Hey guys -
Are you guys able to go into your settings and disable the volume and brightness sliders in the notification shade? I can't on my Sprint Note 4, but it's also the first Samsung device I've ever bought from Sprint. I could do it on the umpteen other Samsung devices I've owned but they were all AT&T variants.
So basically I'm wondering if this is something Samsung took out of the Note 4 in general or if this is unique to the Sprint model. Figured the best bet would be to ask people on other carriers.

well I can tell you mine doesn't have a volume slider, only a brightness.

I don't know of any built in settings to remove these, but with xposed you can surely do it.
fortunately you can do such things as spring allows rooting. im not sure what xposed modules exist for the note 4, so id try wanam in the play store, or look though the built in market in the xposed app itself. if you don't know about xposed, or can't find it on your own, reply back to this thread and I'll see what I can do to help.

You're right about the volume slider. My Tab S 8.4 and Note Pro 12.2 have brightness and volume. I got my devices mixed up.
Regardless, it appears that the removal of that setting might be a Note 4 thing rather than something mandated by a particular carrier.
Luckily, y'all on AT&T don't have the S Finder and Quick Connect buttons either. Those are on the T-Mobile, Sprint, and international variants, and aren't removable.

my experience with google devices was very pleasant, since they all have no bloatware on them like touchwiz. if you're going to use a custom rom than it doesnt matter on the software side, the hardware i. e. camera of the galaxy note is better from my experience and the bigger screen is a +. the touchpen is also cool for draw something if your going to play that the galaxy nexus has also a big screen but the big bottom nav bar with the buttons removes a lot of space and there are very few apps that go fullscreen from my experience. the home button on the galaxy note is for me a little outdated since on screen buttons should be the way to go in the future, i saw many phones with hardware key problems after 2 years i. e. iPhone 3G/3GS Volume and Home Buttons, with on-screen buttons like on the galaxy nexus these defects can not happen.

This may be a stupid question - I am new to the Note world.
Will the Note 8.0 be receiving the stock software updates that have been shown for the Note 3? I see a lot of cool s-pen functions and advanced pen integration that I would like to have.
I am not sure of Samsungs track record with rolling back new software to "older" devices.

Most likely when we get the 4.3 update. Although there is a small chance that the apk will work on our device once the Note 3 is released.
we hope so
Definitely hoping so as well. I have the Note 2 and the Note 8.0 right now, and I love the interoperability. I am hoping they bring the 8.0 along with the Note 3's new S-Note and S-Pen functions. They are awesome upgrades in software and usability that will make a big difference for me, especially the deep integration with Evernote (finally!).
I believe we will see all this stuff in one of custom roms.
btw. what exactly new brings n3?
(this scould be our wissh list for devs)

I think it will update on Note 8. But when?
Yesteday, thanks a Arsaw, I get to port SNote3 to Note8 with stock 4.2.2 but the size of screen does not adjust. Not work fine.

Still waiting Samsung.
I just recently bought the d2att, and my biggest issue coming from the international s3 has been the lack of support for all mDNIE features on AOSP roms (e.g. sharpness, mode). Is this kernel or rom related? And if so, short of porting the features from an i9300 kernel/rom, is there anything I can do about this?

I feel like Quantum Rom has mDNIE. I just got rid of my AT&T S3 so I can't check. Quantum is based on SlimKat and PwnCakes193 is a beast at making ROMs. He recently switched to SlimKat and it runs great and has so many more options than CM, which is why I feel like I noticed those options. Give it a try and let me know.

Thanks, but the problem is that even when you use an app (like the one in Quantum) all of the features of mDNIE aren't there. Unless the d2att doesn't have some of those settings?

This is the mDNIE settings tab on an i9300, the mode setting in particular seems to be missing from the d2att.

Did some more research, the US variants just don't have that.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Strange, I would have thought that that was a ROM thing not a phone or US variant thing.
Apparently so, gotta love Samsung's hardware/software discrepancies. If I was a dev I might've looked into porting the features from the Intl S3 or an earlier ROM, but alas I am not. Back to the i9300 until my Nexus 5 comes in.

I just got my new Verizon Note 4 today (coming from a Note 2) and love it! I wish I could root it but I am sure it will come soon. One minor thing I maybe missing though...I used to be able to go to settings and in the settings menu (3 dots) I could change it to Tab View. However when I click the 3 dots I only see Edit Quick Settings and Help...did they remove the tab view from the Settings app or did they just move it?
Thanks!!!
No tab view on Verizon variant of the Note 4.

It's been driving me crazy. I've been wondering the same thing. Just like the infanite scrolling, on the home screen. Can't figure out where it is, but my friend has it on his Note 4.
I have been reading all the Note 7 reviews, and now have come to the conclusion that the display on the Note 7 is worse than of the Note 5, Note 4 and S7 phones, in terms of colour accuracy I mean! I mean why the heck Samsung had to do that? Or I am the only one missing something here? The temp is over 7000K, DeltaE Avg. is now more than twice than of the Note 5, and three times than on the S7 ! One of the main reasons I (and many others I am sure) use a Samsung is because of the colour accurate display! Now if they take that, and it seems like deliberately then what's the freaking point? I was thinking about getting the phone, now I am torn! I still don't get it though!

You didn't copy the full link, thus it is broken. Here's the link:

I have always used galaxy devices on Cinema mode, I am now on Adaptive mode.
The sole point of this topic was about colour accuracy! Those who use Adaptive mode and stuffs use the most saturated settings anyway, you should only care if you use the Basic mode! Of course its the best display, that is all things considered, lower power draw, maximum and minimum brightness level etc., but look the colour accuracy part, even on the DisplayMate review it has gone to Very Good from Note 5's Excellent!
