Update problem - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Update won't install for me. I am jus rooted, no recovery. I even did a factory reset, them tripped the update and no good. Anyone know what I can do?

Just use LG pc suite. Actually factory reset doesn't remove root. Or you can download the kdz file then install it using flash tool.

Ok, I thank you, but could you tell me that like I'm a third grader?

Search for your appropriate kdz file corresponding to your phone model and region and firmware update. Use Lg Flash tool to flash the kdz file. Search the forums/threads, its all been posted before.

Phone stuck in download mode...

How do I fix this? I'm on SU640...
I already tried removing the battery, turning it on just goes back to download mode...
You will probably need to flash it again with the LG tool. See the unbrick thread in this forum, you'll need to use that to flash the Korean ROM again.

p930 able to flash korean rom, but why cant we flash ice cream korean?
Forgot to update, fixed it... This happened while I was downgrading from 10L to 10f, what I did was:
1. Download new kdz(maybe it was corrupt)
2. Download the tool
3. Install sxml.msi
4. Install LG united drivers
5. Connect phone and let it install drivers
6. Extract kdz to C:/ don't put it in more folders also the tool. I think the shorter path helped.
7. Put phone in download mode (Mine was stuck there)
8. Run the program, click cs_emergency
9. Choose kdz
10. Launch software.

Value Pack Update Rom Flashable Via CWM for e980?

Hey,
I'm just wondering if someone can describe the process or send me a link on how to flash the Value Pack update for my e980. I know there is a post with the updated firmware, but you have to use LG flash tool, which I can't get to work. If it's possible, I'd like to CWM the update. I can't OTA the update because it keeps telling me that my device is not registered (I use T-Mobile). Thanks!

There is NO flashable zip you will HAVE to use LG Flashtools. Try another computer.

Is there a good guide for this? The thread that has the flashable files is kind of confusing. I'm not fully sure how to do it, and am kind of afraid to mess up my phone. Thanks!
The value update .tot file for use with lgflashtools was posted by thecubed, download that. And also go to the fix soft brick thread and download the files there. Use that guide to flash the value pack .tot instead of the regular stock .tot file.
It will say it failed but as long as your phone is booted up and running(which it will be), you should be good to go.

You can flash the kdz (stock file) for the update you have available by using LG Flash Tool 2014 (do a Normal flash).
The instructions and tools required for flashing a KDZ file are in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
The steps are roughly:
1. Find and download the correct KDZ file for your phone by following this link (replacing IMEI at the end with your IMEI)
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEI
2. Flash the KDZ using LG Flash Tool 2014
3. Once finished flashing and the phone has rebooted, re-install TWRP and flash root
Cheers.
Thanks I'll give it a try

Stock vs986 11a system image needed

Hi,
I am on rooted 11a, but now I would like to unroot, and it appears LG Flash Tool 2014 is not working on Windows 10. Can someone share or tell me where to download an 11a stock system.img that is not rooted? I tried to create system.img from kdz file, but even thought that seems to run fine, the OTA still fails to apply.

I think you need to kdz somehow, as laf.img? download mode is reporting modified, same as if you power up with (P) (V) buttons booting to recovery.

Stock Marshmallow rom needed urgently - H815 20E

My G4 has just gone on me again, just sitting at the boot logo and a flashing blue led. This is the 2nd time in a week and the last time it was due to a corrupt build.prop, which I was able to replace from backup. This time it has just happened randomly and the original build.prop doesn't help.
So if someone can help me out urgently with a stock marshmallow rom for twrp it would be a big help.
Cheers.

Yes, it boots to twrp. Thats the reason I need the 20e zip file and not kdz. I was able to flash a 20d zip last night which then allowed me to flash the 20e kdz. But when I flashed twrp again just now, the same thing has happened again. I'm thinking now that this started happening when I updated twrp to the latest version via the twrp app, and it was only when I had another app crash and reboot my phone two nights ago that it happened for the first time. I'm going to downgrade twrp to an earlier version and see if that makes a difference.

??? you needed the zip to flash KDZ.??? that makes no sense.. then no hardware issue just a soft brick, a software issue. all you had to do was KDZ to latest version. using the refurbished option on LGUP.
then inject twrp and install twrp permanently and then root .
wich twrp are you using.? have you tried this.
the unnoficial beta5.

I was unable to boot my phone so I needed to reflash it. As I only had access to twrp, I had to flash a zip file. I couldn't find a 20e zip so I flashed the next best thing, which was a 20d file. This isn't the correct version for my phone and let me know that each time I booted it. So once I had the phone booted up, I used LGUP to flash the 20e kdz file. My reasoning for this is that I can only flash a kdz file using LGUP, and as I can't boot my phone, I can't use LGUP. So are you telling me I can flash a kdz file from twrp?
Anyway, it appears the latest twrp (twrp-3.0.2-1-h815) was causing the problem. I reverted back to the previous version and I have had no issues so far. I've taken a full nandroid backup to be on the safe side.
Thanks for the advice.

if you boot to twrp then am pretty sure you can enter download mode and use LGUP and KDZ. that was my point. its even better as its the official firmware that will fix any issues..

I couldn't get the phone into download mode. If I had been able to do so it would've made life a lot easier for me. Flashing the zip file and then the kdz was a long winded way to do it but I finally got the desired effect. And I was able to tell that the latest twrp looks to be problematic for the H815 (I've prepared myself for any resulting backlash).

Just disabling automatic updates in your rom should fix all this. Latest twrp works fine.
