One V Virgin Mobile help installing custom rom - HTC One V

Okay, so I'm a semi-noob. I used to have plenty on android phones but switched to the iPhone a year back. I'm back now!
So I rooted the phone on my Mac. All is well in that regard for the most part, but I can't seem to install a custom rom or use clockwork because there isn't a backup available. When I tried to install the customs rom(Modaco vanilla) it just gets stuck on the HTC white screen.
Can anyone help?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app

There is no cdma custom rom available yet at the moment. All custom roms in dev section are for gsm one v.

That would explain it. Thanks. Hopefully soon!

one other thing... it I turn my phone back on it gets stuck on the white HTC logo. I have to plug it into to my computer and reflash the superboot image and then it'll reboot and turn on. Any idea why???

When you installed the MoDaCo's ROM, did you fastboot flash it's boot.img ? When you revert to your stock ROM, did you flash the boot.img for the stock ROM ?
The superboot img works to root the device only. Once you reboot, the system will read your last boot.img that you fastboot flash. If the your last fastboot boot.img is not the right one for your device, you will have this problem.

The superboot image was the last one I flashed. I guess this is where I'm lost. What is the recovery image I'm supposed to boot next? Is that the sprint/virgin CDMA recovery posted on the same page in the general section?
And what do I need to type in to terminal to do this.
Thanks for your help with all this. I appreciate it.

Based on something I've read online, I could move the img(if its the one i downloaded) from my SD card to /system/recovery.img is this correct?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app

I'm not familiar with MAC.
But let me explain this:
fastboot boot boot.img (or boot.superboot.img for this case) -
The boot.img is not permanently installed in the device. You will lose it after reboot.
fastboot flash boot boot.img -
The boot.img is permanently installed in the device.
As the boot.superboot.img is for rooting purpose only, it is not advisable to flash that as a permanent boot.img
What you need now is to flash the stock boot.img. Download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28218226&postcount=11
Then use this command : fastboot flash boot boot.img
And here is the recovery.img for your device : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749798

Thanks a million! just flashed that boot.img and the phone is booting right up now. Next on my list is the recovery img, but i have to sleep.
Thanks again. You were a huge help.

[Q] HTC Desire HD Stuck on White screen - S-On with Root access

I have a problem with my HTC Desire HD after attempting to flash a custom rom.
Bootloader unlocked using HTCDev
Clockwork Mod Recovery (Touch version) installed
Root access
Phone will not boot into Android, stuck on white 'HTC' screen.
I have adb access when phone is in Clockwork Mod Recovery
adb shell is showing # so assume I have root
When attempting to flash RUU or PD98IMG get Main Version Older error.
So please can someone guide me in the right direction to recover this phone?
Many thanks

When you unluck using HTC dev flashing roms is different. You have to flash the boot.img separately. So what you do is flash rom, then boot into hboot and make sure fast boot is selected. Then flash the boot.img using the command
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then reboot. You'll have to do this every time you change roms. I recommend getting 4ext as it has a new feature that will do both steps for you and make it more like the regular soff method of flashing

flashed boot.img using fastboot
but... still stuck on HTC white screen.
What have I misssed?
Not sure what you mean by kernal/saga directory. What from are you trying to flash? Saga is a different phone

Hi
I have tried again flashing boot.img that is in a PD98IMG.zip file.
Same result - stuck on HTC White screen.
Thanks for your help with this - is there anything else I need to check / do?
Your trying to flash the boot image of the pd98 onto a custom rom? Let's start from the beginning. Download a custom from from the dhd dev section. Let's say arhd. Place it on SD card and a copy of it boot image(from inside the from zip) in sdk where fast boot is located.
Boot into car do a full wipe(data/cache/system) and flash rom. Reboot into boot then flash the boot img

Muchly appreciated!!

[Q] Clockworkmod restore doesn't work

So on Friday I flashed the alpha build of Cyanogenmod 10 to my One X, which went fine and I made a backup of my stock rom before flashing. Now, today I wanted to go back to the stock HTC rom, so I choose restore in Clockworkmod, which also goes fine, then I boot up the phone and when it gets to the HTC One screen, it hangs there. The tune you get when it gets to that screen also cuts out in the middle each time. Does this mean that my backup is broken and that I'm basically SOL, or is there something else going on here?
As a final note, I've managed to flash back to Cyanogenmod 10 alpha,so I can still use my phone.

You have to flash stock boot.IMG using fastboot BEFORE booting your ROM.
Also remember to send
Fastboot erase cache
Right after flashing the boot IMG.

I know you can get the the stock boot.img out of the RUU files, but is there another way, since the only RUU file download I found is filefactory which is apocalyptically slow (3h+ for a 577MB file, where I only need the boot.img from)?
my version is 1.29.401.11 by the way.

not sure if I'm right but can you not open the backup in windows and extract the zip?

well, in the mean time, I found another solution: since android revolution HD uses the stock kernel, I downloaded it from there and flashed it via fastboot and it worked fine.
For future reference the boot.IMG is in your backup but cwm cannot flash it. Its in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/xxxxxxxx/
just Mount USB storage in cwm
Copy the boot IMG from folder to PC
Reboot to fastboot then flash it

Problem with fastboot
Hi. I have padfone2. I have rooted it and all was fine. i removed some stock apps and before installing recovery and backing up the phone i did factory reset. Now the phone shows asus logo then shows android logo with progress bar and few seconds later it reboots and does it again and again. I want to flash a custom rom so i started the phone in fastboot with power/volume buttons. All the screen shows is "Fastboot!!!" at the top of the screen and asus logo somewhere in the middle. I flashed suggested twrp with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" from the cmd and it looked ok. When I rebooted the phone it went straight into the loop again. When I start it in fastboot mode there is no menu or anything else to start the recovery. What do I need to do to open it. Please help. Thanks.
This is the one V forum so I don't know what you can flash, but when your phone restarts (boot loop) you must have flashed a wrong kernel. To reboot into recovery connect the pad to the pc and type in cmd "adb reboot recovery" then just flash the right kernel, you have to find that on your own, check the thread of the rom you are trying to use

[Q] Ruined my Recovery Mode?

Hi everyone.
I was able to successfully unlock the bootloader and root the phone.
However, I have trouble trying to get into the Clockwork Recovery Mode. Every time I try I just get a message saying that this is a special distribution and some other legal stuff. I can't get into recovery mode.
Anyone else have this problem and fix it? If so, how so? I would like to install some custom ROMs.
Have u flashed the recovery in fastboot?. The screen with red letters is normal.it shows u have installed custom firmware on ur phone.

I believe I have. I have also done it via the Clockwork Mod app.
How would I go about making backups and installing custom roms?
For that u have to flash custom recovery. Flash it again...
Download appropriate recovery.img for ur phone. place it in fastboot folder.rename it recovery.img.go into fastboot n connect phone 2 pc.it should say fastboot USB. Now use command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img while in fastboot( not in boatloader screen).

I think I did that. But I will try again

Did it twice, unfortunately all I get is the disclaimer instead of the Clockword Mod recovery options. I can't even do a factory reset.
Here is what I used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635520
Still doesn't work.
If you flashed the clockworkmod recovery.img via fastboot and it says successful it should be on there. The HTC disclaimer boot screen is normal. You must boot into the bootloader and select recovery to get into clockworkmod.
The only recovery I can get working is Team Win. I Unfortunately after I install a rom it either freezes at the disclaimer or the rom reboots the system. The I can't even restore the stock recovery.
Any advice?

TWRP is more convenient than clockworkmod for this particular phone in my opinion. When flashing rom don't forget you have to flash boot.img (kernel) from the rom (usually extracted from the zip). If your having problems with roms you may have to RUU back to stock.

wifi issue on all roms question

no matter what rom, kernel ect i use after a reboot my wifi fails to work. it eventually errors out. it works fine on stock rom. i have even flashed a few roms with the stock kernel, boot boot img. wifi works. i start adding market apps and then i lose it. most of the time after a restart and i have to reflash or ruu to get it back. am i missing something somewhere?
You have to flash the img in fastboot and the the kernel in recovery.

fastboot flash boot boot.img., not fastboot boot boot.img
start the proceess again using htc one v all in one kit
The command is 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' as stated above. Do u use this command?
Do you get a root request mksh?if so,accept it.otherwise wifi problems may arise.
