hi guys
most of you must know by now any graphic intensive game can run smoothly when the resolution of the device is changed from 2k to 1080 p . Is there a method or way to just change the resolution of the game and not the whole device ? I tried xposed module app settings but i can only change the dpi and the games still lag . Have any of you had any success in this ?

I owned a Sony Xperia S lt26i.
it will lags constantly while playing some games, i think it is because of its high screen resolution. (correct me if i'm wrong)
If i want to change whole device screen resolution from 1280x720 to 960x540
I just need to change the lcd density/screen resolution at build.prop and change all apps to 960x540 compatible (included launcher/dialer) , then change the details of my model to Xperia P (which is a 960x540 resolution)
Is it this way will work?
any help is appreciate
seems not easy to get an answer ~.~

You cant change the resolution of the screen. The density is another story though.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
He wants to change the screen of the application.
No need to be an asshole, you know what he means.

If you have CWM installed then make a backup. Then apply the changes you think will work. If it works then good if not restore the backup.

Q1:
CWM with locked bl will work as well? (i mean backup)
Q2:
changing density = changing resolution?
if 1280x720 change to 960x540, then
341.54 PPI (my PPI i think 340 if didn't rmb wrong) need to change to what value?
Edit: Checked, LCD density is 320, so what value i gonna to change to suit the 960x540?
Q3:
i tried to change before, but seems Launcher is not suitable for this resolution and those apps like subway surfers still is 1280x720 (define by the watching the FPS (2x~4x) ), so means i need details of my XS to XP then the apps need to re-download?
Thanks for reply
For unlocked bootloader, CWM backup works on latest version. I think version 4 is newest
I have no knowledge about resolution. Maybe check white paper, on Sony site, for the P for its specs.
After build.prop changes reinstall apps. Market should see changes.
Good luck

i see.
Extra:
LCD density increase = Screen resolution decrease = Performance increase = Visual quality decrease?
is it this statement correct?
You can't decrease or increase screen resolution. The number of pixels are a hardware thing. You can change DPI, but that won't have an effect on the performance, but on how big or small everything will be rendered on the screen.

Oh ya.. This is the answer i want :crying:
It won't increase performance then no point to change it
that means we can't play subway surfers with full fps.. (even lose a samsung galaxy s)
Question Solved.
Thanks everyone!

I hope you weren't using subway surfers as your lag test. I just went to the store to download it and every comment about it said that the app made the phone lag/laggy.
My kids play temple run, looks similar, and no lagging here
Edit: I just played both and I have no lag. Game played smoothly. Only played a couple minutes though

yeah, temple run is constant 60fps and never drop, asphalt 7 still ok, but not constantly smooth also
max temp for cpu is how much? i would like to set it higher to prevent cpu decrease while gaming :silly:
It is possible the ze550ml 720p make 1080p resolution?
I don't know how...

no i dont think it is possible... Even if u root ur phone you wont be able to change your resolution from 720p to 1080p... Its a hardware thing not software...If this was possible no-one would buy 1080p display variants and everyone around here would be changing their 720p display phone resolution to 1080p You can change your screen's dpi (makes things look smaller/bigger) but not its resolution... if you want to change dpi here is thread (see #8 adjusting dpi without root):

Hello guys,
is there a way to lower screen res to 1080p by default (for system and everything running)?
Thank you
You can google "wm size" and "wm density", for 1080p you might as well set the dpi to 420. I don't recommend you do this on stock rom though.
If you think this can help you save battery life, it won't.
If you want performance, the gpu is strong enough for most apps that you probably won't notice any different between FHD or QHD. For 3D gaming, HTC's boost+ can lower the game resolution to 1080p.
Indeed, if you change the resolution and density, they can make some apps acting weird.

It doesn't open apps faster, but it can make the UI smoother (transitions/scrolling). This is entirely subjective of course, and then there's the variables of different rom/kernel combinations
Hello the game battery booster app installed on the htc 10 does anyone seem to have this working?
My understanding is that once you add a game to the list, the game will run at 1080p instead of 1440p but so far am getting poor performance in games and when I take a screenshot I see 1440p and not 1080p reason for my lower frame rate.
Is it really hard for htc to add an overlay that pops up saying when it's enabled?
OK is they any other apps out there that will down scale games? Without root.
Thanks
I use it for all of my games and it seems to have a very minor impact on battery life for the few games I do play. I haven't had an issue with poor performance with or without it enabled.

I think the screenshot should be 1440p as opposed to 1080p as your actual screen is still 1440p (bringing actual resolution to 1080p would cause black bars on the screen which would look unsightly). The game booster probably just forces the game to render at 1080p so fewer pixels are generated and less load on GPU.
I want game booster for my htc desire 820 g + and I have lineage os 14.1 custom rom plz anybody give me
Currently we can force games to run at 1080p resolution which improves performance and battery life. But displaying 1080p image on 1440p screen is not ideal as the scaling will be "lossy", instead, if we could have the option to make games run at 720p, the pixel scaling ratio will be exactly 4:1, having an even bigger gain in performance.
Is it possible to mod Boost+ app so that we could run apps at 720p resolution?
one thing that u can do is this here!
See this
BTW: i think it makes no sense...only for Games in low Energy and Performance boost
you can connect htc to the pc and use the wm size 1080x1920 add shell, which will make it run full system and full hd, boost + will automatically reduce the game resolution to 720p and then go back to the adb shell and type wm size delete, the htc back to 2k but the game is still 720p.
