Please help.
Messaging apps like Whatsapp and Wechat keep closing on its own. I will not know I got messages until I manually start the apps.Sometimes it will just closed when I am typing on it.
My Note 2 is rooted with original ROM 4.1.2
Got the following apps installed which I think might be causing the problem. But I am sure I never hibernate or set auto kill Whatsapp or WeChat.
1. Bloatware Freezer Free
2. Clean Master
3. Greenify
4. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Mobile
5. AVG AntiVirus
Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I found that I was getting bad battery drain and consistently I saw Google play services as the culprit.
All you do is go to Google play services in app manager (under the all section) and uninstall updates. Make sure play store is not set to auto update apps. Then reboot.
I got one error message when first opening maps but then no problems and most of all no more battery drain. Something is wrong with the updated services. It was repaired in 4.4.3 but this will fix the battery drain without issue.

Here's a article that's more
In depth
http://www.product-reviews.net/2014/05/25/google-play-services-battery-drain-fix/
The drain was real. There's supposed to be an app that fixes it called gservicesfix
But the play services is only for update checks etc. The method I show works perfectly

Thanks for the tip, Robalboa. Worked well. Only issue was that I kept getting the error when opening Maps.
Out of curiosity, I went a couple steps further. After uninstalling the updates for the Google Play Services system app using your suggested method and getting good results, I used Titanium Backup to make the update-stripped Google Play Services a user app. At that point, I allowed the Play Store to update to the latest Google Play Services. This also appears to fix the battery drain problem for me but has the added benefit of having the latest version of Play Services for proper operation of Maps and other Google apps (with no error messages).

Hey thanks I used titanium like u said and converted to user app. And that alone took away the error message. Thanks alot.
ALL that services apk does is check for updates when u use a gapp but what sucks is the apps won't work If you disable it.
Thanks alot

As of two days now, the syncing symbol is permanently on and draining the battery like crazy. I don't know why is it trying or failing to sync constantly. I'm on Android 5.0.1 Sense 6. Rooted completely stock. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

PS. I tried clearing Google play services cache, the symbol disappeared but reappeared after opening Google settings. Uninstall updates button is inactive. Sorry that was meant to be edit but I pressed the wrong button in the app
Problem solved. It was MSN account on gmail app. After removing the account, the constant syncing stopped
Hi guys,
I am having a problem with the Google Play Service CheckInService wakelock. It is draining my phone's battery quickly while the screen is off. I disabled location and Google Location Reporting but it did not help. Someone suggested an app called Wakelock Terminator but it is not available anymore. I tried disabling the wakelock for all of Google Play Services but it caused the app to constantly crash.
Any help would be appreciated.

What I would do is back up and uninstall all the user installed apps that ask for location access to see if the wakelock disappears, then restore them one after the other. It might be a third party app trying to use the check-in services even though you blocked it?

The only apps I saw trying to use location are google and google play services. I had turned off location but it still happened whether or not location was on

Could it be an app that tries to use location, even though it's blocked? Tries over and over again?
You got tibu or something similar? Backup and uninstall everything and see if it helps (since you, understandably, seem desperate).
Hi, I have GPS disabled but i have everytime in processes the GoogleLocationService and GoogleLocationManagerService always activated, my battery life is really bad (2h/2h30m sot). I tried stock Lollipop, CM12.1 and MM, everytime i had the same issues. Also, in stock Lollipop and stock Marshmallow i have big battery drain from Whatsapp (sometimes about 40-45%). I really love my G4 but i cant charge it 2 times per day
Try a going on safe mode for a full battery day(100 to 0%) if your battery is going better try to delet what's app or just reinstall it
What else might cause the GoogleLocationService to continuously run to provide location information constantly?
Any Google app, download AppOps and it just let you chose what app can use location (it should reduce it).
I have App Ops and i've disabled location for all things but still location activated, about WhatsApp it seems that it doesnt give any problem now. If it can help, i write a list of my installed apps:
AdAway
Facebook
Facebook Messenger
WhatsApp
Hearthstone
Twitch
Quick Boot
Youtube
Google Play Services
Google Play Store
Instagram
Root Explorer
Also there are stock cm12.1 apps (i only removed cLock)
Did you try reinstalling the Google location service?
Do you mean the play Services? Yes, i reinstalled like 4 roms. Also i have the same problem with my second phone, a Moto G 4G 2013, i have pretty much the same apps on it...maybe it's a configuration?
Probably when you configure your phone for the first time you press the Google play location (without knowing)
Impossible, i always disable it in the first configuration as i don't really need gps
What happens when you switch off the location
If i interrupt both location services they just restart by themselves
Is your Google map timeline features enable
No
Try booting until safe mode, disable your location and tell me after what happens
I give it a try, but still location activated. I Also tried to enable it and disable again, still no changes :/
You could try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Sent from my VS986 using XDA Free mobile app
Yea i did the same thing with system tuner, but i don't want to disable it in this way. Location services are not supposed to be enabled with gps disabled
