What about knox flag? This root method trigger the warranty flag?
Official site chainfire said: this metod will trip KNOX.
Probably the best method will be change kernel on older than you have now via odin. And use towelroot app, for me this method worked fine, without tripping KNOX. I have Old kernel, but now i cant upload this file for you because I have it on ma laptop at home.

Thanks, On What ROM is based the old kernel that you have, maybe I can extrack it from a ROM in Sammobile. I have an old kernel but is for android 4.3 not 4.4. I have the S3 Neo with dual SIM and 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 quadcore.
I dont know, because I downloaded only old kernel, without stock rom. I have single SIM s3 Neo 4x1.4 eu version.
I think, last rom with old kernel is from 05/06 2014 or older ver.

Thanks! Everything works great with this method!

Hi
In theoriy it is possible to extract the contents of that tar file and flash it with adb or maybe heimdall.
There is a recovery img and some cache image. I guess you need to write the recovery img to the recovery partition. But i dont know the commands (would be also interested in them!!) and the chache image belongs also somewhere.
If someone could point out the locations and the commands this would be awesome!
Thanks

Hi I just want to say that i succesfully rooted my neo in Linux with a WinXP install in Virtualbox! Just boot into download mode and then add the device in Virtualbox. I tied it 2 times, second time worked. First time he did not get a connection to the phone.
Also i installed the udev rules from heimdall before doing this!
Happy rooting
I found a web java app called JOdin3 that needs heimdall on Linux to be able to operate. It detects a phone as connected when in download mode, but I didn't have the guts to try and flash it. Did anyone else tried that application on any OS?
Hi there, I have a gt-I9301I with a baseband: I9301IXXUANI2 can I try this method? Is there any risk of getting a brick?

I tried several methods such as DoomLord, SuperOneClick, UnlockRoot, Z4Root to root the phone but none worked.
Tried ADB to manually root the phone through commands but almost every command returns – “Permission Denied” or “Read Only System”. However files su, SuperUsr.apk, BusyBox were easily pushed into /data/local/tmp. Further steps like making local.prop and onwards could not be executed and returned above stated errors.
Also tried modifications by putting update.zip on SdCard root and running Android Recovery System but this method also returned error “Signature Verification Failed”.
Tried Nautilus on Linux Mint with OpenSSH while running DroidSSH on the phone but could not mount device by any means.
Scanned my device with ‘X-Ray’ app which reported that device or firmware I am using had been patched and is not vulnerable to any of the exploit available at the moment.

CallBar A1 SC6820 Stock ROM Available
UPDATE
Original Stock ROM of CallBar Mobiles is available on following official link.
Millions of Thanks to Company's Sales Head Officer in my country to whom I talked on Mobile. He was kind enough to spare his precious time and guided me to download StockRom and flash it properly. Without naming him on this public portal, I would like to tell that he is Great Person.
There are 3 Stock ROMs for Models CallBar A1, CallBar A2 and CallBar Tab7 available under the Modem Driver Download Section. The Rar File includes all tools and software required for flashing.
Here is the link
SpreadTrum SC6820 CallBar A1 Rooted
Successfully rooted CallBar A1 Mobile through ResearchDownload.
Requirement - Stock Rom (pac file) and CWM Recovery Image.
While flashing original ROM through ResearchDownload Software, I simply replaced the path of Recovery.img file to CWM Recovery image file. After Flash was over. Restarted phone in CWM Recovery and applied update.zip from sd-card containing SuperUser Files.
Its done.... Rooted.
Took me almost months to get success. I kept experimenting whenever got time. At one time also bricked.... any way finally I am done.
Intex12345 Can you make a tutorial for the rooting ?

I also dont know much about rooting but after several tries i successfully rooted my SpreadTrum. (CallBar A1 Mobile). It was very difficult because I rooted another Samsung Models with much ease.
All methods for my CallBar had been unsuccessful, till I got original firmware. SO In my method, you need firmware first. If you have original firmware then write back. I would surely like to help you.
If you have CallBar Mobile then I will write the steps in details so that you can root your mobile. But as far as my knowledge is concerned all Spreadtrum phones dont root with common method.

Bro, you have a newer phone and people are still trying to root this.

If you find CWM Recovery image which may be working for your Model then it would be better because I tried to find CWM for your model but found none. Any way... you may try random CWM images for your mobile.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2165554
From the above link you need some tools, software, images:
First of all you will need Research Download Tool so download Package Debug Tools.
Working CWM Recovery Image for your model. At the moment no specific is available so try Random CWM images.... You may try one after another image.
FDL files so download FDL file set also.
Remember, Research Download can revive even dead phone.
(Windows XP is better for using Research Download because SpreadTrum Mobile drivers don’t install in Windows 8.... You may try on both windows though. For me, it worked on XP so I had to install VMWare with XP on my Windows 8)
1. Install SpreadTrum Drivers.......
2. Run Channel Server (You will find in Debug Tools package)
3. In the setting select 115200 baud rate.
4. Run Research Download
5. Channel Server should have green light when Research Download is run. If not, change Com Port and Endian Setting in the Channel Server.
6. Open Firmware (pac file) through single gear icon.
7. Open the setting (two gears Icon). Make sure that baud rate in Research Download is also 115200
8. Replace fdl1 and fdl2 with the files available with you.... (Try different sets you have downloaded.... Hit and trial.... I would suggest you to try first without replacing these files)
9. In the Recovery row, replace the path of file to the CWM Recovery image file Downloaded by you. This is Custom Work Mode Recovery file. By changing this file, Research Download will flash CWM Recovery instead of Normal Stock Recovery. In case Custom Work Mode Recovery image is not flashed, mobile will still have normal Stock Recovery BUT without advanced features. But for Rooting you need Custom Work Mode Recovery. So try image suitable for your model. There is none specific for your model so you may try one by one after flash is over....
10. Go to the Calibration Tab.... uncheck all boxes..... if you dont, it may trouble you. Flash may fail. I was stuck for days on this step. Then I tried this setting and worked for me. One more guy has also reported to have worked this step for him. Another will report soon because he is also stuck on that.
11. Press Play Button.
12. Dont plug your mobile yet. Switch it off. Thereafter, plug in mobile in Computer USB while holding Volume - button.
13. Flash will start.
14. After the flash is complete, Reboot the Phone.
15. It’s should boot ...... Hopefully it would.
Now you have phone with firmware flashed with CWM Recovery Image installed on it.
Now comes the part of installing Super User files. Download SuperUser Zip from official web site.
16. Place Zip file containing SuperUser files on the root of sd-card.
17. Shut down Phone.
18. Switch on phone while holding vol(-) and power button. (Your model may have different combination for entering into Recovery Mode) It will reboot phone in CWM mode. Apply zip file containing SuperUser files from sdcard.
19. Reboot. It’s rooted.
I am not responsible, if you bricked your mobile in the process. I bricked my own handset once... But Research Download can revive even dead phones so mine was also brought back to life.... As long as you have firmware with you.... You make take risks.
Best of luck.... If you are stuck on any step.... Just tell me. I have tried to cover all steps... But some steps may require detailed instructions for newer people.
CWM recovery.img required
Thanks a lot to intex12345 for penning down your journey.

I NOW HAVE ROOT AND RECOVERY!
Thanks to mariostar32 and krankdroid!
Hi all,
I've just bought a Note II and am trying to get root. I've followed this tutorial carefully
HTML:
http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-on-linuxubuntu/
and everything completes without error, but whenever I try and boot into recovery it just get a garbled Samsung boot logo and it never gets to recovery.
Now I can't go back to stock updates since my device has been modified, so I'm commited to getting root and custom recovery now.
Can anyone help me with what is going wrong?
Thanks

I can no longer download updates from Samsung since I have tried to root it already.
I can't use Odin since I don't have Windows.
I have tried the method in the link above using Heimdall (Odin equiv. for Linux) and everything went fine (no errors, terminal output was as expected) but cannot get into any recovery (stock or custom)
Before you proceed with tutorial, make sure:
You have installed your Galaxy Note 2 N7100 USB drivers on your PC.
You need to enable USB debugging mode which is deactivated by default.
You smartphone should have 70-80% charge remaining.
Your Galaxy Note 2 N7100 should be factory unlocked.
Backup your important data like Call logs, SMS and other data in stored in phone memory so in case if anything goes wrong, your data is not hurt.
The update is only meant for Galaxy Note 2 N7100, so don’t try it on other variants.
Step 1) Download Android 4.1.2 XXDLK7 for Galaxy Note 2 N7100. " I can't post outside links so type in google galaxy note 2 xxdlk7 "
Step 2) Download ODIN v3.07. It's an old version but you can download a newer version of odin from google but it works np
Step 3) Turn OFF your mobile and go to Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home Buttons together for few seconds followed by Power button until you see Android logo with triangle on screen.
Step 4) Now open ODIN on your PC and connect your Galaxy Note 2 N7100 to your computer.
Step 5) Once your phone is successfully connected to your PC, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn yellow and will show the COM port number.
Step 6) Select the downloaded file to install by following below steps:
Click on PDA and select file with HOME or CODE in its name.
Now click on Phone and select file with MODEM in its name.
Next click on CSC and select file with CSC in its name.
At last click on PIT and select file with .pit.
Step 7) Again to to ODIN window and check Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.
Step 8) Click on Start button in ODIN window to start the installation process. The process will take few minutes to complete.
Step 9) When the installation is completed, your phone will restart. I hope that i helped you GoodLuck

I've only just bought this phone and can't afford to buy another if I brick it, so I'm hesitant to just try without some expert knowledge.

Great! I'll get that to install TWRP or CWM then, since Heimdall seems to be corrupting the recovery when flashing it.
I've got root now (thanks to mario above!) so mobile odin is a good option

7. Unzip it and place the contents(a root_de_la_vega.sh script file and root_files folder) in the root of your phone memory(internal storage).
7. Reboot.
8. Delete the newly added files(a root_de_la_vega.sh script file and root_files folder) and Reboot again
You are done!! , Now you are Rooted and stock.

I wonder why this stock Odin flash firmware is only approximatly 1/2 the size
of the official stock Note 3 N900T MK2 firmware found on SamMobile.com?
If all that's been done to it is root, it should be about the same size.
Thanks!

You are right about bmi7 for tmobile, but I was wondering why designgear's odin flash
rooted is so much smaller than the SamMobile official stock firmware.
If designgear's is also supposed to be stock firmware it should be about the same size
as the official stock firmware at sammobile.
Size is different because its a zip file, if you unzip it will be same 1.84 gb file.

My buddy just got a T-Mobile Note 3 about 4 hours ago with MI7 firmware and want to know if I would root it for him (note: he didn't care if Knox was tripped or not, not something he will ever use), so I figured I'd try the instruction you've posted here to see if would trip Knox or not.
I can say that this DOES work, Knox still at 0x0
Time to de-bloat this sucker :-]
Thanks for this...
Surprised this hasn't gained more attention...

I was able to locate a copy of the file via Google and flashed it last night, then rooted. Got that done so then I used my Google backup to restore my phone. Is there any real harm in flashing back to the stock version then going back to rooted later, as long as I haven't done any system updates? I ask because Isis still complains about being rooted, and it was a PITA to get it working on my VZ Note 2. Since I can't nandroid back and forth between roms like on the Note 2, I have to use Odin and flash firmware. They have to make such a production out of it-I miss fastboot and flashing ROM's till all hours of the morning!

Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Folder (SM-G150NS, SM-G150N0):
- Android Lollipop 5.1.1
- OEM Unlock available via Developer settings.
- Model : SM-G150NS
- Build version : LMY47X.G150NSKSU1APK3
- I have access to Odin flashable firmware (via Sammobile)
This phone is almost 3 years old and yet I have not found any information about root solution for this phone.
While I am really skeptical about "one click root" solutions, I have tried KingoRoot but with no luck (displayed a bunch of popup, adverts and got stuck at 90%).
I have not tried OneClickRoot or KingRoot, if someone can confirm if safe. I will give a try.
This device seem pretty "standard" to me, I mean there is a lot of Samsung phone running 5.1.1 that can be rooted easily. I guess this one can also be...
The device is vulnerable to Dirty Cow vuln but it seems like we can't really do anything from there...
I saw this chinese website that have Odin rooted package : [Can't post it as I am new user]. But payment is needed. Looks like a scam to me
Has someone have any idea how I can root this device ? I will be very grateful for any help I can receive.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers :highfive:
Edit: I will seriously buy you a beer if you can help me with this...
Download this custom recovery http://ge.tt/4cO5xGj2
Flash the custom recovery, get the 2.78 SR1 Supersu zip file, copy it to the phone and install it from custom recovery.
Hi gsmDabbler,
Great find! Successfully TWRP and rooted using your method :highfive:
Thanks very much :good:
For the record, here is the steps I have done :
TWRP Install :
1) Download custom recovery linked above (unofficial_twrp_3.0.2-r6_novel3gskt(G150NS).tar).
2) Turn off your phone and start it in "Download Mode".
3) Open ODIN, click 'AP' and select the recovery tar file downloaded previously.
4) Click 'Start' and you are done.
Root :
1) Dowload latest supersu.zip version (currently SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip).
2) Copy it to your phone memory.
3) Launch TWRP and install zip.
Edit: Beer sent as promised
Would this also work for the Samsung Galaxy Folder SM-G150NK? Just want to make sure I don't mess up my phone just because it has a different radio in it.

This file is a good replacement to an SuperSU file.
The actions should be done are:
- Burn (With Odin software) TWRP on the phone after logging in download mode,
Entrance to recovery TWRP >> Install >>Find the attachment, and just install it ..
Then install an app magisk, so you can manage the root

Sure you can, I have the exact same model and did it with a bit of trial and error, so first of all you need to install TWRP from here
https://dl.twrp.me to your note2
and then make a backup up of your Stock ROM (4.4.2)
and then root by using https://samsungodin.com from your PC
Then flash your custom reassertion ROM.
