you said that you want a deodexed rom, than just flash a custom recovery (twrp or philz) with odin than flash a deodexed & rooted stock rom

Thanx for your suggestion,
First thing i dont want to flash a new rom as i dont wana loose all my apps along with their data so i want to stay on the same rom.
2ndly now i somehow manage to root the same stock rom with Dr.Ketan multi tool v 6 but there is still a problem that after 2-3 reboots my note 2 automatically reverts back to unrooted state and i need to root again.I dont understand why this is happening or may be some app is reverting it back to unrooted state.
If any1 have solution for this than kindly explain it.

Sometimes a factory reset will remove root, depending on the root method. If root was gained by a means that persists through factory reset, the only way to remove it is with a flash to a stock firmware.

If you want to be completely stock without losing data....
First flash cf auto root for stock recovery
Then download supersu again
Then download triangle away
Run triangle away as root
Then go to super su and full unroot
0 flash counter
Stock recovery
Unrooted
Profit.
Ps this took me 2 hours to figure without losing apps or data. So hit the thanks if it helped

I tried a few times to update to 4.1.2 via OTA but it fails half way through, so today i decided to update via odin.
before i updated i'd thought i will remove the root for some stupid reason.
applied the update and everything went well. Re-rooted my phone via odin and cf auto root but no SuperSU. installed it from the play shop but it kept crashing all the time!!!!!! so it cant do anything.
Re-flashed the new firmware but the SuperSU icon is there but eveytime i click on it im getting "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
Can do i install it again?

Lets start at the beginning - rooting your device means you have "Administrator" rights on it and gives you the ability to do stuff you aren't supposed to do without root. The most basic example is - block most of the ads you see when browsing the web with your favorite browser and when using your apps.
It also gives you the ability to flash custom ROMs (which are new "Operating Systems" that have been modified for the better by other XDA members), install more root apps that let you do incredible things, and lets you change your DPI (making all the stuff on your phone smaller, thus giving you more things to see on your phone at any given time!).
In short, there are countless of possibilities. I'd recommend sticking with the Samsung based ROMs for a start as they will be more familiar. Specifically, I would recommend starting with Phoenix ROM (found here). It might be a big ROM (weighing 1.5GBs to download), but contains most of the features you'd ever need. I started with it and no matter which other ROM I try I just can't find anything better.
Please note, however, that you're better off reading about how to root, flash new recoveries and ROMs, what's EFS and how to backup it, and understanding what you're about to do before starting. Everything can be found on these forums
Good luck
The only thing you'd be losing is your warranty.
10/10 would recommend rooting.
Can we rollback to Samsung provided OS incase have to claim warranty due to some issue?
What are the chances of bricking the phone?
Sent from my GT-N7100
Yes you can, you can roll back to non-rooted original ROM. Not sure if it applies to all ROMs but some methods of rooting increase flash count which can be seen by technicians thus voiding your warranty. but there are ways to remove it/set back to 0. Just do what Freezeil said and read through the Dev section and see what can be done and the outcomes of actions taken. Personally I've only got Root on my N2 as all I wanted was to install several apps that require root(Titanium Back Up, Root Explorer, Lucky Patcher, etc.) and I'll be sticking to original ROMs on it, i.e. no custom ROMs. but it'll all depend on what you want. On my N1 I'm running different ROMs depending on my mood and I like experimenting with it. But always make sure you make a back up of your ROM and EFS file which contains your IMEI coz if it goes while flashing, it's a ***** to get back on your own.
If you do root check out the xposed framework and its apps. There is just about every customisation possible, its worth rooting for that alone

rooting does not void warranty as now contributors and dev here has done great job as even after root the binary status remain unchanged so the only thing u need to do is just a click to unroot and if anything goes wrong still samsung wont be able to make out it was rooted you can check pre rooted odex rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230250 its normal samsung stuff with root priveledge u even have mods now to root it one click ,the only thing which voids warranty is custom recovery which can be reverted as already mentioned.

suggest u to download the odex rooted latest rom linked above and as those are samsung firmware default ,only if u want the latest firmware orelse just go rooting ,if u like custom then get your recovery to philz or twrp
note:backup your efs atleast 2 to 3 times just to be safe and keep it on pc or online storage
I like samsung rom which is pre-installed and would love if i can only get root access to this. So i should look for a way to get root access to this version itself. Can i achieve that? Any link that i can follow?
Sent from my GT-N7100
Galaxy toolkit is a simple tool to enable you to root your phone.
The main thing you will lose if you root is sky go if you use it. New eu law States you shouldn't lose your warranty either.
But you need to ask your self is it right for you to root your phone?
If you want increased volume, better anti theft protection, fewer ads, firewall, sd card memory swap, ability to Flash different roms, kernels etc etc etc.
The best rom I've found by a country mile is Jedi 17 rom.
Good luck and post back your findings

The day you are going to get a 4.3 update from Samsung is light years away. Let's conclude, it's too early to worry about it.:highfive:
@hellobye80
To get OTA just use Multitool mentioned in a link just above your post by @shhbz
select clean option
then open SuperSU app - setting -Full unroot.
After this you should get OTA, in case you didn't get try factory reset.
Still issue, you can get 4.3 (OR ant ROM) by flashing with Odin.
Thanks All.
Is there any app that i can use to restrict some permissions that are allowed to some applications like "Facebook" app that has access to "call phone number directly" .

Upgrade to 4.3 with root
Hello
JB 4.3 for N7100 is now released for Note 2 in India.
I am currently using n7100 with stock 4.1.2 which was rooted using Method 1 as mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696" (Thanks to @dr.ketan for step-by-step guide). using this method I was also able to reset the flash counter to 0.
Now i want to have Stock 4.3 on my device and have root access again. is there a similar guide available that i can follow to achieve this?
I also read about Samsung KNOX and its added to the 4.3 but not sure if i understand that correctly. is there any issues with rooting a phone with 4.3?
Please Suggest
Thanks

I could not even launch titanium backup to freeze knox. Or was completely unable to disable knox. Now as android 4.3 has been released for quite a few months. Does anyone know of a method which will root my galaxy note 2 tmobile (SGH-T889) for sure and let me completely disable knox? If so please give me step by step instruction of rooting my device or alteratively you can provide me a link of the instruction so I can root my note 2 phone. I appreciate your help.

cf auto root should work for root. what did you use to root? if you are rooted install a custom recovery and flash a knoxfree rom from the dev section
Flash CF auto root via Odin then download latest superuser from play store and you are ready to go.

Just as a suggestion, something that happened to me while playing around with the phone: if you're running Stock rom and then flash a custom recovery via Odin (I used Philz Touch) upon booting on recovery just to wipe cache/dalvik I found something interesting: my phone wasn't rooted, so when chosing the option "reboot system now" a message that said something like "root is broken, would you like to root your phone before rebooting" appeared. I was curious, as I normally use a website called Kingo root that does it in a one-click kinda way. When I chose Yes in the recovery, upon booting my phone it was rooted. After, I just intalled Chainfire's SuperSU from the play store and it was all good.
It's worth trying I believe.

You may not have the appropriate permissions to access. The last time I tried to root my phone i didn't run odin in administrator mode. I'm just finding out about this recently. I have all of the files installed on the computer and ready. Odin, recovery, keis, and supersu zip on sd card. Im just trying to figure out why I got that error message. The only answer that pops up in my mind would be that you weren't running Odin as an administrator, like you mentioned. Maybe try running Odin as an admin, or alternatively (and I haven't tried this myself but Chainfire's thread gives a good step-by-step and people in the forum do help) use mobile Odin ------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899. The first time I wanted to root my phone I was having issues too, not being able to do it because of lack of experience. I stumbled upon this website: http://www.kingoapp.com/. Check it out, if you would like. This kingo app is a downloadle app (kind of like Odin) that Roots yourm phone alone, without needing to flash anything. The step-by-step's are there, just turn on your developer options and then turn on USB debugging. I personally rooted A Galaxy Tab, SIII, a Note I i717 and an Asus MemoPad with that website and it worked perfectly for me. Rooting via custom recovery is something that I learned recently, and by chance. I do not know whether it trips the Knox counter or not to be honest with you, to me it doesn't make a difference since I will not be returning any of the devices I rooted, After rooting the phone like so you could potentially download mobile Odin from Chainfire's thread and then use Odin without needing to use your computer.
Hope this helps

Yeah that was it, i rooted it earlier today. I do have another question for you. I ran root checker pro and it says I'm rooted. I tried to install busybox but it said remove supersu permissions reinstall supersu and to delete and reinstall busybox. Also the adb shell doesn't have root access either. So is that a common occurrence, or is it the norm after rooting and installing custom recovery? Awaiting your reply. Thanks in advance...

Sorry for the late reply, hadn't been to the forum in a minute. To be honest with u, I don't know for sure. I haven't personally yet served myself from adb so I can't tell u. However, the reason why you received that response from busybox may be because when u were partially rooted it gained root access (if it ever did, I only assume).
Try what was asked of u and I'm sure busybox will work no problems. Also, if u have the terminal emulator apk try entering the command "root" (without the ") and if u gain roots access it will definitely mean you are rooted for sure.
What do you want to use adb for, if I may ask?

What recovery are you using, and how did you install it, TWRP bricked mine.
C auto root is flashed with odin in download mode. While rooting, it installs a custom recovery.
maybe it's kitkat, but it didn't install one for me. When I went into recovery, it was the normal factory recovery, which allowed nothing. I tried with Rom Manager, but nothing.
CF worked
I had to manually install the latest Supersu apk then update the binaries to get it working afterword, but I'm finally rooted
Now to get tether working

Download a recovery like philz and flash it in odin while the phone is in download mode
Let me ask you this:
1. root with odin.
2. install CWM with odin?
3. Not I have 4.4.2 stock rom with root.
4. Can I install a custom rom with 4.4.2. stock rom still on the phone?

Yes, if 1 - 3 is accomplished, you are ready for experiments in custom roms. You use the recovery to flash.
But make sure you have the latest recovery, and that you check the rom instructions a few times before you do anything.
Ok....cwm from Rom manager, or twrp through odin? I don't mean to break chops, I've rooted a captivate and played with it for a year, when my wtty was over with this phone, I rooted it, and had JediX 19 on it. I went back to stock, and then 4.4.2 When samsung stock 4.4.2 was installed, for some reason, it keeps bricking on me.
Ok, I rooted, and installed twrp from odin,.... passed. When I go into recovery, it's not there.
Ok. Hopefully someone has an answer. I rooted with CF auto root, Odin....fine. Installed CWM, fine. Downloaded SuperSU.....unfortunately superuser stopped working everytime I press on it. I cannot uninstall it, because it DOES NOT show up in application manager. I installed root checker, and says phone is not rooted. I can get into clockwork MOD, but no zip files show up. Can I use Odin to re flash CF auto root?, or just quit, I would hate to brick this again.
Sounds like Knox is blocking you. After rooting, install the latest Supersu apk (2.02) and install manually. Then when you open it, it should ask to update binaries. Let it, then it should ask about dialing Knox. Click yes. Viola, you're fully rooted. After the above is done, you can play with ROMs n such.
Up till that point, there is no need to flash anything, as auto root is designed to do the work for you from a pure stock rom.

Thank you sir! I went into ES file explorer, and manually installed SuperSU. Although it never asked about dialing KNOX. I installed Root Checker, and it says I'm rooted. Appreciate yours and everyone else's help. Have a great day.
