Could this also be the reason why my Tab Pro 10.1 is soft rebooting all the time? I did disable Knox I think.

Yes it is, noticed the same after I disabled Knox. After reinstall firmware, root and this time left Knox alone, all is okay.

Same issue with Tab 12.2
I would like to try the fix suggested here, but I think I am a bit thick! I have chainfire's Superuser pro installed, but I can't find any reference to the knox counter, or any options for choices. What am I missing? Please help, my device reboots, every time I wake it from sleep mode.

I had to reflash the stock ROM via Odin and then reroot in order to get the prompt for disabling Knox. Then I just cancelled it. Now my tablet works fine. No reboots so far for the last few days.

Any suggestions!

I reflashed stock, then rerooted but at no point did I get and options or reference to KNOX. My KNOX counter is already tripped but I believe yours would be as well. I have tried probably 5 times changing superuser setting before reflashing but nothing changes. Before rooting I wipe cache partition so is there anything else I need to do to get Superuser to prompt the KNOX disable? When I boot into stock recovery I have the little green android and it has a red exclamation mark, is this normal?
Thanks

I usually get a prompt to update and then it usually prompts for Knox. If not, try opening your SuperSu app and see if it prompts you to disable Knox. If it does, then click no. That's the only thing I can think of.

No Luck!

I am still working on this issue, but I am running out of things to try. Could it be that I installed su as a system app, or anything to do with triangle away? I can't seem to uninstall su. Can anyone help with that as, possibly that is my problem? Does chainfire help with issues surrounding su? My tablet does not random reboot until I root!

Can you post, step by step, how you reflashed, including what programs (version of Odin) and the files (which ROM zip, which chainfire zip, which TWRP) you used? Then i'll cross-reference with what I did and see if there are any differences and let you know. That's the only thing I can think of at this point to try and help you.

You can do it with Kies 3.
Make sure you have the box or serial number on hand.
ALL DATA WILL BE WIPED DURING THE PROCESS!!!!!
enter download mode, open Kies 3, and connect the tablet
Tools-firmware upgrade and initialization
Enter model number and serial number
Kies 3 will download and flash the tablet with factory ROM. The process can take an hour.
After initial setup, turn off the tablet and enter download mode again
Run CF-auto root with included ROM and Odin
After the tablet restarted, run superSU and hit cancel when you're prompted to disable KNOX.

I wish!

I tried your suggestion but I am not having any luck. I downloaded and installed the latest version of kies, then upgraded it as suggested. Tablet connects fine and I can transfer files or Backup or browse he tablet. But when I choose upgrade and initialisation. Enter the model and S/N, connect the tablet in download mode, I get a message that the tablet in not compatible with this version of Kies. Then directs me to website to get the correct version. But because I am in Belize, the website is Spanish and I don't speak the language, so I am stuck. Can I just go a head and reset the tablet to factory , then reroot and disable knox then? ( I did verify from Samsung customer service that I did have the correct version of Kies installed!)

I tried Kies 3 from your link, no go, same message. Tried Backup/ Hard reset/ install SU from ps/ Voila! finally got the option for knox in su . Doesn't reboot any longer. So I am happy. I do have another question, even after doing 4 different kind of backups, Google account/Samsung account/backup suite/kies, I still basically had to setup from scratch and ended up losing all my game credits and all my open vpn/tunnel/surveillance/Pandora/Pandora settings. I also did a Mybackup Pro complete
and when I tried to restore I received a message that it did not exsist, what is the procedure for performing a complete backup that restores your device back to previously setup! Obviously, I haven't got it yet!

This is what root meant for.
You can use Titanium Backup (root required) to completely backup/restore app, or, if you're brave enough, use Root Explorer to copy and paste related app data in /data/data (root required too).

Does yours flicker a little before restarting? Mines does. This problem has happend for me ever since I first rooted this thing.

I had the same situation!
Use Kies:
Tools > Emergency Firmware Restore
and wait for it
It will download around 700mb and flash your device with stock firmware, and all needed files.

I am in a similar situation where Kies does not recognize my device so I am downloading the stock firmware and will use Odin to see if that works.
galaxy tab 3 8.0
I was deleting applications on my tablet the other night and i accidentally deleted the os. i have used kies, and kies 3 to try to do a firmware recovery, but, it did not work. i dont know what to do and i would really like some help haha. any tips??
^^^^^^ like he said ^^^^^^^
Go to SamMibile, find your device, choose your country and download. then flash through Odin. Sam Mobile even gives you a link to that.
can you shut the device down (hold the power button for a really long time)? if not let the battery die, then fully charge it. Then enter download mode (press and hold volume down, home and power button at the same time) then when it says to, volume up.
Once in download mode you should be able to use Odin to flash your stock firmware
I have my Tab 3 in download mode "Downloading" Screen, and tried Odin and Kies and cannot connect. What version did you use to connect? Thanks for your help.

If you have an SM-N900T, you don't have reactivation lock as far as I know. I couldnt find the option in mine, so I went ahead without it. I think its in the International version.
i have downloaded odin 3.7 and CF-Auto-Root-hltetmo-hltetmo-smn900t.tar.md5 file fofor rooting. the first time tt said pass but on my phonne on the top I had 3 messages in different colors saying something about warranty, and a couple other things. It had the not 3 logo on the phone but it never rebooted like its supposed to. I tried restarting it but it went back to the same thing. if some one who knows how to so this could you please lead me to the correct files i need to root this thing. I have never had so much problems rooting a phone in my life. I am still on version 4.3 and I would really appreciate some help. Thanks

Try Odin flashing the CF-AutoRoot TAR file again, it should work fine,
and welcome to the very exclusive KNOX club. LOL
After flashing with odin you need to flash custom recovery like twrp or cwm.
Good luck!

Sorry, I forgot the s2 does not have fastboot mode. You should download the stock rom zip and gapps onto your SD card. Then factory reset. Install the stock rom and gapps. Then factory reset again. Make sure you have the proper rom. I've had bootloops like you when trying to install certain roms. Currently my wife's s2 t989 is running cm 10.1.2 with no problems. Cm 10.2 would cause bootloops. If you are getting to the Samsung logo your phone is not bricked, so don't worry. We just have to figure out what's going wrong with your install process. Let me know what happens.
Did you flash a custom recovery? And if so which one? This will be needed before flashing roms.

the way I'm working is THE FOLLOWING:
First, I have samsung drivers installed on my notebook and the phone is recognized.
Second, open the odin program, and on the phone I press vol +, vol + and connect the USB cable, the phone starts in download mode ...
third, odin in pda select rom with. tar.md5, I remove the selection to "re-partition" (sometimes I leave selected)
Fourth, I start ...
wait a while, the installation goes well (I sometimes appears "fail") but usually completes the installation, the phone restarts (odin says that ended with "pass") once it restarts in case of using a rom T-Mobile, the logo appears on the screen, shuts down or restarts ... and no more lights, again only shows the samsung logo and restart every two seconds about ...
I guess I'm doing the procedure well, do not know if anything else can fail ...
I do not know if it's possible to "format" the phone, leave it completely to zero and see if that way I can mount a rom ... by the way, a couple of the rom I downloaded from sammmobile.com so I think that should be the corresponding ...
I hope someone can help me please ...
respect to recovery, well this phone apparently was installed a wrong rom, had no recovery, I try to install the cwm apparently installed fine, but when trying to enter the recovery, as it appears again, the phone restarts just what mentioned earlier
Did you preform a NANDROID backup before flashing?
If not you probably will have to install KIES and firmware upgrade from there. I had to do this a few times with bad roms/recoveries.
You can try CMinstaller (easiest way to flash rom), but unless you enabled usb debugging, it may not work...

This is the only thing that I can think of that may work. I've done this a few times.
Download and install Samsung Kies on your computer if you do not have it already installed on it.
Note down your phone’s Serial number somewhere. You can find it under the battery of your device or the box your brand new device came with.
Launch Kies and click Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
Connect your device to computer using USB cable.
Enter your device model name in all CAPS (GT-I9500, for example) and click on OK.
Then you will be asked to enter the Serial Number of your device.
Once again, select OK on the next screen.
Doing this will force Kies to download the require firmware update files for your device.
Respond and confirm all securities warnings to clear the way for emergency firmware installation and then select Start Upgrade.samsung-firmware-restore
Kies will now start downloading firmware files and the process might take several minutes depending or data connection speed.
When it is finished, new firmware will be installed on your device and you will see: samsung-firmware-restore-complete
Click on OK and disconnect the cable.
Reboot your device and done!

When it is finished, new firmware will be installed on your device and you will see: samsung-firmware-restore-complete
Click on OK and disconnect the cable.
Reboot your device and done!

It seems that way. But maybe someone else here knows how to go about fixing it. The only thing that leads me to believe it is dead, is that you can't boot into recovery even after Odin.
If anyone can figure out a fix, please share, I'm a bit curious...

I just want to confirm your method for entering recovery. With the phone off and not plugged in you hold down both volume buttons and the power button. When the phone vibrates release the power button, and continue to hold down both volume buttons. Do not release volume buttons until the phone boots into recovery. This is what you are doing? I just want to cover the simple things before asking you to try more in depth possible solutions.
Check out this thread about faulty/dirty power buttons.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310
you flashed with a nearly dead battery? I always charge mine to 100%. I've had issues where my phone won't boot up properly like what yours is doing when the battery hits 0%.
I'd plug it in and leave it for half an hour or so and see if it boots then. Let it charge to 100% and then put on either CWM or TWRP (I've had better luck with TWRP personally) and flash your ROM from there.
I've never had luck flashing anything but recovery and stock from Odin. Other things seemed to be a little flaky.
Also, since this is in the T989 forum, I'm presuming you have the T989 which I believe the recovery buttons are vol+ and power not both (but I could be wrong).
Once other thing you could try is grab a copy of the android SDK (specifically ADB) and run:
adb logcat > boot.log
and post the file it creates (called boot.log). Also, try running:
adb reboot recovery
to see if you can get into recovery mode. I THINK (but have never tried) that ADB should work from download mode. Try booting into download mode and running adb reboot recovery to see if that helps.
That is my best guess anyways.

Rooted sprint s6 stuck in boot loop mode ( usb can't be recognized by windows 8.1)

please help me!! clearly i am more of a noob than I thought I was!
I rooted my phone using Odin a few months ago. Then it just crapped out on me. Now it is stuck in a boot loop mode. I can get it to recovery mood and download mode. I have tried wiping the cache partition and done the factory rest. That isn't the issue. The issue is that when I have Odin open the phone isn't being recognized. it keeps saying "USB device not recognized. the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". I have tried reinstalling the drivers for my Sprint S6. I have also updated the media package for my windows 8.1. But it still isn't recognizing the phone. I also tried un instaling and reinstalling. I have smart switch but still nothing. I am not entirely sure how to fix this. Please Help!! Also, in the top left hand corner where it says "kernal is not seandriod enforcing. custom binary blocked by frp lock"
I've exhausted everything best to my knowledge. I appreciate all the help I can get from you experts. Thank all in advance from this tech noob!

Geez... that sucks, and disappointing no one has replied yet.
I hate to reply with a few of the obvious tricks- but it has happened multiple times to me that my phone won't be recognized by ODIN (or anything other than as "charging"). Usually this is solved by switching to other USB ports, and plugging-unplugging a few times, but when that fails (which it does not infrequently)- I have gotten lucky by not just restarting my computer, but actually turning it off, waiting a moment and turning it back on.
Magically sometimes that does it.
Hope that works for you, and that others more senior weigh in on this :good:
I second what spammy said.
I just spent 6 hours fixing my Sprint s6. I got it domestic unlocked and somehow near-bricked it, and then got the dreaded usb not recognized message. Shutting my laptop all the way down and letting it sit a few minutes did the trick and I was able to use Odin afterwards.
update!!
so, i got it to connect by just lifting the tongue a little. It connected to Odin. I tried to flash it using the TAR file but it keeps saying failed. Can anyone tell me why it says "custom binary blocked by frp lock" and how to fix that ? I know I have to connect it to samsung online or something but the phone is stuck in boot loop mode so I cant really do much. Like I said before I tried to flash with the 5.0.2 TAR file and ended up with the following message at the top left and corner in red and black highlight "SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 2. BINARY: 1" what does this mean? is there a fix? and how do I fix it? my phone is already factory rest and I lost everything so I am not concerned about that as long as I can get it to turn back on. Please help me.

Where you previously on 5.1.1? If so I hear downgrading causes problems. Download a more recent tar.
Mine is 5.1.1 OL1 modem.
I'm betting that is your problem.

Sounds like your USB is a bit out of wack. You need to make sure that the PC you are using is finding the device properly, loading the drivers, and allowing you to access the internal storage. Just go to "My Computer" on your PC and your device should show up and allow you to access it. Otherwise trying to use Odin will be a waste of your time.
Once you have that Odin should find it no problem. However, if your microUSB on the device is acting intermittent and you start flashing in Odin and it disconnects for a sec there will be issues. You don't want an interrupt during the flash.
If you can do all this go to this link and download Odin 3.10.6 and the OJ7 tar file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/general/how-to-to-100-stock-root-t3075448
Don't use previous version of Odin as they are confirmed to have issues flashing some tar files on the S6. If it doesn't work try doing another factory reset through stock recovery and try again.
Report back your findings to continue troubleshooting if needed.
Thank you! progress/update

so, i downloaded the 5.1.1 Tar file progress is that I am going to flash it. I have been using the most updated version of Odin (3.10.7) could that be causing the issue? the phone stays connected while its flashing in Odin. Once it is connected I dont mess with it? Also, please answer me if I am able to fix this issue and will i be able to get my phone booted?

I have not used the 3.10.7 version yet but should not be a problem.
Download the tar file, connect the device and make sure Odin shows the device as connected/ready, hit the AP button and select your tar file, then flash and let finish. Then it will reboot automatically and boot up normally.
Try this and post your findings.

My Galaxy Note S Dual SM-N930FD hard brick, please help!

I installed TWRP on my note 7 then format everything and after that my note 7 does not turning on. Just stuck on Samsung Logo. I am trying to flash with stock ROM by ODIN but always failed to install the stock rom on note 7.
After formatting every thing my Recovery (TWRP) also go. there is no recovery on my Note 7. I am just able to enter download mode. I can not able to enter recovery mod. I am trying to install rom, twrp, pit file by odin but all are failed by odin.
last night I tried by smart switch also. I have download the whole data by smart switch. even I have download tree times the whole process of smart switch but after downloading the big file smart switch said can not communicate with my note 7. Though odin can communicate with my note 7 but smart switch can not able to communicate with my note 7
Add all your files in Odin (AP/BL/CSC etc etc) and under the options tab check update bootloader and press start. As soon as you press start hold down Home + VolDown so if it fails you go back into download mode straight away. As soon as you re-enter download mode click start in odin. Repeat until it succeeds. It took me 4 tries. Also make sure you're flashing the correct firmware. I used samfirm to download it. Good luck.
Edit: i didn't use pit file.

I think you're gonna have to use sideload (ADB) to get your phone up and running again. There are a number of instruction guides
here on xda to guide you through the process. Also youtube has a number of instruction videos on how to sideload the necessary
files to get your phone up and running. Finally, be very careful when using the formatting feature in TWRP, make sure that you fully
understand what you're doing. As you've learned you can get into serious trouble tinkering with functions that you don't fully understand.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll have your phone back up and running soon
I appreciate you sir! Obviously I will let you know first if I could manage to unbrick my note 7.

Did you do it quickly over and over again as fast as you can? I dunno if that's what helped me but I had a similar issue.
Edit: Solved? Awesome
