Anyone know how to tie an app to XBMC home screen? - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a preloaded FTV so I dont know anything about how these are setup. I tired to search but I cannot find anything as Im sure Im using the wrong wording. Anyway, there is an Internet option on the XBMC home screen that was tied to FF browser. I wanted to change which app that button launches. How can I do that? I have the app already side loaded... Thanks!

I need to find out here the app is so I can assign the ' Default select action '

Depends on the skin, you can customise some skins and change the buttons around. It's under appearance and then skin settings, depends on the skin how it is implemented though.

What skin are you using? What do you want to add to the home screen menu?

ITs Aeon Nox. I did find where the options are to change button name, what shortcut to apply to it etc. Im going to assume that I need to use the Custom option and type in the location of it on the storage where its located. Since it'll be pulling the app from the FireTV side of the AFTv ( Its side loaded... ) The only way I can access it now is by going all the way back to AFTv screen and going to settings and all apps ( or something like that )

If you want a button for firefox in aennox just add firefox to your favorites, then select it from your favorites when setting up the button.

Or if your using Aeon Nox 4, you can add it directly to the Home screen.
Go to System > Appearance > Skin (Settings) > Custumizer (Main menu item customizer)
Then on the Main menu, select the item you want to add as a custom menu item and select it. If if has a red X on it, then select "disable" to enable it, then select "Choose Type".
Now select "Custom" and in the keyboard box type in:
StartAndroidActivity("your.app.apk")
So for example Netflix would be:
StartAndroidActivity("com.netflix.ninja")
You can do this for either the main menu item or for sub-menu items.

Thanks!!!

How do I add Firefox to my favorites
Or how do I find the directory where Firefox is so I can type it in the custom StartAndroidActivity section

Finally got iy. I had to go back into the Confluence ++ skin, add the app to my favorites and then go back into the custom Aeon Nox skin and then add the app from favorites...

Today screen modification

I would like to know if it possible to sort the today screen plugins.
I know how to change the order the plugins show on the today screen.
But I can not change the date position.
I would like to put the date plugin a few spaces under but its greyed out.
Does anyone have a patch or reg hack for that?
Goto the following menu,
Start>Settings>Today, then click the "Items" tab at the bottom of the screen. Here you can highlight the plugin you want to move and move them up or change their options.

(REQ) Screen Rotating Application

Hi, can anybody suggest me a screen rotating application where I can choose the applications & also things like dialer, lock screen, email, messaging etc. manually, that I want to rotate.
And before any1 asks me to use changescreen, I have already used it, but the interface is really poor. Can't understand a damn thing on how to choose specific applications & utilities to rotate...
I use MobileMagic to rotate the screen and launch applications via rotation of the screen ...
you find here...

then proceed as follows:
Press on "show name apps"
opens a dialog box and press ok
on each application that you open up the name of it, choose an application, go changescreen, press on "stop", press on "exception", press to top on "add"
and the string that appears check the program name you've seen before ...

[Q] How to use S-Note background images??

Open S-Note. Open menu (three horizontal lines, top left). Bottom shopping cart: More features. Background image.
Yep, there, they are, the seven pretty backgrounds I downloaded while browsing a nice-sized library of options.
BUT HOW DO I USE THEM? No matter where I play around, I can't seem to find how to *use* one of the images! I can select it in the screen I just described, but then the only option is to delete it. I can change the background color of an action memo (wow, I'd really love an action memo with one of these backgrounds, but I guess not). I can change the template and cover in an S-Note, and change the defaults for those. But nothing lets me use a background image???
How do I use these things? And almost as importantly, now that I've run all over my phone trying to figure it out, where did I go to browse that lovely list and download the things in the first place?
I'd really love a link to a tutorial (article, video, whatever) if anyone could point me to one.
Thank you in advance!!!!
If I understand your question correctly...
With S-Note open to one of the individual pages, tap edit key, tap three dot menu button, tap page options, hit change background, select a background and tap apply.

New theme unresponsive, cant change, help!

So i just got a fire stick with kodi on it and when i was in the tvaddons settings the default skin was called confluence, i changed it to another that was available, I dont recall what it was named, but it's blue with circles, regardless the skin is un responsive in certain areas. it has no visual cues when you are in the main menu selecting, videos, music, programs etc. When i got to add a new add on and i am prompted to cancel or select ok ; the box comes up with cancel highlighted and does not allow me to move and highlight the install button. It will also not allow me to go to the settings at all so i cant figure out how to change it back to the theme it originally had. Is there a way that i can restore it? I did not add kodi onto my stick personally, and am unfamiliar with the tech side of it. Thanks for any help!!
I don't know which skin this is, hopefully someone else can help, but if you have a file explorer you can nuke the problem by deleting the correct skin folder, then Kodi/XBMC will default back to Confluence. I had a similar problem with the Titan Mediabrowser skin and this is how I fixed it.
With Kodi 15 and ES File Explorer, first go to Tools and turn "Show hidden files" on, then you go to Home/Android/Data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons, here you will see a bunch of folders, some named "skin.xxx", you just need to delete the correct skin folder (in ES: long press, then select Delete at the bottom of the screen). If you delete all of them, of course you lose any non-Confluence skin settings you made, but you will still have Confluence and you can just reinstall any skins you are interested in.
I don't know the exact folder structure for older Kodi/XBMC/SPMC/TVMC, but it will be something very similar to this.

Can you create folders within Kodi Video Add-ons? To organize many add-ons

Hey guys,
So I have a lot of apps on my firestick in the Kodi media center. Most are in the videos > add-ons section. I wanted to see if there was an app available where you could put the apps in folders to organize them. Children, Movies, Sports, etc..
Trying to find some type of program or feature that lets me do that. I have seen screenshots online of people doing it, but wanted to see if anyone knew anything like that.
Thanks1
There used to be an add on called Super Favorites. Not sure if it's still active but if so it could accomplish this.
Otherwise, you have to use the basic functionality of a kodi skin. For example on aeon mq5/6 you can add an item to your main menu such as Streaming Addons and add all streaming Addons under that category by clicking the left arrow to get to the sub menu. Then repeat for different types you want to categorize by.

Thank you for input!
I downloaded both themes and couldn't find where that was at? I would click over to the sub menu but couldn't see any options to where I could add an item.
I would go within mq6 it runs far smoother. Do customize the menu, when on the home screen of the skin, slide over to settings and click the down arrow, then choose the first option, that lets you edit the menu.
Can't remember what the first option is titled though, something like "customize" somethingorother.
Edit
"Customize main menu"
