Missing Setting that t-mobile note 4 has - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

I was playing with my father's note 4 and noticed under settings-Lock screen there is an option to change how soon after the phones display goes off the phone will lock. This is different than the normal lock time out setting. Is this a difference in our builds? How many other differences are there between devices?

My att note 4 shows "secured lock screen" setting but not the "unlock effect"? What software version # are you on?

I'm on 4.4.4

It depends on what screen lock ur running.

It only shows up if you have a secured lock screen, which you don't have turned on since you are using swipe.

I think I figured out how to solve this issue if you don't want to use any kind of security to unlock your lock screen just swipe.
The problem is in the default setting it takes 10 minutes of inactivity before the lockscreen is brought up again after hitting the power button or home button when the phone in the the screen off state. If you are like me and like the screen to never time out on its own; that is always turn the screen off using the power button, this can be quite the problem. The amount of accidental screen on times in pocket have been much greater with the Note 4 compared to the Note 2. Bypassing the lockscreen and going straight to the home screen/active app means it will take 10 minutes for your screen to time out. This is not so on the Note 2 where the phone would always go to the lockscreen when any button is pressed, and the lockscreen goes dark after a few seconds of on time. This way a message or an accidental press will not cost you 10 minutes of screen time in your pocket.
Now that I have fully described the problem, let me tell you the solution. It's quite simple really:
The following may work with other unlock method, but I only tested using fingerprints
1. Register fingerprints and set finger print lock.
2. Click on fingerprint lock is the lockscreen settings and then you will be to change Secured Lock Time like images in this thread show.
3. After you changed the Secured Lock Time lock time to instantly for fingerprints, revert back to using swipe.
4. Done. Now your phone will always go to lockscreen when the screen goes dark, either through time out or by using the power button.
Remarkably, this worked for me. I thought I was so screwed when I saw this thread and saw there was no Secured Lock Time for swipe. Meaning I would have to use fingerprints or let the screen time out after 10 seconds like any normal person does .

That's cause you have swipe on lockscreen if you set a lock like fingerprint then you will see it!

What happens when you slide out your keyboard? It should unlock the phone.
I have a password, sliding out the keyboard only rotates that screen to horizontal, I still have to slide it. I lost my stylus a long time ago, is there any way to trick the sensor?

I don't use a password on mine; sliding out the keyboard brings it out of lock.
Try putting in the password via the keyboard after you slide it open.
BTW replacement stylus are really cheap on ebay or amazon.
Try using MyMobiler - you can then connect to your PC and operate your mob from a PC window.
just throwing this out there
I just had this happen to one of the phones at my office. I could not get past this lock screen (btw this phone is crap). Unfortunately for me and the guy we had to completely wipe the phone to make it work.
Remove the battery hold down the "send" and the "end" buttons and when you are sure that they are sufficiently held down press and hold the power button and get ready with the volume up button just in case the phone decides it doesn't want you to reset it (I did this about 8 times before I could get it to wipe). Once this is done go through the initial setup and enjoydelay banging your head against the desk for a few weeks.
The only downside to this is that everything is gone, the upside . . . you can now use your phone.
that's all I got
Oh yea put the battery back in after you remove it otherwise no dice.
there is also a really good desktop program called mDesktop that interfaces beautifully with the phone and lets you see and interact with the screen using your mouse.. It is also a very lightweight program only exe, no install necessary.

Unlock method like on iOS

On my iPhone I had a password set but would only be asked for it if the phone was locked for over an hour. What I want is to be able to use the slide to unlock if the phone was locked for less than an hour and a pin or pattern when it's been more than an hour. Is this possible? I know I can set it to ask me for pattern, pin etc and the max time could be 30mins which is also fine but then the screen wouldn't be locked and I might press things by mistake. This just doesn't make sense to me.
I've flashed the Gummy ROM and they just came out with a new feature where you can have the standard swipe lock screen (with multiple apps on it) appear before the pin lock/pattern lock screen.
The problem is that both lock screens will appear or neither lock screen will appear when applicable. For example, if you have a long sleep before lock period of time set, neither lock screen may appear when you turn the screen on. Or if you turn off the screen manually, then both lock screens will appear. In other words, I don't see a way to separate the two screens from each other and give them each different time out periods.
I suspect that there is nothing in the android system that would allow this to happen automatically, but perhaps something could be worked out with a custom timer. Perhaps you can speak to the developers over at Gummy and see if they have any suggestions or if they are planning a similar thing in a future release.

Probably could use the app Tasker if you are rooted. Would require a lot of setting up though.

Verizon G4 Bugs & Glitches

Hey guys, I've had my phone for a day or so now and just wanted to list some bugs I've found and see if anyone else has experienced them.
When hanging up a phone call my wallpaper is the application settings screen of a random app (reboot fixes)
Sometimes the screen randomly turns itself on
Sometimes after leaving an email (Touchdown Exchange mail) when I press back I am brought to the application settings screen of a random app
When I get a notification and attempt to open it on the lockscreen the lockscreen becomes a rectangle about 3/4 the size of the screen which is empty and I need to swipe within that to open the app that the notification came from
I will add more as I come across them but just wondering if anyone else has experienced those same bugs/glitches. Thanks!
Not a bug but I cant seem to hide folders in my gallery
Verizon g4 here, i have none of those problems except the last one i thought that was normal my g3 did that as well

I guess that's not a bug then per se but it is ugly none the less.
I am having issues with my wifi. It will show connected, but will not connect to internet. If I turn off/on wifi, it will work again. I have tried on a airport extreme and anetgear extender. Same issue on both.
My screen is randomly turning itself on and off very quickly sometimes.
Number three is normal, it's the same on g3. Lg changed it from stick Android where a simple double tap would open the notification. However . If you excited the notifications first, then tapping it goes straight to the app, without swiping.
Hey Verizon people, are you all seeing - when using a lock screen setup (not just swipe) like knock code or pin or pattern - the ugly Emergency Call button?

I'm guessing it's a Verizon thing... I have that on my KitKat Droid Razr M.
I have Verizon and have the Emergency Call on mine as well.
This is going to sound weird but I hope someone can help. Only on my phone and only on WiFi i cant use Amazon. It shows no connection in the app and only lets me go to the sign on screen in the browser. Every other site is functional.

Intelligent unlock with 3rd party launcher or app

In the stock roms, the only way to lock the screen is with the power button. What I want to achieve is to lock screen screen like maybe double tap home button to sleep.
There are 3rd party launcher or app that could do this, however intelligent unlock is disabled and must use pin/pattern ect. There used to be a way to bypass device admin/security policy or something.
But anyway, how can I do this while using the stock roms? This is something the power of root can solve right?
EDIT: it's okay guys, found out RiCE roms allows this bypass somehow and it's close to stock, so gonna use this rom for now. I use 3rd party screen off app and set as assistance app, therefore hold home buttom for lock, kinda buggy but works I guess.
Nova Launcher can lock the screen with a double tap or whatever you choose
No way to bypass lock screen security that I know of (security risk) but you could just turn it off, it's about as safe lol

Question Dim lock screen notifications

After latest update the lock screen notifications are so dim that they cannot be read ,I am using dark mode. Also is there anyway to lengthen the time they are on screen because they are to fast. Regards
Can you give us a screenshot? I haven't noticed any problem. Thanks.
Thanks. How can I get a screen shot of the lock screen. Regards
Definitely noticed this after side loading the December update.

Volume Down button + Power button. Just make sure and Magick Erase any personal information before sharing.
That's the universal (at least on Android) method to take screenshots most anywhere.

No I'm taking about the notification pill that comes on the lock screen for about 2 seconds. You cannot take a screen shot because it will wake up phone with the power button
Are you talking about the AOD? Mine is dim too since the December update.

I guess I don't know what you're referring to, but I wish I did. How about a photo of it using an old phone if you have one available? Do you use the fingerprint reader? If you don't, I'm not going to disable mine to try to reproduce the same issue, but anything I do that shows me the lock screen (tapping on the screen, pressing the power button), doesn't show anything dim for me for two seconds.

Ah! I see. I have AOD on but I'm using AODNotify's optional feature where I have it set not to show AOD except when I have a notification, and even then to minimize what to show.
Oh well.
