I plugged in an OTG cable and USB stick. The tab said USB storage was found but in fact it did not see the USB stick nor what was on it. So, no OTG support for the stock ROM?
OTG works!
Seemingly your stick uses unsupported format.
Thanks

Why I use OTG after you connect the USB flash drive, USB disk could not be found in the phone directory?
USB Host (or USB OTG, On The GO) is a documented feature in the manual but it does not appear to work. Someone figured out how to eneable it if you are rooted but I can't find the thread.
USB Host is working with stock 4.0.2. However, this is only for things such as mice and keyboards. If you want to access USB storage, root your device and install Stickmount from the market.
I can confirm that my GN GSM with the stock 4.0.1 rom doesn't recognize my keyboard and mouse using an OTG USB cable. A bluetooth keyboard does work however.
you need a true OTG cable, root and stickroot from the market. Also sometimes a custom rom, but usually not.
This is my setup and i've tested a usb microsd reader, 4 and 8gb flash drives, 2 mice and a usb keyboard.
Like I said, USB host was enabled by Google in 4.0.2. If you have an earlier firmware version, it won't work without a custom kernel.
Google did not however provide the ability to access USB mass storage. To do this you'll have to root your Nexus and install Stickmount.
Hi all,
I just received my OTG cable and I'm trying to get my USB stick working with it. I've tested both USB sticks and a USB mouse. The Mouse works fine and the USB stick is recognized and mounted but I cannot see any files on it.
What formats is the default (rooted) i989 (Telus S2X) setup to read?

FAT and FAT32 Formats
I have a 128gb USB stick - pre-formatted as FAT32 - which works fine in any PC. However when plugged into the Note II via OTG cable, it comes up as 'damaged USB storage' & I can't access it.
I have seen reference to a workaround on other devices so that devices can correctly recognise the storage. Has anyone managed to find a fix on the Note II?
Been trying to mount a usb hard disk and usb stick but no luck.
Are you using a compatible kernel? With a OTG Y Cable?

Using FAK kernel 1.3.6 and yes using Y cable, usb hub, keyboard, mouse, gamepad all working.
I'm also forced to reboot after using otg else I cannot charge or access files on the phone.
Does that mean you can now access your USB storage devices?

No - other devices work fine. but not usb storage devices.
Even rebooting does not allow me to access or mount usb storage devices.
If i have a usb storage device connected and I reboot some random apps disappear... until I disconnect otg and reboot again.
I have usb pendrive 2.0/3.0 ntfs system and not work via otg, any idea?
I am not root.
hi to all.
solved! rooting tab
