[Q] Q: How to fix Galaxy Note 3 8.0 Screen Spots? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I repaired a cracked screen only to find these big white spots on the screen. Can this be repaired or is it replacement time? If it can be fixed any advice would be greatly appreciated. I attached a photo that shows the spots on the charging screen. The spots occur no matter what your doing and can also be seen when the tablet is powered off.
Thanks

please help

Blur Screen

Hey XDA Users,
So yesterday I dropped my phone and it fell vertically top first and when I picked it up nothing was broken luckily. However, when I turn the screen it comes out blurry. Anyone, has any idea how to fix this? I'm sure is a hardware issue since i have tried everything in the software department.
I would really appreciate any suggestions, like I said before nothing is broken. I can call, send msg, browse the internet, listen to music. Everything is ok other than the clarity of the screen.
thank you guys in advance for any suggestions or possible solutions. :good::good::good:

I have tried that but the SS comes out clear crystal and I have tried to take a picture but the camera is not able to capture the blurriness of the screen. But I will continue trying to see what I can do to show the problem.
I have taken a video and some SS from that so you guys can see what happens when I turn on the screen. As you may notice it get several black lines as soon as I turn on the screen but it goes back to normal after a 1 sec or so (normal, I mean without black lines) but the blurriness doesn't go away.
thank you in advance to any reply.

I have been looking all around Amazon and eBay and I can't see to find just the Digitizer. I keep finding this item over and over "LCD touch screen digitizer front glass"??? Is this it?
thank you very much for your replies.
It may not be the digitizer or lcd. I had a s2 with the same problem of streaking lines so I order a lcd with digitizer when I replace the new one the same problem persisted so I suggest u check first b4 wasting yr money. Goodluck cheers

[Q] What's broken in this situation?

Recently, I took time to replace the screen on my s3. (Just the Screen not the digitizer). After I attached the newer screen, I turned the phone on, theres sound, vibration, etc. But the display is not shown at all. Is it the digitizer that broke? Is it something else that broke?
P.S While I was removing the cracked screen, i accidentally turned on the phone when i was using the s3 phone kit (which was pretty useless imo). Could this have played a role?
Any help is appreciated.
Since the digitizer and lcd are separate parts, a broken digitizer should not cause a blank screen. I have replaced the digitizer on a couple of Samsung phones and the lcd always displayed an image but would not respond to any touches.
Is it possible the lcd is defective?

Sorry for the late response, I was just able to check the forums recently. The lcd was brand new. How would I be able to tell if it would be defective or not? I'll post pictures if necessary.

If you can see an image on the screen, the LCD is not defective. If you can see an image but it doesn't respond to touches, the digitizer could be defective, the phone's motherboard is defective, there is a bad connection between the digitizer and motherboard, or all three.

Does that mean, that I need to buy another screen and test it out? I can't really test out the other parts you were talking about because, the screen does not display any image at all.
Since you can't see an image, it could be the LCD. Is there a repair shop where you could askl them to test your LCD?

I think there is one nearby. Would I need to pay for it to be tested? I don't know if it's still worth getting my S3 fixed because my relative is going to give his note 3 to me since the S5 is supposed to be revealed soon.
I would double and triple check that all ribbon cables and connectors are 100% properly attached / connected before replacing anything else....

I only replaced the screen and didn't touch anything else. I used the tutorials on youtube for guidance, but sadly it didn't work the way i hoped.

LCD screen issue

I've quite recently replaced the screen on my device yet the same issue in the images occurred as when it first went. I left it off for a couple of days. Turned it back on and is working again however there are very fine Black horizontal lines through the screen and the back light dims and brightens when using the touch screen. Any help is greatly appreciated

I assume you reflashed your phone the first time (loaded a fresh ROM). If so, it might be an issue with the screen. I know you already replaced it, but the issue might be with the screen connector cable.

All sorted. It was not only the screen but the flexi-cable ribbon. it was quite worn so I purchased another piece for it and hey presto. its all working. well...apart from the fact ive somehow broken the power switch so need to get a replacement for that somehow. fortunately i have the bugged recovery so i can boot my phone by plugging it into a charge cable to get it to boot.

Dropped Note 2. Display blank

Hi,
I dropped my note 2 and the display is blank after that. The motherboard is fine. The phone is booting up and the phone rings when someone calls.
However, even the touch functionality is not working on the blank screen.
So, what do you guys think, just a digitizer replacement will work? or do you think it might need a full LCD assembly replacement. If latter is the case, I might as well dump this phone as its almost End of life.
thanks,
Hi Guys, i am also facing the same problem. The phone was dropped and after an hour the screen started turning blue and within few hours the whole screen went dark blue ( or nearly black). The phone is still switching on and the bottom and side buttons are working but screen is black.
Do i need to replace the screen only or the whole display kit as asked in the first post?
Also i want to take backup of all my contacts, sms, whatsapp messages and other stuff. Is there any way i can do this when there is no display on the screen? Need a solution on urgent basis.
Thanks in advance

Display fix Sprint Galaxy S III help!!

So I just got this phone from one of my friends, and it's off the grid so no data is being used. Anyways, I go to turn it on and I can still interact with the screen as if it was perfectly fine. But there's one small problem....the display won't show at all. It's just a black screen, but I can still touch the screen and interact with the phone as if it was fine. The screen is cracked, but there's just one crack in it and that's it.
This phone is a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III SPH-L710
Plz help! Thx

You could always open it up and make sure the ribbon cable attaching the screen to the board is connected, maybe unplug it from the board, clean the contacts, and reseat the plug
