I bought I9082 from China Unicom (which I believe is firmware locked).
I tried to upgrade the firmware manually through ODIN.
But in ODIN it stops at setup connection
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection
<ID:0/006> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Then I rooted with CWM and loaded Custom ROM.
Later I upgraded a custom rom - XXAMD6 on baseband ZNMAMB3.
But the problem now is Radio is switched off. So the mobile is not active.
When I try to make a call it says Flight mode is activated. But really flight mode is switched off.
I am able to receive calls and messages
Do you have any solution for this.
Does this mean the firmware is locked?
Any possibility that I can revert back to original stock ROM I9082ZNAMB3
I have this stock ROM downloaded but could not load this through ODIN (seems there is some lock since it stops at setup connection in ODIN).
Any possibility that this stock ROM can loaded through CWM?
My phone is kind of half-bricked since I couldn't make any call also not able to upgrade.
Please give me solution.

you may experience "no service " after rom installation here is what u do to get it back...
its a modem compatibility issue in between different firmwares
download the file from http://www.mediafire.com/?avjo48kvgz517z5 or http://d-h.st/7O8 NEW MODEM LINK
put ur mobile in download mode VOLUME DOWN + MENU + POWER then VOLUME UP to continue
connect to pc
(ur kies should not be runing... proper drivers should be installed)
start odin3 v3.04 . u should see the blue comxx as phone is connected
autoreboot and reset time should be selected.
click in PDA . select the modem.amc8.tar
click start...wait....u get pass confirmation..phone may boot into recovery just reboot.
JUST leave the feedback on this... it worked for me....so it may work for all of u.
Hi, I could not download any file through Odin. I tried pushing the modem file already. Do you think there is any firmware lock?
During setup connection it stays for long time and then it says failed.
Any modem MOD file to push through ClockworkMod I can try.

Any solution to unlock this carrier locked phone without buying the unlock tools?
mr_coimbatore, I'm having exactly the same problem with a China Unicom I9082 here in Shanghai. Sadly I still haven't been able to find a solution, after weeks of searching.
It's actually a friend's phone, he bought it because he wanted a dual SIM Android handset, though foolishly bought it straight from Unicom rather than from an electronics market. I told him I'd get rid of the China Unicom firmware for him as it is obviously crippled by design like all Chinese Android stock ROMs. I've managed to install k2wl's Ultralite ROM on the handset but I'm facing the same issue as you - the baseband remains untouched from the one that was on the original ROM (I9082ZNAMB3), but it's stuck in flight mode. Can receive calls/texts, cannot make them.
The big clue that there is some kind of lock in place is the fact that one of the original Chinese logos still appears on boot. Flashing a custom ROM should remove all the stock boot logos.
I get exactly the same error when trying to update the baseband with Odin (I tried several basebands and all had exactly the same error as the one you quoted in your first post), so it seems that what we have here is a baseband lock combined with an incompatibility between the existing baseband and the custom ROM (or, more likely, any ROM that isn't the stock ROM provided by China Unicom). If we can remove the baseband lock and update the baseband to one that is compatible with the custom ROM, we should be in business. Sadly, that's as far as I've got.
The annoying thing is that the SIM cards being used on the phone are both China Unicom, so it's not as if I even need the phone to be factory unlocked for use on any network - I simply need it to be able to make outgoing calls/texts on Unicom!
I have seen sites offering an unlock service by IMEI, for example unlocksamsungonline.com, who claim to provide both NCK (network unlock codes) and SPCK (service provider unlock codes), which seem to be what we need in order to unlock the phone without expensive equipment.
However, I have no idea how genuine/reliable these kinds of sites are or if they even work at all (or if they're even legitimate at all), and I'd rather not spend $18.95 USD on an unlock code that doesn't end up working. Also, given that it's a dual SIM phone it's going to have 2 IMEI numbers, so I'm not sure if I'd have to pay double to unlock it or if just one would do the trick!
I've not yet had the time to take the phone to an electronics market in the hope that somebody there understands the issue and has the equipment to remove the baseband lock. In almost all of my previous experiences with electronic markets here in Shanghai, I've found that their hardware knowledge is fantastic (not surprising given that the phones are made in China), but their software knowledge is generally quite poor. I actually spent almost an hour one day explaining to an iPhone engineer that he could in fact upgrade an iPhone's software while preserving an (unlockable) baseband, simply by making a custom ISPW with Pwnagetool or similar that would flash the new firmware without flashing the baseband. He and several of his coworkers claimed that it was impossible, and when I showed them my iPhone that was running the updated iOS while still on an old baseband, until I managed to explain the entire process he thought I had hacked the phone somehow to display a different baseband version... the whole experience was incredibly frustrating and to be honest has left me thinking that I can probably find out more online whenever I've had any kind of software issues with any devices.
Anyway. If you happen to have some success before I do, please let me know! I'll do the same.

Hi, Yes I found the solution.
Thanks to tonylin880806 who provided me some links.
I am in Shanghai as well. I took my phone to electronics markets in Xujiahui and Zhangyang Road. In both places, every one said they cannot do anything. The reason may be they don't know or do not want to take any risk or bricking the phone.
Also I went to Samsung service center, they said I have void my warranty. I asked them only to restore the original firmware. But he said the only option is to change the CPU and that will cost more money. I asked for alternate options and he said no.
Then, I re-explored the posts asked if Tony has send me an option
At first, you should upgrade ZNAMB3 to ZNAMD1 with Odin. ZNAMD1 is the office OTA upgrade for ZNAMB3 sent by Samsung.
You can use below link for ZNAMD1 : http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shar...&uk=3590848074
to download ZNAMD1 which is official and push this through Odin.
So now you will be back with your original firmware without google account.
After this, you can root the phone with CWM.
Then you can load any compatible custom ROMs. But you should note that our handsets cannot load firmwares of all countries. Might be they are firmware locked or modem not compatible for other region firmwares.
I have loaded below custom ROM which is very similar to original firmware with google account. This is really good.
ZNAMD1_rc2 - http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=517042&uk=2030731697
Also, in this your memory card is swapped with internal memory and have chrome browser. USB OTG is missing.
Only problem I face is, when I install google talk apk there is some problem. Whenever I get an incoming notification from google talk, it hangs and it says process.google.com stopped. So I have installed hangout and its ok with hangout now.
Hope this helps you.........

Yeah, the link you posted has the '...' in it, which ruins the URL. It's the not the complete URL. Do you have the full URL to download it on Baidu? It will be much faster than downloading it from another site, as you know from living in China and having to deal with Chinese internet connections
I just want to make sure I'm downloading the correct version. Is this the right one?

Thanks for the link. It works perfectly.
XXAMF7 got loaded on the baseband version of ZNAM2.
I have the same problem like yours. As soon as it was loaded it said there is a software update, but when say OK to update the software it keeps searching. Have you got any solution for this?
Also, did you try if you upload the stock ROM of XXAMF7 on the unicom Duos? Whether the radio works?

After update, firmware is still 4.1.2??
Do you have USB on the go (OTG) option. (Means can you connect the USB flash drive to you mobile by means of a adaptor cable??
first thing, I've been flashing a number of rom's to my phone to find the right one. only a couple apparently actually have a connection to the data. the rest won't connect to the internet without a wifi connection. they will still make phone calls and send/receive text messages, but they will not connect to the internet using data. I don't know what's going on with it, honestly.
and the other thing, do touchwiz based custom roms exist for the i747? preferably ones that are either 4.3 or 4.4 based.
sorry, I'm still new to the whole thing, and I'm trying to get my phone in stable, working order. I have been searching a lot and trying a number of different things, though.
also, 4.3 is avaliable as an OTA upgrade...but as I understand it, if I do that, I'd never be able to downgrade past that, would I? would that mean I'd never be able to root my phone and install custom firmware again?

Now are you on a custum rom?
if yes, mabye that the custum rom that you flashed on your phone it was a beta version and that Mobile Data is not avaible on this rom.
Or mabye that mobile data is not enable on your phone.
Mabye that you jusy have any mb/gb left for your month.
as you Said : I'm still new to the whole thing, and I'm trying to get my phone in stable, working order. I have been searching a lot and trying a number of different things, though.
What i suggest you is first of all to keep your phone unrooted you are saying that you are trying to get your phone stable. And when your phone is rooted on a custum ROM it may be not stable.
Yes 4.3 is avaible throught the air and through Samsung KIES 3.
the new Samsung 4.3 Firmware has a new Bootloader.
After upgrading a bootloader you CANT revert it. You cant downgrade the bootloader after.
Also the new Android 4.3 from samsun has a new security that they named : KNOX
This new Security software that EVERYONE HATE make rooting, flashing a LOT harder.
If you update to 4.3 you WONT be able to downgrade to 4.2.1 or 4.1.1.
iF you try this will result to a Soft-Bricked Device.
On 4.3 you are still able to root the Galaxy s3 I747 but DONT try to downgrade through Odin YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Hope that i help you. Any other question? Just ask!
Just to add to Killers post, one reason you may not be getting data is because you didn't follow instructions when installing the custom rom. For instance, with SRx3 rom, you have to flash a new modem and bootloader, not doing so generally leads to data issues. You may also want to familiarize with the proper apn settings and see if that's the culprit. Hope this helps.
Hi,
I am sadly no mobile expert and need your kind support. Since over half a year I have 2 problems
very frequent phone call interruptions
much lower battery life time
My phone/sim provider in Germany are Vodafone and Congstar. But I do not think its related to them.
All the trouble started after a certain upgrade to newer versions of Android OS, but can't remember when this exactly started. Then the battery life went down significantly and I get those annoying interruptions in phone calls up to 3-4 times in a ~15 minute call. Its so bad .. What could you recommend to me ?
Is there a better image downloadable, maybe fallback to older version ?
Or is it possible to fallback to the version in ROM ? I fear side effects and unfixed system holes by this.
Thanks for any help !
BR
Moin,
I highly recommend you to switch to CyanogenMod. I took the switch to CM right after i bought my GT-I9195 and all I can say I've never expirenced such problems either on Vodafone nor O2. ATM I'm still at CM11 as this is rock stable and battery life is quite good, ~2-3 days depending on usage
Just follow this steps and you've got nothing to worry about.
1. install custom recovery
2. take a full backup of your current system + SD Card just for the case...
3. install CM11 for your phone + pico OpenGAPPS
4. flash the latest Modem EUR region for your phone right after
5. use it for a few days without any Custom kernel and a minimum of installed apps
6. if your not satisfied restore the backup from step 2.
Sounds simple...it is indeed.

1st of all you talk about your GT-I9195 model which is a normal S4 mini, but I have the DUAL SIM version.
Thanks but I want to stay with the normal SW train, I installed CM on a S3 1y ago and I didn't like the look and feel. So CM is not an option for me.
Besides my preferences, if I look at this article its nice to see, that there is progress for the DUAL SIM version but there are still known issues like stuttering problems and of you look down further the auther doesn't intend to create a CM official version out of it, so it looks more like a "hack" than something which is further supported by CM. Looks like an ALPHA SW and a one way road to me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790789
So .. other ideas ?!
Hello,
One point before flashing: your knox is 0x0 ? 1st flash result 0x1 and warranty lost.
Choice is to flash and try to solve this problem by yourself but lost the warranty or see with samsung support what they can do, but after 1st flash there is no coming back.

I have no clue about knox. I am using the smartphone with a private and a company SIM.
But there are is company deployed SW on the smartphone. Also e-mail is pure private.
I only use DUAL SIM for the purpose of being able to make company phone calls with the company SIM.
Is there no way to get rid of 4.4.2 ? I remember the phone has been sold with 4.2.x.
Is there no 4.2 stored somewhere on the phone which can be reactivated ? At least then I could check, wheter it runs more stable and whether battery life is then better. But in fact I have no Kies backup, as I hate this bloated software.

more important: at the end, e-fuse part: "This information may be used by Samsung to deny warranty service"

Is somebody able to explain to me in easy words, what this all now means to me ?
Does this mean, I can't do a downgrade without loosing any kind of warranty ?
Should this be the case, I assume I am stuck n the 4.4.2 path and can only hope for vendor support (Samsung).
So shall I open a case with Samsung and hope that they fix the issue should it be a SW related issue ?
In short: if you flash using odin or heimdall for the 1st time you will loose your warranty.
Samsung update is merged inside rom, it's not something you can just uninstall.
I don't know if usual samsung tool let you downgrade to a previous version
(this time without knox issue since it's pure samsung way to update)
My phone was working fine and suddenly one day it got stuck on booting screen, then i have tried everything including flashing Rom, but all in vain, finally i ordered a new motherboard from aliexpress.com, the phone got started but everything is in Chinese language, play store was not there and even it is not working when installed from other sources, even whatsapp not working and i am not able to install without google play store. Earlier version installed in the new chinese motherboard was android 4.1.2 and it was asking for software update , when i have updated its software to 4.3 , baseband version N7100ZCUEB1 AND KERNEL VERSION 3.2.31-2859655, BUILD NUMBER JSS15J.N7100CUEOK1.,due to chinese version i am not able to use whatsapp or playstore. After updating the phone, i am not able to make a call and it shows the error "not registered on network" even the apps installed by me are not working, kindly advice what to do, should i use any other version or anything else. This is a chinese motherboard and i want change its software to indian version, what should i do?

Hmm, looks like it might be the China version of the Note 2 which has limited features. Search XDA for the Note 2 China version and you'll see that many people have problems with flashing ROMs.
Can you send it back and get the international version of the motherboard?

It may be international version because it is shipped for India, is it possible to flash any other ROM and if yes pls guide me how to do, coz i have never done this before. Thanks in advance
If the phone was the international version, it should say "GT-N7100" in Odin mode. See the picture from post number 1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618261
There's nothing wrong. You need to write the IMEI to the phone memory. By the way you didn't need to buy the entire motherboard. Only the phone memory (16gb eMMC) was corrupt. Samsung produced faulty emmc in the early S3 and Note 2 models (google and you'll see). Mine had same problem I took it to repair shop and they replaced the emmc and wrote the IMEI. Charged me around $40 in local currency. Just tell them you have corrupt IMEI and they'll do it for very little amount of money. After you do that, flash TWRP custom recovery and take back up of your EFS and Modem folder (the IMEI is located here). Then you can upgrade to 4.4.2 and restore EFS and Modem from TWRP.
I don't think it is corrupt or defective chip since 4.3 successfully installed on the phone.
i have changed the CSC code from CHN to INU, after then when i went to recovery mode it shows INU in place of CHN, but i was not able to flash indian ROM in that via odin 3.09, it shows the message "nand write start : failed" and finally failed.
When tried with ODIN 3.07 it shows the error, serial port is not communicating , while USB debugging is allowed in my phone. In recov ery mode it shows the phone detail GT-N7100_CHN_CHINEXYNOS4412 and downside it shows CSC code INU, could any one suggest which ROM to FLASH and how?
CWM recovery is already flashed in it and it is already rooted.
I tried to flash offical 4.4.2 ROM indian version and failed , could anybody pls suggest anything else.
I know of no way to flash a non-Chinese ROM to this phone. I have seen people try to get a ROM onto a Chinese phone. When they do get the ROM installed, The Play store will not run.
The CSC is simply a carrier customization. The problem is the bootloader which prevent the installation of non-authorized ROMs.

This ROM is not official, it is a custom ROM as seen in recovery mode.
Based on your first post, the phone looks to be running official 4.3 Chinese rom: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-N7100/CHN/
All Samsung phones made for mainland China have very tight restrictions on the rom, bootloader, and apps.

i think you misunderstood my post...I said his PREVIOUS emmc was faulty. Now that he bought and entirely new motherboard( which has the emmc) he everything is fine. He just needs to write the IMEI to connect to network (not registered on network error).

Hey if you can't flash other ROMs from odin..
take it to repair shop, they have 3rd party hardware flashing tools, they'll flash the latest 4.4.2 international rom.
I'm not sure if it's possible to flash an international ROM on the phone. Also, the phone may not have the necessary hardware to support the carrier's radio frequencies. If the phone shows the correct imei, not being able to connect to a cell carrier could be a hardware limitation.

before up-gradation of this new chinese rom , network was working fine , so it must be enabled for the frequency range.
The phone may have been running a custom ROM or a hack to allow the phone to work with your carrier? I'm not sure but it does sound like the motherboard is made for mainland China.
I have an s4 mini i9192 4.2.2 and I want to upgrade it to 4.4.2. My current csc country is in Saudi Arabia and I cant find any updated firmware for that. How to update and which firmware can i use?

The only way to update is to use a Custom ROM.
Same problem for my Devise S4 mini Dous GT-I9192, Officially you will not find any Samsung Stock Rom higher than 4.2.2 the only way to look for Custom Roms the only problem you will face both Sims are on always as all Custom Roms based on CM. other problems are minor specially when you use Stable Custom Rom

I'm pretty sure the sim problem is in Nougat roms. You can turn off sims in Marshmallow.

android(dot)gs how to manually update galaxy s4 mini duos to android 4.4.2 kitkat
This is the site I used.
I cant remember the error msg but it popped up when I pressed start.
I have no idea what I am doing. I never tinkered with my phone before so I don't know what you mean when you say flashing a rom. I just googled how to update and I found this site. I'm a complete novice at these things.
The other methods I used are Kies and the normal way in settings.

First you need to take some time to learn all about "flashing" (writing new software [firmware really] onto hardware ie chip in your phone), as doing it wrong can "brick" your phone (turn phone into a brick, yes never work again!), eg flashing wrong model number eg I9190 firmware to your phone.
I couldn't find the tutorial you mention in first 5 pages of search, do you mean this one?
http://android.sc/update-android-4-4-2-i9192xxucng2-kitkat-on-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-duos/
strictly speaking you should not flash firmware from another region as it can stop your phone working properly. But it is possible, though I don't know about your phone or these tutorials as I haven't read them and checked all files etc
This tutorial has more info, that may help you if you decide to continue (at your own risk!)
http://techbeasts.com/update-galaxy-s4-mini-duos-i9192-to-android-4-4-2-kitkat-official-firmware/
in particular it says back up your EFS which is particular important when flashing different region in case you mess up (save to external SD & copy to PC also)
by flashing you will wipe all your personal data stored on internal SD eg photos, msg, notes, calendars etc so you need to back them up to PC (or external SD)
Kies wont let you flash that ROM as it's from wrong region (I think). Odin will though.
Nobody can help unless you give us the exact error msg + other info like Odin ver, file names etc
If you are going to flash a new ROM you might want to flash a newer custom ROM, like Cyanogenmod 13, Linage 13 or 14 (Android versions 6 & 7 respectively), you'll get new features, much better battery life, security and privacy though you will lose Samsung apps like notes etc
Help
I tried it again using the firmware from TT. This was before I saw your reply and I got this message. It was stuck for a while and I plugged in my internet adapter and it said it failed. ( in the pictures)
If you type in this,"manually update i9192 kitkat" on google, it should be the first site to come up which is the one I used.
My phone was made in china, bought in the USA, being used in the Caribbean but has Saudi Arabia codes. I don't understand. The last update from them is 2014. I used the one from Russia and TT. Both of them failed.
Should I stick with updating it to 4.4.2, flash a newer ROM ? Would this 'newer ROM' be able to work on my phone?
Or drop the whole thing because I have no idea what I'm doing?
Is there a low chance of me bricking my phone if I flash a newer ROM?

Is your phone connecting properly? There is nothing showing in the id com port window at top left, when connected properly there will be, or does that disappear when error msg shows? I can't remember. Possible it means your drivers are not installed properly, or try newer ones here (though not always better)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956&page=61
(scan with anti virus first)
You might want to try a newer version of Odin
Though first thing is try another usb cable. Also usb cable must always be connected to usb connectors attached direct to the PC pcb (normally at the back (or side on laptop), not an extra one like at the front and definitely not thought an external usb hub.
Your phone is probably grey market, nothing wrong with that, mine is too (mine is German phone, bought from HK used in Australia). However if pre owned it could have had other roms flashed,
It's entirely up to you which version of Android you want to use, they will all work on your phone, though anything higher than 4.4.2 will be a custom ROM, most of us here run them ie Cyanogenmod (CM) or Linage (LOS) which has recently replaced CM. LOS still has a few little issues but it is already stable, though a couple of small bugs. The good thing is you will get regular updates for many, including the monthly security updates, and they have a many new features too. To flash these you will however need to unlock your bootloader and use TWRP for the recovery.
I suggest you make a nandroid back up as soon as you install TWRP, then you can always go back to your current setup.

Samsung said it will update to 4.4.2 but it did not, GSMARENA.COM sometimes not offering or updating to actual status and I had communicated with SAMSUNG but no reply from them however S4 mini is from S-Line which shall be more valuable to SAMSUNG but they did not care.

Maybe you mean in some regions. Because otherwise your statement is completely false. I had the 4.4.2 stock firmware on duos for instance.

Help me
Yes, it's connected properly. It is highlighted blue by ID:COM before the error occurs. I just installed the drivers you sent me.
I did the update with the latest Odin and I still got the error message.
Only my original cable connects to the computer so I cant try any others. Once it's connected and appears in 'my computer', doesn't that means its connected?
It wasn't pre-owned but how would I know if a ROM is already installed?
I think I want to upgrade to the 4.4.4 and IF I get it to work, I will then upgrade to the latest one. I'm assuming this is easier and since I have no idea what I'm doing or where to go, I should definitely go with the easiest first. Right ? You lost me at Cyanogenmod. This is guy stuff.
Can you direct me where I need to go please with some instructions ?
Thank you
you should quote msg or use @atnasan to be sure your reply is seen by other poster.
If I remember correctly (it's been a long time) when odin gets stuck at get pit it is normally a communication issue even though your phone appears to show up correctly in it. You must run Odin with full admin rights on your pc. Some used to say only the Odin for S4 Mini & ver 3.07 or 3.09 (I think it was) would work (see the S4 mini Odin thread) Some firewalls can cause issues so turn them off (maybe reboot with antivirus off). You need a usb port that connects direct to the motherboard & original usb cable (really just needs a good quality cable in good condition, I think, just not one of those thin $5 ones).
If that doesn't work try to borrow another USB cable or try another PC or laptop.
Luckily I've never had any issues, all Odin ver worked, I just right click on Odin to run as admin from my user account on Windows 7 64bit even with Zonealarm firewall running. But other people have had problems.
No need to update to 4.4.2 etc if you will try to install a custom ROM like Linage or Cyanogenmod or one of the more customised . (in fact on my I9195 updating to 4.4.2 loaded a new bootloader, which had a stronger ver of knox)
If Odin won't flash stock you can try flash TWRP with Odin then use that to try flash a custom ROM from your sd card using TWRP instead of using Odin. Use TWRP from the neozone75 thread, I am using the tryout ver 3.1 which is working perfectly, so I suggest that. (ver 3.0..3 gave me errors checking the md5, though most people don't both with that check, so would work). Linage OS is about to change official version from LOS13 to LOS14 (Android 6 & 7) so you might want to wait a week or so if you choose that ROM, as I don't think there will then be any updates to LOS13 after that as each phone on LinageOS downloads section only has 1 Android version supported.
