since I've got over 1k songs already up, and they let you have a max of 20k songs. I can't imagine being able to find 20k songs that I actually like. No syncing across my computer/phone/tablet, just upload the files once into Google Play Music and then stream it anywhere.
The rest of the time I use Pandora.
So is Google Play Music the online store to rival iTunes that is only available in the US? Or is it the Android "Music" app to play local MP3s?
Pandora is interesting but also only in the US...!

Agreed. Our N7 is our first tablet, and first Android device and I immediately liked the 20,000 song storage ability.
Love xda, getting some great ideas from just browsing around here. :good:

Google Play Music lets you store songs you own, in the "Google Cloud", allowing you to play your songs from your phone/tablet/pc. You literally can upload all your mp3s into it - no questions asked.
You can also play music locally with it. And then the Google Play store also has music you can purchase which is added to your collection.

I know Deezer lets you do the same as Play Music. You can upload to the "My MP3s" section of your Deezer account and stream them through the app.
It works quite well, but in Offline Mode obviously only the albums you download are available not any of the My MP3s tracks.
Also one flaw of Deezer is you cannot sync a single track for Offline playback, only full Albums.
My favorites in favorite order:
N7
Google Music
Cubed
Jango
I do own Poweramp, but like N7 better. I find Jango much nicer than Pandora. Cubed is just visually cool. I use Google Music on my PC at work 90% of the day.
edit:: sorry, I missed the "streaming" comment. Therefore GM and Jango only.
For playing music, the answer is simple - Neutron. It is amazing. What's even better is that you can get a special version for Tegra devices. Here's a link:
http://neutronmp.com/downloads.html
You want the NeutronMP_64.apk. If you are an audiophile like me, then you will be in heaven. Grab a good pair of headphones (NuForce is an amazing brand that not many people know about) and enjoy!!

i think the only way to upload is to install the music manager on your pc. you'll then select the folders you want it to upload.
NeutonMP is awesome for its sound quality , but I hate its interface. I love n7 player interface but their sound quality isnt as awesome as neutonMP.
I'd bought both Poweramp and N7 and switch between them. Using Poweramp more and more. Like the album art display much better, more sound adjustments (not that it matters much on a Nexus 7). N7 starting losing album art (or not finding it), so it's not getting used much.
download utorrent

Hi guys,
First time poster here. Great place to share the love of this fabulous phone.
I need some suggestions on a music player. I was using Winamp Pro on my GN as i also use this app as my music player on my laptop.
I need a music app to tied me over until Winamp is patched for JB
Any ideas?
Stock GN with 4.1.1
Thanks guys.
There are tons of threads about this if you do a search.
I use Google Music. It gives me access to all of my music on my laptop, GNex, and, starting in two days, my Nexus 7. This is great because only about 40% of my music is stored on this laptop, and the other 60% was lost when I reformatted the hard drive on my last laptop and moved to a phone without an SD slot. The Google Music app works great, and even though the widget is kind of crappy, I've found that all music players have crappy widgets.
try Cloud Skipper its a great alternative. Completely free, includes a built-in equalizer, and has a nice and simple widget
Hello!
Though I have HTC phones for 2 years, I never used them for music play.
I bought the Stereoclip yeaterday and I am ''obliged'' to use the HOX to stream music as my cowon J3 BT volume is too low and crappy.
Now to focus on the question here, is there any way to play songs per folder?
I always divide my songs by genre in folders like ''Trance'' ''Rock'' ''80s''...
Ok the HTC music player can play by genre but unfortunetly my mp3s are nothing but well ID3taged + I don't want to put 500 songs in a genre.
So please how can I play by folder?
Any modified htc music app for that purpose?

I would create your own playlists with the Names of the genres you are using.
You can also add sources from DropBox etc this could be a good idea if you want to keep the space on your device free for apps etc.
To do this, goto your music play, click the "Settings" top right corner and click "Add Music source"
Hope this helps my friend.

Forget the dropbox thingy with our very limited 3G network in Lebanon (20 to 100mb per month), or else I would have used Tuneinradio in my car all the time
I think I will install a 3rd party app though I would have preffered to do it with the HTC music app

Okay, heres three options and I can't think of any other way for you to do it, I hope this is helpful.
1 - Obviously you could use another music player, such as WinAmp.
2 - Sort your music into the folders you want, get a file explorer (I Use ESFileExplorer) go on that, navigate to the folder, long press and then click "Music" that folder will then be loaded by itself into the music, Long winded I know but you can still use the stock app.
3 - Create playlists and just name the playlists by the folder.
2 is probably your best bet !
Thanks dude!
I will try playlist to begin with, if it's a pain in the as* I will install a good 3rd party app.
Btw which one is the best (music quality) and has lockscreen controls?

No worries mate
Tbh never used a third party music player, as in my opinion they are never as loud or clear as the stock. Perhaps that could be sorted if you know what to do with an equaliser, but I don't haha.
Couple of Suggestions that I know are good music players:
DoubleTwist - GirlFriend uses this, its free, very smart and sleek looking, and has many functions. Including the lock screen control you asked for. I'd take a look at this.
Player Pro - Looks very capable but never had an experience with it.
Also
WinAmp - Has been around for long time, before android even existed as it was a PC music player, hense the "Win" for "Windows"
I had a good look at PlayerPro, this could be a brilliant option for you, its got everything you've previously mentioned, playing by folder, lock screen controls. etc etc
Hi mate,
here's what I did on my HTC Desire X. You create a folder with a specific name where you put all your music and then in the Music app on HTC Android, you Search for that folder. It then shows up under Albums and you are able to play only the tracks contained in that Album/folder. For the folder names, they have to be somewhat unique, if you have a lot of music on your phone because otherwise it's gonna getm mixed up.
Hope it helps!
Since Sense 4+ we can use folders play in the HTC Music app
I just found an easy solution to the problem.
1. Organize all your songs on your phone under folders as you like
2. Connect your phone to a PC
3. Open Windows Media Player
4. Select all songs from one folder (on the phone) and add to Windows Media Player Playlist
5. Rename Playlist according to your preference
6. Save the playlist
7. Copy the playlist from your music folder on your PC and paste it on your phone in the Music folder
8. The playlist will now be available on your stock music player
Hello everyone!
I once was an iPhone 5S user before transferring over to the Note 4, so I have a load of music in my iTunes library. I just want to know from you guys what is the fastest way to transfer my music from iTunes to my Note 4. Every time I drag and drop my music to the Note 4, it appears to not work on my device and says, "This player does not support this type of file". Can you please provide what steps you use in order to transfer your music? And also, I'm a music fanatic, so I like to see the correct album artwork, artist, song title, etc. Thank you for all of your answers!
I am probably wrong but isn't music on an iPhone some proprietary suffix and not mp3

I use the "iSyncr: iTunes to Android" app from the play store. It's free for first 100 songs and one playlist. It costs $4.99 (I think) for unlimited songs and playlists. It works great and is well worth the expense.

About 10 years ago, Samsung presented Touchwiz which had an awsome Music Player with many features.
One of the features that I liked most was the "Music Square".
Music square was a part of the music player that came with Touchwiz.
It shows 4 sides: Joyfull, Exciting, Passionate and Calm
And It was able to recognise rhythm of the song and put it on the right place among sides, beside, it would allow you to listen to the song that have a same rhythm.
For those who can't remeber, this video shows you the user interface of the music player.
(2:42)
So, here in the 2022, I really need a music player that could do the same thing for me.
I don't even know what to search!
Anyone has an idea or know any app that contains such music square thing?
