What equalizer you guys use on the note4? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

I used to have viper4android on my last device, such a great app but since we have no root on this device the only nice eq I'd embedded on poweramp. I got the beats music app but the junk has no eq in it, any nice breathtaking eqs out there?

I use this one... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer
It never worked on my Note 3, so I was shocked when I accidentally downloaded it, and it works on my Note 4! I use it in conjunction with PowerAmp and it also works with PlayerPro.

The one Samsung provides on the phone is awesome. Using it in conjunction with Spotify, works flawlessly.

Shhh, don't tell anyone that. Even if it works great (which it does), people will want to use anything other than stock just to be different. Using stock apps make some people here feel like they aren't part of the in crowd. It's actually pretty funny how far some people will go to do anything other than stock just to do it without even knowing why.

Stupid noob question which I should know the answer to: does the Samsung equalizer affect all apps across the board? Will it change the output from Youtube for example? I really want a native equalizer.

No I haven't, but I will check it out!

I'm really disappointed with the output of this phone. I feel like it's a little weak for larger headphones and it's just a little too quiet for my tastes. I'm using the Poweramp eq. I guess I'll try some others.
I really miss the DAC tuning and V4A from my Note 2.

Wow, from the screenshots that looks quite terrible. It looks like it colors the sound way too much and just adds noise and volume to the lower 60hz of the spectrum through artificial means. I guess that means I will stay away from this like the plague.

Bravia I knew was stupid. I would've thought the decent Samsung sound quality would deter people from using Beats since it's essentially an equalizer that sounds too artificial for me.
There was too much blind emphasis of Beats over on any HTC dual core devices and I hope most of the devs stay away from this.
Plus this:
supercurio said:
Audio is something special.
When you say there is an improvement, people tend to listen closer and perceive something different even if it doesn't exist.
That's called placebo.
All I'm asking is intellectual honesty in order to not abuse of this many times proven fact.
I also think placebo-mods are affecting negatively everyone's work and also the confidence XDA users have in developers.
The solution is simple: It improves audio? That can be measured then!
If you can't measure it, it means it does nothing.
Me, I measured, Galaxy S II. found it wasn't working. It's not an opinion or a critic. It's a fact.

Dunno why people think beats is anything.........they make horrible headphones and even worse software. It's a gimmick for the most part. The hardware inside our phones for audio is made by Yamaha and they know whats up with sound. Get some better cans & poweramp to unlock the real audio power of our device.

[Q] Can I make the speaker louder?

Hello,
Just got my GN and it's amazing! I used to have a dumb phone (I like to call it a retarded phone) and it's one helluva upgrade. That being said, when I'm watching videos or playing music, the speakers aren't as loud as I expected them to be. Do you guys know of any apps (I'm not rooted currently) that could potentially help this?
On a similar note, I heard that the Beats audio software had been extracted to run on any phone...is this true? I mean I assumed the phones marketed with Beats audio may have had a better DAC.
Anyway, thanks in advance to everyone.

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a way to do it without rooting it? Not that I have anything against rooting it. But I'd like to keep it stock for a little while longer so I have a better subjective benchmarks when I work my way through custom ROM's

It was recommended that you install a custom ROM to use the app but I haven't had any issues on stock.

like the guy above me said, it might work without root, but stock changing the volume isnt as effective as like a kernel hack or a rooted rom so apps can gain access to system, files

Install volume+ or personally i think equalizer by smarter apps is better. Max out each band on the eq by scrolling to the right, and you can double your volume. Careful not to blow your speaker.
Root is not needed.
Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate the advice. I'll try these out and then report back.
Just tried Equalizer. Works great. Thanks.

Newer devices have advances that play well with the newer OS systems that are available so in my view retro versions may not work as well with some of the more advanced designs in the device thingy.
That said I feel the volume is plenty loud and in fact sounds really good. This is without a doubt the best 7" tablet available at this time. The Nexus 10 is the best 10" tablet available at this time, yes better than the apple products. The audio is better and the screens are better and you can set it up as you please a more mature attitude from the manufacturer if you will. Less hand holding, less paternalistic access to your device.
I bought mine at Office Max with the 20% discount, I felt that the price was almost unbelievable and was surprised when they had some left in stock.
I would like more memory 64GB would be nice but I rooted it and use stick mount to run videos and move files.

Hi:
You might want to try these JBL Bluetooth speakers--they are loud:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009AYLDSU/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As for Korean apps, you might try backing up the apk files and installing them. I know that Google says many of my Chinese apps are incompatible but they all work. Worth a try.
Let us know if you find a work around with bluetooth headphones, apps or anything else that works. It's going to be a rocky road with Bluetooth and 4.3. Many Bluetooth keyboards and some headphones don't work with 4.3. I'm reluctant to order anything Bluetooth without confirmation from others that it works with 4.3
I ordered some LG Bluetooth headphones in June. They worked with the Nexus 7 2012 but only played 1/4 volume on my Galaxy S3 so I returned them.
Keep us posted.
Tom
My sound on the headphones is good/decent. At about 1/2 volume is comfortable to me.
I'm not much of an audiophile so I don't know how impedance effects the volume. It's not extremely loud at max volume, though. I'd probably still be able to hear my music while on the lawn mower or on my motorbike but not sure about a jet plane ^^
Speakers at max volume is fine for a quiet room, but outside it probably won't be very loud.
Hope this helped some.

Just confirming that my bluetooth keyboard (made by Anker for ~$25 on Amazon) works.
I just paired it and this is the first thing I've typed. Seems to do well. I can even alt-tab to other stuff running. Sweet.
Also just connected my bluetooth apple mightymouse (or whatever they're called) and that's working as well (at the same time as the keyboard)

Thank you for your valueable opinion.
To me, I'm very satisfied with another features and there was no intend to diminish Google or Nexus.
And I'm very proud of having brand-new nexus which have the sharpest screen among the world.
What I want to say is Nexus 7's audio quality is quite good but volume is low, lower than how I expected.
Within my experience, commonly, tablets usually make more powerful sound than phone but my Nexus 7 doesn't.
It seems to have simmilar power with phones. I just feel sad about that.

Thank you for attention.
Bluetooth is great and easy protocol for sharing small files or connect simple devices, but it is not so good for audio.
Nexus 7 doesn't support apt-x, so bluetooth will impair Nexus 7's quite good quality sound.
At this time I have no bluetooth device so I cannnot find which one works, which one doesn't.
Sorry for bad answer.

In fact I doubted my Nexus is a normal or not.
Thanks, thanks again.
Speakers are really loud. Comparable to my sons Samsung Tab and much much louder then the first gen.
As for apps, just because some apps haven't been given the green flag for 4.3 doesn't mean I won't work. I've sideloaded tons of apps that work fine.
Nothing really different between 4.3 and 4.2 cosmetically. You shouldnt want to downgrade just because a few devs haven't updated yet.

You would have to find a ROM that boost the volume. Just going to 4.2.2 wont increase your volume. I've been playing around with some stuff to boost volume and hopefully will have a mod out soon for it
But player is right...the diff between 4.2 and 4.3 are min. They did make a lot of battery saving tweaks, BT stack tweaks and other hardware tweaks but its more hardware related then os related

There see module files that don't have the proper necessary coding. I'm trying to figure something out. I understand your pain, I have sennheiser ie8s and they sound crappy compared to my tablet. Viper4 android is supposed to be really good, but personally volume+ sound boost (version 1.8) from the market was and still is my choice for audio improvement.

It's a shame that Samsung elected to not include the Wolfson DAC in the Snapdragon-based S4 models, and it seems we'll always be limited by that. I use Player Pro with DSP Pack, which gives a full 10-band EQ. This helps for carefully boosting the low-end on my Etymotic in-ears, which is their main drawback.
