I have the same issue when entering Recovery the screen turns black . I assume the recovery image is incorrect. Will dig in to it and hope to find a solution. Keep me updated from your side too.
All the best

You have to use the CWM recovery image from the Unofficial CM11 thread posted by Grarak.
This is the only one that loads properly first to allow the SuperSU flash.
Once you flash that specific recovery from that thread you can use any other recovery you would like.
Its a weird bug but its true.

Hi,
Could you please share downlod path for - CWM recovery image from the Unofficial CM11 thread posted by Grarak.

Mobile handset details = Model -HTC desire 820q, Kernal 3.10.28, Android version 4.4.4
Thank You...

TWRP recovery
Download TWRP recovery for HTC 816 [a5]
You will need the platform-tools from the Android SDK on your computer. Find the Android command line tools section on the page linked and install the SDK tools package. From the SDK Manager, download only the platform-tools to get adb and fastboot binaries.
Windows users will need proper drivers installed on their computer. You can try the Naked ADB drivers or the Universal ADB drivers if you don't already have a working driver installed
On your device, go into Settings -> About and find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable developer settings. Press back and go into Developer Options and enable USB debugging. From your computer, open a command prompt and type:
adb reboot bootloader
You should now be in fastboot mode.
Download the correct image file and copy the file into the same folder as your adb and fastboot binaries. Rename the image to twrp.img and type:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot reboot
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.

One V Virgin Mobile help installing custom rom

Okay, so I'm a semi-noob. I used to have plenty on android phones but switched to the iPhone a year back. I'm back now!
So I rooted the phone on my Mac. All is well in that regard for the most part, but I can't seem to install a custom rom or use clockwork because there isn't a backup available. When I tried to install the customs rom(Modaco vanilla) it just gets stuck on the HTC white screen.
Can anyone help?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
There is no cdma custom rom available yet at the moment. All custom roms in dev section are for gsm one v.
That would explain it. Thanks. Hopefully soon!
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
one other thing... it I turn my phone back on it gets stuck on the white HTC logo. I have to plug it into to my computer and reflash the superboot image and then it'll reboot and turn on. Any idea why???
When you installed the MoDaCo's ROM, did you fastboot flash it's boot.img ? When you revert to your stock ROM, did you flash the boot.img for the stock ROM ?
The superboot img works to root the device only. Once you reboot, the system will read your last boot.img that you fastboot flash. If the your last fastboot boot.img is not the right one for your device, you will have this problem.
The superboot image was the last one I flashed. I guess this is where I'm lost. What is the recovery image I'm supposed to boot next? Is that the sprint/virgin CDMA recovery posted on the same page in the general section?
And what do I need to type in to terminal to do this.
Thanks for your help with all this. I appreciate it.
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
Based on something I've read online, I could move the img(if its the one i downloaded) from my SD card to /system/recovery.img is this correct?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
I'm not familiar with MAC.
But let me explain this:
fastboot boot boot.img (or boot.superboot.img for this case) -
The boot.img is not permanently installed in the device. You will lose it after reboot.
fastboot flash boot boot.img -
The boot.img is permanently installed in the device.
As the boot.superboot.img is for rooting purpose only, it is not advisable to flash that as a permanent boot.img
What you need now is to flash the stock boot.img. Download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28218226&postcount=11
Then use this command : fastboot flash boot boot.img
And here is the recovery.img for your device : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749798
Thanks a million! just flashed that boot.img and the phone is booting right up now. Next on my list is the recovery img, but i have to sleep.
Thanks again. You were a huge help.

Tried to flash boot Android Revolution HD, Phone bricked

Seems I'm in the wrong forum section, I have a Dual Core processor.
So I managed to unlock bootloader through htcdev.com, managed to root it with OneXRootOneClick and also managed to get Clockwork Mod Recovery.
However, as I followed these steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
As I tried to install Android Revolution HD 9.7.0, through clockwork mod recovery, a few moments after it starts installing, the application seems to crash when it reaches this directory: system/lib/libssl.so. I then return to the main menu of the clock mod recovery.
At the moment, I cannot normally boot my phone. Either I open it in bootloader, either it stays stuck on HTC logo with the following message: this build is for development purposes only do not distribute outside htc with out htc write permission failure to comply my lead to legal action.
Any help/assistance is appreciated.
Use fastboot to flash a different recovery, I recommend TWRP, flash using fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Then boot into the new recovery and try flashing the rom
Also make sure that your download isn't corrupt by checking its md5 value. Redownload the rom just to be safe.

Let me guess,
You have a dual core S4 ONE X and flashed ARHD which is for quad core tegra 3.....
Yeah?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
not bricked (as far as you can access the bootloader),
EDIT:try flashing the boot.img(kernel) using the fastboot method step 5 below, if your phone is S-ON recovery will not be able to flash boot.img even though it shows as successful
make sure you identify your phone as Quadcore(tegra 3 processor) or dual core(S4 processor) then read this if its the quadcore, or go to this forum if you're Dual-core.
I'm not familiar with differences between tweaking steps of S4 and T3 devices, but if you're sure its an International T3 One-X you can follow the following:
1-Return your phone to its original state. (using an RUU flasher if neccessary)
2-Read the tutorials' steps properly.
3-After reading all the steps, root and install a custom recovery( i used this tool its easy and quick)
4-Download the Custom rom(arhd) and install it (you will most likely get bootloop if you start phone before next step but its fine)
5-extract the boot.img(kernel) from the rom.zip file and flash it using fastboot mode and wipe the cache in the bootloader (arhd supplies a tool that does this, flash_boot_9.X.X.zip)
6-Wipe cache and dalvik and reset battery stats(advised if phone is fully charged)
Hope i helped.

Problem with fastboot
Hi. I have padfone2. I have rooted it and all was fine. i removed some stock apps and before installing recovery and backing up the phone i did factory reset. Now the phone shows asus logo then shows android logo with progress bar and few seconds later it reboots and does it again and again. I want to flash a custom rom so i started the phone in fastboot with power/volume buttons. All the screen shows is "Fastboot!!!" at the top of the screen and asus logo somewhere in the middle. I flashed suggested twrp with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" from the cmd and it looked ok. When I rebooted the phone it went straight into the loop again. When I start it in fastboot mode there is no menu or anything else to start the recovery. What do I need to do to open it. Please help. Thanks.
This is the one V forum so I don't know what you can flash, but when your phone restarts (boot loop) you must have flashed a wrong kernel. To reboot into recovery connect the pad to the pc and type in cmd "adb reboot recovery" then just flash the right kernel, you have to find that on your own, check the thread of the rom you are trying to use

Tried to flash two and deleted stock recovery.

Hi all. Yesterday I rooted my ze551ml and tried to flash twrp onto my device. It was not successful and now I have no stock recovery. When I try to enter recovery by pushing the power button, it just returns to normal boot. I unlocked my bootloader with a file I found in the zenfone general section. How do I go about flashing the stock recovery. I downloaded a stock firmware from Asus and extracted it. But the recovery does not show up as a recovery.img. can someone give me some assistance or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

I don't know then I have no time today , all stuff is in that link re flashing recovery , stock or custom , full firmware etc etc ..you have minimal fastboot and adb installed ? Drivers etc , your fone is recognised in adb ? eg, adb devices ?
What I would do , is fastboot flash recovery.img (twrp) and be done with it .Although if you have damaged other stuff ..flash full firmware , all info is in the link ..

I have tried to flash the latest TWRP recovery with those commands. It fails to flash. My bootloader has been unlocked with the unlock and relock program I found in the General section. I also have root. I have used root checker to verify. When I try to enter recovery, it goes right back to normal boot. I get no dead Android nor bootloader menu. I think when I tried to flash TWRP, it deleted my stock recovery. I am at a loss here. I never had this happen when flashing on my HTC one x or M7.

Quicksilver ? A few questions need answering please
1) do you have 'minimal adb and fastboot ' installed on pc ?
2) do you know the commands to flash a recovery in fastboot ?
3) and that you know how to get into fastboot ?
4) have you adb debugging enabled
Things to try, install 'reboot recovery' app from playstore and give it su rights then ..reboot bootloader ..then press the vol + once ...then try flash twrp in windroid toolkit ..the one for zen 2.
A few things to try there

Thank you for your efforts timbernot. I am on .174. I did download the stock recovery but for my build, but was unable to flash it. It showed up as recovery in my download folder. It is my understanding that I have to ad .img to it when I flash" fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". I will leave it for this evening as I am terribly frustrated at the moment. I'll try again on the weekend.
